"You'll pay for that." Adonnith growled through his teeth, "Mark my words. You will pay." before turning and exiting swiftly, leaving the trio behind standing in the stables. Elizabeth closed her eyes and rested her head against the neck of the horse, her face contorted with the prospect of tears - in fact there was one running down her cheek right now, leaving a cold trail on her skin.
Her timid side seemed to have caught up with her as she burst into tears for the second time this day. Stress piled on stress, as well as adding on threats didn't help her normally fragile state of mind.
After a long few moments of losing her dignity, the knight slowly began to bite back the sobs and regain composure. "L-lets get.. get you on." she murmured quietly, at first her breath catching on a rogue sob that almost couldn't be contained.

Rachael nodded, but before she did anything else, she stepped forward and took the knight's gauntleted hand, squeezing it gently -- however much effect that may have had when said hand was encased in steel. "That was amazing," she said simply, then, releasing Elizabeth's hand, turned to stare up at the horse, The saddle was a long way off the ground. There had to be a trick to this.

Elizabeth blinked, turning her head to peer at the hand that held hers for a brief moment in time. Her eyes eventually lifted to her squire after hearing her words. The knight merely managed a little smile before moving her thoughts on to the matter at hand.
"Usually.." she began, struggling once more to keep her composure, "You'd stick your foot into the stirrup" she rested a hand on the leather loop, "and haul yourself up, but you're a little short so I'll lift you on." She gave an attempt at a small laugh, but it sounded all to fake even to herself. Soon, however, she wasn't concentrating on laughing and was instead lifting Rachael from the floor and up towards the saddle so that she could sit in the old leather saddle.
----------
"Ah, miss DuVall." Selden called from his position near the door, "I was wondering how long you were planning on staying in the wonderful city of Isyl-Belyrith? If you were to be staying longer I could serve as your guide you see, so long as I'm near enough to keep an eye on Elizabeth." His eyes landed upon the boy who was half clinging to Scarlette's form, eyeing the fur coat that appeared to large for him. In the end the bard decided against asking where it had come from, for risk of insulting said child and its guardian.

Scarlete nodded to the bard's words, walking over to where he was and let her crimson eyes travel to the other's. Her hand resting between the boy's shoulderblades and being sure he was not too cold. "I was planning on staying for a little while but I think I may extend my stay. Explore the Isyl a bit more and well, be sure the boy has no parents." SHe said, a smile tracing her lips as she turned her eyes from the bard and to the small boy. She did halfway hide the smile by her raven locks and the fact that she tilted her head to the child.

After a moment of awkward scrabbling, Rachael managed to get herself sitting in the saddle, albeit uneasily. Her left foot had found its way into a stirrup, but her right was waving about vaguely looking for the other one. She dared not lean over and look to see where it was: her position felt too unstable to move, as if she would just slide off if she tried to lean too far. Her hands were wrapped over the saddlebow, the reins ignored entirely.

Selden gave a respectful nod to the elf and the child, "As you wish. If he has a name it's make it easier. Birth certificates are meant to be mandatory here and the records are kept in the information vault up in the castle. I should be able to gain us entry if Elizabeth would accompany us; the scribes are cowardly fools. So if he was born here in Isyl-Belyrith, we should be able to track down his family."
The bard moved forward half a step and inclined his head towards the pointy-eared boy, "You have a name, chap?"
The small boy blinked at the bard before giving a little noise and trying to hide against Scarlette's form. Once the small child had deemed himself safe enough from the 'scary' man, he peek from behind a fold of fabric. "You smell funny." he stated quietly, little hands clinging to Scarlette as tightly as his weak muscles would allow.
----------
Elizabeth gave a little smile at Rachael's change of composure open being off the floor. "It's pretty hard to fall out of that saddle, you know." she murmured whilst moving around to the other side, placing the squire's foot into the leather stirrup. "You can lean side to side and it won't budge. It's quite safe."
The white horse lifted its head slightly, coming to attention at the new weight on its back, ears flicking back to listen to any commands. Meanwhile, Elizabeth was gathering the reins for her squire, her right hand holding them up on the saddlehorn whilst her left hand rested on the back of the saddle.
"And with Kate you can cheat slightly." she began with a little smirk, "She understands the words stop, turn about, walk and 'yah'." the horse, upon hearing the various words, made slight movements as if to carry them out yet Elizabeth's steady right hand kept the horse still.

