[ The Staircase ]
Van appeared behind the hippogryph. He had been rubbing himself on the floor and walls to try and get rid of both the kiss marks and the smell of fruit. "It was too small to eat me. Besides, cute animals have trouble digesting metal, or so I'm told," Van chimed in, as if he was being helpful. Van's initial plan, which he had begun to execute, was to book it for the landing and not look back. However, a few steps up, it had been so nauseating to continue with this scent that he just could not bear it, hence his return to the base of the stairs, where he had followed the stranger up. He had started to call his name, but then realized he didn't know it.
"I'm Cervantes, as an aside," he said as he stepped up beside the demon. "You're the better-smelling one," he added, and promptly did his best to rub some of the gross fruit scent off his own skin and absorb some of the more normal smell of the hippogryph. Normal, at least in terms of being more pleasant than fruit and children. It didn't really bother Van that the stranger probably wouldn't want him to do that, and he wasn't particularly concerned about any violent response. Although it did, very briefly, occur to him that his travelling acquaintance would probably try to distance himself from the too-enthusiastic dog demon. Not that Van cared about that either. His goal was to get to the top of the house, for better or worse.
"I'd feel more comfortable if we were on the first landing," Van finally said, once he had stopped trying to rub the foreign scent off on the hippogryph. Where was the water demon, anyway?

((staircase)) "It was...interesting." Poke eventually said to Cuinn , not sure how else she could explain it. "Fun at times, I went into a maze with some raptor thingies, but sometimes it was pretty embarrassing. I ended up in a blue miniskirt" She shuddered at the thought. Dress were alright (although she much preferred a pair of pants or jeans) but a mini skirt? no thankyou, She turned to shun whom had answered her question, although it was a rather brief answer. She sighed, shrugging her shoulders and merely following along at this point. It seemed that talking to this guy was like getting blood out of a stone. At least though she was on the same page as everyone; they ha dno idea what was up next, Except traps.

((Hallway)) She listened intently to what the were lemur had to say, mulling over the new information. Natalia's recount of school life has pretty much matched up to what she had been expecting it to be, though Edel suspected that there was more to the overwhelmingly positive review – parts which Natalia was not so inclined to share. Had she taken that into account? Probably. The school may not be that safe a place after all. Things to do outside of school.... the town. That snippet of information piqued Edel's interest immediately. Indeed, it was convenient that the school and a few amenities within the area which would add up to a more wholesome experience. The frost demon was now even more convinced that coming to the academy would be a decision she wouldn't regret. Before Edel could thank Natalia for sharing her insights, someone else had caught the were lemur's attention - another ghoul had wandered down the hallway. White skinned and donning wings with colouration similar to a Macaw's, a chimera apparently according to Vero. The frost demon continued to listen in for the insect-like boil's analysis for it was an intriguing description, thinking little of Natalia's particularly strong interest in the beautiful chimera ghoul. Her focus instead, had shifted towards two more newcomers, a grombie and a blue-haired ghoul (whom Edel found a little familiar from the Scario Kart booth in Open House.) Nonetheless, she had yet to greet the three ghouls that joined the party, but the excited strix was already onto it and giving them (sans Merry) a warm embrace. Edel watched the group socialise and the insect boil deduce each of their species, bemused by the ongoing conversations which she only caught bits and fragments of. (Mostly kittens, Ulmuka being a strix, Merry's diverse progeny) Then came her turn to introduce herself. “ Good evening Merry, Levia, Tsubaki. I'm Edelweiss, Edel if you prefer,” she said, greeting each of them with a bow. The frost demon was not accustomed to being around a group of so many people but it was not as if she felt uncomfortable around her current group. After all, they did seem to be getting along pretty well....especially so between Natalia and Merry. (she finally takes notice of the instant chemistry) There was little time for her to strike up a conversation - Ulmuka was already urging the gender-disproportionate group ahead. Pacing down the glittery hall, pass the sickeningly pink drapes of curtains, Edel wondered what else could lie ahead.

