If Briar had known that the kid was admiring the stupid mask that he'd been saddled with then he'd have probably offered it to her along with a comment that it wasn't cute, it was stupid but if she liked it then she was welcome to it.
Mind reading wasn't a talent he could claim, so instead he turned and glanced over at her when she spoke to him. "I'm okay" he'd managed to avoid outright collision at the cost of the lolly snake she'd been holding on to and which was now on the floor. "But you should watch it" his voice was slightly annoyed as he spoke to her, but not quite as annoyed (or embarrassed) as he'd have been if he'd ended up tumbling over because of her.
He looked awkwardly at the outstretched hand not too sure what she was expecting him to do with it, it was an awkwardness that was reflected in his voice as he added at her mention of ice cream "It's okay - the choc chip flavour is the best one there" because he liked chocolate chip and although cookies would have been better, the ice cream really was okay. "And they've got a lot of toppings. They've got blue lemonade too."
He frowned slightly as he saw a couple of kids in red masks suddenly tumble over, followed by another kid across the room, the purple mask in her hand fluttering to the ground as she quite literally fell over.
It was weird them just falling over like that and Briar wasn't sure what to make of it as the three kids were swiftly whisked off to the Nurse station.Quote: [Briar: Orange Mask - fainted once] Location: Ballroom 2 ---------------------------------------------------------------- Liryn blinked, his sleepy purplish eyes puzzled as he found himself on the outside of the hotel. How had that happened? The last thing he really remembered was deciding try and find out why all the people kept falling over and making the decision to try and follow the next one that fell over.
Actually that wasn't true - he remembered the sausage and the purple mask he'd been fiddling with and he vaguely thought he remembered hearing someone mutter something about letting someone in, in a fuzzy tired sort of way.
He got to his feet and stretched, come to think of it he still felt a little fuzzy headed but there was a puzzle going on in the hotel - a puzzle involving falling down people and Liryn wasn't about to let a teensy bit of fuzzy headedness stop him from poking his whiskers into what was going.
Okay so perhaps it was more that just a teensy bit of fuzzy headedness and p'raps he was planning to poke more than his whiskers into what was going on but it was the principle of the thing... And there was also the question of the pretty mask - the one with the feathers and stuff that he'd wanted to keep because of the shiny prettiness.
The mask would have to come second though because trying to find out what was up with the falling down people took priority.
Sneaking in was even more difficult second time round, but Liryn managed to do so when a group of late stragglers turned up and was determined to do better at keeping out of sight of the pesky hotel staff.
Peeking out from under a table that he'd slinked under, Liryn contemplated his next move whilst wishing that Orah and Arian hadn't picked this time of all times to disappear off. Of the two Arian was slightly more accessible given that he was out of town rather than a whole planet away but even so the dark-haired teen was still out of town and therefore not able to be of any help.
He'd just have to try and find out what was going on - on his own.[Liryn: Maskless - fainted once]

"A decent time. A very interesting mix of people if I must say." Jasper responded as he went to take a seat next to the woman in pink. She was lovely.
But he did not have long to admire her. Moments before speaking again, Jasper realized the second lady he was spending his New Years with appeared to not being doing so well. This new woman caught it first but was unable to do much before Jasper got his own arms up to prevent his dancing partner from hitting her head.
On a normal day, Jasper would not have dared carried a woman himself. Today, feeling as tired as he did, he didn't even consider it. Ever sense the first group fainted, he had seen nurses wandering around.
Slowly, as he lowered her to the safety of the ground, he flagged over someone to help. She needed more attention that he could give at this time.
As soon as a pair had come to her side, Jasper turned to the other. "What about you, My Lady? Are you alright?" He noticed her phone was out. "Can I assist you at all in finding your date? I am sure he will be able to keep you safe."
Mask- Black
Stump_Fairy I didn't want to mod nurses taking her away so let you do that.
------- Delilah was glad to see he was keeping to his feet. His stumble had her worried but maybe she should have considered herself more at this point. She was drained, like after an all nigher drained. Where had this come from? Had someone spiked her drink?
It was just as she was about to turn towards the lobby and some fresh air that a wave unlike any other hit. "Fritz, I..." Delilah couldn't get another word out. Her vision blurred and her eyes rolled back in her head. In the next moment, her knees gave out and she fell straight into the chest of the man she had been walking with. Had he not been holding onto her arm, her head surly would have found the ground hard.
At the same time, her evening bag began to vibrate. Someone was looking for her as her body gave out.

