Ryo is seen as quite shy but careful is more accurate. Due to his powers, he is conscientious about his word choice and doesn't like to make requests of others. He will often speak to others through puppets but his advisors said he had to try his best to speak on his own.
Political Opinion ↠ During the war, his family had created an alliance with the Darkness kingdom and the people of the light kingdom are weak and easy to manipulate.
Biography ↡
Ryo was mute for the first five years of his life. He never spoke and would only sign when it was an absolute emergency. His father beat him relentlessly hoping that would "fix" him, however, it just caused Ryo to be more stubborn and resilient. On his sixth birthday, his mother bought him a puppet in the hopes it would encourage him to talk. It half worked.
Ryo possessed the puppet to make his first (imaginary) friend, Bubby. Ryo would take Bubbly everywhere and "talk" to him. His father hated it. He wanted Ryo to be stronger and confident. When Ryo was ten, he caught his father attempting to destroy Bubby and yelled out "STOP!" the first words he ever uttered. His father immediately froze, confused before he realized. His father was proud of him for the first time in his life.
After that, Ryo and his father met weekly attempting to control his powers to use them for the war. However, Ryo lacked the motivation and willingness to leave the castle. The only reason he remained was to be able to continue playing with his friends.
When Ryo was fifteen his father decided it was time for him to go to the war. Ryo has gained the power to possess multiple objects at a time which felt useful as Siscia was one of the smaller kingdoms in the war. Ryo refused to go. Ryo and his father fought, but ultimately, his mother decided that if Ryo did not want to go, he didn't have to.
That night, the king of Siscia was found dead in his room. The cause of death was ruled as a suicide but whispers in the castle believed someone from the royal family was behind the incident. After this, Ryo realized what this meant. He would soon be the King of Siscia. Upon this discovery, he put his friends away and went to the war.

↪ Soul Vampire - Harue can siphon a person’s essence with extended, skin to skin contact. This is not harmful in small amounts. Over longer periods, a person may experience fatigue, forgetfulness, apathy, and depression. Harue sometimes receives brief flashes of a person’s memory from touch. This power is not always active, but Harue has learned to be cautious as heightened emotions can trigger it. Harue must siphon essence to maintain her health, but requires only a small amount each day.
↪ Mirror, Mirror - Harue can impart an impression of her soul onto any smooth, reflective surface. Her reflection can then travel from surface to surface, usually mirrors. Her reflection can see beyond the mirror and communicate with others, but cannot leave the mirror. This power has two modes; Harue can either assign set duties to the reflection to be carried out independently (e.g. a short message and single response), or she can focus entirely on the reflection, leaving her body on autopilot.
Personality ↡Harue is a very shy girl, sometimes cripplingly so and especially around people that she does not know well. Despite this, she is a compassionate person at heart but has trouble showing that side of herself to others. She is slow to trust others but fiercely loyal once that trust has been earned. Harue is very neat and particular and often prefers to perform tasks for herself rather than to risk the result not meeting her high expectations. She has a habit of being quietly judgemental that she tries to overcome. Harue is even more critical of herself than she is of others and holds herself to exacting standards.
Political Opinion ↠ Harue bases her opinions of other countries on her brothers’ opinions. As such, she believes all kingdoms have traits both good and bad, that Alorans are weak and easily manipulated, and that she should always be cautious of Shahiti despite the alliance between their kingdoms.
Biography ↡
Harue was born third of the Siscia royal children and entered the world to very little fanfare. Her father already had two sons and so a daughter was little more than a future currency that would need nurturing until her worth could be traded on. Their father was not the nurturing sort, but Harue never truly felt alone. She had her mother and her brothers and she loved them dearly. She also loved Bubby, who entered their lives when she was two years old and was like another member of the family.
Early on their mother realized that she would become far more tired caring for Harue than for her other children. At times she was listless and lost interest in things that usually brought her joy. She eventually enlisted help in caring for her child only to realize the nursemaid suffered the same effects on days spent with Harue. Between the two of them they managed a system to care for the girl without causing themselves undue harm. And as Harue grew older, she was taught to control her siphoning powers.
The princess learned of her second ability when she was about four years old. The year before, her brother David had been sent away to a ranch and she missed him dearly. She would beg to go and see him, but it was never allowed. Sometimes when she missed David enough, she would whisper the things she wanted to tell him to her mirror at night. It reminded her a little of talking to Bubby, and she found that comforting.
It came as a surprise when one morning her reflection was somewhat off and began speaking to her, relaying a message from her brother. Confused, but thrilled to hear from David, Harue began practicing this ability nightly until she was able to hold complete conversations with her brother through her mirror.
Harue was as happy as she thought she had any right to be. Her only regret was that nothing she did could make her father love her. Whenever she was in his sight, she was criticized for something. She was too loud, and if not too loud then she was too messy, and if not too messy then she was ill-mannered, so on and so forth. Harue learned to suppress any urge to speak up or act out, but it never seemed to be enough. No matter how hard she tried to be the perfect doll, she was ignored at best and chastised or struck at worst. Still, the girl felt incredibly guilty when her father died because a small part of her was glad, even though she knew that was wrong.
When the invitations to Utopia came, Harue’s departure was delayed. She had never spent time around so many people and she was a little afraid to attend. But with Ryo and Bubby having left, Harue began to feel quite lonely. Seeing her brothers through her mirror was nice, but it just wasn’t the same thing as being with them. It had been years since she had seen David in person and she didn’t know when she would next have the chance if she let this one pass her by. It was more than reason enough for Harue to push past her fears and begin to pack.

