He needed to know that at least Lurtz was being honest and sincere with him even though no one else seemed to be other than Armageddon. Could he even count the redheaded demon? He still wasn't too sure about that demon's sincerity considering how gruff and rude he seemed to be. The demon was taking care of Dragon's eating habits albeit from a distance though. There were various other things he'd need to know about the demon before he could make any certain judgement calls.
xxxxx"Then how about you build one with me? It wouldn't technically be a gift from a stepfather you don't want to be involved with and it'll replace the one you got from Mr. Darcy that you keep insisting I take. You will also get bragging rights for building your very own bike. It may take some time, but I can teach you how to drive it during the time it takes to build it. What say you to that?" the vampire suggested while settling himself down on the closet floor and removing a blade from his toolbox. This would definitely help some, but... Reaching back in the toolbox, he removed a little yellow device from out of one of the drawers and set it beside the little serated blade on the floor by his leg. Dragon would be curious as to what they were, but he wanted to hear his answer on his suggestion first.

Dantes_river It's so great! I've played the main series, even Apollo Justice and Miles Edgeworth Investigations! I tried to buy the latest one, but Nintendo doesn't support my college's wifi, so I had to use a friend's phone's wifi. That was all fine until the eShop kept saying I had an update ready. Do you have any idea how many times I had to retry because of that effing error code? emotion_donotwant  ҈ ҉

Dragon blinked - his eyes turning clear blue - at the hug and the ruffle of his hair. He slowly brought his hands up and hugged Lurtz back as he listened to his offer. The young man brightened up and looked up at the blue-haired man with a bright smile on his face. "That would be so much fun! And you'll really teach me how to ride a bike?" he asked. He looked down when Lurtz got out the box and gave it a curious look. "What are all those?" he asked.

He'd guessed correctly at the boy's curiosity and now that he had his answer, he would have to answer his questions. Holding up the serated blade, exposing that it actually had two serated blades side by side, he responded, "This blade is to cut through drywall so you have straight lines albeit takes some skill and practice to keep the line straight. This little yellow device here is a stud finder. Studs are the wooden bases that houses are usually built with nowadays. It's like how skeletons are the base for every person only for walls. When I hold down the button, it gives off that high pitch squealing sound until I put it on the wall. As I move it left or right, it will start beeping when I find a stud which will normally be a two-by-four board. Wooden boards and drywall come in various different sizes and are generally labeled by inches and feet. By two-by-four, I am saying the board is two inches wide and four inches thick. The height of the board is more than likely eight feet which is the general height of this room much less most rooms. Sometimes it is larger, but eight feet is the general height most boards come in. As for the drywall, it's about half an inch thick before we hit the studs and I need to avoid doing damage to the studs in removing this part of the drywall where the hole is. Make sense?"

Dantes_river I had to wait through that stupid eShop loading crap, and as soon as it said, 'Okay! Ready!' an error screen popped up. Do you know how many tables have been flipped since then? Now it won't even let me on eShop! emotion_facepalm ҈ ҉

Dragon tried hard to keep up with what Lurtz was saying, but it was fairly obvious that he was losing his grasp of each tool's purpose. "Umm... not really." he mumbled and looked down with an embarrassed blush on his face. "M-Maybe I should just watch you? I could learn by example, right?" he asked with shy, green eyes.

Awesome nerd Too many to count? cool That seriously sucks though. Just put the game on a little chip, put it in a box and put it on the shelves, people! Not everyone wants to be forced into getting a game via eShop or Internet accessible stores only. I still have my flipping Sega for Christ's sake and I prefer it over the Wii, the PS3 and the XBox 360! -le flips table- That's how I feel about it and yet we get forced into the new gaming ways or go without. xXxXxLurtz “Vallyne” Allÿwar

