Melody gestured at her own name tag before placing her hand in his, not to shake but to offer it for whatever, she took no liberties there. "Melody Bell, a pleasure to meet you.. Land?" She wasn't sure she heard him correctly. Land was certainly an unusual nickname, even when your actual name was Arland. At the question, she looked thoughtful. It wasn't an easy question to ponder over unless you already have before and unfortunately with such a limited time frame, she was forced to blurt out the first thing that came to mind. "I guess I'd be the secretive type. Not really out in front of everyone all the time but emerging from the shadows to save someone from harm and my powers would be... shape-shifting. I think that'd be cool. Turn into animals and objects. You?"

At least he wasn't alone on the whole not knowing crap about superheroes or powers or anything. “Eeerrr.. Really if it's not a popular superhero I couldn't tell you s**t about any of them let alone any of them riding horses.” Sid thought about it for a moment, he never really had put a lot of time into it before mostly because if he had powers he wouldn't use them to save anyone. “ I can't say I know who Morpheus is either, so let's just roll with the idea that he is one then. Dream control is definitely interesting power.” He paused again, leaning back on the cushions. “I would have to go with speed, like the lightening guy who runs around so I could do things super fast and be anywhere I wanted in the world in a matter of seconds.”

Okay, maybe that could have gone better than it had. But, he had, apparently, made a new friend? Maybe? It was hard to tell. The guys tone of voice hadn't really matched the look on his face before he had wandered off, and Tommy had stared after him, rubbing at the back of his head, when the dates had switched. And suddenly he was being addressed by somebody new. His attention snapped towards the girl in front of him, eyes lowering to her name tag when she gestured towards it, and he smiled, and tapped his own, while also saying. "Tommy." He was then silent, unsure what to say. His eyes went back to the whiteboard, where instructions were apparently given on what they were to talk about (he'd totally missed that earlier). The words scrawled there...He could read them, of course, but that didn't mean he understood. "Superpowers." He repeated, slowly, hesitantly, before saying, mostly to himself as he attempted to puzzle it out, but loud enough for Luka to easily hear. "Superpotenze?"

Oh thank ********>, she was allowed to maneuver herself away from the hobo-nerd as quickly as ******** possible.
Well, well, well, this was definitely an improvement.
"Hey." She smiled, giving her new partner a once over. "Well, not to start with, but things are starting to look up."
Just as Cee had turned to look at the new prompt, so did Dottie, and she scoffed out an incredulous laugh.
"Seriously? What childish bullshit is this?" She shook her head, but smirked when she overheard what Cee had to say.
"Ya, I could see it."

To be honest, Gretel knew nothing about art of speech. Most of the time it was thanked to another person that conversation worked. "Is it necessary to be that surprising?" She didn't read comics, occasionally she might see one or two through the television. Her knowledge was as shallow as Spiderman, Batman and Superman, to name a few. She frowned as he continued his shocking tone. "I'm not making fun of him, as long as he has some traits that are admirable - to begin with, my definition of superheros is someone who possesses special powers and regarded as admirable figure in ethical aspects." The mist trainee gave a serious face when she elaborated. She didn't like the hunter, talking to him was like wasting time to break a wall with your fist - infeasible. She found it no reason to be that exaggerated, not one person in this world could be omniscient. It was like if she asked him technical terms in MMORPG such as anicancel, DoT, Crowd Control, kite, PUG; she bet he won't know most of them. Gretel had decided if the guy refused to coorperate, she would keep quiet until the third round up. He wasn't someone important that she required to please him by all means.

"If that's your definition of superhero's youre missing out. Quite a few of them have special powers, whether innate abilities or through gadgets, and they're crappy people if you ask the general base. Tony Stark, Logan, god at least half the X-men honestly. Hell the Hulk is a superhero and he's awful half the time." This is why he didn't get into comic conversations with people. He didn't like dealing with it if they didn't know what they were talking about. If it wasn't a subject you liked what was the point in talking about it? You either ended up sounding like an idiot or like you were trying too hard. "Aquaman is king of Atlantis, breaths water, talks to marine creatures, can control water. I'm Samoan ... water is sorta my thing. It just fits."

It seemed like by the time they'd even gotten introduced that time was up and she had to wave and nudge the guy organizing all of this. "Tommy doesn't speak great English. You should help him out by letting him stay in one place." She was trying very hard to be helpful and almost missed her next partner. Thankfully this was a very familiar face and had her throwing arms around him in an exuberant hug. "Henry!!" Drawing back as fast as she had gone in she held out the tupperware. "Brownie? And yeah, I'm having fun but...superheroes? I'm Starfire." Wonder Woman was more like her mom. Starfire was kinda different, could fly, had neat glowy eyes, and could shoot beams from pretty much any part of her she wanted. Yeah. Definitely Starfire. "What about you?"