Scarlette could not help but to laugh at the small boy's words, her right hand moving to cover her lips as she tried to stop from laughing. Just the simplistity of the boy speaking his mind and telling the Bard he 'smelt funny' it was just simplistic and ever so funny. She laughed a few more times, her left hand patting the back of the boy's shoulders.
"Sorry..." She excused herself with a light giggle and soon taking in a deep breath. "You have to admit that was funny though..." SHe said, having loosened up a bit with the laughter. She sighed, shaking her head and turning around a bit to peer at teh boy.
"What is your name?" She asked in a much softer tone then the Bard had done.

Rachael was as tense as a bowstring as Elizabeth guided her foot into the other stirrup.
"It's pretty had to fall out of that saddle you know," the knight murmured. "You can lean side to side and it won't budge. It's quite safe."
Rachael nodded mutely. Her brain believed the Elizabeth, but the rest of her certainly didn't. Stiffly, slowly, she took the reigns from the knight's hands.
"And with Kate you can cheat slightly," Elizabeth continued with a little smirk, "She understands the words stop, turn about, walk and 'yah'."
Rachael began to nod her understanding, but instead gave a startled little squeak as the horse began to move.

Elizabeth gave what she believed to be a reassuring smile, her left hand moving from the saddle to gently rest on the small of her back, "You'll be fine. Now trust me; I'm not letting go of the reins until you relax." she began, peering up at the squire, "Horses react to how you feel on them. If you're tense, they're tense. If you're scared, they will become scared. If you are calm and confident, however, they will take their confidence from you - especially if your horse is unused to a situation or unsure about something - so I need you to relax. Completely. Nothing is going to happen at all. If you feel yourself falling, say and I'll catch you."
As Elizabeth gazed steadily up at Rachael she felt something odd in the vicinity of her heart. It felt alien to her, but wasn't that dissimilar to the feeling she had had towards the late knight, Sir Tripwood. Her gaze softened as she dwelt more on this feeling within her head. The horse Rachael was sitting on gave a heavy sigh as if it knew what was coming, its ears drooping slightly.

"Bu-buh..bububuh..."
Rachael took a deep breath, and let it out very slowly. Littl emuscles in her hands and writst twitched sporadically as she tried to relax.
Okay. People do this all the time. It'll be okay.
Oh, yeah, right, whatever. It's a bloody horse! A horse, you hear?
A...and?
It will trample you to death, blockhead.
N-no. Not if I don't fall off.
Pfah, and what are the odds of that?
...
Yeah.
Shut up.
Her teeth were still grit tightly, and inside her boots, her toes were still all curled up in fear, but the rest of the little redhead's body was considerably less taut now. She concentrated on breathing slowly, and on the fact that she was not going to let herself fall off. Not a chance.
"Okay."

"Look at me." Elizabeth commanded, lightly tapping the squire's back with her thumb. She waited patiently before speaking once again, "You are perfectly safe. Alright? I won't let anything happen to you." There came a soft laugh from the end of the walkway, the young female archer, Yse, standing there looking slightly amused. The had taken the white cloack off along with the scarf, but was still wearing the baggy white trousers and overcoat. The archer moved down the walkway towards them, Elizabeth throwing her an odd look.
"Y'know people like that Adonnith fellow would start to speculate if you continued to stand like that. Not that I think there's a thing between you two lovebirds." she gave another laugh.
"Love..birds..?" Elizabeth blinked before almost recoiling away from Rachael and Yse, "It's nothing like that!" she declared, becoming flustered. Yse merely found this even more amusing;
"I was only teasing." she pointed out with a grin, "Although if you react like that... Haha." she shook her head and waved a hand about dissmissively, "I was just wondering if you two were related, what with your hair being a similar shade.. Unless you've got a mother, daughter thing going on.. Although you look a little young and you a little too old."
"No-no." Elizabeth stammered, raising a hand and nervously scratching the side of her head, her cheeks a peculiar shade of red - from which Yse took even more amusement from - "I-.. She-... She's my squire." Elizabeth finally stated, "That's all. I-I was teaching her to ride."
"I can see that." Yse grinned, "Want some help?"
----------
Selden gave Scarlette a dark look as she laughed whilst the small child peered up at her looking thoughtful. "Uhm." the child declared with small frown placed upin his small brow.
"... His name's 'Uhm'?" Selden asked upon hearing nothing else from the child.