Ugh, what was wrong with her, Gigi wondered. It wasn’t like she was a stranger to pulling all-nighters, and it wasn’t even close to midnight yet, but she was completely wrecked. The event was exciting, the people were beautifully dressed, but she couldn’t muster the strength to properly enjoy it. Out in the children’s ballroom, Kirra seemed fine and was talking to the other kids. It wouldn’t be too bad to leave her for a few minutes, to go check out the other ballrooms before she was too tired to do anything. The event seemed supervised, and after all, she’d paid to come as well.
Gigi wavered out into the hall, hand to the wall to keep her upright on unaccustomedly high heels, and headed for the main ballroom, the proper fairytale scene. It was indeed stunning. But the gently spinning waltzing couples, the high ballroom ceiling full of lights, left her with a feeling of vertigo which mixed badly with the caffeine headache. Her last conscious thought was that she needed some water. Less than half-way to the buffet, Gigi wilted into an ungainly puddle of baby pink tulle on the polished floor.
She woke to a much less impressive ceiling, with nurses hovering around her. Her mask had been replaced with a cold compress, which did little for the pounding black-out headache. When she sat up, the nurse whisked away the compress, and handed her back the delicate purple mask. She turned it over on her lap, tracing the line of glittering gemstones around the eye hole, the curve of the butterfly wing. It was pristine, none the worse for the tumble. She’d expected it to be at least a little bit bent.
She still felt weary, but a little of the exhausted pressure had been lifted now that she’d passed out, giving her enough energy to think straight, and to worry.
“What happened to me?” she asked, tugging on the nurse’s sleeve when she turned away. The woman gave her an appraising look, like she was about to check for ID. “I don’t drink,” Gigi added quickly.
The nurse patted her hand, reassuring. “You fainted, miss. Don’t worry, you’ve probably just overheated.”
That seemed reasonable, it was quite warm, and there were an awful lot of people – but she’d just had a whole bowl of ice cream in the kids’ ballroom, and hadn’t been dancing or even caught in the crowd. And so many other people were dropping as well, the nurse’s station seemed more crowded than the ballrooms.
“Is this an epidemic?” she asked. The nurse had already moved on to another unconscious patient.

Having Stroud come to meet them with her little toy in tow as gratifying and Cin measured him head to foot with her eyes. She accepted her cheek kisses and returned them effortlessly, the motions well practiced.
"This is Elle, Stroud. You two met at my poker night, I believe, but there was a lot of booze involved and she is done up quite fancy tonight..." She said as she stepped back to let the blonde greet Elle. "I'm only fancy because she is... This s**t went out of style with me a long time ago."
When this Lazarus fellow stepped up to meet her, Cinnabar's eyes trained on him and she allowed him to kiss her knuckles. Her wrist bent elegantly, fingers relaxed, but she never blinked or moved her eyes from the man, even as he too greeted her companion.
He looked fit... toned, but his hands were soft. Granted, her's had lost their callouses after the merge and hadn't built back up, but his were different. Was he one of them too? His mask was black and he was on Stroud's arm... it seemed likely. Delightful... 'fresh meat'.
As Elle turned to her, Cinnabar slid an arm around her and finally took her eyes off Lazarus, offering a reassuring smile to the shorter woman before she turned to head towards the drinks. People were passing out seemed to be the problem on the lips of the other guests, drawing Cin's attention even as it drew Stroud's.
"I wasn't told anything either, which I guess isn't surprising..." She murmured as the general went on, only half paying attention. Her eyes swept the crowd and the ones trying to keep them from leaving, wondering what good she could do. Draining she was good at, crowd control she was not... but Stroud provided her own method of distraction and before she realized what was going on, she had siezed hold of her hair and pulled it ******** HELL, STROUD!" Cinnabar roared as she made a grab for the offending wrist, her face twisting into a snarl. "Have you gone completely insane? Let go of my ******** hair!"
Part of her was angered by the pull, but there was more volume in her protests than was probably necessary. Okay so... she could probably play along. If Stroud was going to get rough, though, she wasn't going to pull any punches. In fact... She hauled back and threw an elbow at the blonde, her balance thrown off by the hold.

