It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."It had been a while since they heard from their rivals in the group established by Mino, but sure enough a group of spies had tried to infiltrate the Kingdom again, only to be rooted out by the sound intelligence of the red-haired girl that had been in charge while Haruto was gone. Now, upon his return, they had tried to break out of their encirclement and attack the King, but failed when his Lucifer had simply swatted them into the ground so hard the cyanide capsules in their back molars nearly shattered.
...Fortunately, they were too unconscious to crush those and die like a good spy before they could be pumped for information. He would turn them over to the girl, also his new spymaster, to interrogate before he made a final judgment on their punishment for the crime. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all...""Another Spore, but this one's on the border...Zaou-Gongen, check it out," the King had followed a lead from Cocky Leader to another remote location in the Kingdom where a Spore had been rumored to have landed, but when he had arrived to see how the toxin might be spreading (if at all) he instead found that it mysteriously hadn't exploded yet. Sending in his demon to investigate, it was near the spore that Zaou-Gongen had waited, poking it...until at last it sensed someone nearby and exploded on the spot, killing his devil!
"It's a TRAP!" the realization dawned and without even considering the meme (totally...probably...don't judge him!) Haruto called out his warning and had his party pull back before they were caught in the expanding radius of the toxin. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."It hadn't been quite so easy to return to the capitol as it had been getting out to the remote site, but only by a little bit...demons of even a fairly high level like this Python that confronted him weren't as big a threat as they could be. And when he traveled with his entourage of guards and soldiers it was even less a threat...but sometimes he needed to remind his followers that he wasn't a helpless or idle King...that he could fight and win fights that the rest of them might even back down from. Not that they were in any danger of forgetting his heroic win against the Septentrione Phecda, of course. That had been a moment for the ages.
He just sincerely hoped, as he destroyed the Python and motioned for his retinue to follow on again towards their home, that 'ages to come' wouldn't turn out to be a matter of days. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."You could hear the music all the way out in the street beyond the gates of the Capitol of Haruto City...no, scratch that, you could feel the music all the way out there in the streets! A deep, thrumming beat that filled the air and pounded its way into your heart, thump-thumping like a wild man hammering his fists over and over into the coarse skins of a drum! And as you traveled closer you could hear the electronica and techno music growing in intensity until at last the doors opened and it was practically rocking your eardrums, bright lights flashing (flash-light colored but you had to improvise in an apocalypse) throughout the arena in strobes and lines. And when you turned the corner into the main theater...the Throne Room as it was now called, you saw the source of all the chaos.
"FLASHLIGHT RAAAAVE!"
In order to please the God of Destruction (and dance), Shiva, Haruto had decided to throw the biggest Flashlight Rave Dance Party that Harutopia had ever seen! Everyone in the Country was invited to come and join the dance that would be going on all day long! And on the stage right now doing a rather sexy dance (albeit without touching as he was half afraid Noelle would show and tear his head off at the moment) with the red-haired, buttoned-up interrogation specialist that was looking quite sexy unwound as she was right now. And as the hips turned and rolled smoothly the crowd of survivors went wild for it! Forgetting, if only for a little while, that just beyond the walls the world was slowly ending...

It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."The buttons had been coming undone...the hips were beginning to find a rhythm that crossed over from somewhere in the realm of 'very sexy' over towards 'considerably indecent'...and it could be said without question that the King of Harutopia was getting very sexy to the delight of the females in question in the Kingdom...his red-haired bombshell intelligence officer included. And yet before he could really get into the heart of his impromptu striptease dance routine and make a play for the attention of the demon Kama as the other rumor had implied was possible, something filled his body with a power that coursed through him...and made him want to dance even more amazingly than he was before!
"I am Shiva, God of Dance. ...Not THE Shiva, but...A Shiva...you know how it is, right?" the voice spoke inside of his mind, humming pleasantly and assisting in sharpening up his already-crisp dance move to a fine precision, "Your offering has earned my attention, and I wish to lend you my aid. In continuing your dance party..." Haruto liked where this was going... "And destroying the horde of Ganesha charging at the gates of Chag-ri-la right now." He nodded along with the voice as he moved to the muse...
...s**t.
"K-thanks guys! I'll be back in a minute, keep on dancing!" the King commanded as he realized the threat Shiva had just saved him from, the speed granted to him by the Hindu deity sending him out the door and to the Gates of Chag-ri-la faster than humanly possible where he laid a DESTRUCTIVE beatdown on the demons before even one drop of Pheromone Coffee had been spilled! "Thanks, Shiva...that was close," he let out a breath as his feet slowly returned to the ground, at last seeing the possession begin to fade but not before a voice whispered one last time to keep it real...and keep on dancing...