Scarlette laughed with a shake of her head. "Selden... I doubt that." She said with another small laugh, her ruby lips turned up into a warm smile. She sighed as she turned her attention back to the boy clinging to her leg. "Do you have a name? If you do not I will gladly give you one." She said, giggling and smiling warmly at the boy all the while.

"Look at me," the knight commanded. Rachael, maintaining her dead-centred seat and posture as well as she could, turned her head to look down to Elizabeth. "You are perfectly safe," she stated firmly. "Alright? I won't let anything happen to you."
Rachael nodded, and got as far as "Yes's--" before a soft laugh from the end of the walkway made her jump so that she alsmost did fall, in spite of the knight's hand supporting her back. Reins wrapped around her fingers, she gripped the saddlebow until she no longer felt like she was about to topple sideways.
"Y'know people like that Adonnith fellow would start to speculate if you continued to stand like that," the white-clad archer from earlier drawled with amusement. Rachael said nothing, not sure whether her heart would stay in her chest if she opened her mouth. "Not that I think there's a thing between you two lovebirds," Yse finished, with a laugh.
Rachael blinked, shaking her head slowly.
What?
Nope, no clue here, either.
"Love..birds..?" Elizabeth was at least as stunned by this line as Rachael was, almost jerking away from the both of them. "It's nothing like that!" she declared, flustered.
What?
The archer was highly amused at this point. "I was only teasing," she grinned. Although if you react like that..." She gave another small laugh, then shook her head, waving the mattter away with one hand. "I was just wondering if you two were related, what with your hair being a similar shade..." Rachael looked sharply down at Elizabeth. It seemed ridiculous... but could they ever actually know...? "Unless you've got a mother, daughter thing going on..." Yserowne continued, prompting Rachael to smartly turn her shocked gaze back to the archer. "Although you look a little young and you a little too old."
Elizabeth at this point was bright red, as she falteringly denied all the allegations. The mirthful young woman found this even more amusing, which probably did not much help Elizabeth, as she haltingly continued, "I-.. She-... She's my squire. That's all. I-I was teaching her to ride." She seemed quite relieved to have managed to get all that out.
"I can see that," the archer observed, with a grint hat still lingered on the brink of spilling over into laughter. "Want some help?"
Rachael closed her eyes and slowly shook her head to clear it, before looking to Elizabeth, one eyebrow raised, as if to say, "What just happened? Who the hell is she? What is going on? What is she talking about? Why is she laughing? Why are you red? Help?"

The small child pulled a face at Selden whilst Scarlette laughed before hiding again when the attention was returned to him. He didn't like the spotlight it seemed, especially from the bard - one didn't really know why however.
"I don't think he has one.." Selden mused out loud.
----------
Elizabeth made sure her eyes never met Rachael's and so the expression was lost to her, her head tilted down as she took particular interest in the leather of the saddle. Yse took this as her time for an introduction, throwing her arms out as if she were a performer.
"I'm sure you're wondering who I am, huh?" she began, glancing to the side only to spot a good place to hop on to. The archer hopped up onto the edge of a wooden panel that seperated two horses with suprising ease, a hand catching the wooden support post to balance herself. "Well. I, my friends, am the one and only Yserowne!" she cried out in a sing-song voice, hopping over the dark steed with a foot placed squarely on its back to land her on the next divider, now level with Rachael, "Ranger extrodanaire! No one can beat my arrows, not one!" The horse she had awoken threw its head up and tried to n** at her heels, to which she merely hopped over the next horse to avoid it. Then, continueing this movement on she swung about the support post and landed squarely on the floor, laughing to herself.
"And I'm not a grumpy old night-watch. I mean, whoever said that? I demand to know!"

Scarlette let out a small sigh at the elf behind her, smiling warmly at him as she slowly moved to leaning in front of him. "Hmmm..." She began softly, her crimson eyes to the boy's as she thought for a moment. "How about we call you.... Aiden? Plain and simple." She stated, her ruby lips slowly turning up into a warm smile as she peeered at the little elf, ignoring the Bard just a bit.
