Chad hadn’t made it too far at all before he noticed that the girl he’d met inside, he believed the name to be Selphie, or Selph for short, was shouting out his name. Normally he’d keep walking for the sake of Kadaj, but something inside of him told him to play it cool and just hang out. After all, Kadaj knew how to get to the Pokémon Center if he really wanted to hang out with him. “Oh, Selph right? Hello, sure you can hang out with me.” Chad had to refrain from mentioning the fact that he had an interest of his own which was Kadaj since he didn’t know how Selph would handle that. To be honest, she did seem like the kind of girl that would get a kick out of a gay couple, but looks could be deceiving. ‘Ah, we’re not a couple. I have to remind myself that.’ Chad didn’t know this about himself until now actually, but he was beginning to realize he was the kind of guy that once he had a crush on someone, he would automatically assume they were dating. How conceited of him… “That’s a nice Pokémon you have there, I forgot to say earlier because well, let’s just sat I was in a hurry to get out of there. Not because they were talking or anything, I just wanted to meet someone at the Latios and Latias statue and make sure he was safe.”
Chad scratched the back of his head as he thought about how dumb his excuses were. They were sincere, but at the same time, the fact that he didn’t have anybody next to him could make someone believe that he was lying. “So um, when did you become a trainer? You look like you know a thing or two about Pokémon and the fact that you have a couple of beginner Pokémon makes me think you left a few back in another region.”

Naano quickly separated herself from the boy, and blushed purfusely as she heard Becca's statement "W-wait! Becca get back here! That's not...." Oh dear...Looking back at Ayato when he spoke to her she said "Litte lady? That better not be a short joke." She raised one of her eyebrows and crossed her arms together. Soon after, Selphie left. Once again, she forgot to say goodbye. Returning her attention to the boy, she noticed out of the corner of her eye Eva ready to pounce again. "Oh no you don't!" As the Eevee pounced Naano caught her in mid-air and held her close. "Come on now, you have to stop doing that!" What's wrong with her? Her Eevee began nudging her bag. No wonder... "You want some berries? Alright then" setting her Eevee down, she began rummaging in her bag and talking to Ayato at the same time. "I'm headed towards Paysage, but I'm going to catch some pokemon before hand. Hey, where did all of my berries go?"
Still reaching around her purse, she felt some gooey sticky stuff on it's lining. Taking out her hand, there was a number of colorful berry juices. "Aww man..." It must've happened when I fell into him...

He laughed. "Maybe it was..." He liked to tease her. "Hmm...that's quite a mess I know someone to help with that.." He tossed up a pokeball and a tiny white-blue polar appeared. It had a snot hanging from it's nose that cause it to sniffle. "Sniffles..the Cubchoo. My partner in crime." He smiled at her, and raised eyebrow like she did. "Chhhoooo" He said and began licking and cleaning her bag. "He's kind of a glutten.." Pokemon: Sniffles / Male / Lv. 20

Naano giggled "What a cutie." She smiled warmly at the little cubchoo. "You must've come a long way from here, there aren't any cubchoos near here I don't think." Once he finished up the job, she pet him on the head. "you probably need a nap after all that eating, don't you?" She gathered her things together as she handed Ayato his pokemon. "Well, wanna head over to Paysage with me? Going it alone doesn't seem all too fun." She looked at the time on her watch. "There's no way it's been that long already!" She scooped Eva back in her arms and grabbed Ayato's wrist. "Let's go boy toy!" She smirked as she was already feeling comfortable around him. I might as well tease him.

Selphie nodded as he recalled her name. At least he wasn’t one of those meat-heads that only worried about his muscles, Selphie was wrong on that one. When she’d first met him, she thought he was kind of a muscle-head jock, but already he was turning out to be a lot different than she had anticipated, especially when he complimented her Pokémon. It was nice to see someone who could actually spot a worthy Pokémon instead of just ‘another Pokémon in the bunch.’ “Oh trust me, I was in a hurry to get out of there too once I saw that guy with the frosty blue hair come in. Can you say ‘third wheel central’?” Selphie laughed playfully. It’s not that she didn’t mind being the third wheel, it was truthfully that she didn’t really know Naano enough to sit there patiently while she flirted with some guy, although once the water settled, Selphie would love to talk to Naano again since she seemed like a really sweet girl. “Oh well, I guess I should be used to that kind of stuff, but it turns out I’m not.” Selphie decided to scratch that subject since it really wasn’t something she wanted to get into.
“I became a trainer nine years ago when I was ten, like most children that are ten. I travelled through the Johto and Kanto regions, although I never actually made it to the Hoenn, Sinnoh, or Unova regions because I kind of just got fed up with regions so close to home,” Selphie lied. The truth was she was tired of the fame that clung to her for coming in the top four of her region, so instead, she decided to simply state that she was just tired of being close to home. If Chad knew that she was famous, then he might start liking her for all the wrong reasons, or at least, that’s what she presumed. “So you seem to be a bit new at Pokémon though, I can tell by the way you’re so apprehensive about letting your Pokémon out of your Pokeballs. Are you afraid they’re going to run away?” Selphie bit her bottom lip for a moment before going on, “Not that it’s any business of mine, feel free to not answer, but why did you start your journey so late?”

