Calvin was surprised as the Seedot did not try to run away from him like the others had, but it had been hurt pretty badly by Victoria's bite attack. But, Calvin was never one to allow a hurt Pokémon to go unnoticed. His mind instantly went to when he nursed Pidgeot back to health however many moons ago. So, he would help this one too. He carried the little guy over to the stump, Lupup and Gible both staring at the Pokémon, hoping that the seedot was alright. Calvin fed it a few of the berries he had picked and started to treat with some of the potions he had in his bag.
It didn't take long for the seedot to be back in good health to at least move on from there. The seedot gladly took the food that Calvin provided for it. The little guy then got up and looked back up at Calvin, and did it's best attempt at a wave without any hands. Calvin chuckled and watched as the seedot faded into the brush as fast as it came. The little guy certainly was lucky that Calvin was a trainer that loved Pokémon and always helped them if they needed help.

Calvin and the two of his Pokémon sat there for the better part of a few hours and the moon had started to recede behind the horizon...and the sun had started to come up. Calvin shook his head and decided that it was time for them all to get some sleep for once. So, dragging them along with him, he went back to camp. "We need some sleep you two. I think we are setting sail for Dewford in the morn," he said, laying his head down on the grass at base camp, Lupup deciding she wanted to take his pillow.

Calvin's eyes opened to all of his Pokémon playing in a nearby clearing, much to his surprise. He hadn't expected Sauron to be up so early, but even he was in the clearing with the rest of his Pokémon. And of course, Ryoka, the mother of the group watching over them like a mother would for her young. Victoria and Ryujin were together yet again, while Sauron, Maverik, and Marcella were playing some sort of game with rocks. He had no idea what they were doing, but it was sure amusing to watch. He didn't even want to disturb them. So, he didn't. He decided to start cooking some food for them so they can actually have breakfast. But judging by the position of the sun, it was probably more like lunch.

Today had to be the day that he would finally depart for Dewford Town...or at least, he hoped. Either that day, or the next. He hadn't quite decided yet, due to the fact that there were still party members that he felt needed training. Victoria was the one in which he felt needed it the most, but he partly believed that because he desired to befriend the Pokémon more than anything else in the world. He had earned much respect from the others. Marcella was his first Pokémon so they already had a bond with each other that would never be broken. Ryujin and him believed that something more than chance caused them to be brought together. Salamence has watched over Calvin since before he was five years of age. So, naturally, there was only Sauron and Victoria left, whom he had spent part of the night training with.
He pondered how he could give them more attention so that he can earn their trust. Because if there was anything that his father taught him, it was that the one way to truly become a great trainer was to gain the utmost trust and respect of one's Pokémon. Calvin's uncle had not learned that until later in his years, which proved to be a little too late for him to become anything beyond an above average trainer. Calvin would not let that become of himself. Calvin was aiming for much higher than that however.
As he finished up the food that he was making, he called his Pokémon over so they could each get something to eat. "Eat up guys. It's all for you," he said, a small smile breaking through the bandages.

While his Pokémon ate, Calvin stood up to go wash the cloth bandages that covered his face. He walked slowly towards the stream that was on the other side of the brush, unaware that he had been followed by Victoria. When he had gotten to the stream, he slowly unwrapped the bandages from around his face, revealing the scarring that had been hid from the world. He looked very rough and the scars still ran deep. Calvin never was going to be able to treat them and have them recover, the marks proving to be a permanent mainstay, much to his dismay.
He ran the cloth bandages through the water gently, scrubbing away the dirt that had adorned it. Calvin found himself hard pressed to move his mouth or nose without a sharp pain being sent through his entire body. It was the reason his mother began to believe he did not feel at all...that he had a heart made of ice after all he has been through. But that wasn't entirely true. Calvin had emotions, but just could not show them like he once did during his early years.
He had been scrubbing for a few minutes when Victoria came out of the brush, crawling up to him silently to finally catch a glimpse of its trainer...for the first time. The Pokémon had never seen his face before and the Lupup seemed a bit confused about what was wrong with his face. "Victoria is confused. She doesn't know how the scarring on your face could possibly occur," Ryujin communicated telepathically, emerging from behind the brush to join them. "To be completely honest, I myself wonder what could've caused it. You've never told me and Ryoka, while able to somewhat communicate with me, will not divulge the details of your injuries."
Calvin looked at his two Pokémon, each of them meeting his gaze with an expression of intrigue and curiosity. So, Calvin told them.

Calvin took a deep breath in before saying a word to Ryujin and Victoria, maintaining the movement needed to wash his bandages. "Okay...so it started with my father, whom was a Park Ranger who lived in Fortree City. You see, it is pretty common for forest fires to be started because of the dense forests native to the locale. And when I was a boy, my own father was caught in one of these unfortunate events, the man dying in the process. From that day on, I grew reckless in my actions, losing myself in the forest's tall trees. Some began to question if I was becoming wild myself, but I was just facing my newfound fear of the forest with the only way I knew how, and that was to immerse myself in it. There were some nights that I would not even come home and opted to sleep in the tree canopy. As the years had gone by, my own mother thought she lost me, removing all the Pokémon I had in my life to get me back, like Ryoka and Delia. The two were constantly out with me to protect me. Little did she know, that this would backfire. I myself was caught in a forest fire almost eight years after my father's death. It was caused by a Pokémon and much to everyone's surprise, my neighbor's Pokémon was suspected to be the starter," he said, taking a moment to pause as some emotion began to well up within him. It was difficult for him to speak about at times, but his Pokémon deserved to know. Both of them looked concerned about him though, maybe feeling the emotion that the subject brought him.
"I remember the flames as they engulfed the trees around me...the feeling of helplessness as it circled around me, like the proverbial hunter ready to pounce on its prey. The flames grew closer, enough to kiss my skin as if it was teasing me. Burns of the second and third-degree all over my body. I began to lose consciousness from the lack of oxygen until I felt myself being picked up by a Pokémon. My last glance before I went unconscious was of a Pokémon. And it wasn't flying, but rather it was jumping. I was in the hospital for a very long time after the event. I was in critical condition after all and Lady Death lingered around me to take me a few times, but I lived. But I came out a different person, for I felt indebted to the Pokémon that saved me. I still have yet to identify the Pokémon that saved me. It was orange and can jump extremely high...and had birdlike qualities without wings," he said to the two Pokémon, vivid imagery flowing through his senses. He remembered it as if it was yesterday. Calvin wasn't one to cry at all and he didn't, but memories did bring up emotions that he hasn't had in such a long time. "Fortunately, my nerve endings were not all damaged and I can still move most of my muscles, but there are places in which I can not feel anything. The scars themselves have become a distant memory of a time passed, an obvious reminder of time when I was youthful and jubilant, the whole world at my feet. How I miss those days at times, but now that I'm here with you all, it serves as its own reminder that life has merely just begun ." Bittersweet conversations like this proved to take its toll on him, but he knew that he would get over the painful reminders of his youth. He personally just hoped that his luck would turn around someday.