Emory loitered just outside the door of the medical station, watching the comings and goings of those who had passed out from "heat" or "too much drink" and their various companions. A smug little smile crossed his lips, and he marveled again at what an excellent idea this whole ball thing had been, provided his guess at what was actually going on held true. While there were ultimately a few flaws in execution, he had to hand it to whomever had come up with this. Occasionally someone would stroll by, invariably in a black mask, and he would give them a small nod if they happened to look his way. He wondered who some of those behind the masks were, and once more made a mental note to seek out a general for assignment to a captain. Between getting his family adjusted to Destiny City and finding his place on the DCU basketball team, he just hadn't had the time. That would have to wait for another day, though. He was here to play his part, and that was to make sure Natalie didn't leave after she came to again and was discharged. So he waited there for her, in the role of "concerned new friend." HanaKirei Isn't he just the bestest? XD

Laine gave him a soft smile. He was trying... "Let me know if it gets to be too much alright??" She said, pulling away from the wall to lean up and give him a kiss on the cheek. Then all at once her name was being shrieked and there were a pair of arms wrapped around her arms that she distinctly remembered not being there before. Then the creature spoke. Laine burst into giggles immediately afterwards. "Dani." Laine said, trying to get the girls attention, between fits of giggles. No dice. "Dani, sweetheart. Breathe. Nope again. Laine giggled as the girl went on about children and being grown up. "Dani, you're gonna scare him baby." ...If he wasn't already scared. And that was when the blonde seemed to notice the ring on her finger. "Nothing gets past you does it Dani?" She laughed, finally getting it under control. "To answer your questions... Yes, and Yes." She waved a hand in Kor's direction. "Dani, meet Kor. Kor, Dani. I met her on a mission a few years back. And no Dani, he is not just with me cause of my hair. Although, your love of it might be rivaled only by his." She snickered. "Kor is my fiance." -- "You can't even reach my head." Kraven pointed out. "Unless you mean something else entirely" He teased. "You'd just crawl into my lap eventually..." However he snorted and rolled his eyes away when Kaz seemed to focus on everyone else. "Stop worrying about them. If they're stupid enough to pass out it's there problem." The man shot, turning his gaze back to his boyfriend. Just in time to watch him collapse. "Kazuo!" Kraven hissed, grabbing the smaller man's arm before he could fall completely. "s**t..." Came the quiet curse as he gently gathered his boyfriend up and carried him off towards medical. Lance hummed in agreement, trying not to increase his grip on Alistair too much. "I know... I've noticed it too." The blonde murmured quietly. "Stick close, I won't let anything happen to you."

