Finding Sumika had ended out being harder than Mayumi had expected, having asked around casually until she learned of the woman store/apartment.... however she had apparently missed her by a short margin of time when she did get there. Though the statement โshe was riding her big Pandaโ made spotting her not a particularly daunting task. Using the fact she was a ninja and the fact panda walk along the ground Mayumi used height to spot out the Panda woman, finally noticing the bear and its master entering the academy a ways off. By the time she had reached the academy Mayumi had relented to hungry and withdrew her bento, letting a smile slip as sheโd been looking forward to eating the contents. With chopsticks in hand Mayumi ate while she wandered the halls in pursuit of Sumika, finally discovering the woman and her panda in one of the training grounds with two Uchiha, one was the one sheโd seen who had just been promoted.
While placing a shrimp into her mouth with her chopstick Mayumi would tilt her head, spying the fact that Sumika had certainly changed since the picture from her file must have been taken. The horns on the womanโs head small or not, were pretty noticeable and likely the main thing that made her think the changes were significant. It wasnโt anything she really felt like giving any deep thought considering the woman was older than in her picture and people change.... though not many got horns. She wandered over to the one she define as the cutest of the lot, that would of coarse be the Panda which she would gaze at for a moment while eating with her flat expression, pulling out a piece of sushi from her lunch and plopping it in her mouth followed by a blink of satisfaction as she chewed. Turning her attention to the actual people as she swallowed the delectable mouthful, placed her chopsticks carefully into her container and waved a hand in greeting โHello there, I am Mayumi, how have you all been doing today? Also hey Kai, congratulations on becoming a chunin! Who is this Panda, may I pet it.โ She said in her usual pleasant and soft voice toward all of the others, sounding gentle and polite but also appearing a little distant, possibly because there was little actual discernible emotion displayed audibly or visually besides when she inquired about Cobalt.
Looking between Sumika, Cobalt and the two uchiha as she spoke Mayumi was contemplating how soft the pandas fur might be and whether or not to relay the invite to the white blonde in front of the others or if sheโd ask her to the side for a moment to do so. The main reason behind deliberation was the impression the Sumika may or may not be unreasonable about the whole matter, Mayumi wondering what would be best to get her to go and not temp her unreasonable side. It was like she was required to convince anyone of anything, she was just simply relaying a message.... just it sounded to her like Sadayo would really like to move past the difficulties preventing the meeting and simply speak with Sumika of something that likely held importance, especially considering she wanted to speak with her with everything else going on in and around the village at the moment. While the cogs of though turned lazily, the forefront of her brain was on using her hand to continue eating her lunch with a touch of visible enthusiasm as she cycled between her bentos different options.
Behind the fuming form of Sumika, Cobalt made a surprisingly high pitched whine, to which the woman rolled her eyes. "Yes, I can see that they're Uchiha." She said under her breath, pinching the bridge of her nose as the panda grumbled again. "I don't have a choice! Pigtails has literally not stopped poking through my things since she attacked me! We," she continued, still in hushed tones, putting a hand under the animal's chin and pointing between her self and her large friend as she put her face in front of his, "need this woman to at least leave us the hell alone. One of the masked assholes keeps taking my snack orders and they'll start messing with you at this rate, which means no wandering off to get shoots on your own, no going in the hot springs, no... whatever it is you do in Takijinsei. You get to sit in the apartment. Comprende?" Sumika ended her little heart to heart with Cobalt via a rather pained looking smile in Kai's direction, just in time for another jester to enter the court.
She did her best to ignore the woman who suddenly arrived to take an interest in Cobalt, that was until she realized that this perfect idiot was munching on food in front of a giant panda, who was now eying the bento box from which the tasty tasty shrimp she'd just munched on was sourced. "Hey, uh, you probably wanna-" Sumika was cut off by Cobalt making an attempt at the box as Mayumi looked away, eager to get at the remaining food. "... be careful around Cobalt. He's very food driven." She finished, deadpan as she wandered over to the bear, positioned herself back against him as he continued to seek the box, and toppled him with relative ease, before flopping on top of him. Her hand slapped the ground next to him and a bamboo shoot sprouted a moment later. "There, shoots. Chill. Every time you nab a bento I have to spend the next 3 hours giving you a tummy rub. They make you feel bad. I know you know they make you feel bad. Stop being a dummy."

