Never one to miss the opportunity, the God of Chaos peeked into the busted ballroom and smiled. Such destruction. And even better, mortals and her favorite toys were gathered. Curious, because it wasn't Venus Chaos season. The gathering may have caught Eris off guard because she wasn't expecting anyone to be here.

Quietly, she chuckled and disappeared.

---

A few long pink translucent feathers floated in the air above Aglaia's head, slowly falling to land at her feet. These were unlike any feathers the Goddess of Beauty currently had. These were her old feathers longer and shimmery.

---

Grey smoke slowly slithered towards Pothos from under every broken pillar. It gathered, encircling him. Small purple tentacles of dust and smoke slowly rose from the circle and reached for Pothos' ankles.

"The Cherubs were guarding them..." Phaenna went quiet and almost mumbled her next words. "One of the Cherubs went missing that night. We didn't even find a body...."

The words that came out of her younger sister's mouth shocked Phaenna, enough for her to gasp and drop her spear. "Seneca...." Phaenna dropped to her knees as she placed her hands on her sister's shoulders, worry was written all over her face. "You should have told us sooner...." The poor girl..Sitting on this information for so long...Phaenna wrapped her arms around Seneca and hugged her tightly.

The blue angel started to speak again but Phaenna had not let go of her sister. "I don't know, maybe someone was...." She closed her eyes and thought about it. "There were a few mortals that spoke to mother that night and Artemis...But you'd have to ask Mother about what they spoke about....Right now no one is really speaking to Mother while she'shaving a fit though..."

Haku felt something bump into him. Or someone. Swirling on his attacker, he drew his plant closely to his side in a protective gesture. Noticing it was another pae that was neither attacking or smiling unenthusiastically at him like his feathered penguin, he relaxed his snarl a little and focused on her words.

"Cherub? You mean those little flying dudes? I was looking for them as well. I had one in my grasp but he managed to give me the slip." he admitted.

"I don't want to be here either..." Pothos said softly under his breath so that only his sister could hear. He about half begged to go home and hide with her, he was done being here himself. This was enough chaos for him for one night. The mortals and everyone else left could figure it out.

He cast a side glance to follow Aglaia's gaze, sighing deeply before returning back to his sister and rising to his own feet as well. And then he saw it.

Long pink feathers, beautiful, translucent and shimmering, falling from the sky above, right in front of Aglaia. His breath caught hard in this throat, feeling like he had just tried to swallow a large stone. His mouth opened and closed but no words came out. His hand rose slowly, trembling, as he pointed towards one before it hit the floor at her feet. Shaking his head, he began mumbling to himself. "No..no...no..no..nonononono." he grasped his hair again, pulling hard.

Stumbling a few feet back he noticed the smoke. Slithering from every single broken pillar like snakes hunting their pray. They all began to circle him, gathered together, releasing purple dust like tentacles. "No! NO! NO!" he began to shout, near about tearing the hair from his head as he danced from foot to foot, trying to ward off the tentacles now reaching from his ankles. "YOU CAN'T. ERIS! I TOLD YOU ALL IT WAS HER!" he suddenly began shrieking, the rest of it incoherent nonsense. He grabbed anything nearby he could get his hands on and lunged them into the shadows around his ankles. "NO....NONONONONONONO! I REFUSE!!!!!!" he screamed at the top of his lungs as he darted forward and latched onto Aglaia.

Sweat dripping from his brows, his eyes wide with panic, he clung to the only person he thought could understand him the most right now and it took all he had not to shake her into oblivion.

Summer tilted her head to the side as she tried to figure out what was going on with this Faun and his pointy plant friend she sighed as she straitened her head. "Same thing happened to me a while ago. My name is Summer nice to meet you." she said as she put out her hand. "But then some of them got killed so I not sure if it is the best time to question them." She rubbed her head. Who could have gotten there hands on the arrows who was not a god.

She noticed the smoke coming from the pillars and going around one of the gods. "Do you see that?" she asked the foul as she pointed at the smoke. Had some one set a fire. No it could not be a fire the smoke was purple and being controlled it looked like.

Haku quickly looked toward the area her finger was pointing and let out a hiss. That was definitely not good. Something malicious looking had come to play. He was beginning to think that his logic was erred. He needed to find that giant turkey and make her his dinner for the trouble she had caused him. But then again, she'd prolly just give him food poisoning. Nothing that pink and gold could be good for anyone's health.

Turning back toward Summer, he suggested something simple. "That would be our cue to hide?"

Pothos hadn't added to the finger pointing, so that was as much a silver lining as she could expect at the moment. She agreed with Aglaia on one thing, her sister shouldn't be here. Even so, it didn't seem her place to suggest such a thing. Instead she stood silent guard over her siblings eyes searching for anyone fool enough to challenge her. Pheanna was held up by another mortal with questions. Honestly, did it seem they had all the answers and just hid them?