Chad laughed as he listened to how flustered Selphie seemed to be getting about the whole third-wheel thing. If there was one thing Chad was good at doing, it was making sure that other didn’t feel like a third wheel. If anything, he went out of his way to make sure of that, so the person he was originally there with began feeling like a third wheel themselves. Then again, he’d never had a crush on anybody before, but now that he had one on Kadaj, he couldn’t help but wonder how he’d end up treating Selphie when it came to introducing here and spending time with both Kadaj and her. “Yeah, I know what you mean. When I was in school I never dated, so naturally I ended up being the third wheel.” Chad didn’t mention the fact that most of the girls would’ve dropped their boyfriends in a heartbeat if it meant that they could end up with Chad. If anything, he was the guy none of the girls could have, which began to just drive them crazy after a while.
As he listened to her story about how she travelled here from another region, Chad couldn’t help but feel a bit in awe of her capabilities. “That’s cool! I’ve met a couple of other people who came from other regions as well, but I’ve never really opened up to any of them. I think a lot of it has to do with my boy-” Chad hesitated for a moment before correcting himself, “My friend, yeah, just a friend.” He sighed before continuing on with his speech, letting Selphie know just about everything about him and why it took him so long. “I started my journey late because I didn’t know what I wanted to do for the longest time. Ultimately I decided that being a trainer was a make it or break it kind of thing in my life. Nothing was really working out for me back in Willowcove Village so I thought to myself ‘why not?’” Chad folded his arms and sighed a heavy breath, “Well, that’s all about me. I guess there’s more I might tell you later, but I’m not one for giving out my biography on the first day. Anything else you want to know though before we go to the Latios and Latias statue?” Chad continued to stand there with his arms crossed.

Selphie giggled as she imagined Chad being a third wheel, which just seemed too impossible. He was so laid back and calm, almost hard to believe that he would’ve actually ended up being a third-wheel to anything. “Yeah right, I highly doubt you were a third-wheel mister stud. Let me guess, you had all the girls in school after you? Does that sound about right?” Selphie giggled but let it die down before apologizing for the assumption, “Sorry, I just keep finding myself becoming more and more wrong about you, it’s kind of shocking how wrong I am, but I’ll get over it I’m sure. Sometimes I can be too quick to judge.” Now that she was wrong about him, she would need to be more vigilant in terms of how she would go about talking to him. He seemed to be much sharper than she had anticipated, so if she ever wanted to keep travelling with him, she’d have to memorize the lies she told him and stick with them for everyone she talked to.
Sometimes, Selphie liked to say that she was a archeologist exploring different regions, it definitely did give her life some variety. Occasionally though, there would be that person who recognized her, but so far it did seem like that was going to be happening anytime soon. “You have a pretty interesting life. There’s nothing else I can say that I need to know, although there are always things I want to know. Knowledge is the key to a better tomorrow. We can’t move forward until we understand our past right?” Selphie sighed and shook her head, realizing that Chad wasn’t as open as she had presumed him to be. Perhaps he was just testing her, talking a lot one minute, and then keeping his mouth shut the next. ‘What is he doing? I wonder if he realizes that I’m not out to exploit him. I’m just a travelling trainer and I want to learn about him.’ Selphie looked up at his nice and toned body, “I see you work out a lot, you should talk to me about your secrets as we walk.” Selphie slowly began walking down the path that Chad had been walking earlier before she stopped him.

Chad watched Selphie carefully, thinking about what she could possibly be analyzing. He kind of hoped that she wasn’t the type of girl to presume him to be some sort of unpredictable kind of guy. He thought he was being pretty straight-forward, or at least that’s what he wanted to be. These past few hours have been super confusing to him since he didn’t know what he was doing and why he was doing it. “It’s okay, I’m quick to judge myself sometimes. There’s this guy I know named Kadaj and when I first met him, I thought he was a total jerk and I mean total!” Chad paused for a moment and looked at the ground, thinking about what he was going to say next, ‘I guess it wouldn’t hurt to tell her, she doesn’t seem like the kind of person who would go behind my back and start talking about me.’ Chad looked back up and smiled, “But, he turned out to be the only person I’ve ever ended up developing what you would call a ‘crush’ on. I didn’t realize it until I found myself protecting him earlier today from some weird chick trying to take his Pokémon. It’s one of those loves that just sneak up on you.”
Chad began to follow Selphie since she seemed to be going the right way, but it was as he began walking that he realized what he had just said. “Not love, n-no! Just like, I meant to say ‘like’ because I only like him. Besides, I’m not going to date him. He doesn’t even have feelings for me.” Chad sighed and looked at the ground, but decided to change the subject by talking about his body for the sake of keeping Selphie occupied as they walked. “I work out all the time, whenever I get the chance I do. Nothing really secretive about it but there you go. You’re pretty slim yourself.” Chad smiled and decided to keep it short. He didn’t really have any secrets besides dedication. It wasn’t as complicated as people made it out to be.