He continued washing his bandages as Ryujin and Victoria both watched him, probably trying to comprehend what they heard. Ryujin did not utter a word more about it, opting to remain silent. He most likely felt the emotion that it caused him and knew when it was best to be quiet. But...he wished Ryujin wasn't because Calvin preferred to talk to the Pokémon to get his mind off of things. He stayed there for a few minutes before there was a rustle in the trees and a Pokémon came flying out of the trees, an aggressive look on its face. Calvin himself decided Victoria would be the best for the job...so, he sent her out to deal with it. He got up from his seat, leaving his bandages behind to help command Victoria in battle.

He smiled softly toward Victoria as she was victorious against the opposing Pokémon. He was just happy the Pokémon was getting stronger and stronger each time she fought. Speaking that she was a part of his long term plans meant that she needed to be in some kind of fighting form. However, it would've been hard to use her against the second gym because so far, the only attacking move she knew was bite, but he hoped she would learn the move tackle soon because she could still be of some use to him. He took Lupup into his arms, the Pokémon seemingly a little startled by the notion, but instead of biting him like she normally would, she accepted it. He put her down on the ground, and watched as all the other Pokémon during their battle had flooded into the clearing. They all seemed a bit startled by the scars on his now revealed face, the exception being Ryoka because she's seen them plenty of times.
Calvin took this moment to wrap the bandages back around his face for the time being, the activity being difficult at first, but now it was second nature. "I take it all of you are done your lunch. Well...maybe we can get a bit of training in," he said to them, all of them nodding in agreement, except for Ryoka naturally. She was so relaxed and never wanted to battle unless it was a gym battle. But soon enough, she would realize the other Pokémon were catching up to her and become competitive.

Calvin decided that maybe he would seek out a trainer to battle instead of going against the wild Pokémon of Petalburg area. But, just as he decided to search one out, a lady around his age actually came up to him and asked if he would like to have a battle. The lady was a sight to behold and he would probably be blushing had his face not been so burnt to hell. "Yes, let's have a battle in that clearing over there," he said to her, pointing over to the clearing. "Does a 2v2 sound good to you?" he asked her, to which she nodded.
He walked over to his assigned side of the clearing and thought about what Pokémon he wanted to send out for the two versus two battle. He looked forward to the battle and hoped it went well for him.

Result: Calvin reduces Maractus's attack by one stage to lighten the load that it would take upon getting hit with the peck attack. Calvin then uses a fire attack that proved to be too much for Ashley's Maractus to handle. Marcella wins the round and Calvin wins the match. Marcella gains 7 exp.

Calvin felt a little badly about beating Ashley so handily, but the girl didn't seem to get too down about it. She called her Pokémon back and walked up to Calvin, the former feeling a little bit of butterflies in his stomach upon getting close to her. She congratulated him with a smile but before he could say anything besides thanks and stating that it was a good battle, the girl had departed. He partially wanted to call out after her, but the urge was broken almost as soon as he found Ryujin laughing at him for the feeling. He knew the Pokémon felt it through their telepathic connection and he also knew that Ryujin would never let him live it down. "Shut up Ryujin," he said to the Pokémon, which had the reverse effect on the situation...the Pokémon beginning to laugh even harder.
"Alright, you've had your fun alright?" he asked, shaking his head and watching as Ashley walked away in the distance. Calvin regretted he'd probably never see her again.

To pass the time while they waited to move on the ferry, Calvin treated Marcella's injuries sustained during her battle with Ashley's Maractus. She fought valiantly, but wasn't as lucky as Victoria had been when she flinched Croconaw. So, while his other Pokémon went out and played, Calvin treated Marcella with the Spare Potions he had in his bag. He was sure that with enough care, Marcella would be back in fighting condition in no time. "Are you feeling well Marcella?" he asked his Pokémon with a small smile beneath his bandages. Torchic looked up at him and nodded, the Pokémon somewhat happy that it won a battle.
When he was done, he heard the tree rustle from around him and a Pokémon came out from the brush, ready to battle. He sent Sauron out to help out this time.

Sauron dealt with the poor little Wurmple pretty easily, the other Pokémon fleeing into the forest after it was defeated and driven back. Sauron didn't exactly celebrate the battle however, the Pokémon not taking the wild Wurmple seriously. It just walked back to what it was doing before the battle and assimilated itself back into his Pokémon's leisure time. Calvin himself just decided that he would spend his time with his Torchic for a little while, letting the Pokémon jump over on his shoulders and what not. It was truly a fun time for him.
