"Hmm... that's a good question," Lin murmured thoughtfully, "Especially as we head to places she's already been to."
Kyrie had mentioned a brother, who, now that Lin thought about it, was a healer by trade.

"Maybe we'll run into people who know her," Shiro grinned. "You always learn more about a person from other people rather than the person themselves."
Especially Kyrie. The woman was a good guide, but she really didn't talk much.
Then it was their turn to be interrupted when Wren brought them their dinners. Once everyone had eaten, most of them turned in for the night. Kyrie told everyone to rest, and though Earendil and Daeron both protested and said that they could each keep watch for part of the night, she told them firmly that she would watch the entire night.

The next day was less eventful, since they didn't need to go anywhere. This allowed Miyuki to rise at her own leisure, even though she still rose pretty early. However, it allowed to enjoy the morning doing nothing for a bit before taking a fine point tip to inscribe the rune array into the ball. This was probably the most tedious part, it had to be small, and neat.
Since she figured there wouldn't be many people up and about in the morning, morning was a good time as any to do it.

Andarien was one of those who were sleeping in, but that didn't mean his Pokemon were doing so. Ponydash was grazing near the tents, Eon was resting near his master, and Zeus, young and energetic, was up and about, ready to explore the area. He sniffed around the remains of the fire for a bit, nibbling up bits of last night's dinner that had spilled on the ground here and there; then he poked around the flap of Shiro and Kaito's tent until he had a shoe thrown at him; then he watched Kyrie clean her weapons until he got bored; and then he discovered Miyuki working on the Pokeball.
He sidled up to her, one ear flicking forward curiously, his black eyes bright. He knew that the ball was for him - he had heard Andarien and Miyuki talking, and hew knew that both of his parents had one, too, though theirs were different.
He sniffed at the ball, then looked up at Miyuki and tilted his head slightly, as if he were asking what she was doing.

It was hard not to notice the Jolteon that was sitting beside her. Especially since he was sniffing the ball, and then staring at her so. Deciding it was time for a small break, she set down the nib she was using and stretched her neck a bit.
Rune-ing something so small was not good for one's neck.
"Hey," she murmured as she used her now free hand to pet Zeus, "I'm almost done putting the runes on your ball, At least I hope it'll be your ball, I have to test it on something else first."

Zeus pressed his head into Miyuki's palm, taking advantage of the attention she was giving him since his master was still asleep. He made a contented sound in the back of his throat and closed his eyes.
"He seems much calmer than yesterday," came Kyrie's voice softly from where she was sitting and still working at caring for her weapons.

"From what I managed to gather when he collects too much electricity it becomes uncomfortable for him," Miyuki murmured as she moved to scratch him under the chin, "When he was in my bag it must have rubbed against him, causing him to gather static electricity so it was uncomfortable. Hopefully I'll have a working ball before we leave."
Once she knew one worked, all it took was inscribing the rest of the balls the same way. Which, sounded easier than it really was.

Zeus 'purred' and stepped closer to Miyuki putting one paw on her knee.
Kyrie glanced up from where she was oiling one of her knives. "Well, he'll be handy if anyone has a heart attack," she quipped. "On the flip side, he'll also be helpful if we're truly attacked."
She knew what electricity could do to a person.

Miyuki blinked, not knowing how biology worked she didn't know how Zeus could help with a heart attack. Though she had seen the damage electricity could do thanks to River.
"How would he help with a heart attack?" she asked curiously.

Kyrie turned back to oiling her blade. "A heart attack is when the heart stops," she explained. "Your heart lets out little electric pulses - the key word there is little. When you add too much, it can stop the heart ... but if the heart is stopped, sometimes it can be restarted with a shock."
She smiled grimly. "The trouble is, in nature it's very rare that you have that electricity at your fingertips. I've seen more than a few people die because of that." She glanced at the Jolteon, then nodded at him. "That little guy just might save someone's life."

"Oh...." Miyuki stared at Zeus.
While she hadn't quite grown up in Gaia, she was aware enough of Gaian technology to know that electricity was what made everything work. She never thought about how it was made though.
"Should tell Andarien, since he's training Zeus. Coming up with something that could help in case of emergencies would be good," Miyuki murmured taking her hand away.
She would like to keep petting but that rune array wasn't going to finish itself.

"I agree," Kyrie nodded. "And perhaps we should bring Shiro in on it. He's a smart fellow. And things are only going to get worse from here: this is really the only truly safe country for us to travel in. Our first stop is going to be one of the most dangerous places, so I'm not sure how long your parents will want to stay there."
She shrugged and kept on working. Zeus meanwhile was pouting because Miyuki had stopped petting him. He wrinkled his nose and tried to climb up into her lap.

"Hmmm..." Miyuki thought about it.
She didn't know neither, probably not long, like the way they didn't say in the Human Southland long in the Four Lands. Her thoughts were interrupted though by Zeus trying to get on her lap.
The kitsune shifted the way she sitting so she would have her arms free but let him sit there.
"You can sit, but I can't pet you, the sooner I get this done the sooner I can test," she told him firmly.

Zeus looked up at Miyuki, his black eyes thoughtful. He looked into her face, looked at the ball she was working on, and then looked back at her again; and then he walked in a small circle in her lap, looking for a comfortable position, and then he sat down and lay his head against her stomach, making himself comfy and keeping out of her way.
Kyrie grinned again. "They really do understand what we say, don't they?" she remarked softly.

Picking up her nib again, Miyuki chuckled at that statement. Frankly, she thought the greatest gift any anyone could have is to be able to understand anyone they talk to. Whoever created Pokemon made them very blessed creatures indeed.
"They do, no matter what the language it seems," Miyuki murmured softly, "And the stronger the bond between trainer and Pokemon, the easier it is the understand that particular Pokemon."
She noticed this with Ai after a while. She still had trouble in understanding Eon, and of course the new baby (or not so baby) Pokemon were very difficult to understand if they just talked to her, but Ai she understood well enough.
"Though Andarien has already an advantage when it comes to understanding what they say," she added.
Now that she thought about it, it was kind of like her mother's butterflies only Pokemon were far more intelligent. They could easily gather information if they weren't so... noticeable.
