User Image Confusion

Sap didn't know where she was, only that she wasn't alone. She knew she could think, that she suddenly KNEW where she was and KNEW that she wasn't alone and KNEW that the person walking around under her was a Reaper and a student and not supposed to be there. She even knew what a Reaper was. but a student? What was a student? Where was the student from? Where were they going? She wanted to know. She wanted to know very badly. She stretched her limbs and shook her branches, but she couldn't follow him and soon he was gone. She shivered, suddenly aware that she was cold and it was fall. But it was always fall here. She should be used to it. She wasn't alone, but she was, and she didn't understand because the other trees didn't understand. She was the only tree in the forest who didn't understand, because, she realized with a sudden surge of thought, she was the only one that was thinking. She was seized with a sudden panic, shaking and swaying without wind, her movements echoing through the forest as the other eerie trees mimiced her. Her scream, however, was silent. Painfully silent...

The scene shifted.

She knew better than to say anything. No one wanted to hear what she had to say on the matter. Sure, they all knew something bad had happened in the basement. Something bad, with lots of blood and screaming and no way it could have happened.

When they mentioned ‘ghosts’ they were joking.

She knew from the way they laughed about it that no one wanted to hear her opinion. She’d heard that laugh before and still said something. It always ended with them laughing at her. They wouldn’t listen anyway, so she decided to save her breath.

User Image Death

When a Tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound? Sap knew it did. Sap could hear it. Sap could feel it. She felt it fall. She screamed as it did, knowing it could have been her, but her scream was silent. She had no mouth, no lips. She didn't want to die, not now that she understood life. She wanted to LIVE. She wanted to MOVE. She wanted to EXPERIENCE. But all she could do was sit here, rooted, waiting, screaming in frustration as life went on around her and her brothers and sisters died. She could do nothing.

12. Hiding

She didn't much like the other memory, so she turned away from it.

They were playing hide and seek. It was a game of epic proportions, the whole neighborhood involved. Well, the kids at least.

But she didn’t want to play anymore.

Not after the chill that ran down her back when she’d tried hiding in that shed. Not after that whisper she thought she’d heard.

She just wanted to go home and be safe from whatever lurked in the dark corners of Mr. Ferrow’s yard. No more game, no more hiding for fun hoping to be found.

She wasn't playing the same game as the other kids anymore.

Waffle didn't like this memory, either. So she stood up, turned around, and walked away.

She didn't like the feeling that followed her. She was surely being watched.

She did, of course, take a quick moment to peek in that there treasure chest, thought. Far be it from HER to leave trinkets lying around.

User Image Despair

It was hopeless to continue. She would only fail. She had applied again and again for Amityville Academy. She had always wanted to go there, ever since she had first seen a student, in those days long ago when she was a mere tree opening her eyes and mind to Halloween's sky for the first time.

Never once, though, had the tree gotten a response, and she was starting to lose hope in ever getting one. She longed to be a part of that place again.

She filled out the form and slipped it in the gnashing teeth of the mailbox before trudging away to her job. She knew it would never be answered.

6. Endings

After months of waiting, the wait was finally over when the letter from Amityville Academy came in the post to confirm that a place had been secured for Yvette's enrolment which would take place in the following month. A new place, an unfamiliar setting away from the comfort of home and with individuals whom she knew and cared next to nothing of. Yvette was less than thrilled of the foreseeable prospects of this particular arrangement.

Hywel for once was adamant about getting his way - it was evident from the uncharacteristic clipped tone with which he informed her of the enrolment that he had managed to arrange even though she had been very much against the idea from the very start. He hadn't even bothered to stay in her room to see how she would react to the news, leaving her to fume in silence and glare daggers at the walls at his audacity in going ahead with it despite already knowing how she felt about it.

If he was going to do things his way, fine. She would deal with it. She would ensure that every silver seed he paid for in the name of her education would not go down the drain by doing things her way when she was there all by herself. She would make him see just how wrong his decision to send her away to a faraway school like Amityville was a bad idea to begin with as she had predicted.

He was hansom, she had to admit that. But he was a bit... old for her. She sat with her ribbons and flowers curled around her horns.

Her father had set this up. She tried to explain that she didn't need to, that she didn't want to. He didn't listen.

It was an important duty.

But she sat and didn't know what to say, or how to act. Really she was just a scareling. And he was so old, a little too old to not have a pairing yet. Father said he didn't have to stay her forever partner, but he could teach her their ways.

She didn't want to learn. She would rather roam the fields and play with the minis and her friends form other species. the ponies and the lockness monster that lived down the lane. She didn't choose him.

But he was only the first of so many more meetings.

A lake? the0racle made her way out of the forest to stumble upon a lake, and she almost felt weird not being surrounded or suffocated by distinctly colorful and unique trees. But, she soon realized that this had to be a blessing, a little break from the damp overhead of leaves and branches. the0racle made her way to the edge of the lake and sat down, pondering silently to herself as she stared down to the water's surface...

Rewarding

the0racle had spent a great deal of her life in a Circle. The Circle was comprised of her species' greatest foretune tellers and oracles. There were those who took them seriously, and there were those who scoffed at their fortunes. It had never particularly bothered the0racle much, especially when she had been first accepted into the Circle. She was young, freshly dead, but she had potential and had been taken into the Circle to nurture that potential. Those first few days with her own kind had been uplifting. It was long before drugs had clouded her mind and her visions had lost true meaning. She was full of potential back then.

She remembered the gentle touch of another oracle's palm against her own, scales black against white. The overpowering aroma of incense filled the air, and she was drawn into her first vision. It was blurry, and unclear to her, but she had it. She had seen a monster far away, and was convinced that it was a true vision and that her mind had not made it up. The Circle seemed convinced as well - it had sealed her place and her fortune, and had been the first real rewarding experience in her life.

