Post 209 Fear would cringe as her tail was bitten. She held on, waiting for Chael to give an order. "Lift your tail then use Hyper Fang." the boy said. She nodded, thrusting her tail, which the Sandile was latched onto, upwards. She looked up and jumped, teeth bared. The Rattata was aiming for his center to land a Hyper Fang. ((1-10 flinch, 91-100 miss.)) While the Sandile got a boost from using Dark moves, Fear recieved the same from Normal typed moves. Powder Snow inflicts damage and has a 10% chance of freezing the target. 1-10 is frozen. And that second Hyper Fang was enough to put the Sandile out of commission. The croc's body convulsed with pain, and it couldn't so much as hold on any longer with its jaws. Gage growled. So much for relying on luck for a painful flinch to get the upper hand, and it didn't help either that rat knew such a good move. But that thought brought a smirk to Gage's face. "Do two Hyper Fangs in a row next time. You could have knocked out my 'Dile sooner. Quick Attack is better as a finishing or interrupting move." The red light from Sandile's pokeball engulfed the brown and black croc and he was returned. Only one choice for who was up next. Gage tossed the pokeball with Spheal in it, and the blue ball of happiness bounced as soon as he had formed out of the bright light. "Battle time. Game face on, Spheal." The big happy grin on the pokemon's face turned to a serious scowl in the flip of a switch. Again Rattata was the faster of the two and would have the chance to move first. Yet Gage didn't have to hesitate, hoping that Spheal could sneak in the move before the rat was prepared. "Powder Snow." Post 210 While Gage had been picking through his Pokemon, Chael recalled his own. Fear walked away, tail raised high. Show that punk to mess with HER. His Timburr had been selected. After all whenever an opponent was defeated, the trainer was given the choice of switching his Pokemon out. Once the Powder Snow hit, a thin sheet of ice covered him. Not enough to Freeze him but still. The ice began to glow wildly. It shattered, launching ice in every direction. In its place roared a Gurdurr, arms raised in the air. Lowering them, he saw his wooden log turned into a metal beam. Epic. The Gurdurr stood, waiting for a command. "Use Chip Away Bruce." Chael said, a little dumbfounded. The fighting type grabbed the edge of his bludgion and charged towards the Spheal. Like chipping away at marble, he would strike the ice type where it stood! (100% accurate. Overlooks stat changes.) (( Argh, I'm used to playing by the Set rules, not Switch. That's also how I did my gym battle.
But once Chael switched to a Fighting type, Gage wouldn't have done Powder Snow, since Ice has a type disadvantage against Fighting moves. So now I'm just confused. )) Gage was no fool. He wouldn't have thrown out Spheal to battle against a Fighting type, but this was also what he was waiting for. As Gurdurr closed the gap, immediately the round Clap Pokemon vanished back into its ball. Replacing it an second later was the ghostly Yamask. The Chip-Away attack would go right through. One big swing and nothing. Yamask just blinked. Gage bet that the kid would switch again, probably dumbfounded by the move that had no effect at all. "Get ready!" Yamask had never battled before, unsure of its own power. Already it was starting to tear up, frightened and there was something always odd about Yamask - they were actually the ghosts of people. Post 211 Chael mentally cursed as Gage switched his Pokemon. To a ghost no less. He guessed he'd have to switch out Bruce.... na just playing. If Gage thought he'd get past Chael that easy, he'd be sorely mistaken. He had made sure to give Bruce some defense against ghosts. And that, was two words. "Ok, use Rock Throw!" he ordered. Bruce would turn to the Yamask. With a spin, he tossed his metal bar at the ghost. Metal was, after all, a refined and more dense rock. The metal beam would spin as it flew towards the Yamask. (90% accuracy. 