Himitsu listened as Kai spoke, his attention locked on him until he stopped midsentence. Following his eyes, Himitsu turned and found the newcomer... riding a panda. The younger Uchiha blinked a few times to make sure he wasn't hallucinating, not entirely convinced until the woman began asking questions. He got to his feet just as she hopped down, helping to accentuate the height difference. Himitsu's eyes tracked over her entirety, then shifted to the panda once more, then finally back to the woman's bag. Various objects jutting out of it seemed to be tools or weapons of some kind, implying she was a shinobi. As if the panda hadn't already done so. But the little puppet arm in particular interested him. Was this kunoichi one of the other squad mates?
The more she spoke, the less sense she made. Himitsu had never thought he and Kai looked that similar before, and what kind of twins combinedโฆ anything? The snake remark made his eyes dart around briefly out of concern for an actual snake since, well, panda. Kai seemed to move past most of the oddity, and more or less confirmed Himitsu's suspicions of the woman's identity. The woman who was now. arguing with her panda. When that mystery had been solved, another girl arrived. She introduced herself as she ate, which was soon enough interrupted by the panda deciding that it was time for its lunch as well. Himitsu silently watched the scene further unfold in front of him.
When it was finished, Himitsu leaned toward Kai while still watching the other. "Dude... Did you hit me with a genjutsu? What is happening right now?" He muttered from the side of his mouth, still bewildered by the entirety of it all. A few seconds passed before the urge to ask overwhelmed him. He stepped forward slightly, hands in pockets, and spoke. "Okay, I don't know if I'm the only one here that's lost, but what's with you and your... friend?"

I've not been communicating clearly with the others about when Miki will come along for our squad mission, and it was my mistake to keep waiting because I do believe Brooy said it'd be a bit longer and I just never put two and two together that I needed to post!
โOf coarse, youโll do great!โShe said to Kai, Not coming off as terribly concerned about the Panda actually snatching her food, even if the big bugger chose to try and go for the food when she looked away. The verbal cue and sound of Cobalt shifting his body toward her, Mayumi stepping sideways away from the panda Very cute... but no. She thought to herself as she turned her body a faced the mound of fuzz and bounced backward lightly until Sumika toppled him like some non resistant cat being pushed onto its side, her flat expression not revealing how adorable she actually found this. โI apologize for exciting him, I honestly thought Pandas were dedicated vegetarians so it didnโt cross my mind they might be interested in my food. Sorry for any bother I might have caused.... Iโm also sorry for unintentionally teasing you Cobalt.โ Mayumi said in her politely soft but almost toneless manner, though she didnโt sound bored or insincere, eyes flickering between watching the bear begin his meal and toward Sumika keeping him in check.
Turning he attention to the Uchiha pair at that moment as Kai summarized up what he knew was happening her to his junior and address at least part of the genins confusion. โYeah Iโm here for different reasons as I doubt a team with two Uchiha and a Sage would benefit much from my help.... Iโm actually just here doing a simple errand as a favour at the moment. maybe Kai, why not give me a tape(CD?) of some of your material with your autograph at the very least, be a bit better if youโre going to offer it to someone unfamiliar with your talents wouldnโt you say?โ Mayumi said while waving her chopsticks around while gripping a small mix of shredded veggies, placing it in her mouth immediately after offering Kai a shrug and chewed quietly. Despite not being finished with the meal Mayumi would put her chopsticks into and closed the small container of food, placing it inside the carrier bag she had brought with her and withdrawing a small white box with the most exclusive cake shop in the villages logo on the side. Not intimately aware of Sumikas feelings toward or the goings on between her and Sadayo, only carrying the idea there was strain between the two and Sumika likely felt unreasonably pressured or treated in one way or another from the villages upper echelons.... still she could only put together a minor estimate with how little she was actually told.
