November, 2018 Student name: Reina Prompt: Gymnastics Lessons Response: Gymnastics? Reina's tail wagged behind her as the teacher went over what their activities would be for the day. Even getting to wear uniforms special for it, which once donned, the Grimm and many others of her classmates snickered at the weird material. Leotards? Even just saying the name had everyone snickering and laughing. It was weird. Were they leopards now? Some of them certainly began to do renditions of meowing or roaring like the feline, before the teacher called them back to a semblance of order.
They first began to stretch, leaning over to touch their toes, rotating their arms in small circles, stretching their legs and doing little butterfly wings with their bent legs. And then, the real stuff began! Reina watched as an aid with the teacher showed them some tumbles and small routines they wanted the kids to work up to. Immediately, the young Grimm was awestruck and giddy to try. It looked so… pretty! And fun! She joined up on the starting line with some of the others and stretched her arms up, and right leg pointed out in front of her. Following the aid's instructions, she pushed her weight forward onto her right leg, arched down into her upstretched—outstretched?—arms and… tumbled! It wasn't graceful as what the aid did, sure, but she did it! Reina gleed and with some of her other classmates began to see how many tumbles they could do, working bit by bit into the routine of tumbling forward, and then bending their legs with their hands at their ankles, forming butterfly wings again. A simple routine, sure, but as Reina watched the ease in which some of the older students moved with their more advanced and elaborate gymnastics, it was a spark for her.

November, 2018Student name: Bledid Prompt: Gymnastics Response: Bledid could not keep his thoughts where he wanted them, at first he looked at the foam pad's and pushed down on one with his claws. Bledid watched as it sprang up back into place, as he listened to the instructor he heard the word leotard, Bledid had seen many times what gymnastics uniforms was like in his books, he thought they looked weird and never wanted to even wear one. Bledid decided he was going to wear his normal gym clothes of a shirt and shorts, he didn't think all his fluff could be contained in a leotard anyway. Bledid shifted uneasily about the leotard, and he hoped his teacher would not mind if he did not participate in wearing one, he fiddled with the end of his shirt as he started to practice. Bledid started stretched first sitting on the floor and touching his toes, then he stretched his back and arms to make sure he would not go stiff when he did some exercise. Bledid tried the least hard one he thought the balance beam, as he tried it out he slipped a couple of times catching himself, Bledid kept practicing until he no longer slipped on the beam, by the end of class he was happy to have accomplished something in the class, he hoped to eventually try the rest of the activities.

November, 2018Student name: Evelyn Prompt: Gymnastics Response: Evelyn loved doing gymnastics, but she did not like listening to her teacher. While he teacher was trying to get her to do a specific move, Evelyn decided she would rather do summersaults around the room. After she practiced her cartwheels instead of stretching, until her teacher finally gave up trying to get the Fey to listen. The teacher went back to helping the kids who were listening and Evelyn rolled onto her back and put her knees by her head to watch them upside down. Gymnastics was much more fun when you got to do what you wanted instead of following a routine. The little Fey did end up joining the class for their last, exercise, however. Evie wanted to learn how to do a handstand so she went along with the rest of the class to try and learn.

November, 2018Student name: Ila Prompt: Gymnastics Response: Ila was a super shy girl. While one little Fey was being chased all around by the teacher, Ila quietly stretched by herself, hoping they wouldn't get paired up for anything. No such luck. The teacher came back with a huff and immediately split them up into pairs. They did stretching, yoga, and spotted each other during twists and turns that could be harmful if done wrong. Luckily they were still at beginner level so it was pretty difficult to do the moves incorrectly. Still, Ila hated having to be spotted by someone else; she wasn't limber and she just kept falling. She had a sneaking suspicion that everyone was laughing at her as her side hit the mat again. Finally class was over and the dryad couldn't be happier. She ran out the door to get home. She'd rather roll around in the dirt for gardening than rolling around on foam mats for no reason.

