Giving Selena a who the ******** are you again-look, she turned her attention to Heidi with a frown. Who was babbling about her dress, glancing down Velda looked at what she was wearing and decided that yes, it was a very pretty nightgown. She gave the hunter a firm nod of agreement, and oh there was Sleigh, where is her souvenir Sleigh, where is it? "Sedated," Velda answered flatly, seeing no presents for her on the other woman's person. "Sleigh. Do you think I'm stupid?" She summoned Mela, the staff glowing brightly with a full charge. Where had she gotten that charge...or rather who had she beaten for that charge?Pale blue eyes lightened even further and the staff glowed even brighter as she raised it to... Oh what a pretty stone! Lowering her staff, Velda beamed happily up at Megan, "Thank you!" And gave her a big hug. She glanced over at Jared and gave him a nod, but remained where she was. "I'll take care of Lars after the mission," she mumbled into Megan's bosom. It was warm there. "You're my favourite."

"It's always creepy, dark, and scary when those things are involved." He didn't need to say what things to the girl - they were all struggling to hold one down for the FEAR hunters. "But nobody came all this way just to turn around in front of the portal. Least if we all die, we die trying. Poor bastards out there don't have a clue." To the other guy, a brief nod of the head. "The name's Mark, and the DAMN IT--" The creature's escape was forceful enough to bowl Mark over, and in the ensuing chaos he didn't even catch another sight of it till it was already good and dead. At Velda's sudden interest, he gave C a sidelong glance that suggested they don't draw too much attention to themselves right now.

Cliff's assurance made her feel warm inside. Maybe she was getting things right, for once. It felt good to know she was on the right track. She leaned against him, listening to the harmonica when he got back to playing it, and only after taking her time enjoying the moment did she start to move. She pulled his jacket off of her reluctantly, and wrapped it back around his shoulders. Then she reached over, and placed one hand on his cheek. The other slowly pushed away the harmonica, and she gave him a sweet smile before kissing his lips. It was chaste, and gentle, but still very much full of affection. When she pulled away, however, her eyes were bright. "Talk to him." She whispered, her eyes flickering over to the man he'd kissed, Isaac, before turning back to Cliff and pinching his cheek gently. She stood up before he could react, and stretched her body out. "Before it's too late." And as was the way with Em, she started bouncing off without any goodbye, unsure if the conversation was over, or would ever be over. It was as if Em was still caught in several conversations, never ending, and that was the way she liked it.

Selena's lips twitched upwards as C desperately tried to play innocent. She kept her mouth shut, twirling Red Fish with one hand-- now that the excitement was over (and she'd missed it) she could go back to being bored. "But of course, why didn't I realise that sooner, girl!" Selena exclaimed, gripping C's upper arm with a vice grip. "It's just sleeping. Of course!" She watched the look Mark gave C with nothing more revealing than a curved brow...but as it turns out, he at least he had SOME sense of self preservation. She'd thought he'd quashed it long ago.

"Jeez Lars. You think at a time like this you'd be trying to make sure people are going to watch your back, instead of stabbing it." He paused, as if something just occurred to him. "Oh wait, that's your job, right." He waved it off, resting his head on his other hand.
How Lars ever managed to become a hunter was beyond him. How he managed to stay a hunter even more so. The man was a walking, talking disaster. Everything he touched, he managed to ******** up. That and then there was the whole issue with stealing another hunters weapon. Cody would love to know how he wormed his way out of that one.

Understood these things? If only, dear Isaac. If only.
"No punching," she warned him in a mumble, still rather in some turmoil of the possibilities, the implications. They were supposed to be her brothers, not . . . not . . . ! "Please no punching." She'd had enough of violent responses already from the group around them.
The Death hunter ran a hand down her face (and immediately regretted it, since it was quite cold) before, without thinking, taking Adam's hand to tote him along. She knew the guy had a tendency to get quiet, and she could only wonder what he was thinking. It might have been hours before the actual mission, but things just seemed to speed along in Zoey's view.
And just to make sure, she also took Isaac's free hand - while in awe of his FEAR hunter status, Zoey was not a big fan of the creature he carried, whatever good he did with it. The monster was an intrusive little voice in his head, tolerated only because she didn't know how to confront something like that without, say, rattling the man's head open.
Grey-brown eyes went sharp for Cliff's iconic hat in the crowd as they moved. It was childish holding hands like this, but forgive a girl with strong ties to get touchy when there was a countdown to what looked like doom for them all.
More childish? Her high-pitched shouts. "Cliiiiiiff! Cliff, get your Southern butt over here!"Anyone Who's Currently With Cliff

It was at that moment that Megan realized she had made a mistake. Oh god Velda- Velda was in her bosom. She pat the division leader's head lightly, looking at others around her with the silent plea, ' Oh god save me' "You're welcome and uh... Thank you." A weak smile as Megan felt this was so awkward where was her division leader or Velda's keeper this was not going to help her on the mission Velda's face was in her boobs. Velda. She liked her boobs free of face. Please stop. Please. "Um...shouldn't you be with the other division leaders Velda? I mean, we don't want to fall behind of have anyone mucking anything up right?"

