Hearing the request, Fields's face softened. Part of him didn't like the idea of leaving Caesar with the demon, thinking that he could aline himself with him... or something. The doctor shook his head, refusing to be bothered by such a frivolous thought. "...Fine." he nodded.

"Hmm?" the older looking man grunted as he snapped out of a distant thought. "Oh.... da, da." he nodded in agreement until the words fully sank in. "Vait a minute!" he scowled and glared at the boy. "You are making me look like some kind of cold-hearted man! Ein am no such thing!"

"Hey! You vere the vun who offered to do this!" Fields snapped, though he couldn't argue further with the boy. It was true, he was pretty much just using him as a some kind of demon tracker/hunter, but... The doctor pursed his lips as he remembered ruffling the boy's hair last night and trying to encourage him. That's no way for someone to treat a person they're just using, right?
"Look, you're not just some tool to me." he said. "Ein offered you a room, learned somevhat about you, und frankly.... You're not as annoying as ein thought." he muttered the last part with an embarrassed blush and an avoidance of eye contact.

Fields looked and paled when he saw the boy looking lonely and offended. He frowned and gulped thickly, his own guilt beating back his natural anger. "I... Ein am not that awful!" he said in his defense. "Y-You act as if ein hit you everyday!"

tiny14xx Am I the only one loving this? heart The doctor leaned back, stunned, and it showed on his face. Was he really that cruel? No, no wait a minute, why did he even care? He was Dr. Fields, ruthless German scientist that used kids as test experiments and bait for his longtime rival! What did he care that some demon brat thought he was mean?
...But that look on his face. There was just something about it that tugged at the doctor's heart. Fields suddenly paused. His heart? Did he actually reference his heart? That still worked? He had assumed it was just used for keeping his body working, but for emotions? Wait, wait, wait! He was NOT connecting emotions his heart held to this boy! That was.... abhorrent!
"Grr..." Fields growled while awkwardly rubbing his arm and looking away, his face scrunched up in anger and confusion. "Ein... Ein didn't mean to." he muttered, blushing brighter at how much of a pansy he sounded, and felt.

Blushing instantly at the very mention of another kiss, the doctor grimaced and glared at the boy. "Aha! So you admit it vas a kiss!" he said and pointed an accusing finger at the demon. "Vhy did you do that? Surely that's not the only method you have for healing!" he accused, his face still bright red.

The doctor scowled again. "Don't smirk! It's been decades since I've been through anyzing like that, und ein didn't need it now from you!" he fumed, shaking his fists until he realized something: did he just... confess that he hadn't been kissed in decades? Fields's face slowly turned from blushing to flustered.