Selphie looked at Chad threw a new light as she realized that he was gay, or bisexual, she didn’t really know, but she did know that he liked men, and that pretty much made her kick into her fan-girling mode. “Eek! Really!? You find another guy as a crush? Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! I’ve only seen gay guys on T.V! Stop!” Selphie ran in front of Chad and did a twirl in place, showing off her outfit as she did so, “Is my outfit hot or not? I made it practical for travelling and it’s very flexible so I can run if I need to, oh and check out these glasses!” Selphie pulled off her glasses and couldn’t see once she did, but it was totally worth it if it meant that a gay guy could rate her outfit. She’d always been interested in seeing one in real life. “They’re all black, really neutral. I can’t see without them though, so it makes them perfect for everyday use.” Selphie took her glasses back and put them on her face before letting out a sigh of excitement and infatuation. “You seem like the kind of guy who would be on top! Tee-Hee, I can’t wait to meet this Kadaj guy.”
Selphie let out a sigh of relief and decided to readjust herself by resuming their walk. “Sorry, I just can’t believe you exist. I mean, I’ve never met a guy who would be interested in other men before, not that it’s a wrong thing. I just find it really cool and I’m totally supportive of it. I believe in gay rights and all that jazz.” Selphie smiled and decided to hug Chad. “I can’t believe I’ve met you! Wow, you know, I’ve travelled over two regions, and not once have I met a gay guy, nope, not even once. How long have you known you were gay?”

Chad couldn’t help but blush as she started jumping around saying that he was gay over and over. Normally he didn’t care about these kinds of things because he could simply deny these accusations, but since he was trying to be honest with her, he held his breath until it began to hurt. Luckily it seemed to be dying down by the time Selphie jumped in front of him and started talking about her clothes. That was when he was confident she had the wrong idea. “No, I, well geez, I’m not that kind of,” Chad whispered under his breath, “gay.” He sighed but decided to explain himself more thoroughly for her, “You see, I’m more of a guy who falls in love with something I can’t live without whether it be with boy or girl. I don’t have a preference, although I’ve always found myself more stimulated by women.”
Chad sighed as she hugged him but he didn’t stop her since she seemed to be really happy about the fact that he was actually interested in men as well. “Yeah well, I’m pretty sure you’re going to love Kadaj. He’s completely gay and he seems to know a thing or two about men and all that, I mean he got me to like him, but I don’t want you to say anything to him, got it?” Chad pointed a stern finger at Selphie, feeling like it was appropriate since she seemed more than giddy about being in the presence of Chad now. “He can’t know that I like him because truthfully, I don’t feel like a commitment would be something I feel comfortable with right now. Just protecting him is enough for me. As for how long I’ve known, I’ve known I’ve been attracted to whatever all my life.” Chad smiled and decided to keep walking, but as he walked, it began to rain lightly. “Ah crap. The statues are too far to walk towards, let’s go back to the Pokémon Center for now.”
Chad ran all the way back to the Pokémon Center before walking inside and waiting for Selphie to get in.

Selphie found herself readjusting her glasses on her face and blushing as Chad basically let her know that he wasn’t all out gay, just bisexual, or at least that’s how she wanted to classify it, but it did make sense to her. She just couldn’t find herself being with another woman because she didn’t find them attractive, but if it’s what Chad wanted, then he should just go for it. “So it sounds like to me that you’re more attracted to women but you’re still into guys as well. I would really like to meet this Kadaj guy, but I don’t think we will because it seems like it’s about to start raining.” Selphie looked up to the sky and pointed out the ominous clouds. “If I’ve learned anything from travelling, it’s that you don’t want to be caught outside during a rain storm.” Selphie smiled and slowed her walk, waiting for Chad to make a decision for the two, although, she wouldn’t keep walking in the rain if it began to pick up. Sure, she liked Chad and thought he was cool, but there was no way she’d walk with him through the rain just to go see his boyfriend. “You just want to protect him though? You sound like someone I used to know.” Selphie looked down and began to think of her ex and good-for-nothing boyfriend. ‘I hope he knows what’s it like to give your heart to someone and then just watch helplessly as they stomp all over it.’
As she felt the first drops of rain, she realized what was going on and followed Chad back to the Pokémon Center where she decided to take the initiative and go up to a nurse and ask about the weather. Once she was done, she exchanged several more words before walking back to Chad. “The rain’s going to last a little bit so I got us a room here. The Pokémon Center also doubles as an inn for trainers, you should remember that on your journey. I know you might not be comfortable bunking up, but I got us a double-bed room so we don’t have to share anything.” Selphie smiled and waited for Chads mind to clear.