Rather hoping that any disdain Sumika might feel would not be thrown her way Mayumi strolled up to the woman and her Panda, offering a mild bow to show a directed greeting to be polite. โHello Sumika Iโm here to take up a moment of your time actually, Iโm sorry if you find it an issue but Iโm here to extend an invitation to you as a favour to Sadayo, she would like to speak to you about some things, which I believe are likely important. Im not looking for an answer from you Iโm simply forwarding the invitation so to speak. So please consider seeing her after your mission as it would be really appreciated..... especially with whatโs been happening of late.โ She explained in her soft voice, her dull eyes and gentle tone showing that she wasnโt trying to order Sumika or demand this of her, even if Mayumi had chosen to be direct in her approach. At this point Mayumi extended the hand holding the box with cake, displaying the box of delicious confectionary that any in the village who likes sweets would recognize the logo, this action to grab focus and assist her in moving onto a different subject โOn a different matter, the shop sells a rather limited amount of these cakes each day and I happened to get some pieces, care to enjoy this with me while waiting on your squadMate? You two can have some as well if you want as well, itโs always better to enjoy high class sweets with others!โ She offered with an actual hint of enthusiasm to her near flat standard, Mayumi turning to the Kai and Himitsu and raising her voice to make sure they could hear the offer. It would be really nice if this went nice and easy, Mayumi really didnโt want to have a pointless argument due to an issue that didnโt involve her in the long run, though would go into the matter further if it came down to it.
Cobalt lazily pawed at the shoot gnawing and pulling until it snapped and his prize was retrieved, Sumika absentmindedly scratching one of his big ears as he did so. "Yeah, well, he got a hold of a bento with a bunch of veggies and sushi a while back and I guess he's decided fish is on the menu too. Not that his stomach agrees with his tongue on that one." She said as she lightly bopped the large bear on the nose before hopping up again. Her eyes rolled reflexively at the autograph stuff, which she ignored for the time being. She wanted to tell Kai he could sign her a**, but she was here get Sadayo off her back - speaking of which.
Mayumi gave her bit as Sumika resisted the temptation to engage in her normal indulgences, though she grew obviously annoyed by the whole thing from the second Mayumi bowed. The woman was about to respond when cake made its way into the equation and the puppeteer arched an eyebrow. No one gave Sumika things; well, at least when their relationship didn't involve more perks than a conversation. Cobalt was the last gift she'd gotten from someone she wasn't involved with, and that was back when the Leaf sat where Takijinsei resided now. She rather poorly tried to hide the enthusiasm for the confection as she took a piece for herself, wasting no time stuffing it in her face. Although she caught her previous train of thought mid bite. "Hfey. Don do thaf ta meh in fhe fufure. Teh bowh fhing." Sumika said between chomps, gesturing in Mayumi's direction with her cake as she paused to swallow some of the delicious treat and momentarily sigh contentedly before regaining her composure. "I don't like that. Bowing is for losers like the Hebikage who get pissy when you don't treat them like they're better than you just because they showed up and said they were. I'm not better than you. Any of you. Except Sadayo, and the dumb fox. We're all better than them, even you lot and your creepy eyes." Sumika said, obviously referencing the Uchiha she was now to be partnered with as some obvious punishment. She had to wonder what crap Sadayo had put in the younger woman's head to elicit cake and courtly niceties like her task was to coax a tiger back into its cage with the promise of a steak.
She was also quite thoroughly annoyed that this was what months of harassment, the snake outright saying she was worthless, and numerous explicit threats to her life manifested as. A summons, an insistence that she continue to do all the work required to repair something she didn't break. Sumika'd experienced nothing that suggested Sadayo had actually processed anything that she said. The village was still doing stupid bullshit that put everyone in danger, she was still being spied on like a dissident - an act made even more galling by the fact that rogues seemed to have more routes into and out of the village than the sage's rats. And what could Sumika do about it? Everyone already treated her like she had half a foot in the door to the asylum already; if she started suggesting the Hokage attacked her, the JUEI stole from her, and she was being surveilled at all times of the day they might just push her the rest of the way in.

Himitsu continued to watch the interaction between Sumika and Mayumi unfold, still dying to understand the panda connection. When the sweets came out however, Himitsu's interest in the animal was forgotten, and he happily took a small piece of the treat Mayumi offered. "Thank you, Mayumi!" With his sweets in hand, he took a seat on the ground once more, looking up at the others.