Living Dead - The dead aren't dead to Clint. He is one of the few who are able to see, hear, and touch the dead. While this means the dead like to spend their time whispering in his ear about their gripes and grievances, it also means he's perfectly suited for wrangling the dead up to send them on to whatever comes after. He is able to extend his own spirit out to assist with this task, usually infusing it into rope or whips to help his soul keep shape.
Spirit Shot - David is able to focus souls into magical "bullets" to do damage. When left to his own devices, it's more of a scatter shot that doesn't neatly damage his target. He uses adapted focuses that look like pistols and rifles to focus the energy into concentrated "bullets" to do more damage than he would without them. He's able to hurt the living this way, but it is more effective with the dead.
Personality ↡
Rough and tumble, Clint has grown up outside of the norm for a prince. Years on the ranch have given him a down to earth, if not downright crass, attitude. He's the first person who will step in when he feels it's needed, but his help is usually pragmatic. Which often finds him stepping directly over boundaries or putting a boot in his mouth. It doesn't take away from his playful side. Clint isn't afraid to pull a prank or two, though his pranks can be more hurtful than he intends. Despite it all, he is loyal and loves deeply. He thinks the world of his older brother, Ryo, and isn't afraid to say so.
Political Opinion ↠ He's heard enough about all the other kingdoms from the spirits that spend their days and nights whispering in his ears. Each kingdom, including his own, has their good and bad, but the worst hands down has to be Shahiti. The things the spirits have told him that are happening there is enough to make his skin crawl.

As the second born prince of Siscia, David didn't have much use in the royal family. Ryo was the eldest and would be the future king, regardless of how angry their father was about the prospect. Not that the anger was something he ever understood. Bubby was one of the first things that David remembered and remembered finding it hilarious. But he wouldn't get to spend too many years with his older brother or his imaginary friends. When he was four his powers began to manifest. At first their parents were worried when David started reacting to the spirits around him, thinking that it was more imaginary friends. Quickly, they realized that wasn't the case and that their second born was able to see, hear, and touch the dead. Knowing he would be more useful elsewhere, David was sent out to learn the trade of those with powers like his at the spirit stables.
It was an abrupt change, going from the lap of luxury that was the royal palace to what was essentially glorified ranch life. But David thrived in it. One of the first orders of business at the ranch was to do away with his 'prissy prince name' as the other men called it. As little more than a boy he was taught everything from riding horses to the literal ropes, spirit roping. Upon roping his first he was now known as Clint, named after the spirit he'd managed to catch. The days were long and grueling, but he didn't mind. In fact, he was excited by it. The feel of the rope and pouring his essence into it, all the way to lassoing a spirit was a thrill he never would have known if he'd been left stuck in the palace. As he grew older, this extended into learning how to condense soul energy into bullets and fire them out of a pistol focus at the dead who intended to harm him.
The meat of their task was riding out to the battlefields to gather up the angriest spirits left behind and pull them back to the spirit farms. The war was rife with those who passed in a horrific way that left angry, scarred souls behind. Clint's job was wrangling them and herding them to the spirit stables in Siscia, where they would be forcibly sent one by one to whatever afterlife awaited them by workers who were able to tap beyond the pearly gates. Or whatever it was that separated this plane from the next, Clint didn't exactly specialize in it and never stuck around to find out what separated the different planes.
The end of the war put an odd, stuttering halt to the spirit wrangling business. The spirits just seemed to be gone, but not in a way that those who could see beyond could make sense of. Something was wrong. Without an idea of where to start, Clint reached out to his parents. That was when he learned of Utopia Academy. With little else to go on, he volunteered to join his brother on the campus and see if he could make heads or tails of this mess.

