Freya opened her beak to drive Shun crazy some more, when the old man she'd been coddled against woke up. So instead, she just tweeted up musically at him, and acted as precious as possible. Watching Shehk would've made him dizzy if he wasn't so enraptured in such a captivating story. ZOOM? WHOAAAAA?!

"O-Only one way finding out! Hold still." He waddled over and paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to do this. He didn't exactly have a posable thumbs or claws even . . . But zen swallowed up those doubts, and with calmness that could only have been manufactured in a place like this, Mort sorta straddled her, clung on with his limbs like a sort of meaty backpack, and flapped his wings furiously.
Somehow, it worked. Mort wasn't going to question how because he was too busy making sure they didn't hit something as the pair careened through the air like a drunk balloon.

Vixi started pacing. Many had gone up that hill but only a few had come back down.
What was up there? Some had come down, so surely it wasn't some scary thing like the earlier creature? They would have come down battered and bruised. Was there something wondrous instead?One foot in front of the other, she timidly started towards where the others had gone. A creature popped out and started lecturing her about zen or something, but Vixi shrieked and by the time it got a word out, Vixi had already dashed back down to the bottom of the hill. "And we they didn't even sell Fear candy too, you had to make it yourself, by hand." The old man fished in his inside pockets and pulled out a few Fear candies for the precious minipets. Perhaps it would occur to the turned-minipets at some point how this supposedly not-quite-minipet could talk to other minipets. "With just bare Fear supplies, a wrench, and simple equipment to make it work, and we didn't have actual Fear supplies, it was just whatever we found off the ground."
A pause as he considered Shun's question. "What? Speak up son, I can't hear you."
The key card however, started literally buzzing, very much similar to a Skellyphone on vibrate mode. It continued to buzz intermittently and then make a ping noise, and then suddenly declare in a rather loud voice:
"Home device activated. Counting down to portal home in 3...."
Homing device for what?
"Counting down to portal home in 2..."
"And we didn't have items that we could pick off the floor, we had to actually farm them ourselves, with our own time and effort. You kids these days with your newfangled technology, those strange phones that are skelly, and those skelly apps and those..."
"Counting down to portal home in 1...."
"And frightwriters didn't even exist yet, we had to use simple things, like a piece of paper, and a Haunted Pen, and Haunted Pens only came in one colour, none of those fancy colourations that..."
"Portal to Seafear Islands activated. Have a nice day!"
Everything was engulfed in bright white light.

Edel would have noticed the rather large crowd of minipets gathering on top of the hill for some reason, leading her to assume that they should be checking it out. But even before she could suggest it to the company that had gathered, Roch, Amphi, Ren, Mitzi and Vixi, the jester treat had already taken off and sped uphill with relative ease. The response would be, naturally, to follow him up there, though she decided that things could go at a bit more leisurely pace. She was getting a little tired from all the flying around after all.
Still, Edel could not help but devote quite a bit of her attention to the kirinni Amphi, a mermaid she had been told. She had to admit, it was heartening to see them so .... comfortable. And cuddly with each other. And as always, it was very amusing to see Roch acting the way he was now.
The flight up the hill was not easy to say the least, the winds seemed bent on holding her and the rest of the minipets back and tossing them down the hill in sudden and strong gusts. Never mind, Roch would find out and come back to tell them what next no? And at that moment when she stopped, something was counting down in a very ominous voice. Edel groaned and sat on the ground, resigned. Was there no peace to be found in minipet land too? No?