In the one minute that passed, Gretel felt like sighing for a second time. The woman leaned back and nudged her glasses. "First of all, your definition of special is too narrow. Second, when I say they need to be not crappy? I just said they had to have some traits that are admirable, you're too assertive. Or you think most people's idea of superheroes are those typical models?" Either way the guy was just too arrogant in his way. The mist trainee felt annoyed, they couldn't even start something meaningful because he thought she understood nothing. Learning is a life-long process, that was something she always believed, knowledge is eternal existence. She'd never consider any information useless when she didn't know. It only made her vexed when someone tried to stop her from learning due to one's assertion. As she wanted to suggest they could be silent and wait until ten minutes passed, the hunter finally went back to their topic. Learning something new immediately cooled her down, "I see, the ocean does have a unique charm. I'd like to have mind-reading ability at this moment, since knowledge - information is a valuable treasure." Gretel didn't forget the task given even she wasn't in a good mood.

Oliver sat down squarely on an unstable pile of cushions and nearly toppled over. "Um, that sounds like it would be pretty neat. I... haven't really thought about it too much, we sorta have some super hero powers already like the healing and some resistance to injury..." He chewed on the inside of his lower lip as he thought it over, and then his expression brightened. "Not having to sleep would be pretty nice," He said with a smile. "It takes too long having to go back to my room and sleep, but people give me grief about napping at my desk while data is being processed... And you could have shorter missions out in the field if you didn't have to take the time to sleep."

Luka's smile was tentative, the warmth slipping as she waited for him to say something back at him. Starting to get a little nervous she fiddled with the hem of her long shirt as it draped across her thighs. Nails scratched at her legging as she watched the boy.
At least names were out of the way.
Sitting still while he looked to the white board was harder than she wanted to admit but she did her best. Several times Luka's mouth opened and closed, a question on her tongue only to clamp shut when Tommy finally spoke.
Her immediate reaction was to nod, ready to ask him about the kind that he liked and then-
Oh.
Tommy was ESL, possibly, and things seemed to click into place pretty easily.
"Sì, sì, super potenze. Parla italiano?" Maybe that was a silly question but it would help her to figure out if she heard him correctly or not.

"Well if we can extend the ability, maybe touching someone to pull them into my own timeline as I manipulate it would be ideal. I find it could be useful for being at places when I want to be there at the most ideal time, correcting any mistakes, but I'd be pretty selfish as well. Just imagine a night you wanted to last forever and extended it for a week. Leave would be for months. If I had full control of all the details, I'd like to not age as quick as well in order to not show up a year older when I go on leave because I decided to expand my time off island for a few months." He said with a grin.
"Could take someone on a very long vacation." He pointed out.

Lysander nodded. "Guess that would be handy." he said in regards to the super speed thing, it sounded like effort though so certainly wasn't for him "I prefer to not have to go above a jog though, running really fast isn't my style." He had other people to do that sort of thing, generally speaking. "Dreams would be fun though I think, I could change things and whatever and not even need to move. Maybe it would be like Inception too where I could plant ideas in people's heads. Ideas like give Lysander some fast food. That would be amazing."

"My hat would blow off all the time if I was really fast, so I couldn't do that sort of thing. Fashion first, efficiency second. Though I would love to have a really clean house, I always end up with fabric and clothes ******** everywhere." He looked as innocent as he could manage as he went on. "Well, I mean some of those super villains had a point." He shrugged. "I mean some of them might have had really good reasons for things, they might even have been really charming. Good looking too." he caught himself. "What I'm saying is...yes. I guess."

Seren couldn't help it, no touching rule or not... She wasn't going to let the young man fall. She reached out, ready to catch him. When he didn't actually fall, though, she settled back on the pillows. "Careful... Your next few companions might be unnerved if you show up with a bloody nose or something." She nodded, and said "Yeah but... we still get hurt, so not being touchable might prevent that. I don't know... Maybe it's an odd choice but it works for me." She shifted a little, almost like her back hurt for a moment. She blinked a little, curiously, nodding again, thoughtfully this time. "I could see how that would be useful... But sleep is so awesome. I'd hate to miss out on some, even if I could. I love the feeling of cuddling up in bed under nice warm blankets, and drifting off to sleep. Bonus points if there's some one to cuddle."

"It's okay, all I'd hit are more pillows" Oliver replied with a wry smile, nudging one aside after another until he was sitting more or less in the middle of a pile. "I hadn't thought of the intangibility like that, it would make missions a bit easier... Especially if you could choose which parts of you to make intangible, or if intangible also meant invisible." The freckled young man scratched at the scar on the bridge of his nose. "I usually have too many things to think about when I'm trying to sleep, it's a little stressful if I'm not already too exhausted to stay up longer..." Not to mention nightmares and occasional bouts of insomnia, natural consequences of the sorts of things they experienced in this line of work. "I-I've never had anyone to cuddle with though, it's n-not uh... something I should factor into my, um, considerations..." Oliver was less confident with this turn of conversation, if his earlier shy state could have been in any way regarded as confidence.