Faint was a little shocked to feel the bear tip under him. Had he gained that much weight? He’d have to work out a little harder from now on. As glitter again rained down he let out a curse leapt backwards, landing at the bear’s feet before he fell on his a** with a little chuckle. Oh jack. He’d squished Demi. Oh that was priceless. He almost didn’t want to help Riley lift the bear, but his guilt for squishing the other boil soon set in.
He lifted himself and dug his claws into the bear once more, heaving with all his strength. Despite being filled with stuffing, it was unusually heavy. He was afraid to question why that might be, and made it a point not to explore inside the stuffing. Instead, he threw he weight on his shoulders, and with the combined effort of the three students the bear shifted, allowing just enough wiggle room for the two boils to, hopefully, back it out alive. Or, undead. Whichever the case called for.

Ulmuka seemed to be very pleased with Vero's multiple arms and the fact he seemed to be able to hold (almost) everyone's hands at once. He squashed thoughts of eating bugs because he was genuinely enjoying the other's company. The more in the group the better as far as the strix was concerned. The various flavored energies wafting about him, the excitement and the youthful energy all amped up by the unusual circumstances of the haunted house. To the strix it was... well almost perfect! Except for all the glitter. It was still clinging to those of them who'd enjoyed the kitten party. The Strix's fluffy hair practically glowed in the pinkish lights that beamed down in the hallway. Every now and then a piece would fall from his head, drifting in front of his eyes, and he let go of his companion's hands to ruffled his hair in agitation. Of course the hair ruffling caused a further shower of glitter, getting on anyone in his vicinity. "Oh goodness.." He paused as they approached another group of students who were climbing out from under and off of a giant yellow teddy bear. GIANT. Apparently it had attacked them and in response they'd torn it to shreds. "Delightful!" He wanted to swoop forward, introduce himself and congratulate them on their triumphant battle, but the hallway was crowded enough as it was. He did note that they were Natalia's furry friends from the kitten room and there were at least two very muscular and shirtless boils. Perhaps the ghouls with him would show interest.

Tsu…it sounded so familiar, and that hair…UGH, she simply could not remember anything, even as her gaze fell upon the demon and stayed there for quite a long while…leaving a furrow of her brow as she pulled away to scan the rest, a look of complete frustration apparent. “It is a pleasure to meet all of you. My name is Natalia.”
Kids were everywhere now, magnetically pulled to their once tiny group for the simple reason that they were last in the hallway line up. Several curves and dips away and they would have been mingling with LW and her boils, plus Riley and whomever else lingered within THAT particular group. It didn’t bother Natalia, enjoying the company and all of the unusual (and delicious) forms that came toddling toward them…
No, she actually LOVED the fact that they had grown so large, and had silently thought so as Muka corralled them forward—after his two ghoul hug had finished.
Vero and Merry’s conversation had interested her just enough for the monster to turn and catch him, curiously, asking what it was that drew Merry to…well, Natalia if only to be exact. ”Far from beastly…” Natalia mused, giving a glance to Merry before prepping to continue. Her lips turned up in a grin, humored in nature however when her mouth moved it was nothing short of disappointment. “Vero love, I know we have only just met but I would highly suggest we keep the profiling to a minimum. For now, anyway.” Her piercing grin did not fade, even as Tsu added on to the deduction he had made. She was quite fond of him already, to the point that if he were accepted tomorrow—the monster would be all over taking him around campus and coddling him like the brother she never had. But boy would she have to teach him how to shut his trap when the moments called for it…
The Grombie that had joined their ranks stole her undivided attention quite suddenly, when her figure could be seen completely in the pink-hued lights of the ceiling and her lips opened to mention something about lunch. As she walked along side the group, reaching out for Muka once again as his arm had become her safe place for the time being, the bosom that boasted its fullness on the ghoul in green and white had the monsters eyes rolling about in delight…But she replied, calmly, turning her head toward Levia, was it?
“I am not entirely sure how long this thing goes on for.”
“But I am sure we do not have to stay in here for the entire time this festival is in session. Let us continue on and see what there is further up?” She would apologize for the hurried response later, not trying to ignore any one individual or another on purpose…
In the distance she too saw the giant, shredded bear at the feet of LW's crew...and the boils with their toys all hanging out as well...and as Muka fled the group to introduce herself, she walked on at a steady pace and would do such in good time. She DID have a little boy hanging onto her, after all.
((Sorry for the fail post ;; I have a horrible headache!))

