Sammy looked up as the voice once more reached out to them, annoying and nagging whining even.
Damn your prize, I have only one goal and unless it has to do with your prize it has no good for me.She mounted the last few steps pushng on after G and the others. Roch--did he still have a claim to the name? The question was stuck in his head as he started up the stairs. Strangely enough he didn't seem worried about the task ahead of him. He just kept moving up the steps, taking them as quickly as he usually did.

Jing never thought there was a door up here, after all the steps that spiraled up and into the next area. The voice boomed its complaints again, a dismal sound that complained of what it wanted in life. "Well i wanted to be alive, you caused this, now prepare to suck it." he mouthed heatedly and flung himself into the next area. The watch didn't stand for that type of crap. Entering the first floor Mitsu paused as she looked at the sign. Sacrifice all that you hear? She started to ask what that meant but when she moved her lips she realized there was no sound. Come to think of it, this room was very silent. There wasn't even the sound of footsteps. So that's what it had meant.
Grimacing Mitsu continued forward through the eerie silence. Hopefully it wouldn't take long to get to the next floor.

Roch glanced back, briefly, seeing someone slightly familiar. The wolf girl from the healing ward. He debated on waiting for her, but decided not to. The sooner he got this over with, the sooner the damned summoning he was experiencing would be over.
Not that he would go down even if he had the choice. He was out to finish this properly. If only because it was the last thing he'd ever do.

When she realized Shun was far ahead of her and out of sight Mitsu sped up to keep pace. Don't leave me behind! She rushed up a good number of them but it felt like they would never end. How far ahead had Shun gone and more importantly how many steps before she was at the top? They looked like they were never ending.

As she continued upward Mitsu walked by a familiar face. She paused for just a moment to look at Roch. They hadn't been close but they had been part of the same kingdom. It was still tough even now to think it had all been a lie. A fabrication that someone had come up with. Mitsu wanted to know why. She wanted to know the reason behind her fake existence and thus she continued on.

"Reforged, huh?" Roch repeated, finally speaking. "Just like the gallinium," he said quietly. "That's all I am, when it comes down to it, isn't it? A tool. Well sometimes tools can hurt like a sonofabitch," he told the voice almost cheerfully. "Especially when there's lots of them."
And he kept moving, surprisingly more cheerful thanks to that comment. "Hey, while you're feelin' so chatty--what does punitive mean, anyway?" he asked. He got no reply.
He didn't really expect one. Mostly because he couldn't even hear himself.

It was so unnerving not being able to at least hear her own footsteps. There was no echo not even the huff of breathing as she forced her way up a few more stairs. Hopefully this wouldn't last forever, the silence was near maddening though it seemed the voice new just when to cut in.
She paused as she listened to the voice's rant confused about what it meant. It wasn't power that she was seeking it was answers. The voice said it had given her life purpose but what was that purpose? To simply fight and put the one true king into power? That wasn't much of a purpose at all. She was certain a purpose was supposed to be of her own choosing, at least that was how she felt.
After a little bit of hesitation Mitsu continued on. The top would hold her answers she just knew it.

How far away was the next floor? Who the hell designed this tower with so many steps? Why couldn't it be in the white kingdom, there would have at least been an elevator or a teleporter. Honestly someone wasn't thinking ahead.
The shifter had to pause for a moment to catch her breath. She was no stranger to walking but never this many steps. She just wanted to be off this floor!
After a moment of catching her breath she turned her eyes upward trying to see her final destination. It was no where in sight and neither was Shun but she was determined to continue on. Her steps started off steady and slow but quickly she started to sprint up them two at a time. She was going to get to the next floor if it killed her.
......Hopefully it wouldn't.
It was a relief when Mitsu spotted the last few steps. She slowed when she finally reached the final one breathing heavily with a stitch in her side. Her legs ached but she had made it!
The voice decided to speak to her again as she was just about to exit to the next floor. Betrayed? Mitsu truly felt like she had been the one betrayed first. Everything she knew was a lie. Getting angrier and angrier she trudged on.

And the ex pirate made it to the top of the stairs with a hop and a skip. He paused to stick a finger in his ear and try and get it working again. Nothing happened. Well that sucked, he thought as he headed for the next floor.

She had sacrificed much to get to this point. Her life, such as it was. Her power. Her companions. Her memory. A fairly large portion of her sanity. Sacrificing one more thing wasn't going to make much of a difference. When her hearing died as she entered, she merely kept moving, her face expressionless. She was blank, empty as the part of her that had once contained the Golden mana. Nothing else mattered but the ascent.
She watched her surroundings carefully, so as not to damage herself further; willing sacrifice was one thing, but she dared not let accident or chance come between her and her mission. Up, up, up. One step at a time.

Jay continued to walk forward until she encountered the door. She craned her neck forward to read the words more closely and took in the warning. The copycat paused. It was straightforward. Once she knew what to expect, Jay braced herself and stepped inside. Indeed, there was only dead silence. She tried to hum a tune, but she failed to hear any sound despite the rumbling in her throat. Her gaze turned toward the set of stairs set in front of her. She frowned, but considering there was little else she could do, she sighed and took the first step.
