The pokemon's tail would be caught in the bird's beak as the pain made him sqwark loudly and he turned around as swiftly as possible as part of the limb hit the floor limply. Teeth posed to attack as he would swing to try and catch the bird in the area between beak and face with a bite. It was time to get some pay back afterall ....as he went with another Bite.

Crowe would give a startling caw, his wings scraping against the walls as they reflexively opened. The Skarmory hadn't been expecting the Rattata to turn around so quickly; no less to have it's large yellow teeth so close! Perhaps death had made him a little jumpier before...or maybe it was simply because he was used to fighting in a wider space, striking from above rather then behind.
Snapping his beak shut, the Skarmory would tuck it inward toward his chest, attempting to broaden the strike zone of the rodent's attack and lessen the damage.

The Rattatta's movements were very swift as it caught a hold. As it felt it's teeth puncture through more than just metal. Raven had forgotten as well, that a newly hatched Skarmory's metal wasn't as strong as it was when they have had time to develop. That meant that Crowe defensives were no where near as high when it comes to such things as the Rattata finding flesh had already decided not to let go ...as he tries to tighten his hold, tries to sink his fangs in even further.
With his entire body ...more than likely going to be swept off of the ground he wasn't going to let go nor release until the bird was dead or he was.

Raven's mind wasn't the only one that little fact had slipped. His original birth being so long ago, Crowe had actually managed to overlook the necessity of hardening his feathers...mostly be bedding in a nest made of brambles, thorns, thistles, sharp sticks. Really anything pointy. A natural part of Skarmory nesting it naturally served two purposes. Toughening the chicks in the nest, as well as protecting them from predators. Few egg eaters were properly equipped to get passed a nest such as their's.
Cawing harshly in pain, Crowe would begin thrashing about in an attempt to dislodge the Rattata. When that seemed insufficient he would aim to slam his breast into the wall. The Rattata was soon to be caught between two very hard spots. He'd have to let go or be a rodent pancake!

Once twice, swing around the Rattata dangled in the air as he would feel his body hit the side once. Twice, and then one final hard time before he was flung away to land on the ground ......he wasn't as hurt as he should have been. He had enough blood running down his face, but, he hadn't meant to be let go ....as he stood up slowly smiling a bit. The Rattata was forced free, but not before he took something else with him ...a piece of his opponent as he spit out a bit of flesh that wasn't all metal. His mouth was red with blood as he showed off his teeth ....it had worked, and now the Rattata was one more on the defense as he stood there with his legs spread and his entire fur up.
He would stumble a bit, but he finally made a decision as he started to run.
He wasn't turning to run away this time, but instead would charge forwards instead. He had learned something quite interesting in that moment ...if the bird's feathers weren't as hard as they should be ...then what did that mean about his own ability to adjust to strange or bizarre moves?
He didn't know, but he had already lost hold of what might have been a life or death grip for him, and he was willing to accept the consequences as he charges forward in his attempt to dodge the incoming move.

Blood dribbled down Crowe's breast, streaking through the grooves of his metal feathers and dripping to the floor. His talons dug into the floor beneath him, sliding slightly upon his own blood. For a moment the Skarmory stood there in horror, memories of his defeat against the Magmar running through his mind. The agony of the flames as they lapped against his body...but he didn't feel heat...no...his body felt cold...so cold...colder then steel....cold as death's icy grip.
That feeling was rooted in the back of his mind now, and he couldn't shake it.
Shivering slightly, the Skarmory began to beat his wings as best he could in such a confined space; a slow, haphazard motion. Hopefully that movement would bring warmth...heat of the body...
Instead the air around him only seemed to grow colder around him, the current of the breeze beginning to pick up with each renewed beat of his wings. The air took on a faint glow then, small shimmering specks of ice drifting off in the direction of the Rattata as the wind began to howl. This wasn't an ordinary gust of wind...it carried the bitter sting of a winter's day....this was Icy Wind!

It would happen all at once as the entire vent would suddenly go cold ....as the ice would spread from the ceiling to the floor. The rattata would jump in fear of what had happen ..., but he had seen pokemon use varies moves ...he wasn't sure if he could remember if the flying metal death has every used cold moves. Either way he shivered, but his fur was enough to protect him as everything else seem to be come coated with it.
The battle field itself had just changed, but the pokemon had no plans of changing his attack as he would rush at him again. His aim this time was for the legs like before ....though he stood ready that this pokemon might decided to try and sit down ...as he skidded on the ground ...his traction not as good as before thanks to the ice.