He listened as Sumika began talking about snakes again, finally picking up what she meant and who she was referring to. He'd never met somebody with such contempt for the hokage, let alone a village shinobi who did. The sudden and apparent disdain for the Uchiha caught him almost just as off-guard. "Creepy eyes...?" He dejectedly mumbled to himself, taking out a kunai from his pouch to check his eyes' reflection.

He declined the cakes, since he'd hate for Miki to show up and see him eating cake and think he wasn't the super serious sensei he was meant to be. She didn't seem to just be a 'screw this, screw that' kind of punk, but he wasn't sure what her experiences were and she seemed a little too standoffish for him to ask personal questions. "Formalities aren't my style either. But is it, er, productive to think like that?" His face twisted as he tried to recall all the terms the vice principal had walked him through when assessing student attitudes and affective filters.
But those lessons were so stuffy. He felt like his own brand of inspiring people through his music and his optimism worked better than those psychological models. "But hey, if we're better than the Hokage, we should have an easy time collaborating on this mission, huh?" He put his hands on his hips and looked between all the ninja around him. "I would like to see your sage arts in action, and I think Himitsu and I might - eventually - change your opinions on our eyes."
He leaned over to Himitsu and shook the kid's shoulder for a moment. "You look good, she's totally jealous," he whispered.

Speaking to the hokage was the highlight of Miki's day so far. After just a few moments she was branded a genin of the village! Not only that, but she managed to sneak her way onto a team of other shinobi. Thankfully the hokage didn't force her to go through the academy which was a huge relief to the girl, but something else loomed over her from her conversation. "Your team is mostly comprised of Uchiha, like yourself." The words radiated through Miki's mind. What if they find out I can't use fire ninjutsu and they make fun of me?" Miki found herself thinking more and more the closer she got to the academy. "Wow." Miki once again found herself somewhat in awe of the buildings in Konoha, particular the academy itself. What was likely mundane to the rest of the shinobi in Konoha was an amazing sight to Miki. She wanted to explore every part of this village, but for now she didn't have the time. The girl had to refocus on finding her team, which seemed to be a mission all on its own. After asking a few of the shinobi where she could find a Kai Uchiha, she was pointed in the general direction of a group of three shinobi. Two of which seemed to hold the normal Uchiha characteristics.
Miki had only arrived when Kai was mentioning something about changing the other girls' mind about their eyes. It seemed rather odd to her, but she didn't pay it much mind. Much of her attention was on this nervous feeling she felt in the pit of her stomach. Why was she anxious about this meeting with her teammates? It almost felt like she was starting her first day at school all over again. "Excuse me, but are you Kai Uchiha? I'm Miki Shiratori! The hokage sent me here and said I might be able to find you and the rest of the squad here. I'm sorry I'm late to the meeting, but I had to speak with her about those nasty people that attacked the village. The girl blurted out with so much as a breath between words. This was something that she tended to do when she found herself caught in place of both excitement and anxiousness. As she spoke, it gave her some time to examine the shinobi she was talking to. Both of the boys seemed to be younger than her and the girl was older from what she could tell. Kai must have done some impressive things to be a chuunin at a young age. Of course a lot of shinobi started when they were much younger than Miki, which was something she hadn't really taken into consideration. It seemed to be equally as normal for an older shinobi such as Miki to be just starting out. It seemed like a good group of people and all Miki really hoped was that she would get along with all of them. I'm very excited to meet all of you and to get started on our mission!" The girl would say before pointing her finger up toward the sky as if she had an idea. "Oh! Right!" The girl smiled and bowed to her teammates. "Ha! I knew I wouldn't forget.'
โQuit while youโre ahead.โ The puppeteer suggested in response to Kaiโs questioning of her distaste for formalities. Sumika was about to continue when her sagely senses afforded her a bit of warning of the incoming attack. Not that it could have prepared her for the chaotic barrage of words that the final member of the squad launched into immediately. Sumikaโs face was obscured by a hand in a half-hearted, but fully exasperated, attempt to disguise the absolutely mortified expression on her face. As the hand slid down she shot Mayumi a look that suggested the woman would be better off simply leaving now that the summons had been delivered.