The arrow Mayu brought in looked like "Artemis?" The question was a low one, had someone else found one of the Goddess's arrows? This was not her doing so how did it get there.

At first she'd missed Eris' appearance. With so much chaos and harmony around her the balance was too far tipped. Even the feathers hadn't been noticed until her sister's panicked voice grabbed right at her heart. Whirling around in a golden cloud of skirts the Goddess of Harmony looked on in horror. Eris was NEVER supposed to do this! Never in her wildest dreams did she expect the true level of Chaos the Deity could pull and the cruelty she could inflict.

"Pheanna! Hemiros! We have to get them out!" Her favorite brother wouldn't likely listen, probably think this is theatrics on her part. Just maybe Pheanna might be willing to over look everything else to defend their tormented sister.

Daughter of the God of War she may be, but it would be a lie to say she was unafraid. Pulling her voice out of whatever box of moxie she had hidden, Harmonia called out "Eris stop! Leave my siblings alone!" Without a thought to the consequences, she stepped forward walking with a purpose into the purple smoke. Maybe she could break the line and free her brother, or influence it in some way. Soften the blow or interrupt it from its target was about all she could dream of doing. Sending her skirt flying around her legs she attempted to put herself between her wounded brother and sister. The could not be made to deal with this again.

It was arrogance to think she could even hope to challenge the woman whom had once been so close to her. They were tied beyond friendship, at once bound by a spectrum both were a part of. Arrogance kept her from shaking, so it would have to do. At this point just distracting the Deity in hopes that back up could arrive to rescues Pothos and Aglaia was all she really hoped for. Shoot for the moon, as the mortals say.

Lillibeth never trailled far from her sister as she tried to answer, "The feathers used, dove stands out but there were so many. Either someone is trying to frame the Children, or ..." Her words trailed off, could it be true. Were several of the children planning to harm their mother or kill to protect her? "Are there more Erotes that we don't know about?" Couldn't be, could it? Aris was about it was possible she could have birthed to match Venus. One set of mostly benevolent erotes was enough, another set running a muck was more than the isle could take!

Staying silent during her sister's interaction with the cherubs, Lillibeth listened. "Just what were you hunting Kyle?" What hunted the chewed cherub?

Before she could say further her sisters took off. Mayu was right, this was the worst time to be away from their Lady. This was a job for the mule and he'd be put to work when she returned.

Once back at the party she whispered to her sister after the question was posed, "Mayu, doesn't Artimes use silver arrows?" Silver arrows and hunting, all they were missing were hoof prints.

Then a figure to drain her blood cold appeared, Eris. "Mayu.." Her tone was shaken out of its melody as she all at once wanted to go in a dozen different directions. Did they challenge the Goddess? Evacuate the Children? Send out he Mortals crazy enough not to run? Too much lead to indecision as she depended on Mayu to give her direction in this matter.

pelagious couldn't help it. s**t had gotten way too weird. He couldn't stand it anymore. Goddesses popping out of nowhere. Murder. Feathers and attacking purple smoke. Little blue angels of glorious curls having crazy a** fits. He did the only thing he thought possible.

He opened his mouth and let loos a wail that could rival a banshee and promptly ran for cover.

Tassos nodded after gathering that bit of info. He sighed, noting to ask someone perhaps closer to Venus.

Seneca seemed to melt a little in Phaenna's embrace. Though she quickly went Rigid as Pothos began to panic over something. That's when she saw it.

Pink feathers, drifting down to the floor...

Purple smoke, reaching for Pothos... Wait... reaching for him?!

Eyes went wide and her wings acted before her brain. She darted forward, aiming to grab onto Pothos' wrists!

"Hang on!" she half whimpered.

Her heart was racing, panic all over her features.

Mayu looked to the side at her sister as she whispered a name to her. Mayu nodded slowly, bringing the arrow down to eye level and looking it over. She'd always been more interested in what everyone was wearing compared to what they wielded- call it petty if you must, but that is what Mayu was more interested in.

She'd have to ask someone who knew for sure. Either way this could be a good start- or someone attempting to misdirect them. It seemed as though a lot of that was going around. Perhaps it hadn't been a good idea to have so many investigating at the same time. It felt like everything was getting a bit muddled and unsure. Perhaps at least one of them had a straight answer for them.

She was shaken from her thoughts by the sound of her sister's voice as well as the overall feeling and sounds that were starting to fill the room. Her feathers lifted up off her body in fright as her eyes landed on Eris. She had yet to see anything of the creature she'd heard so many tales about, but she'd never wished it. For a second Mayu was frozen in an attempt to figure out the best plan of action. She didn't want to run for Venus' room in an attempt to protect the pink beauty and give her location away. At the same time it seemed the target was her retinue and not Venus herself.