Crowe would look on in surprise even as his wings continued to beat. It would seem the icy grip of death itself had managed to leave a more significant scar upon his soul then he'd expected. He'd lost the bravery which once allowed him to charge recklessly forward...but in return something had been left behind.
Narrowing his gaze, the Skarmory would lift his wings above his head, stretching them out as far as he could manage in this location. Moving the center fold of his wings ,Crowe would begin stirring up a smaller but much more rapid gust. His heart froze as he focused on that day...the day he died...attempting to pass on the bone chilling cold of that day. He was countering with another Icy Wind!
Raven in the mean time would simply stand their in silent shock. Simply put...he hadn't known Crowe could do that.

(5- 5 + 7 - 8 = -1 (no dmg)
The move would be enough ....as the Rattata's feet couldn't find the right traction. As the move wouldn't find the right spot to clamp on ...even as more of the icy wind would buffet the rat enough to make him lose his grip on what little bit of a hold he managed to get as he would blown backwards. The ice would kind of stick to his fur as he shivers once sending the ice spraying everywhere to clatter against the ground lightly.
His claws still stuck int he ground as his snaps the air lightly as his ears went flat against his skull. His teeth showing as he kept where he was standing on his own defensive. He wasn't going down easily at all.

Rather then continue his assault, the Skarmory would be forced to halt his actions, taking a breather as he felt the warmth return to his body in a sudden rush. Sustaining such an attack... fuelled by his own fear and pain...was beginning to take it's toll.
Before Crowe could further purse any form of assault, the light cool feeling of something wet against his back would suddenly appear. Behind him Raven now held a Potion, the bottle itself empty, and the contents spread across the Skarmory's steely plumage. The boy was not about to make the same mistakes he had in the past.Crowe HP: 12/12

Though that moment of healing was an opening that Rattata couldn't pass up. With such a move, the pokemon would lose the ability to counter his attack that turn, and was stuck only being able to defend. It was a win ...win situation as the Rattata jumped at him. Teeth showing as he once again tries to use bite, but he would leap for his head ....where the spray had done the most to heal, and where he wanted to put a stop to the healing before the pokemon was well again.
HIs claws leaving the floor completely as he lunged.

Crowe's eyes would narrow...actually they'd shut almost instantly. A brief chill went down his spine. Though he'd been healed, part of him still feared what the rodent had done to him previously. Mocing haphazardly, the Skarmory would lean forward, swinging his head violently down. His beak wasn't in place for an attack, rather he seemed to be trying to swat the Rattata in much the same fashion a human might an insect. Hoping to simple knock it away if he couldn't harm it.((....How would using a Potion on my turn prevent me from countering on the next? I'm legitimately curious and confused...))

(Sighs, it's not confusing Grey, you withheld your roll the last turn .....so technical it's still the turn where you took the potion. You can't attack, because your pokemon is being healed, and is forced into defenses, and counter-attack ....is an attack, grey. Think of using a item, like your pokemon flinching if that helps.)
It would work as the Rattata hit the ground on all fours. Ears flatten against his skull he would ready himself for the next attack that might come his way as he looked to also dart away if necessary. His tail whipping through the air as he showed his anger and rage over the entire event.
Once more the advantage of having a trainer was evident as he glares at Raven as he stood on a defensive way.

((LunLun? That wasn't a counter-attack. My posts are all after yours in the turn. You rolled a 9 for Defense back there; but instead of attacking I used a potion, thus using up my turn. ))
((That is why calling your attack a counter and saying I could not counter confused me. That was your attack turn. As in not my turn anymore. confused ))
((I'm also wondering why using an item and not rolling is creating this issue seeing as I've done it hundreds of times in the past without you saying anything..))

Tilting one his head slightly to the side, the Skarmory would open one eye slowly. He was more then a little surprised that had actually worked. Deciding now might be a good time to press his luck, the armoured bird would thrust his beak forward in a simple Peck. Hopefully he'd be able to actually end this battle.((Just to keep things moving along...))