The genin had not expected to pull an assignment that was actually commensurate to her skill level when she showed up here, but she also didnโt expect to be put in a squad where her peers, and the person in charge, were about a decade less experienced than she was. Maybe as the complimentary element of a group of chunin, or basically playing lackey for some jonin. This though? Sumika hadnโt been in the Academy since the UHV was still a force to be reckoned with; since her crappy apartment was somewhere up in the overgrowth that was now Takijinsei. Sheโd fought in proper wars, lived through the village she was standing in being leveled around her, wandered the world. She couldnโt have possibly felt more out of place. The lack of this experience when it should have been offered to her, when she was the rest of this squad many years ago, did not feel like it was a gap suddenly being filled. If the goal of the assignment was to make her feel like part of the village, then certainly the faint sensation that she was turning into a bobble-headed curiosity in real time was not the intended effect.
If she had any respect for Sadayo she might have appreciated the exceptional display of pettiness the past weeks represented. At the moment, however, it was just immiserating. Sumika didnโt have a wealth of self-respect, she wasnโt above making a clown out of herself, but she did have it and it felt like the Hokage was trying to find the point at which sheโd break - an unwilling experiment the less prestigious puppeteer was not particularly enjoying being a subject in at the moment.

Part 1: Abstract
This social experiment was conducted in an attempt to test the efficacy of traditional methods of coercion on atypical subjects. Sumika โTroubleโ Uzumaki (surname adoptive and typically unused) was chosen as the focal point for this experiment for several reasons. She possesses a rather substantial lack of respect for most authority figures and a general lack of motivation to engage in activities beyond basic grunt work that are typically seen as vehicles for growth in shinobi social circles. As such her advancement in village status overall has stalled beyond the point at which she was deemed too skilled to remain in the original Konohagakureโs academy program. She has remained a genin since, both in Uzushiogakure and Neo-Konohagakure, with very few remaining personal ties to the village beyond on again off again relationships with non-shinobi members of the village. Over the course of the experiment we applied various methods of direct and indirect coercion, including but not limited to: covert surveillance, purposefully non-covert surveillance, disruption of mail, sabotage of real estate investments, direct threats, indirect threats, explicit insults, demeaning assignments, withholding of high level research materials, and various forms of defamation and slander. As of the time of writing this paper, our results are inconclusive.
Part 2: Methodology
I basically had the whole village be an a*****e...โ
Cobalt, perhaps sensing her dissatisfaction but mostly just having finished his snack, rolled back up onto all fours, ducking from his standing height comparable to Sumika to weasel his head under her arm; an act that seemed to summon her attention back from whatever wandering thought had stolen it away.
โSo, whatโs the mission?โ The woman asked, doing her best to set everything else about this situation aside for the moment and get it over with. โWalk some dogs? Pick up trash? Stand in front of a fancy vase?โ She tapped absentmindedly on the point of one of the small oni horns on her forehead, doing her best to try not to seem terribly invested in the task at hand; a defense mechanism as she figured out a way to corral her desire to leave immediately and start antagonizing the first JUEI thug she came across. Or hell, reversing the roles of hole and office in the scenario that had kicked all of this off to start with. It wasnโt like she hadnโt already spent a decade doing meaningless tasks around the village in between the times they actually felt threatened enough to deploy her like a hammer. What did it matter if she was doing it alone so she could afford some crap instant soup bowls like she had to after coming back here, or with a group of fledgling mindflayers biding time until they gained the ability to turn the contents of her skull to soup simply by meeting her gaze?
Deconstructed Essence: When custom metal armors, weapons, and items are successfully reduced to iron sand by the deconstruction ability, the jiton user is able to retain [1] of the custom abilities of the original item in their iron sand for the duration of the battle. Up to [3] custom abilities from [3] separate weapons can be obtained in a single battle.
Kakumei no Hono Ryu: techs treated as spiritual in strength for collisions
Flame Breathing Pattern: Defend against an activation without using an activation once every 3 posts. Status: Active
Fluid Movement: Techniques used for a blocking, countering or evasive action have their cost reduced by 5 stamina per rank of the technique.
Whirlpool Walking: In the Deflecting Stance, the user can deflect a technique of their body rank or lower once every three posts for no activation, still requiring the stamina/chakra cost paid.