November, 2018Student name: Julie Prompt: Stamina runs Response: Ugh. Running? Again? Julie loved PE class, but she hated running. She cast a jealous eye at the other side of the gym where the Freshlings were having fun tumbling around. That's what she wanted to do. Or yoga. Instead, she was running. At least they were allowed to count their own laps; Julie was not going to count a lap as back and forth. Once she hit one wall, that was one lap. Over and over she bounced across the gym, getting hot and sweaty. Finally it was over. "Thirteen laps." She reported back to her teacher. The Grimm girl panted heavily as she made a bee-line towards the water fountain. Hopefully they did something a lot more fun next class because running was hard work. She was definitely not a runner. Nothing left her this winded; not yoga, not tumbling, not skating or biking. Just running. The girl finished her drink, put her back to the wall and slid down to sit for just a minute. She needed to catch her breath.

December, 2018Student name: Aisling Prompt: Gymnastics Response: Aisling wasn't very lithe or limber. Her wings didn't help her become any more graceful than her fellow Freshlings and while one tail might help to keep balance for some Nightmares or Daydreams, two seemed to cancel that out rather than double her balance. Before she even started her exercises, she found herself staring at her fellow Freshlings. The older kids got to run around and work on their stamina, but she and the other Freshlings had spent the better part of the class stretching. The gymnastics part of it, with the high bars and the trampolines had come later. Aisling didn't take to it as well as she had hoped.
"Pooka would be better at gymnastics than I would." She told her pale doll, whom she carted around with her everywhere. She was speaking of the bright green Pumpka that she took care of in her dorm. With a great sigh, she tucked in her wings close to her body and placed her doll a few paces ahead of her. Just one somersault, she told herself. Besides, if she messed up, maybe she would land on her doll, rather than the floor beneath. She had fallen before and she didn't like the soreness that came with it. However, she reasoned, her doll was so squishy and soft, they were bound to be a softer landing than the rest of the floor. If she just did one somersault, she thought on more, she could tell the teacher and maybe go back to Pooka early. She couldn't wait until she was older and would be able to take an elective about familiars. She would much rather be doing that now, then trying to do a graceful gymnastics routine.
Pushing with her legs and stretching her hands forward, she topped forward into an ungraceful heap against her plush doll. Her horns were a little sore, but she shrugged her shoulders. She'd count that. It was... well, it was something and today, something was good enough for her. Getting to her feet and picking up her doll, who didn't look at all flattened (as though it were magic! she thought) she began to shuffle towards her teacher and try not to get knocked over by her other classmates in the process.

December, 2018 Student name: Yaara Prompt: Stamina runs Response: Oof. Cardio was something that Yaara had been sort of slacking off of late. Taking care to braid up her long hair as she watched the first group starting their run, the Sluagh had to fight from outwardly grimacing. She was plenty flexible from her fondness for yoga and stretching, her dancing helped some too, but just sprinting or jogging seemed just terrible. When it came time for her group to go, off she ran, counting a trip to the far wall and back as one. The first wasn’t so bad. Of course, that didn’t last long. The next two trips grew increasingly worse until the fourth and her final trip. She had slowed to a barely there jog, really more of a brisk power walk. Upon returning that fourth time, she doubled over, hands on her thighs as she huffed and puffed. Between gasps, she grumbled about how dumb it was but that she should probably work on it at least a little bit.

December, 2018Student name: CiderPrompt: Stamina runs Response: She made it five times. Five times around the gym before the hybrid utterly collapsed and had to just sit against the wall to catch her breath. Cider really wasn’t a fan of physical activity…it wasn’t her forte and she just…wasn’t good at it. She enjoyed writing and reading and running…was just far too much effort.
Though…now that she thought about it…she had just run twice as much as her old record had been…and this time wasn’t the count from your wall and back? So wasn’t this honestly…more than twice as much as her old record? This was ten of the old laps she had run when she was younger…so this was…four times as much as she could do before…if that wasn’t improvement…then she didn’t know what was.
When Cider finally caught her breath she leaned against the wall and couldn’t quite stop a smile from spreading across her face. She had done good…though hopefully this would be the last time she would ever have to run laps again.

December, 2018 Student name: Jin Prompt: Gymnastics Response: Write a short 150 (or more) word story about your kid doing gymnastics.
Jin stared at the mats in consideration. She was part bakeneko so that meant she had some balance and agility but she was also part litch and they weren’t so well known for their limberness or moving that fast. However the teacher wouldn’t like it if Jin just picked staring as her activity and she figured, well she kind of knew the mechanics for a cartwheel. Getting a small running start she attempted her first cartwheel only to kind of fall flat and crash horribly. With a pout she sat there and watched some of the other students.
They were struggling as well so it didn’t make her feel too badly. However they were still trying so she would do as well. She got set up and went into her run and cartwheel and managed to pull about six off although by the end she was kind of curving into a pattern. When she was done, the world was a bit shaky and she was all shaky but she had pulled it off.