Of course those things never last, but in that moment she felt happy and uplifted. She felt powerful.

Death

It was hard to imagine that, once upon a time, Lutz was one of them--a human. A dumb, warm-bodied, rosy-cheeked bag of organs.

...He wasn't sure if he missed it or not. After all, he didn't have any memory of what his time alive had been like, remembering only what occurred after he woke up to find himself in Halloween. Truthfully, being in Halloween made him feel unnatural--self-conscious, even, which was more than a little uncomfortable for someone who was usually so confident with himself--especially when he found himself with the undead and creatures that had been born or made there, and for a while he had wondered why that damned necromancer had brought him back.

But in the end? He found that he kind of appreciated it. At least in death, he had found a new life.

She was too full of her self, and spent all her time talking about how awful her other partners were. Trisha tried to look attentive but she hardly listened after the first, everything she said was so much the same. Trisha instead turned her attention to her wings and the lions tail. Really for an apasu she was very pretty. Trisha would have liked to see ribbons braided into that tail and the hair. She could even help pick out some gorgeous things, if only the ghoul would shut up.

It was another meeting, but Trisha was so un impressed and couldn't make friends like this.

"And then there was Charles, boy was he a hoot, even if he was crud..."

Please make it stop.

2. Loss

Jabber had been wandering around. Examining the trees had been easy enough, but there didn't seem to be any more quests around, at least not around this lake.

Stop.

He could swear that he could hear voices. Some laughing, some crying and murmurs. He looked around. No, there was no one around. He looked at the lake. Of course it was the lake. He saw faces under the surface. He knew those faces. One was a younger version of himself. Another, he recognized as an old tutor. They were talking, but Jabber couldn't hear closely. There were other voices in the background. He moved closer to the lake, his hand reaching out just touching the surface.

He was in his room. The desk was on one side and twelve year old Jabber sitting. He was looking very uncomfortable. The old tutor was frowning. The present JabberWhut was feeling sick on the inside. No, not this memory. This is stupid.

"Wrong again," said the old tutor as he tapped a ruler on the desk sternly. The young boy was biting his lip, trying not to cry and he took his problem sets back and started doing them again. He was never, never, ever going to be as good as his older sister. She was a genius. He was always, always going to be below her because she was better, taller, older, stronger, smarter, the pride of the family.

"Wrong again," said the old tutor. He was frowning even more as if the child before him was stumbling over the simplest of problems and he simply couldn't understand why he kept getting them wrong. Tears were starting to roll down the boy's cheeks as he erased his old work and started from scratch. He was never going to be better. He just didn't get it. He could never beat her.

"Wrong again." The tutor was sighing now and shoved the paper back at his student. The boy was openly crying.

the0racle pulled out of the fog of her memory for a moment of clarity. She would have claimed she was experiencing a vision, but this was not her real body, and this was just a game. And she knew that what she experienced now was just a distance piece of her memories...

Normalcy

It was strange, that being a part of such a specialized group gave her the first feeling of normalcy. She had never fit in anywhere else, and had never really expected to. To be pulled into the Circle, to those who were just like her, was the greatest blessing a young the0racle could have been given. There were creatures like her, creatures that accepted her for who she was.

If only they could have foreseen how much of a disappoint she would be for them.

But perhaps it was all worth it still, because the0racle had a place where she belonged, a place where she was not unique, but normal.

[1/3] - Empty

It took some wandering around, merely because DreamWatcher was curious of of actually forest. So when she stumbled upon the lake, she had to pause for a brief moment as she thought she heard someone voice. Ears twitching, she moves very carefully towards the lake. To her own surprise the voices were actually coming from within the water.

Kneeling down, she brush her fingers against the water, curious then ever as to what it wanted from her.

"Your worthless you know that? I have tried everything to make to raise you to take over our coven, and you still deny me." a voice screamed all around the Cheshire, causing her to fold her ears back some.

"I never wanted to become the next coven leader. You never asked me what I wanted, you just assumed I would be." her own voice snapped back causing her to blink as she glance up.

"You wretched scareling, maybe its time I show you you don't have a choice." she heard a scream next, which made the Cheshire cringe. In the water, a figure came into focus. She couldn't see who it was except they were sitting in a completely empty room. She was sobbing in the corner with her legs pulled up to her chest, face buried against her knees.

Pulling her hand back, she shook as she look down at her own hands.

This mini was hurt. It was a little scareon, not big enough for it's own feet yet, and was tangled in some barbed wire at the edge of of the city limits. Trisha bend down low and lifted the barbed wire off the mini with her horns carefully.

"Come on little one." It didn't move. So she carefully pawed it out with a hoof. It opened it's eyes and blinked wearily at her.

She laid down and licked the little scareon's wounds trying to encourage it to climb aboard so she could take it to get a treated. Instead the little scareon curled up into her side, and nibbled at one of her flowers. Well that would do she supposed. She stayed there till her mother came looking and brought them both inside.

[2. Loss]

Voices called to her, and she followed them. It was a curious thing, and somehow familiar in a way.

More familiar was the flood of memories that came over her as she neared the water at the edge of a lake. And of course it would be the funeral. The polished coffin on it's stand, all shining mahogany. It would have been pretty if not for it's contents.

There had been crying, there had been shaking, but not from the small blonde at the end of the the line of remaining family. She had stood there quietly with tear tracks drying on her eyes. Watching as her sister wailed, and her father broke beyond repair.

Of course this memory came to her. It always did when memories were involved.