 ~Shinpachi Saito, Master of the Dark Persona~"It looks like you've just been struck by...a smooth criminal." Saitou's feet shuffled quickly as he moonwalked down the street, turning on a dime and slicing the demon he'd come across in half with a single strike. Okina was just as perforated with locations where demons ruled it seemed, and upon returning the JPs agents had received word from Yamato that they could rely on Saitou. As quickly as he appeared, they'd begun asking him to complete missions in order to free the populated sectors and the areas near them to stave off demons for a while, and he'd ended up agreeing. He wanted to head straight back to the others, but it was going to be matter if their little reunion was ruined by the crashing and banging of monsters nearby...so yeah, he'd clean up the mean streets. But he'd do it with more style than Haruto could muster. And for just such an occasion, he'd found himself a white fedora, suit, and popped his collar in what was very clearly the outfit from the video Smooth Criminal. And I won't think twice to stick that bar straight down Sancho's throat! Believe me when I say I've got something for his punk a**~" Saitou's demon banished another one of his kind back to their own world as Saitou followed the road leading back to the dorm they were staying at. Thinking about Mashiba had eventually made him think of the ridiculous team leader's singing voice, and after a little bit he found himself humming one of the songs that Mashiba seemed a bit more fond of than others. It wasn't like Saitou himself was particularly attached to it, but just thinking about it made him want to give it a try...and he was definitely better at it than Mashiba, that was for sure. Maybe he needed to propose being the lead singer the next time Haruto brought up his 'Punk Experience', in order to get under his skin a little further. ...naaah. Quote: Saitou deals with a demon. ~Shinpachi Saito, Master of the Dark Persona~"And I don't ever want to feel like I did that day~ Take me to the place I love, take me all away~" Saitou roundhoused a demon as it approached, using the opportunity caused by the attack to grip it's arm and bend it in on itself, snapping the elbow. Using the battle momentum, he slid behind the creature and tripped the beast, throwing it to the ground with a quick hip toss. As soon as it was vulnerable, his hand shot to his side to draw his blade and deliver a quick slash across it's chest, finishing it while it was completely unguarded. Demons were incredibly strong, but just what that strength entailed often varied greatly, and he found that many around here were simply strong in spiritual or unusual senses. He couldn't beat them in an arm wrestling match, but quickly subduing them was another matter...and so he was trying to preserve his blade for the time being. Saitou ran his hand along the front desk of their dorm, which was anything but in tip top shape. The earthquakes had done serious damage, but it looked like demons were through here fairly regularly as well. The whole thing might have structural problems at this point, which meant there was no choice but to turn to JPs for some safe rooms for the time being. He wondered if their partnership might become a bit more permanent, but still...it looked like they'd be relying on their good graces after all for some time to come. "I wonder if Mashiba already led the others towards the capital building. They should be safe if they're there, and not hiding out somewhere else like an idiot. Saitou summoned his demon as he and a fellow JPs officer located an area that was under significant threat from nearby demons. The area could lead them down a few streets and towards a group of citizens, and so Makoto Sako had made the important decision to deal with them before the demons became a swarm and the chance of casualties increased. They were citizens, so they weren't top priority for JPs, but that didn't mean that they would turn a blind eye on them if there was something that they could do to help. At least, Saitou hoped that was their reasoning behind it all. "Make sure to eliminate them thoroughly, and don't get cornered. Now lets move." The JPs agent nodded, and they both went to work. Demons emerged from an alley nearby with a gust of wind, and Saitou shifted his grip on his sword as he turned to look in their direction, preparing for another strike. He was using a double-grip on his blade, in a proper fashion, but he was also unsure if he might start to get overwhelmed with this many enemies. If only he had a different weapon, like a scythe...tch, but there was no point in hoping for that, for the time being. Besides, a scythe just made him think of his friends, and he needed his concentration for the time being. "Prepare for another fight! No time for rest." Saitou sprinted dead into the middle of the pack, cutting the strongest demon down in a single blow. He had to inspire some fear in these beasts; it was the first rule of tactics when you were outnumbered, and demons were no exception. Quote: Saitou deals with a demon horde. Saitou had barely breathed a sigh of relief when more demons appeared. Luckily he'd just fused a new demon to help him protect himself, but this was all the more ludicrous now that they were being hit with a third consecutive attack. It was clear that if they weren't here, the civilians would have sustained heavy casualties...if they hadn't died altogether. Something seemed off, and Saitou glanced to the side, wincing at the sight of the JPs agent next to him seemed unable to get to his feet. 'Looks like I'm on my own.' He was tired himself, but he wasn't going to give up now. "Nekomata, make sure none of them get through. Hey, JPs...I'll be borrowing this." Saitou picked up a small sai that the JPs agent had been using for self defense. He felt the heft of the weapon, light and quick, and imagined the way he'd be forced to block or parry with it. Yeah...he could finish the demon with this. Every weapon was deadly when in the hands of a master, and that was something Saitou could manage. Quote: Saitou deals with a demon horde. This was already the fourth time that demons had appeared in order to prolong the battle, and even Saitou felt every muscle in his being calling out for some rest at this point. It was like his whole body was on fire, and his lungs could barely keep up with all the oxygen he needed pumped into him, but he couldn't give up. He started to kneel for a bit of rest on reflex, but quickly caught himself and shook head head. He wasn't going to give up until the demons did...it was his honor to protect this many lives, through whatever means it ended up taking! His life wasn't worth a yen if he couldn't do this much! "Come on! Anyone who crosses this line...will die first..." Saitou extended his sword, digging a line into the dirt. The demons seemed to get the message, but whether they came again or not was almost irrelevant at this point. He'd set out on this mission with determination, and if he failed...he could not fail. ~Shinpachi Saito, Master of the Dark Persona~"Last...one..." Saitou sliced through the last of the demons, and looked around at the carnage. There were already specks of data drifting away all over the field, but that didn't stop the bodies from stacking up so high that one could get their legs stuck in the muck of battle. The squelching of blood and bits under his shoes was something he tried to ignore as he finally collapsed for some rest, his task for JPs accomplished. He wondered if others had to face such difficult enemies, but the thought was the last one he could have before his eyes began batting closed from exhaustion, falling asleep amidst the carnage he himself had enacted upon the demons. He'd grab a few Zzs, then go back to base when he was finally recovered. Even the stink of the demons wasn't bothering anymore...a sign of just how use to it he'd become. That thought bothered him, more than most. It reminded him of Yomi, and the actions he'd once taken in order to protect the world...actions that smiling faces like Eido's and Lira's now made him regret.