Yóel thinks very highly of himself. Due to his self-important attitude, he rarely admits his faults. Despite that, his confidence is also his charm point; many people tend to flock around him because of it. He can be very charismatic and gets along well with most people. He loves to socialize and hates spending time alone. Believing life should be spent happily, Yóel tries to spend his days with excitement. However, this also means that he tends to shirk much of the work that comes with running a dukedom.

Biography ↡
Yóel was born as the first son of the Saverio dukedom. Born with the ability “Spirits Blessing,” spirits of the dead flock around and love him unconditionally. However, this ability was not something most people could recognize, so it was thought that he had no abilities at all. As he could not see the spirits himself, he also believed he lacked any powers. As he grew older, however, something about him was still special.
Throughout his childhood, Yóel was unusually lucky and talented in everything he did. Due to the spirits' help, he excelled in anything without having to try very hard. Not knowing about his ability, he just believed he was amazing. Because of this, he grew to become very egotistical. Not necessarily thinking low of other people, but just thinking of himself as better.
He eventually gained four younger brothers, Mathéo, Lyam, Aldéric, and Zacharie. They were all born with abilities and grew up to be very talented as well. Being the oldest, Yóel was considered the heir to the dukedom. However, because it was believed that he had no abilities, his father was skeptical about handing over the dukedom to him. While he was smart and charismatic, he often spent his time drinking and gambling. While he did win a lot of money, his father felt disappointed in Yóel’s actions. Yóel also showed no interest in running the dukedom and usually skipped his lessons as well as refused to take any part in assisting with the war. He enjoyed spending his time and money frivolously such as gathering painters to the estate to make risqué portraits of him or buying weird things to add to his cabinet of curiosities.
Seeing all of this, Yóel’s brothers started to pine after the heir position, and all of them attempted to assassinate him to become the new heir. What they did not anticipate, however, was for all of their plans to fall through. Most of them died in the process. Mathéo was killed because the assassin he hired went to his room by accident instead of Yóel’s, and unable to see his target in the dark, killed Mathéo. Lyam attempted to poison Yóel during tea time together, but somehow took the poisoned cup himself and died. Aldéric tried to shoot Yóel with an arrow while they were hunting on horseback, however, he missed and something spooked his horse, which threw him off its back and kicked him in the chest with its back legs. Zacharie being the last one left, was too scared to try after the others failed attempts. However, he mysteriously died from a heart attack one night in his room. Leaving Yóel as the last remaining son alive.
Dismayed as Yóel’s father was, he begrudgingly gave the title of Duke to his son as his health had been dwindling due to illness. Despite Yóel’s hobbies and lack of interest in running the dukedom, things always seemed to go well for him anyway. He always made the right decisions as if the answers were whispered into his ears. (news flash, they were.) Thankfully, a group of assistants were put into place to do all of the paperwork because there was no way Yóel was doing any of that. And with the sudden required attendance to some “Utopia Academy,” he could leave all the work to the assistants while he would be gone.