Some were visual learners and some could understand and learn things through just words. There were even some who couldn't learn without hands-on lessons or having all three done simultaneously. "We'll see how it goes with visual learning. I'm not always the best choice for simplifying things as my words don't always come out in a way everyone can understand easily," he rumbled lowly while setting the little yellow device against the wall with his thumb pressing down the little button on the side so it'd alert him if there was a stud in the wall. At least his closet was big enough for both of them to be in it at the same time so he could watch. Unfortunately, the bigger the walls, the more studs were necessary to brace everything that'd be in the room alongside live wires, pipes, insulation and vents. Every time it'd beep at him, he would slide a small black pencil out of the toolbox and mark when the beeps started and where it'd ended. Some were vertical lines whereas few others were horizontal lines.
xxxxxOnce everything was marked, he set the pencil and stud finder back in the toolbox and slid the serated blade inside the premade hole, sawing a straight line up a couple inches before repeating the process a couple inches beside the first cut. He then set the tip of the blade against the wall between the two lines going up and shoved the blade through without the slightest hesitation and ended up having a small chunk of drywall fall down into his lap. From then on, he continued sawing through the drywall yet avoiding damaging the wooden boards and insulation behind it. This eventually ended up in him removing a larger chunk of drywall in the general shape of a large rectangle he now had sitting beside his bedroom wall and out of the way thus leaving a large rectangular shape cut out of the wall.
xxxxxAlthough he didn't really need it, Lurtz removed a small measuring tape out of his toolbox and showed it to Dragon before tapping on one of the studs. "This is a stud and it is two inches wide, four inches deep into the wall as I was saying earlier. This pink fluffy stuff between the studs is called insulation. It helps the house hold in heat or cool air while blocking excess heat and cold from outside from coming in. Understand?"

Dragon watched Lurtz intently and frowned a little when he saw the knife go into the wall. Wasn't that dangerous? What if the entire house came down! Dragon looked around cautiously in case the roof was about to fall down, but it didn't. By the time he looked back, Lurtz was talking to him about insulation. "...Yeah, I think I get it." he nodded. Right, so a house had fluffy things inside the walls to keep it warm and in turn make the people inside warm. Okay, that made sense! "Wh-What's next?"

Now we get the measurements of this hole - twenty-three and three-fourths inches by fourteen and a half inches - and we cut a piece of drywall to that measurement. Once we have a board of that size, we take a screwdriver and screw it into these studs so it will remain in place," Lurtz responded calmly while briefly double checking his measurements and finding his estimation was correct. Standing up briefly, he left the closet and clapped his hands together. As he separated them, what appeared to be little blue sparks began dancing between his hands until a large board appeared on the bedroom floor. Keeping things in a magical storage room like he did made things far easier than constantly visiting stores to get the necessary supplies. He then grabbed up the blade again, marking the board where he needed to cut it with his little pencil, and set to work cutting it with the knife.
xxxxxOnce the board was cut, the light blue haired vampire carried it into the closet and set it in the hole where it was to take up residence. Setting the stud finder against the board, he waited for it to beep before putting down a little x on the spots where he was going to put a screw into the drywall. This ended up in him setting down the stud finder and pulling out a screwdriver and a few screws from his toolbox. Holding up the screwdriver and the screw so Dragon could see the x shape at the ends, he explained, "This is a Phillip's head screwdriver and they go into screws that have this shape on them. There are different variety of screwdrivers people use, but this is the one we're using right now. When dealing with anything that needs to be rotated, remember that if you turn it to the right it's going to get tighter. If you turn it to the left, it's going to become loose. Righty tighty, lefty loosey." After having said that, he set the screw against the x mark on the board and started manually screwing it into the drywall and the stud beneath it.

Dragon followed along as best as he could, but he couldn't even remember the numbers anymore! He frowned in confusion until he saw the screwdriver. Oh, he had seen that before on Blue's Clues... N-Not that he watched those... As soon as Lurtz explained the name of the item, however, a look of horror crossed the brunette's face. "Th-That's somebody's head?!" he gasped and moved back a few steps, clamping a hand over his mouth to keep from gagging. Ugh, how could Lurtz just take someone's head and use it to reconstruct a house??

All screwdrivers are given a name that involves the term head in it due to the fact that they go into the tops of the screws. When you think of the top of something, you end up thinking of heads, or at least they did. I'm still trying to fully comprehend their reasoning for adding the term head to it, but whatever floats their boat I suppose," the vampire responded to Dragon's small panic scene, his hands already working on screwing in the third screw to the board. At least he was nearly done with all of the screws. The way he did his construction work made him look almost like a professional construction work minus the hard hats.
xxxxxOnce all of the screws were in place, Lurtz smiled lightly and started tossing the tools back into his toolbox. "Alrighty. Now we're just going to need some mud to fill in these little cracks and cover up the screws we put in yet keep the wall level. If it isn't level, it's noticeable by the shadows it leaves on the walls," he breathed out while lightly scratching behind his ear. He should have a tub of mud at the bottom of the hall closet along with a light tan color of paint.

"Mud?" the Wendigo instantly perked up, his eyes shining grass green. "I-I can help with that! I've played with mud before, so I know how to use it." he smiled proudly. He loved playing in the mud, it was just so sticky and squishy! He would stick two sticks together and feel like he invented something! He even loved making pies! And to think, he had all this fun two months ago.