December, 2018 Student name: Vanhi Prompt: Gymnastics Response: Write a short 150 (or more) word story about your kid doing gymnastics.
Vanhi stared down at the leotard and pulled on it again, she wasn’t sure she liked it too much. She liked tight clothes but not this type of tight. Still every one had to wear it and at least this type of activity didn’t really call for much talking. Stretching was important so vanhi got in to position. She didn’t want to accidental pull anything. Stretching all complete, she looked around to see what activity to do. There was one involving balance and flexibility but with her wings, vanhi didn’t think that was such a good idea as it involved kind of laying on some one’s back. So maybe she could do the yoga portion of class.
Following the movements as best as possible, she was a little stiff not being able to fully go all the way and a little bit shaky as she fell a couple of times, but it was something she could world on in future classes, and well no one was perfect. Well most everyone wasn’t perfect. In all it was just a p.e for her. Better than swimming.

December, 2018 Student name: Leto (junior) Prompt: Stamina runs Response: Write a 150 word (or more) story about your kid running through the gym
Truthfully Leto wasn’t really that athletic of a person, or at least he didn’t really think of himself as one and when he was it was more standing still coordination like throwing and the like. Being half litch, running wasn’t his best sport as he did have some of that slowness pitches suffered from. so of course today the teacher comes out to tell them that they have to do laps across the gym. Sure Leto could probably pad his numbers by only counting a lap as running from one wall to the other, but some how it just seemed unfair and like cheating. Oh well there wasn’t much he could do about it.
He began running making sure to pace himself as it wasn’t a competition or at least not one he knew he could win. Suprisingly he did better than he thought he would managing to pull in 12 laps. Nothing world shattering but good enough for him. Now he was just going to sit on the bench and recover his breath.

December, 2018 Student name: huginn (junior) Prompt: Stamina runs Response: Write a 150 word (or more) story about your kid running through the gym
Huginn rubbed his temples as he walked into health class. He was really hoping today was more of a health discussion than a physical activity day. He was running a little late since he had to stop at the nurses office for headache medication. So to his dismay when he walked in students looked to be stretching in preparation. It was official the universe probably hated him today.
Still he had been raised under the notion that a school assignment was still an assignment and he would give it his all. Suddenly however the gym looked a lot bigger than it normally did. Wel he would just have to do this carefully. He started out pacing himself and running his lap by counting one full lap as going to one wall and then back. However eventually the pounding in his head won out and he had to eventually call it at eight laps. It was his best attempt but it wasn’t his worst either.

December, 2018 Student name: oiche (senior) Prompt: Stamina runs Response: Write a 150 word (or more) story about your kid running through the gym
Oiche couldn’t help the face she made of utter dislike, after all she hated running. Probably due to her litch blood. She had pretty good stamina but lately she hadn’t been getting enough sleep and she was coming down with a cold. Yeah definitely wasn’t going all out. So knowing she wouldn’t be doing that much running, oiche decided she was going to count a lap as from one side to the other. Luckily it looked like it was one of those days that if you just tried you got credit, so she lightly jogged back and forth from one side to the other. Unfortunately after about three laps she began coughing.
Considering it a sign she should call it for today, she made it over to the bench. She would just bump her grade with the next extra credit assignment or health test. Ugh she really hated running, had she mentioned that?

December, 2018 Student name: Oran Prompt: Stamina runs Response: Write a 150 word (or more) story about your kid running through the gym
Oran was not doing peachy, she had been running late for class when some other kid in the hallway had ended up slamming into her and they had both tumbled onto the ground. Oran landing on her ankle funny. Considering how much it hurt she should have gone to the nurse’s office but she was running late for class and gym was already her weakest class. So to her dismay she found out it was running.... there was a slight twitch to her eye but well it wasn’t like she could change the assignment.
She started running and made it maybe half way, that being from one side to the other when her ankle really started hurting. Today just wasn’t her day, she kind of limp ran the other half of the lap before deciding that she probably needed to talk to the teacher and see the nurse. Maybe she could make up the lap another day but hey she had participated.