When given the incredulous stare by Velda, Selena schooled her face so it wouldn't show that she was hurt. Really. It had happened so many times now that she had just gotten kind of used to it. Instead, she got mad-- and rummaged around in her bag, carefully pulling out a little box, with a single corner kind of squashed. She stomped over to Velda, eyes narrowed, and thrust it out. "From Madrid," she muttered, scoffing a little. Inside it was a tiny bull...with boots. Take that, Velda's memory and love for shinies. Take that.

Mark made a silent but exaggerated pantomime of clapping, cheering, and giving Megan two big thumbs up. It wasn't clear if it was for sparing them all or for the girl hug. Actually, knowing Mark, it was probably both.

Oh jeezuuusss she was not thinking right. She recoiled in sheer terror as Velda summoned her weapon, and guarding her face with her forearm, she began to plead. "Wait, wait, heeey wait, you'll never get your-" Thank you? Moving her arm away, she caught a glimpse of the hug. She had no idea who that was, but they'd get a few rounds on her later. C rubbed her palms into her face and tried to take a deep breath, which was sharply interrupted by the apparent can of whoopass Selena was unleashing upon her arm, "Ow ow ow ow hey, s**t, one sec!" She reached into her shirt, pulling out what appeared to be a stack of colorful parrot-shaped papers. Pinching the top one, she released the rest, letting them unravel into a full garland of rainbow parrots. "Better than a postcard," she chimed, draping them across Velda like a terrible, fragile boa. With that, she turned to address her compadres, hooking one arm over each of their shoulders. She was silent for once, just standing there entirely lopsided, wondering if she'd ever be able to do this again.

"Fffff..." It was her worst fear. It was easy to shake her up, but NEVER this easy to shake him up. This did not bode well for what was about to occur. Not at all. All the colour drained out of her face as she idly nodded.
"I see... I see. So. This might be it then eh sir?" She forced a playful little smirk. "The apocalypse is coming. The end is nigh."

Oh, was it time to give Velda her offering? Hurray! Em sidetracked from her bouncing to a random direction, and headed towards those around her division leader instead. She perched just above Selena's shoulder, letting her chin rest there as she fished out her present. "Velda, baby! I have one for you, too, just like I promised!" She held out the tiny little glass unicorn she'd been holding in wait for Velda, putting it in the woman's hand before returning to rest on Selena's shoulder. "Happy New Year, Ms. Velda~."

He smiled at her, not wanting to drag things down any further and happy to go with her lighter tone. "Hah. Yeah. Exactly. At least we are guaranteed one hell of a hogmanay no matter how it turns out. Probably better if we just treat it as a party, with weapons, chaos and possible death" he patted her back with his usual excessive force. "We just need to dominate the dancefloor." he had to laugh at the absurdity of the metaphor.
"No point in getting down about it really, we just need to go out there and do what we all do best."

It took a few minutes but eventually the tiny leader detached herself from Megan. She would have gone off to go terrorize the other leaders with unreasonable demands, uncomfortable questions, and silent laser-like stares that asked if they had brought her souvenirs. They were in New York so where were her presents? But then Selena manned up and took one for the team, and Velda happily latched onto her instead. "Thank you, I'm going to name him Hobart. I like that name, but Henry didn't suit it at all." And then she was getting paper rainbows of birds and oh the most beautiful glass unicorn, looking up at the hunters with a flushed face and large watering eyes, Velda seemed unusually overwhelmed. "Th...than..." She looked like she was about to cry. Fortunately, a large hooded figure gently pried her off Selena, but not before taking a moment to give her chest an approving smirk, and then lifted the Life Leader up and carrying her away, "You're a spoiled little s**t, you know that," Henry sniped. The Life leader just buried her head against her shoulder, and murmured softly, "Most of them are going to die tonight." "Much easier when you think they hate you, isn't it?" "Yeah."

Elaine frowned at the Life leader and the commotion going on, she stared at her weapon worriedly and gave the bow a soft caress. She had better get this thing charged up, after that...rousing speech she felt less then hopeful about the outcome of her latest mission.
Why couldn't they have just left her out in the middle of nowhere to finish her research? With so many hunters going on tonight's mission...who would be left to document it all if they never came back?
"Excuse me, but are we out of creatures to charge our weapons with?" She was trying to peek at cages but everything was so hectic and crowded.