"Then feel free to help me once I bring the container of mud into the closet," the vampire purred ever so smoothly in that deep rumble of a voice. Shortly after grabbing the tub of mud out of the hall closet, he returned and set down the large white tub with a dark blue lid. After pulling off the lid to the container and exposing the off-white mud within, he removed a couple of little metal spatula-like instruments and set one down beside the tub for Dragon. He then set to work in dipping the spatula into the mud and filling in the cracks between the drywall pieces, new and old. Like with all of the other tools he used, he appeared to have much experience in doing this. Of course he was keeping his knee over the hole in the floor so as to keep Dragon from getting hurt because of it the entire time, but still. Lurtz was just doing as he'd promised the young Wendigo. He was going to protect him with his life.

Dragon peeked into the tub and stared at the mud. It looked... a little different than what he was accustomed to, but mud was mud! Graciously taking the spatula into his hand, he scooped up some mud and set it on the ground. It was so much fun molding it and watching it change with every push and pull!
Twenty minutes in and Dragon proudly looked down at the mud cake he had created. He turned to show Lurtz, but he saw him putting mud on the walls, specifically over the cracks. Dragon blinked before paling. "O-Oh, i-is that what I was supposed to do?" he asked and looked down at the mud cake he made, blushing from the humility.

Smiling lightly, he gave a slight nod as his deep blue eyes flashed a dull red ever so briefly. "I do believe I said that. It appears you've mastered the art of mudpies though. Perhaps art is one of your gifts," Lurtz responded gently while never seeming mad or anything at how Dragon had used the mud for his own thing instead of working on the wall. Instead, he stood up, stepped over the boy and opened the window while giving a semi-shrill whistle. At a bird landing on the windowsill with a leaf in it's mouth, he smiled lightly and took the leaf from the bird. Of course a flicker of disappointment passed through his gaze when the bird shot off like the devil was after it, but it was kind of to be expected. Few actually remained near him after all. Stepping back over the boy, he crouched back down and held the leaf out to him. "You want to see the intricate designs the eye doesn't always catch on a leaf?" This was followed by that gentle half-smile of his passing over his lips instead of showing any negative feelings. The boy was still young after all so anger was not something he could feel towards him.

Dantes_river They even have cutscenes now! Edgeworth and Wright's voices are not at all what you'd expect. Then again, they changed their OBJECTIONS! sounds, too. I guess with the age and all. ҈ ҉

A proud smile graced his lips. "I don't know if mudpies are an art, but I love making them. Mud's so fun to play with! I didn't know it could fix houses, either!" he laughed until Lurtz got up and walked to the window. He blinked - eyes changing to metallic - when the bird came, surprised by the ability. Could Lurtz call any animal he wanted? That was an amazing ability! He himself could understand abilities - yet another 'gift' received by one of his fathers - but that bird flew away too quickly for him to understand it. Seeing the leaf extended towards him, Dragon brightened up and nodded his head eagerly. "Yeah!"

Most would make them lumpy on the sides or on top and yet yours is not like that even though you used the blade. And mud is definitely one way of fixing up a house. The natives of this land and various others used mud and sticks, grass and thatch, clay, branches, the hides of animals and leaves to make their homes. It's how man lived before becoming a bunch of greedy bastardis and stole their land. It's not quite like that in the present, but it was how they survived in the past," Lurtz explained in a gentle voice while setting the leaf on a slab of mud he himself put on the floor so as not to disrupt Dragon's mudpie. After pressing it into the mud ever so slightly, he pulled the leaf back up and set it on his knee before unwinding a wire he'd pulled from his pocket. Holding the wire taut between his two hands, he pressed the wire into the floorboards a bit and slid it under the clay a few times before picking up the mud on his spatula again. "Come over here where the light is better and you'll get to see all of those details." It was then he moved back near the window, and set the leaf imprinted mud on the spatula on the windowsill. As he'd said, doing that with the leaf ended up showing all of the intricacies of how the leaf grew over time, lines that couldn't be seen with just the human eye staring at the leaf.

It was apparent he truly believed in the never-ending circle that connected all things to each other as he spoke of it to the boy, but the smile in his eyes seemed to fade as he recalled how quickly the bird flew off. "And some of the things nature creates tends to scare others in this hoop that never ends. Either way, it would not exist if it were not part of this circle of life. That is what most of mankind does not understand. Everything has a purpose in life and will create something new in it's death. Make sense?"