Aura Reading - When focusing on an individual, Altagracia is able to visualize their spiritual aura. While doing so, she is able to interpret things such as their emotional or physical status. However, it is not an exact science; the more she knows a person, the more accurately she'll be able to understand what their aura is showing her.
Spirit Tracing - With everything we touch, a trace of ourselves lingers for a short period. Altagracia is able to view these traces of one's self and can identify them. Intent and personal possession cause these traces to linger longer, allowing her to identify items or places of significance to a person for far longer than their random vestiges.
Personality ↡ Altagracia is fairly even-tempered, if a bit teasing at times. She can come across as a bit passive or aloof at first glance, but usually this means she's attempting to get a read on you. This can lead her to be quiet at times, especially when meeting new people, but is quick to open up if the you mean well. She rarely takes things too personally, and tries to be overall rather patient with people. Even at the height of an investigation, Altagracia can show understanding towards the most elusive of marks. That being said, those who try to take advantage of those traits of hers won't receive an ounce of Altagracia's sympathy once they've been outed. That being said, her curiosity and genuine desire to dispel mysteries can get her in over her head before she even knows it.
Political Opinion ↠ Countries such as Mars and Corthyr interest Altagracia as their reputations for violence and deceit belie their ability to defend themselves. She's always wanted to visit either the latter country or Thah for their bountiful wildlife. The vast knowledge Phronese is purported to have is something Altagracia thinks of in fairly high regard. Gracie is distrustful of those from Chronos, as their potential to alter time itself is quite troubling to think about. In a similar vein, the things she's heard about countries like Funkazan and Winduria in regards to their actions during the war have left her wary of their people. Hyouden is a frozen mystery, one she hopes to one day unravel.

Altagracia was born to the twin heads of Siscia's intelligence council, prolific agents who were both well-renowned for their internal investigations to improve the country's efficiency during wartime as well as their international reconnaissance efforts. Their dedication awarded them a duchy, and they bore a child not long after.
From an early age, Altagracia wanted to be just like her parents. She studied hard day in and day out, moreso than her parents ever could have asked of her. While they appreciated their daughter's commitment, they had no intention of forcing her to follow in their footsteps. They wanted her to have a life of her own, and were concerned that she was being too quick to pick such a life out for herself. But they couldn't seem to convince their daughter of doing much else, so they just did their best to curb her more obsessive traits into something a bit healthier. And for a pair of investigators known for their unhealthy obsessions with finding out the truth, this was quite difficult.
When Altagracia's powers first manifested themselves, however, things quickly began to change.
Gracie had already studied up a great deal on human behaviors. As per Siscian studies, one had to have a great deal of knowledge on the outer person before even attempting to interpret the soul within. At first, the young girl was ecstatic to have an ability that allowed her to better understand both. But as she continued to see the auras of those around her, she started to uncover hard truths of the human condition she was not yet prepared for. Almost always were people being dishonest, whether to other people or to themselves. What their soul cried out for and what their words spoke for could be so drastically different sometimes. And even in small, minuscule ways, there was an angle beyond their actions which Altagracia grew intensely hyper aware of.
The child knew of deceit, but was unprepared for the sheer magnitude of it shown to her on a near-constant basis. Even with her own parents, she was able to notice things she wouldn't have otherwise at that time. Uncertainties she'd never noticed were now laid bare. For all of Altagracia's life at that point, she thought there was always an objective truth to all things.
She thought her parents were unflinching pillars of truth. But even in them, even in the most ardent of people, their auras told stories far separated from what their mortal shell attempted to convey. Altagracia soon sunk into a depressive episode, and her family were unsure of how to best handle things at first. But then they decided they would do what they did best: they'd perform an investigation, this time on their daughter.
During the exercise, the pointed out various things Altagracia herself would do that defied her prior notions of truth: saying she only studied for 2 hours when it was actually overnight, saying she didn't eat the last cookie in the cookie jar when she most certainly did, and a myriad of other examples with varying levels of seriousness. The purpose of this was to illustrate that no one lived an entirely, objectively honest life, not even Altagracia herself. This was simply human nature, that of constant contradiction. From the minuscule to the colossal, the human shells they were given to interact with the world in could only do so much to express the infinite breadth of possibilities the soul contained. But this was ok. While there may not be truth in the sense that the young Altagracia had envisioned, there was still truth enough that knowing it was important nonetheless. And while no one was perfect in that regard, that made discerning wrong from right in regards to truth all the more important.
The investigation was a success, and Altagracia recovered emotionally from her distress. Still, the experience left a large impact on her. No longer did she have an all-consuming desire to follow in her parents footsteps. Instead, she spent a few years taking her parents advice to figure out who she was before she chose what sort of life path such a person would want for themselves. Gracie took on a variety of hobbies at this time, and though only a few stuck it she found it important to herself that she gave as many things that even remotely interested her a fair shot. She became more sociable around this time as well, finding it easier to empathize with others now that she had a better understanding of the shades of gray that all people lived in.
When Altagracia next came to her parents with a life path of sorts, they were surprised to find her career path unchanged. However, this time it came from a genuine interest to serve the truth for the sake of her people as opposed to the idyllic world view her younger self once had. She began her studies on investigative work once more, and while bouts of overworking still occurred they felt much more focused in intent. In this sense she more closely mirrored her parents now, but her methods differed; while they handled things in a more procedural manner, Altagracia was more inclined to use her powers to intuit things hers her parents would need to use more traditional methods to uncover. Conversely, she had a knack for being far more meticulous in her handiwork than either of them were on their best days.
After getting the opportunity to assist her parents on a few cases, Altagracia yearned for the opportunity to head an investigation all her own. That was when an invitation to Utopia Academy arrived at the Sarmiento family's doorstep. There were already whispers about the legitimacy of such an establishment as well as its ability to deliver on its mission statement of ensuring further peace between the nations. Altagracia's parents got a glimpse of their child's younger self as she immediately jumped at the opportunity to attend. With their blessing, Altagracia enrolled with the goal of uncovering as much as she could in regards to the intentions of both the school and her fellow students.