Fritz St. James / Celsus Knight of Chronos - Purple Mask
It really was very hot in here, and the tiredness ebbed more fully into Fritz as they made their way towards the door. Every movement, however, was slow and sluggish; and it felt like the exit was miles away, instead of a few feet, Fritz wiping his brow on the back of his hand and blinking the haziness out of his eyes.
Delilah's gentle voice eased into his thoughts. He turned to look at her, his eyebrows rising as he said, "Yes, what - "
But whatever she'd been trying to say was lost. Fritz flung his arms out just in time, the sudden weight against him causing him to stagger back several steps. He wrapped an arm around Delilah's waist and touched her face.
"Delilah? Delilah?"
She was out cold. He stared down at her, and then carefully eased down to the ground, because his own exhaustion, combined with a fainted woman, was making it difficult to stand. Within seconds, however, a nurse had appeared, and Fritz blinked blearily up at her, his arm still around Delilah's shoulders. Tolliver St. James - Black Mask
To his credit, Tolliver didn't flinch or back away at the expression on the other man's face. He did, however, blink at him with slight annoyance that was more for himself than anything else, half due to the fact that his head was going See, he's angry, this was a bad idea, coming back here. This is why I don't socialize with anyone.
But the angry expression on the stranger's face melted away a second later, and some of the tension eased from Tolliver's shoulders.
"It's all right," he said, shifting from one foot to the other to try and ease the ache in his leg. He swayed a little where he stood, his mind feeling fuzzy, his body feeling sluggish. "It's a little hot in here, I figure things happen and whatnot. To be honest, I'm not feeling all that great myself, so don't worry too much about it."
At least now he had a name to the face. Tolliver hesitated a moment, and then said, "I'm Tolliver. Sorry about your, er..." He gestured to the other man's front. "...suit. Do you need help with anything? It's really kind of chaotic in here." Magiore Carpenter / Lieutenant Aurostibite - Blue Mask
The people were beginning to panic. Mass hysteria was infectious, after all, Magiore mused, his eyes sweeping across the room. There were now several more people collapsed onto the ground, the nursing staff weaving in and out of the throngs and the crowds to get to the ones that had fainted to give them treatment.
Or so it seemed. The one in front of Magiore was no exception to the panicking, either, his expression a concerned one.
"Hey wait - "
Magiore stuck out a hand, gently pushing down on the other man's shoulder to ease him back into a sitting position. "Don't get up yet," he said carefully, adopting a concerned tone. "You're still pretty dizzy, I can see, and I'm not so sure leaving now would solve anything. Here," he added, reaching for some napkins to hand them to the young man. "Just...let's just sit here for a moment, you're in no state to get up just yet."
He pulled one of the chairs from the table towards him, Magiore sitting down across from the young man and fiddling anxiously with his gloves.
"After we both rest a little," he gave a rapid blink and a deep breath to indicate his own tiredness, "I can try and help you find your sister and your grandfather, if you'd like. Two heads are better than one."

Laney shook her head. It was hard to come up with any useful ideas of what to do, with so little go to on -- and when they were both so wiped out. "We can't, we'll -- well, you'd stand out, at least. I could maybe get away with my dress, it's just . . . a lot of people recognize me. From the park. And for all we know, there are agents behind every door, just waiting to sense one of us and move in. No, we should, um . . . " She tried to get his brain moving. "I swear I heard a cat earlier. Just for a moment, but -- maybe if one of them's here, they can give us a better read on the situation." She sighed, trying to pull herself together as she'd suggested Xanthus do. "Let's try and get some soda on the way, too. Cans, if we can -- tamper-proof." Laney/Hvergelmir - Green Mask

Hannah CarringtonHaven arrived to the masquerade late the fatigue that several guests seemed to be experiencing had not yet begun to show as Hannah's eyes widened in horror when she spotted Delilah passed out on the ground beside someone she did not recgonize. "Oh lord," nearly all the color drained from her face seeing her sister slumped motionless in another's embrace. A scene that near mirrored one of the many nightmares she had been having as of late though thankfully there was no blood to be seen. That knowledge alone, however, was not enough to stymie the panic that was rising or prevent her from clutching her bag, which held her henshin pen, close to her chest. No... she thought as tears began to blur her vision. "Delilah..." Hannah spoke no louder than a whisper as she took one hesitant step forward then another. It was almost as if her body was moving of it's own accord towards her fallen friend. "Delilah!" Her voice rose as her pace quickend till she collapsed on her knees beside the man who had his arms around her sisters shoulders. "What happened?" she frantically asked not even thinking to take stock of the state he was in. kuuropii I apologize for the double quote. I had to finish Mei's reply. First Floor - EntryYellow - Hannah--------------------------------------------- Mei XingMei looked up from her phone once her message had been sent. "I appreciate it, thank you." She flashed him a grateful smile, finding his concern rather welcoming. "But I didn't come with a date; I'm here on my own." She then added. It seemed pathetic to admit that nobody had invited her to this masquerade and that she was sitting there alone hoping that someone would ask her to dance. "You might want to go check on your girlfriend though, make sure she's okay." Mei turned her attention back to her phone unable to meet his gaze. He may had been kind in offering her a drink and offering to help her find someone who unfortunately didn't exist, but that didn't give her right to occupy his time when the girl he was with had been taken to the first aid office. Jun wanted water, yet it seemed as if that was the one thing she wasn't going to get very readily. The room stank of alcohol to her, causing her nose to crinkle as she seemingly wobbled towards a drink station. If a bartender was going to offer her alcohol, the Asian girl was going to truly question the morals of those running this event. Jun was short and looked nothing like a 21 year old individual. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it I suppose...As she staggered forward, she accidentally collided with a woman who was a bit taller than her in a black frilly dress. Now, as an individual that was usually a bit more composed with her movements, this as an inexcusable mess. Quickly, the martial artist clapped her hands to her side and leaned forward (head momentarily bobbing a bit as the motion seemed too fast for her at the moment) and apologized firmly "I am sorry... I was just looking to get a glass of water and I guess I wasn't looking where I was going!" Being raised with her parents, it made sense when the girl didn't even dare to look up to the lady's eyes until she was at least acknowledged. Jun - Blue Mask