Move As Water: Techniques that target multiple opponents may now have additional reserves paid in order to strengthen the effectiveness of the individual attack to the next highest rank.These can be paid individually, not requiring chakra or stamina to be paid for every split technique.
Riptide: In the Weak Stance, the user may perform 4 activations in a given post. In the Strong Stance, the user may perform an additional offensive activation each post. Each additional technique costs an extra 20 Chakra to perform and must be either basic combat or come from this Style.
Sen Gekiretsu Nagareboshi: All Simple techniques in this Style are treated as Complex when interacting with other techniques.
Unwavering Balance: Any techniques below the user's body rank cannot knock them over.
Dual Elemental Charge: Able to charge Sen Gekiretsu Nagareboshi with an extra element for [ 10 ] chakra.
Magnet Release: Jiton users can freely convert the earth and their Doton techniques into any magnetic material that they can control for [5] chakra and no action cost.
Mayumi was generally pleased at the enthusiastic consumption of the cake, a little disappointed in Kais refusal and offered a โYouโre welcome.โ to Himatsu. Sumika clarifying what she had attempted to say was a bit appreciated as it had originally been gibberishโฆ. though she didnโt agree with most of what the woman said to her. Still she wasnโt up to debating viewpoints or declaring Sumika as wrong, clearly having some reason to feel justified in these beliefs, Interestingly blunt about them even if totally lacking respect. Mayumi simply offered her light smile and nodded to show she was paying attention, her eyes not betraying any sense of dismissal or judgement as she did. โIf thatโs how you feel I will keep the bowing thing in mind for next time I meet you, maybe we could meet up for snack or something and chat some point after your missionโฆ.. this isnโt related to anything official in case thatโs a concern, I donโt know many people around my age and itโd be nice having someone to go eat sweets with who clearly enjoys them as much as myself.โ She said with a tad more of a casual note to her tone, her stated reasons legit, though hearing her elaborate on the things she was saying was another personal goal, Mayumi curious as to why Sumika might feel that way.
Mayumi would plop a piece of cake into user mouth gently, letting the chocolate and icing melting on her tongue. Her clear love for sweet things would be revealed as her dull face lit up a satisfied look of sweettoothed bliss, a light pitched noise of satisfied enjoyment escaped from her after swallowing as Miki arrived. Mayumi caught Sumikas look and almost looked disappointed but decided to take the hint, packing her things away swiftly as she threw out some final words โWell now youโre all here I shall go, next time you make a tape Iโll grab one from you Kai, good luck on your mission, squad leader! Same to the rest of youโฆ Sumika, I hope to talk with you sometime after your mission, see youโฆโ She said with a slightly more projected voice, clicking her fingers with her empty hand as she neared the end of her sentence, the last words stretched and echoed along with the click for a few seconds as she vanished from everyoneโs perception through genjutsu and took her leave through the academy unnoticed and undisturbed.
Kai's whisper to Himistu snapped his attention back away from his squinting reflection. "Huh? Oh... Cool, thanks." He grinned at his team leader, put the knife away, and got back to his feet. He noted Kai's comment about Sumika's sage arts, something Himitsu clearly must have been misunderstanding. Before Himitsu could finish dusting himself off, another woman arrived, asking for Kai. He quickly finished cleaning his back off as quietly as possible, and turned back to Kai and the new girl. When she introduced herself as Miki Shiratori, he was barely able to keep a wave of confusion from washing over his face. "Wait wait wait wait wait.... Kai said she was Uchiha, she looks Uchiha, but her name's not..." He literally bit his tongue to keep himself from asking stupid questions as they rolled into his head, trying to keep at least some semblance of politeness. He'd never really considered that there could be Uchiha that weren't... well "Uchiha." After a moment he blinked a few times to help push it out of his head for the time being, and refocused. Miki's energy was almost refreshing after Sumika's... entrance.
