Miyuki followed along, but she couldn't help but giggle at her uncle for the finger wave he got.
"Has Shiro or Kaito come by yet?" she couldn't help asking.
If they haven't she would talk to them.

"Kaito has," Soronume replied, leading them behind the counter and through the door, "but Shiro hasn't. Kaito says that Shiro keeps himself too busy - tutoring Andarien, helping him train his new pet, working on his own research ... that boy needs to put his work away sometime."
She turned to look at Miyuki. "You tell him that from me, all right? Tell him he absolutely must come visit us before you all leave."
The kitchen was a flurry of activity, and Soronume led them straight through it to the private dining room.

Miyuki giggled, "I'll tell him that."
She had to agree though with her ninako about Shiro. While she loved it that Shiro was so helpful, he did sometimes go overboard (or most of the time).
"He just likes to help everyone."

"Helping people is all well and good, but he needs to make time for his family as well," Soronume sighed. "I understand that we can't see everyone because they're not in this world most of the time, but when there are those who are in this world and don't come to visit ..."
She let the sentence hang. After a moment, she called for one of the hired help and asked them to find Rigel. He hadn't been in the kitchen, where Soronume had expected him. Once the employee hurried off, Soronume motioned for the others to sit at the table while she busied herself setting places for them.

Miyuki got the hint, she couldn't help but wonder if maybe Soronume got lonely it sounded like people didn't visit them that much at all. She took a seat at the table and after some thought set her Eevee on the floor close to her.
"Ah.. may I have a plate for my Eevee as well?" she asked.
While she wouldn't let her Eevee onto the table (might as well make that a habit) she would like to feed her Eevee and use a plate to do so.

"Of course," Soronume smiled. "Where will she eat? Table? Floor?"
She had never had the need to worry about pets before - Senka had usually stayed in the castle when the family had gone out visiting - so she wasn't sure what Miyuki would want to do.

"The floor," Miyuki replied.
The Eevee squeaked and pawed Miyuki's legs because she wanted to be up on a chair like last time.
"Sorry, but you need to eat on the floor," Miyuki told it.

Soronume smiled and took an extra plate from the cupboard. "And what kind of food does she need?" she asked. "We do have a wide variety of food here, but I've never seen a creature like that before, so I wouldn't know ..."
Her instinct would be to give it meat, since that was what most animals ate, but she really had no idea.

"Any sort of fruit would be good for her," Miyuki replied, "I know she doesn't look it, but apparently she doesn't really eat meat."
Which was funny, the first time Miyuki saw Eon, she thought of those lapdogs some old ladies in the Gaian market sometimes carried around.

"Interesting," Soronume mused as she finished setting the table. "I'll be right back, I'm just going to get some food for us."
And she headed back to the kitchen.
Daeron and Iorlas took a seat next to each other, across from Miyuki. "Fruit?" Daeron asked curiously, eying the Eevee.

Miyuki shrugged, she wouldn't have thought so neither, but apparently that is what they ate.
"I asked Shiro before looking for you and my parents. I even have berries to plant, which they normally eat."

"You oughtn't be so surprised," Iorlas pointed out to him. "Most creatures are so vastly different that it should come as no surprise that they have such different diets."

"That's true," Miyuki nodded in agreement, "But I think it's because the Eevee might look similar to some animals you know Uncle Dareon?"
She always thought it looked cross between a cat and some really fluffy dog. Both of which were meat eaters mainly.

Daeron shook his head. "Its tail reminds me a bit like a really bushy fox's tail," he admitted, "but aside from that ... no. Their body structure is entirely unlike anything I've ever seen."
If he knew more animals, he might have thought of a few, but he had not made animals his study.
"Without the tail, it might look something like a cavi," Iorlas volunteered. "They're a bit of a rare creature on this continent, but I've seen a few."

Miyuki looked down at the Eevee, she had never thought about that, but when her uncle put it that way, she could so see a fox's tail.
"What does a cavi look like and what is it like?" she asked Iorlas with interest.
