Blood Red Layces Sweet! I wanted to switch to bassoon but my BD wants me to stick with the oboe for now. Mainly becuase the songs that we're playing are Christmas songs and our bass section (a bass clarinet and a tuba) is already too loud. We're going to be getting more people soon though so he'll probably let me switch when we need a bigger bass section. If he doesn't, oh well. I love my oboe and I'm fine as long as I'm playing a double reed. 3nodding Hee. We lack bass. So we need a lot more. XDDD But our band programs getting bigger, since there are 13 tubas in our 5th (starting) grade band program, and 7 of them are girls. ^^ but...the bad thing is...there are no good news about new oboes or bassoons...T.T thats so sad that there arent that many oboes or bassoons in bands. crying
but soon the double reeds will rise to a higher power and they will all respect us and our horrible sounds. twisted

my family says I sound like a foghorn.
They're begging me to go back to being a common flutie. XDDD
And from the information I have gathered from the middle school band, there is no hope to even enlarge our bass section, much less add oboes or bassoons to our meager bass section.
We don't even have an official section leader since its so small. Our bass sections consists soley of: a solitary trombone. 1 1/2 bass clarinets. ((technicaly there's two bass c-nets, but one of them sucks so bad its like he's not there.)) One baritone. Me. ((BASSOON))
So, to recruit possible bassoonists, I'm going up to elementary school kids during our little band visits, saying bassoonists are so badass. ((not that way exactly. XD))

haha, whenever i tell people to play the bassoon, they all say they want to play the flute or the clarinet or the trumpet. i was the only person i know who wanted to play the bassoon since third grade.

Both of my sisters played the oboe, and they were like "play the bassoon" and showed me a picture, and i wanted to from then on. except for a little bit when i wanted to play the french horn.

Tisaganshi Kazuki Hey cool, I'm a Bassoon to!! And I am in Pit, but since our season is over (4A Band), and we still have football games, the Pit members were given Battery Instruments, and we're marching for the remaing games! I play the oboe as my main instrument and for marching band i play the alto sax but I never hard of "Battery Instruments" what is it?

In band class, I play bassoon AND oboe! (My teacher really needed another bassoon player, but he didn't want to loose an awexome oboe player) In marching band, I usually play whatever I want. Last time I played drums. This time I'll probably play clarinet.
