He tossed the pillow on the bed and walked to the fridge, grabbing another Ramune and opening it so the pop didn't go everywhere when X opened it. He motioned for her to sit on the couch and gave her the pop. "You're up pretty late. Something the matter?"

"Go ahead. It's better than any other pop. Healthier, too." Light waggled the pop. "Monsters, huh? Let me tell you something, X. Everywhere you go, there's going to be a monster. I can see why my sister would count as a monster but most monsters aren't going to be able to hurt you. You know why, right?""

He looked at her seriously. "First off, Jax and Jaster are both monsters in their own separate definitions of the word. But, yeah... I see what you're getting at..."
Light took a sip of his Ramune and sighed, looking at the ceiling. "So, there's something in the school, eh?" He set his hand on her head and gave her a serious look. "X, do you feel safe near me and Nami?"

Light scoffed and spread his arms. "Do I look like the kind of person to up and leave you? No, in fact, you and Nami. I count you both as my kids, no matter what. Here," He stood up and walked into his room, Light came back with something in his hand. It was a star necklace. "This was given to me by my mom when I was a little younger than you. It's not a normal necklace, just like everything in this place. It has special properties.'Turn out the light and it will glow; if monsters are near, it's shine will show.' Something about providing comfort and warmth, yada yada. Pretty much, it's a safeguard charm. Wherever you go, if you are wearing this, it'll keep you safe. Kind of like the school's invisible shield."
Kurona opened the door and poked her head in. She was relieved to see Light sitting on the couch. "Sorry I'm late... Couldn't find the room. Did you know yours is the only room with a silver handle?" Then she noticed the necklace. "That's mom's. I didn't know you still had it."
"Yeah, I know. She gave you a silver cross and me a star. What about it?" Light leaned over the back of the couch.
"Nothing." Kurona shrugged. "I just didn't think you kept it."
Light smirked. "Of course I did. I still have yours, too, Redfox."
Kurona blushed and a look of surprise and confusion came across her face. "H-hey, I said not to call me that. It's embarrassing." She changed the subject quickly. "So, what're you doing with that one?" Then she noticed X.
"Some kind of present?" Kurona smiled and leaned on her hip. "Did he tell you that stupid story about it's powers? It's only half true. It glows when you're near hostiles and acts as a shield but the shield diminishes each blow and needs enough time to recharge."
She looked up and tapped her chin. "Right, it'll keep you warm, too. Mom was good with spells. Really good"

He ran to the window and swore under his breath Kurona chuckled and stood behind him. "You have a way with girls, don't you?"
Light growled. "Not the time, Kuro. After her. She's not completely... herself."
Light jumped out the window after her. Kurona frowned and leaned on the window sill. "Yep." She sighed. "As stupid as you are, you care more for others. You always have."

X woke up before Nami did. She felt the necklace around her neck and looked at the pendant. The necklace was rather big on her as it went down to her stomach.

She crawled out of bed.

X heard the thud. She summoned in some kunai and slowely walked to the main room. Her feet hurt from the three story fall she made last night, however she didn't seem affected by the pain.

She saw what made the thud, Kurona. She put the kunai down and they disappeared into smoke as she pulled the table away from Kurona so she could get up.
"are you alright?"