Alexandre had sat and watched as people got tired, people dropped, and people were carried off. As many people seemed to just brush it off, with a few showing concern, the ashen blond faked mild concern. In reality he knew what was going on - how could he not? It was as obvious as could be to one such as him; embroiled in the war as he was. He knew what an energy draining plot was when he saw one. But his attention was soon drawn away from the people being carried off and fell on a couple dancing across the floor, gaining attention as they did so, one of them appeared little older than himself if not the same age. The other was younger, or at lest they appeared to be so. He knew that looks could, in concern to age, be deceiving.
He had watched the couple leave the floor, and a small crowd of people, and then separate before the male approached his table. "No, it's free." A sweeping hand gesture offered the seat up to the other. "Have a seat, it seems like you could use it." He remarked with a light smile as he took note of the others mask, he was sure that was the cause of the energy draining others were suffering.

Just a few minutes pass before another batch of party goers go down and are being rounded up, but enough is enough. It’s time to take action and the battle is on. Senshi and knights, find a place to power up and put a stop to this nonsense. Agents the party is only just beginning!
Agents, as you power up, you have a message. Coming from your communicator crystals, the message is soft, but you can hear the stern voice on the other side. "It is time to end this, capture, do not kill. General Queen Apatite wants them alive."
Everyone with a YELLOW OR PURPLE(who hasn't already passed out) mask has fainted. Attempts are being made to gather you up, but it is more likely your mask is snatched and you are roughly awakened to see a blurry someone running off.
The party goers are panicking, unmasking, and trying to make their way out of the ballroom and out of the hotel. Many of the hotel workers seem at a lost as what to do but others seems to simply be disappearing. The jig is up, it’s time to complete the appointed mission. General Queen Apatite is waiting and there's info to be collect.
The ball has turned into a battle.
This will be an individual HP style battle and the goal is to capture those listed in the sign up thread.
All character that attended the event and were wearing an energy draining mask no matter the faction will have a lower HP. Divide your HP, provided below, by 2.
If you are just joining, called to the battle, follow the HP guide below.
Negaversers have an HP of 40. Senshi have an HP of 40. Knight have an HP of 40. Cats have an HP of 40. Civilians have an HP of 20. All players should roll 1d10 for damage!
The battle will conclude at 11:59 on January 3rd.
Once someone on the capture list has hit zero, a capture exit post should be made for them!

The nurse that appeared made quick work with her hands. It was clear they had been prepared for something to happen this evening in the hotel but it was unclear as to what. Anyone watching was sure to wonder what was going through their minds as one after another called out something about either heat or liquor. Some might begin to wonder why they served anything that wasn't water after this.
However, Delilah was for once not someone questioning things.
Her body was against Fritz's, motionless as the nurse ran her gloved hands over her face. It was quick work to remove her mask and show off that perfectly 'painted' face. "She will be fine." The woman kept saying to both male and female around as those hands gave a few light taps to Delilah's cheek.
It took a moment but the raven haired woman stirred. With a groan, her eyes re-focused upward at the man she was leaning on. "You make a nice pillow..." She whispered as she felt the nurse place something back on your hand.
"Your mask deary. Can't party here without one."
It was then Delilah caught a woman's voice and looked over. "Hannah?" She breathed slowly. "You're late..." Delilah tried to chuckle but instead started coughing.
"Fritz, my best friend Hannah. Hannah, Fritz." She finally managed out trying to sit up.