Chad waited quietly for Selphie, deciding to simply sit down at a small chair on the side of the wall. As he did so, he looked out the window and silently watched the rain hit the pane. ‘Kadaj, I hope you’re okay wherever you are.’ Chad had kind of figured that there would be no point in going all the way to Kadaj’s location since he was somewhat of a mover whenever it came to unfavorable conditions, or at least that’s what Chad had come to believe about him. ‘I’m sure he’s fine.’ Chad shook his head, bringing his mind back to reality when he saw Selphie moving towards him in the reflection of the window. “A room!?” Chad stood up, slightly apprehensive about bunking in the same room as her, but it wasn’t like she was going to take advantage of him, especially with her frail body compared to his larger one. “Okay, so let’s do it.” Chad looked at the room number and decided to lead the way, “Alright, follow me.”
Chad walked down the back hall and found himself in front of a room number sixty-three. “Okay, so ladies first.” Chad turned to Selphie and suggested that she open the door since she was the only one with a key at this point. However, in her defense he hadn’t even asked for one up until now when he realized he’d need one if he ever planned on leaving the room by himself, and depending on how long the rain would be lasting, he may even need to. “Alright, I’ll take a key.” Chad held his hand out, but before she could place it in his palm, he blurted out, “I don’t know, it’s just, I’m worried about Kadaj. What if he’s out there by himself? I can’t stand thinking about it. You must think I’m pathetic.”

Selphie approached Chad and smiled as she looked at him. Right away she could tell something troubled him by the blurred expression in his eyes, but she didn’t want to pry into his life. Like he said before, he didn’t want to give his whole biography to her on the first day of meeting her, which she could fully understand. “The room’s ready.” Selphie showed Chad the room number and allowed him to lead the way to the room. She didn’t mind following or taking orders as long as it wasn’t something that he was doing just to prove his authority over her. It was all about being a friend and learning to adjust to the complications of others.
Once they were in front of the room, Selphie smiled and slipped her key into the door before pushing it open and hearing Chad ask for a key of his own. “Sure!” Selphie placed her spare key into his palm and smiled, before letting the smile wipe right off her face when she heard how troubled Chad was. She didn’t know much about him, but already she felt like she needed to reassure him that everything was going to be alright, maybe it was because he was a new trainer, and she wanted to make sure his burdens weren’t too heavy. It was easy to let things just pile on you, especially when you’re new at something. “Oh Chad, it’s going to be okay. I’m sure your ‘friend’ Kadaj is doing just fine. You just have to give him more credit than that. After all, he knew he was going to be going on a journey before you came into his life, and if he didn’t I’m sure he prepared for separation at one point, even if only for a day.” Selphie side-stepped so that Chad could walk inside of the room first, “Now come on in and relax. I know, how about we let out Pokémon meet? That’s always something that cheers me up whenever I’m feeling down.” Deino nodded in a gleeful manner since he was still out of his Pokeball.

Chad fought back tears of gratitude. He’d never thought he could find someone so caring out here, caring enough to just take his problems head on and reassure him like that. No one ever just seemed that genuine. It was both relieving and exciting to think that he could spend more time with her in the hotel room. She simply introduced herself to him at a really bad time, but luckily she was patient enough to take it all in. “This place is nice.” Chad walked into the generic room, which wasn’t too nice. What Chad referred to as nice was the beautiful view of the forests behind the window. There were many trees, which all seemed damp because of all the rain. “Right, well, I guess I’d better let my Pokémon out. Go, Nincada and Sketch!” Chad released a Nincada onto his bed and his Pokémon Sketch, who emerged standing on the floor in front of the bed. “I would like you two to meet Selphie, she’s a really nice friend of mine.” Chad playfully nudged Smeargle forward. “Go on, say hello as only you know how.” Smeargle took several steps forward before looking at Selphie’s hand and then her face. In the blink of an eye, he painted her hand with a carefully drawn smiley face. “I think he likes you.” Chad laughed and watched as Nincada seemed to be looking at Deino with much concentration. “You can go talk to him Nincada.” Nincada shook his head ‘no’ because he was slightly scared of the dinosaur looking creature.