91-100 is a miss.) "Defend yourself!" Yamask, all flustered from the sudden battle, did the only thing it could think of with Gage yelling at him and a huge metal bar flying towards him - he raised his mask in his hands and braced for impact. With a loud clang the bar barreled into the ghost, knocking it backwards, but before it hit the ground it faded out of sight. Reappearing hovering above the ground, Yamask sniffled, looking forlornly at the newly evolved Bruce. "Yam', Astonish!" Quickly fading out of view again for a couple of seconds, Yamask rushed forward straight at the Gurdurr, and then aiming to go straight through, clapping hands loudly in attempts to startle the Fighter. They would have to try and finish this match quickly. They needed a powerful move to end this. Wait... "Use Bide!" Chael called out. Bruce would tighten his muscles, waiting to be hit. (Always hits, so no need to roll. You can just roll twice if you want to save time. Bide hits Ghost types as of Gen IV.) Well, Yamask wasn't as powerful yet as Gage needed him to be, but the way that the kid was playing, maybe he'd just beat this one after all. "Astonish, again." It was a repeat of the first attack, Yamask went right for Bruce, again slapping its hands together loudly to attempt for the flinch. "And now ..." Protect protects the user from all effects of moves that target it during the turn it is used, including damage. Protect has a 50% decaying rate of success on the current turn if Protect was used successfully on the previous turn. Waiting the right amount of time, Gage had a good feeling of when Gurdurr would strike back from the stored power of Bide. One Astonish wasn't much damage, yet Gage thought it even better if Yamask took NO damage. "Defend yourself! And use your goddamned Protect this time." In fear Yamask shuddered and raised its mask again like a mini-shield, yet this time a glowing force spread out from the golden metal. Bide wasn't going to get through. ____  A pokemon without his trainer, the Ninja Pokemon was not fearful at all. Moving with extreme speed and stealth, Ninjask expertly maneuvered over buildings, under power lines, through gaps, and around signs. Searching for his fellow pokemon, Ninjask did not have to go far until he spotted the female Tiny Swallow. She was a blue gem among the gray concrete. The battle going on drew the insect's eye, and Ninjask came to a hover next to Taillow on her perch on the lamp post. The note was swapped between them, as well as a few words, then Ninjask zipped off again once Taillow held the note from Nolan in her beak. She'd wait until Chael was finished with this fight before she delivered it. Besides, she didn't want to interrupt, she was learning quite a lot about battling. Post 213 And Bruce would take a turn for the worst, surging energy away from him, only to be blocked. Chael had caught note of the Ninja Pokemon. One would never tell, but the Bug type was his favorite. People saw them as the lower class of Pokemon, while in actuality their could hold their own. In short, he liked underdogs. However Nolan did say Twill would send messages for him, so Nolan probably did the same. "I gotta go soon, my friend and I are going to Fort Ammoa. Let's just cut it short at a two on two instead of four on four. If its a tie breaker, you can keep the stone." he would say as he nodded to Bruce. The fighting Pokemon had been hit twice and the ghost once. But luckily his evolution added some security. Bruce would spin his body once, tossing his metal beam at the ghost once again. Disable - the last move that the target used will be disabled for 4-7 turns. 100% accuracy. "If you're sure kid ..." Gage snickered and pushed his sunglasses up higher to hide the greedy twinkle in his violet eyes. Yamask was quickly becoming his favorite of the bunch. "Because I'm going to win this one. Yamask, now use your Disable!" After the ghost recovered from taking another Rock Throw with the metal beam taking him down again, he was starting to look scuffed and damaged. Yet, fearing his trainer, Yamask quickly used its Disable, and locking eyes with Bruce, a pulse of dark psychic energy radiated off its body. Rock Throw would be blocked away from use. Post 214 Disable wouldn't need to do anything, Bruce has fallen over, passed out. Chael would return his Pokemon. "In the past three days I have recieved one loss, one win, and now one tie. I have trouble seeing where I stand as far as being a good trainer." Chael said to Gage. About to walk away, Argos walked into place on the makeshift arena. "What're you doing?" Chael plainly asked. It wasn't actually a loss. He had felt generous and decided to give the guy a break by giving him the stone. But Argos would have no part of seeing his trainer recieve a tie. In his eyes, it was a loss. The proud Pokemon would not let his trainer receive a failure as long as he was conscious. And that was a fact. Raising an eyebrow, Chael said to the Croconaw "Fine, if it's that important to you." Argos barred his teeth, low purr building up in his throat. He had insulted his friend Fear, talked down to Argos's own kind, and smelled funny. The crocodile, as always, wanted to fight.
