Oh, abandoned temples can be used for lots of things:
warlord hideouts
body switching
secret sacrifices
angry god freakouts
secret rendezvous
shelter from a storm
sanctuary when someone is injured
mysterious goings on
etc.

I would us the cave but I don't want to hide away in a cave where Hephy and Athena and an evil bunny are.