Himitsu smiled and introduced himself. "Hey, I'm Himitsu Uchiha. It's nice to meet you." The smile was short-lived though, as it faded after Sumika commented about their mission. "Wow... the wisdom of a sage..." The youngest Uchiha said more to himself than anyone else, but clearly unconcerned about whether he was heard or not. As Mayumi said her goodbyes, he turned his head toward her in response. "Bye Mayumi! Thank you for-"
*CLICK*
"-the cake..." Left with just the squad, Himitsu finally settled his attention back on his new team leader. "Ready, captain." He said, his smile returning slightly.

Personal Attributes: โฑโฐโฑ "Remember, keep QUIET." | When channeling chakra to a body part for purely-mobility purposes, Himitsu is able to manipulate it as wind chakra in order to mute the sounds of the motions (clothes shifting, footsteps, rocks shifting underfoot, etc.). Indirect sounds (falling branches, tumbling rocks, kicking up leaves, etc.) are not affected by this.
Kai turned his head to the new arrival and beamed at her. Another Uchiha! He waved a hand dismissively in the air about her reasoning for being late. "Not a problem; we were all here getting to know each other while we waited. It's really good that you spoke to the Hokage about those Jashinists." He knew it was a hard topic of conversation, especially around leaders trying to take their squadrons out for missions. Who knew when they'd be the next subject of a Jashinist attack? It was a dark thought.
He broke out of his spell when Sumika asked about the mission and he perked right back up. "Well, we have two choices! We can break up a dog-fighting ring or we can chase down a thief. Both are in need of some attention, and will take about the same amount of time. Whatever we don't choose will go to the KPD. So, let's have a show of hands - who prefers to take down a dog-fighting ring?"
He looked around his team and hoped that this method would be helpful for their motivation. He'd read that intrinsic motivation and agency were improved when students could choose what they were going to learn or do. That theory was difficult mumbo-jumbo most of the time, but he'd picked up that much.

"Oh right Jashinsts were their names... they're mean people." The woman would say to Kai, now having some more time to get a full look at the other shinobi she was on a squad with now. The other Uchiha seemed pretty typical for the most part for an Uchiha and didn't seem to be getting along with the other woman who was there, but at least both of them seemed eager to get going with the mission. Perhaps there would be more time for Miki to get to know the others during the mission. After all, it appeared that she had missed her initial chance.
"There's a dog fighting ring? That's horrible. I say we take care of those guys! How could they do that to those poor animals?!" Miki was almost heated just from the mention of the dog fighting ring. Animals and any sort of small creatures were things that Miki felt naturally inclined to protect, so this mission fell into something she would likely even do without her going with the squad. Miki's hand would dart up as Kai asked who wanted to go to the dog-fighting ring. "I'll teach them a thing or two about messing with things that can't protect themselves." Miki nodded to herself confidently, holding her hand in the sky until Kai would ask them to put them back down. She could only hope her teammates would vote the same way as she.
[ Just a note that Sumika has been respec'd, so no Oni horns in the future. That's the only thing that'll change visibly when we get out and about. ]
Well, this was about what Sumika expected when she showed up. If she cared about the Uchiha child's sarcastic remarks it didn't show. The kid's opinion, along with those of most of the rest of the world's, didn't really matter to her. She was more concerned with the fact that neither of these tasks seemed like anything resembling a challenge - though chasing down a thief seemed significantly less so than the other one. Plus, there wasn't a moral reason to justify dog fights, and the puppeteer could come up with dozens of excuses for theft depending on who it was from; though she doubted her present company would share that perspective.
While her new squadmate's unveiled displeasure at her presence didn't bother her, it did still irk her that these were the choices. It kinda felt like a slap in the face to finally give in and go along, and be put in a group of people with a doujutsu that had been used to try to kill her almost every time she encountered it and asked to do a mission she'd normally take on solo while the village at large focused on the more pressing threat posed by the Jashinists. She'd been joking about the dog walking and whatnot, but her complaint had been that no amount of going along ever put her in a better place. It was becoming harder and harder to accept the assertion that this would change with simple persistence when she'd been doing the same grunt work for a decade Sumika didn't have to lend a hand to the vote however, as Cobalt plopped down unprompted and raised one of his big paws. "Guess I'm following his lead."She said, gesturing at her big furry companion. "Don't worry bud, I'll let you take a bite out of the bad guys. Just try not to overeat." The woman added with a little smirk as she poked the bear in its big round stomach.
