NessyBaby
I use the word embolism way too much.

You uh...talk a lot about blood vessels, eh?

This is a made-up word, but I like it anyway!

Killykumwamee.
"kih-lee-kuhm-WAH-mee"
It just means all crazy and mixed up. See kaddywompus.

My brother and sister upset people a lot, so I tell them to stop or they'll make someone throw an embolism.

I use the weirdest words in the oddest places.

Machinations.
"mack-ih-NAY-shun"
Crafty or clever planning, usually for some evil purpose.

O_o
Throw....an embolism? An embolism is an obstructed blood vessel, right?

Yeah. The effect is like a heart attack, though, so I see where you were going with that.

Okay, I am really going to geek out on you guys now. The next word is one everyone knows, but I just LOVE the story behind it!

Tantilize.
"TAN-tihll-ize"
Everyone knows that to tantilize means to tempt with something wonderful. But let's find out the etymology (word-history)!
There's a Greek myth about a king named Tantalus, who did something very naughty. I can't remember what it was, but that's not the good part. His punishment was that he had to stand in a pool of clear water with branches of ripe fruit hanging just over his head for eternity. If he stooped down to drink, the water would drain away before he could get there. If he reached for the fruit, a breeze would blow the branches just out of his reach.

Neat, huh?

More Greek myth words!

Narcissist!
"NAHR-sis-ist"
An extremely vain person. One who loves themself over all else.
After a character in a Greek myth named Narcissus who was...drum roll please...really vain! Actually fell in life with his reflection, the dolt.

Aaaaand a quote from my friend Oscar Wilde for the occasion!
"To love one's self is the beginning of a life-long romance."

This has been fun, but I must make my congé and wish you all a pleasant St. Patrick's Day tomorrow, hopefully with a fortuitous lack of pinching!
Don't forget to wear your most verdant vestments!

O_o I always get "etymology" confused with "entymology." The study of words versus the study of bugs. *lol*

Hehe, me too! I always do a double take and think "Did I type the right one?"

That's because Rupert Everett IS Lord Goring.
"But I love talking about nothing, father. It's the only subject I know anything about."
"Do you always understand what you say, sir?"
"Yes...but only if I listen attentively."

"And now Arthur, are you not even a little bit happy to see me?"
"Oh my dear woman...possibly even less than that."

Wasn't one of your sisters Mrs Cheevely in a production of that once upon a time? Julia maybe?