It took a second or two -- and Stroud's sudden assault on the woman in red, Ariel -- for the orders he was being given to really sink in. This is insane, he thought, marveling slightly. Oh my God, this is so ******** insane, she is so ******** insane.
Literally everything about my life is ******** insane. And a little voice inside his head followed up with, Well then, so why should this be any different? You have your orders. Just follow your orders and she doesn't make things worse for you. Just be good and she doesn't add any new restrictions. It'll be over soon and this is all you have to do. It's easy. That was right. It was easy. He could just follow orders -- she wasn't asking him to do anything horrible, after all, not really -- it would be stupid to disobey. Not after how long he'd practiced keeping his composure. Not after how long he'd been good. It would be such a waste to have to start over, and who knew what she might do? All he had to do was play along with their little stage piece. Lazarus considered. Stroud had chosen their roles with care. She'd put obvious thought into what would work for her purposes and what wouldn't. Casting him in one of the fighting roles had been out of the question for fairly obvious reasons -- there were few crowds in the world who'd stand by in fascinated horror at the sight of a mix-gender fistfight, rather than getting involved. No, if this needed to be a drawn-out spectacle, the only man in their little quartet was ineligible. This left him, though, a man in makeup and leg corsets and haute couture, needing to solicit the concern and attention of the nearby throng of people, rather than attempting to intervene on his own -- despite the fact that, in the outfit Stroud had selected for him, the issue of his physical fitness was not even remotely being left to the imagination. Which meant she apparently expected him to portray a hideously offensive stereotype of an effeminately gay man, or some kind of equally asinine minstrel show. Something that played comfortably into people's favorite caricatures. Well, fine. ******** it. ******** everything. Off he'd go, then. His General had issued a command. "Oh my God!" he called out as the fight escalated, backing away visibly in his platforms, trying to solicit the sympathies of the first few people he ran into. He pressed a hand delicately to his mouth, careful not to let it muffle his voice. "That b***h is crazy, that Donna Karan New York b***h is ******** crazy. Stroud, sweetie, you kick her a**! Don't you take her s**t! Rip her ******** extensions out!" To the nearby crowd, he confided loudly, "I heard she was in jail last month for, like, beating up some other chick in line at a McDonald's, and that b***h had to get a dental bridge put in, so like, I'm so not getting involved. Poor little Elle's like, so screwed having them fight over her, thank God no drama for me." Lazarus/Quartz - Negablack

Fritz St. James / Celsus Knight of Chronos - purple mask (HP: 20)
His head was spinning unpleasantly. Fritz kept himself where he was even as the nurse did her thing, unwilling to leave Delilah alone, because waking up on your own was a terribly frightening thing, and he at least wished to see that she was all right.
An unfamiliar voice and the unfamiliar person that followed it made him lifted his gaze, and there was another young woman beside him now, her face pale, her expression one of concern. Fritz gave her what he hoped was a reassuring smile, though it was a little weary and strained.
"It's okay," he said, and his own voice sounded strangely far away. "She just fainted, is all, she'll be okay."
As he looked down, Delilah began to stir, and relief ebbed into Fritz's face, though it was hidden by the mask. "Good morning, sleeping beauty," he said, smiling at her. "Glad to see I'm able to provide some sort of comfort while you were away in dreamland. Here, careful - "
The smile was flashed in Hannah's direction as well as Delilah sat up. "Nice to..."
But Fritz's vision swam in and out of focus, and he blinked rapidly before toppling sideways. For several seconds, or maybe it was moments, he seemed to be out entirely, lying on his side on the floor where Delilah had just been a short while earlier.
Then cold hands touched his face, and the mask was gone, and he was blinking blearily awake again, his eyes blurry.
"What the bloody hell - "