“We need to be careful.” Mayu warned, laying a hand on her sister in a protective manner. This Eris being wasn't someone to mess around with. “I am going to move closer to Venus' room, but not in a way to give her away. Let us leave it to the retinue for now. They have dealt with her in the past so they would know better than us, but be prepared if they need us.” With that she gave her sister an encouraging smile before slowly making her way around the room, keeping an eye on the purple being.

Selah slunk down the wall to sit next to her companion. "Yeah....it was fun to try to solve the mystery, but, uh, not so fun when it kinda comes to life." She shuddered and ran a hand through her hair again. The tiny cherubs' sobs echoed in her ears. They had been so playful before...who would kill a little fairy like that?

She was convinced that the killer was here now. Surely anypae depraved enough to murder an innocent creature like a cherub had to be the killer. And suddenly she didn't care to find out who it was.

Wait, was that a kitten?

"Uh....yeah, actually." Maybe petting the soft thing would help soothe her frayed nerves and its mewls would drown out the sounds in her mind. "What a wonderful thing to be able to summon," she said, trying to be cheerful and forcing a smile. Clearly Luminita was even more disturbed than she was. "We can leave if you want," she agreed. She wouldn't mind getting out of her either.

As the shadowy tendrils began to form and dissapate, inching for Pothos, there was one thought in Luminita's mind.

Nope.

Moving herself to be pressing rather firmly against Selah, she wimpered before making a distincly different hand motion and producing another kitten. It, too, was an Abyssinian, but it was a slightly different hue than the one moving to fall off of the angels head; from the same 'litter,' most likely. As the first one found itself again in her arms, nuzzling the head of the second, she separated the two to hand the second to Selah. "Here you go... Kittens make things less scary... Most of the time, anyways. I have a lot back at home in the city, but that's cause one I make them appear, I can't make them disappear. I always forget that."

"I have a Chausie and a Nebelung and two Singapuras and a Snowshoe. They keep me company. I also have a lot of mixed-breed strays."

Glancing back to the chaos unfolding and then to Selah, she nodded. "Yeah... Let's go now? I don't wanna die."

Quietly, a figure slipped through a shadowed, deserted hallway. Noises from a nearby hall. Screams. Was that it?

Could it be?

Pace quickened with pulse. Close, so close. Could feel it. Had to be here. Somewhere. Just had to find it. Elusive quarry, cornered at last...

Ugh, distracting pain...darkness at the edges of vision. Blink it away. No time. Focus!

Have to keep moving.

Don't get distracted now.

So close.

Could feel it in the thrumming of blood through veins. It was close.

Just a little further. Towards the noise. That's where it would be. Amidst the noise.

Find it.

Destroy it.

*****

Watching the first figure stumble from the hall towards the Pae'il gathered in the main hall, a pair of brilliant eyes blinked from what appeared to be nothing more than...living shadow...

Panic was stirring in the ballroom, separate from her two initial targets. How delicious!

Having disappeared from sight earlier, Eris reappeared high above the ballroom, perched and sitting sideways against one of the pillars near the ceiling. She had a good vantage point here, watching the little pets skitter around below in a tizzy.

Hee hee...silly little ants...

*****

More screaming...it had to be...it was close.

Another sharp jab of pain...it had become a pulse, growing the closer she got. She just needed to finish the hunt, then she could rest. Just a little longer.

Her steps faltered, stumbling briefly as her vision darkened. She steadied herself with a hand on the wall, dark purple blotting out most of her range of vision. As it started to fade....there! A swift movement! Her prey!

Damnable Naga.

Snarling, she wrested herself away from the wall, fist tightening around her weapon. She wouldn't lose her prey this time. It was heading towards the ball room, panicked, raised voices confirming she had the right spot.

No escape this time.

*****

Ah ha ha! This was working out even better than she could have hoped! The pink princess' hapless crew was blundering about as usual, and her two old pets below seemed delighted to see her again. What a wonderful, ear-piercing introduction from the blue screeching one!

The swirling smoke seemed unimpeded by the goddess trying to block it, splitting into multiple tendrils to zip around Harmonia and close in on Pothos. Eris' voice carried easily throughout the ballroom, seeming to come from just over Pothos' and Aglaia's shoulders in particular. "Oh...did you miss me, little dears? Don't worry...I'm always around, just out of sight..."

The most fortunate part of her not-planned plan was coming together nicely. She could feel her getting closer...almost here...just a bit further...

Ah...there she was...

"I've brought another friend to come play with you all. You are playing some kind of game here, right?"

*****

The pain was nearly unbearable, making her head throb and her vision swim. Through it though, she could still see the damned snake...wait, snakes! Oh, by Dolandor...there were more...so many of them...mixed in with the crowd of Pae'il. Some seemed to shimmer, becoming Naga--wait...could they do that? No...could the snakes shift forms?

She skidded to a halt, hooves scrabbling on the marble floor for purchase. She paused, unsure for a moment, vision swimming again. No, it was a trick! Had to be! The Naga were hiding among the Pae'il! Snarling, she drew her bow, steadily aiming into the crowd...