Enhanced Self-Awareness - Maverick is able to detect most to any changes to his spiritual composition, from his mind to his energy levels. He has trained this so that he is able to extend that somewhat to his physical being but is still limited mostly to his mind.
Cords of Fate - Maverick is able to see what he calls "cords of fate" that string one person to another and is able to read the situation to manipulate things the way he wants. He doesn't get the whole situation from this, naturally, however if the cord is red, it's a strained connection, if the cord is blue, it's a stable connection and if it's pure white, this is a new connection, and things haven't been set in stone yet. The lighter the color the newer the connection, alternatively, if the color is darker, it's an old connection that has been nurtured. If he ever comes across a purple cord, the relationship is mixed and will be a more unknown for him. He is only able to see these if he focuses hard enough and doesn't see them in every-day life.

Maverick is cocky, self-assured and confident. He holds a high opinion of himself and likes to live while enjoying himself, even at the expense of others. He is highly manipulative and enjoys turning the situations against other people or in his favor, bonus points if it's both at the same time. He tells just enough about himself to make people comfortable around him while holding his closest secrets to himself. There isn't one person in his life that he's been entirely open with, and he doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon. Despite all of this he sometimes feels regret for his actions, only making up for negative side effects of his actions by taking care of his sister. He sees a lot of things as a challenge, if taking someone down will raise his status, he'll do his absolute best to see it happen. He doesn't like to take no as an answer but concedes when he knows he'll lose the situation, only to go at it again later when he's in a better position.
Political Opinion ↠ Maverick doesn't have any particular enemies; but he treats his political stance on if he can manipulate the situation he will. Maverick was born as the only child to the Rossi family for many years. He never once yearned for a sibling as he got all the attention, and he even had someone close to him who he treated much like a brother of his own. The oldest son of the Saverio family was born a few days before him and their fathers are brothers; meaning he had a very close cousin who he often went and got in trouble with between learning how to make his own name. He received the best education, training and even was taught how to fight in case he ever had to make a name for himself in that manner, but he would rather not have to resort to it. He stood witness to all of the bizarre death's that his other cousins went through, never once questioning why they happened. He always knew that Yoel had better luck than he did, that much was true enough when they went out gambling and drinking the night away. This is where he practiced and got his manipulation tactics down to a science, making sure he knew exactly what to say when, using his charm and often times Yoel's charm to his advantage although never choosing to use them against his cousin.
Maverick has paid special attention to how those around him dress as the years go on and because of this he has made sure that he always dresses his best because he noticed that you get more respect that way, most of the time. He negatively judges those who do not dress their best, even if it’s a small situation and one could get away without dressing up nicer.
When he was 16, he was told that his mother was expecting a child. Initially he was upset but then thought things through and realized that he wasn't going to truly be threatened because of the age gap. He attempted to keep distance between himself and the new member of the family, but the little girl quickly wrapped him around her finger, even if he still refuses to be completely honest with her. He has sworn to make sure she remains safe and will be arriving to the school late because of his refusal to leave before his sister's birthday celebration that she wanted him to be at. There was a little push-back but eventually his parents let it happen, and he is excited to see what has already happened at the school that he missed. However, likely for the wrong reasons.
He is happy to see his cousin again, after a little time of separation, and cannot wait to pull some strings to cause misunderstandings for his own amusement.
