Oh and if your husband is deployed, you get a doula for free as well. I know a few women who did that and they said it helped a lot.

Nemone, Yes it is quite hard doing it by yourself, I'm doing it completely by myself though. We moved to Washington and he deployed a month later. I haven't met many people. So no friends as of yet...a couple friends and family members from back home said they will come visit, but I'm not so sure about all that. Thankfully I'm fully independent and don't need anyone around. but just because I don't need it doesn't mean it wouldn't be nice to have someone around. My boyfriend won't be back until February my due date is in January. He's hoping to try to leave a couple weeks early. Well good luck to you too..only a couple more months. wink
I was looking at the doula service that Wic offers here. I went to ask about it though, since i read about it in one of there pamphlets. The lady i asked then took the pamphlet away and was like....Oops sorry we don't offer that anymore.. Although they do offer me a nurse to come and check in on me from time to time. I have my first appointment with her tomorrow. confused She'll just be coming to my house and checking what i'm eating and that sort of thing I believe.

Wow, they come out to your house? That stinks they aren't doing the doula thing there, but check with your ob, they should have the service. Every little thing helps. *Hugs*

Kaiya06 - I'm in Tacoma.
Are you speaking of the MSS (Maternity Support Services) nurse? She's pretty much worthless for me. HOWEVER, a friend of mine on DSHS coverage asked about chiropractic care, and the MSS found her a chiropractor that would do OB chiropractic on her. I DID ask her for a referral to a dentist.
Otherwise, they're really geared toward women with NO transportation, and NO help, and NO income. They'll hook up transportation and supplies and transportation TO get supplies etc. for pregnant and new mothers. Like I said, I don't really have much use for her. She says I'm her easiest patient.

-Nopenname It was MSS...and your right they don't do much. About all she will do is get you in contact with people who can do things for you. She was actually going to try to find me groups here to join so i could meet people, but there isn't much here. So before she left she said well, if i can't do anything for you at least you i could come and keep you company for an hour a month.
-Angiemademe I live a good ways away up on Whidbey island. The mss nurse said she's going to give me a number for a doula here...i don't know much about it...but is five hundred dollars an okay amount for a doula? I'm hoping a family member will come before so i don't need a doula...but it might be better that i get one either way just in case nobody comes up here.

Well here's some news,so my fiance is finally graduating Boot Camp on the 30th :] And he starts his A-school i think Oct. 4th. And he's able to come fly out & see me during X-Mas time, and also gets to fly out again in Feb. It's been pretty hard since he left in Aug. The last time he saw our daughter was when she was a week old, and then BOOM he had to leave to start training. We talk alot through letters, and ocassionally he'll get to call. But i've only gotten 2 calls so far :[ I miss him alot, but i know what he's doing is for the best. It's just really hard to go through.

Well, we're officially not a military family anymore, since the hubby separated from the Air Force this past Feb, but he's been thinking of joining the Alabama State Defense Force.... they're kind of like a back-up for the National Guard. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with State Defense Forces where you live? It seems like a pretty cool thing. We met some other ASDFers at the hurricane relief center today (they're the ones running it), and they said there's no boot camp, and you're only activated if the National Guard is overwhelmed (like it is now with the war and the hurricane). Here's a link to the ASDF site: http://www.alsdfrecruitingcommand.com/Any thoughts, comments, info?

I want to say my FIL was involved in either that or the Alabama National Guard. Either ways, it didn't work out very well and they ended up screwing him over on his benefits. I'm not overly fond of anything Alabama handles (they made us PAY in $100 for state taxes on top of being military, in TX no state taxes for military) state wise.
Mind you I've had some bad experiences with the state, so I'm biased in that regards and with my FIL this was probably close to 30 years ago, so things could have changed in that regard as well.

Mississippi made us pay state taxes too when we were stationed in Delaware. Bastards.
I don't know if the hubby is gonna go through with joining it, but he wanted to check into it. We'll definitely be doing some more research on it though. He doesn't wanna get into anything that may be more of a hassle than it's worth.

Research is a very good thing. I have a question for you guys though. Is anyone going to school through the University of Phoenix Online or their sister college Axia? I'm seriously considering it. And so far have very good vibes.

I am new to the whole military thing my husband joned the army this month and left for boot camp last week which is 9 weeks right... but then he is going to AIT for 16 weeks and we had decided that we were going to work things out with our marriae and such aways from all influences but I was wondering when do me and the baby get to be with him someone told me that i could go with him to Virgina when he goes to that ait thingie and then someone eles said i couldnot be with him until he finished that I am so confused all i know is that he left for boot camp and i cant get a hold of him for anything and i dont even know if he is ever going to call me to let me know anything.
I dont know if anyone has been in this situation but i would really like some feed back. thanks