Attention had twitched back to the bug as he tacked on a bit to her analysis, laughing faintly to herself. Perceptive little thing, though he'd still not deduced it all. She wasn't about to offer him anymore clues though. The accuracy in which prattled off about her, and the others apparently, was just a little unnerving. The distraction of the werelemur's name was a welcome one, and she carefully filed it away for safe keeping within her memory, slow grin once again finding it's way along full lips. Growing even as the other ghoul spoke up to quiet their little friend.
"A pleasure to make your acquaintance everyone," she said with a soft purr, though eyes narrowed slightly as she watched the monster ghoul turn her attention on one of the other ghouls. The grombie specifically, and Merry could see why she might. Still, that understanding did nothing to calm the snowy fur that was bristling at the back of her neck.
It only seemed to fuel the beastly ghoul further when Natalia turned away from the grombie to link her arm with the strix's, the barest of growls bubbling up along the back of her throat before the sound cut up abruptly as he darted forward to to play with the group ahead.
Never one to miss a perfect opportunity, the chimera moved up immediately to take Muka's place. Pale fingertips alighting softly on the other ghoul's elbow as she pressed close to her side. While she didn't particularly mind sharing, she loathed being ignored. So long as she could keep those pretty gold eyes coming back for more she'd be happy. Petty perhaps, but also baser instinct, and Merry was forever ruled by the dueling DNA that made up her being.

((stairway)) Mitsu didn't quite know what to make of the two new students that were with them. Having met Poke before she felt a little more comfortable around the girl but the undead's general demeanor made her cower back even before Xiu could pull her along. At least the canine seemed friendly? Keeping a firm hold on the baku's hand Mitsu silently listened to conversation as they walked through the upstairs landing, her gaze going to Shun fairly frequently. He kept glancing back like he expected something to happen...and it had her on edge. Not necessarily the reaper's actions alone but because she now knew there were traps lying in wait. Hopefully there would be no cats to feed her ever growing fear of the creatures. Tilting her head in the direction of each individual as they spoke about why they were here, Mitsu did her best to be polite and listen intently though she wasn't actively part of the conversation. Though when Cuinn asked about open house the lupine's ears dropped a little. What a traumatic day that had been and Poke just had to bring up the rapalicious. "Y..you don't think there will be anything like that here do you?" The question was aimed toward the people that had attended open house and knew what she was talking about. The wolf girl really didn't want to try fail escaping from rapalicious or cannon cats today.

"Oh, nice. I normally don't like stripes, but since your's are all natural, they look pretty awesome on you." Artemis was glad to talk tattoos with the Were-tiger. And hewas even more glad when the hound student approved of tattoos. "Oh, do you hav-" He was cut short by Merope's explanation of the plan, which Artemis really didn't like. But it was that, or be covered in glitter and be humiliated. No way.
And just as he was about to ask where they would get all the fur and fluff necessary, the whole thing happened. The frightening mass of yellow grabbed Merope, and Artemis pressed himself against the far wall, noticing a ghoul wolf doing the same. Then, the beast fell, squishing Merope and Demi. Oh no. The Tattoo Demon gave a little squeak, and covered his eyes. Oh, Jack help them.
Opening his eyes, he saw that the three others were helping Demi and Merope out from under the monstrosity. Not wanting to be useless, Artemis ran up and helped lift, giving the two more room to get out. He eyed the fluff of the bear, and pondered, like the rest of those around him.
Please Jack, let their not be a ton of glitter in there.

[Staircase]Fuaire’s reaction to Cuinn’s pestering had been interesting, to say the least. The blue undead had failed to take his bait. Instead, he drew in extremely close. That cocky behavior made Cuinn want to bite his nose (that’d teach him for getting in someone else’s face!), but fortunately the cu sith was had enough self-control to keep his smile and pretend that he wasn’t bothered. Ain't it cold. Fffff. Well, that would explain why his elbow was smarting a little bit. Cuinn rubbed it to regain some body heat and replied in a good-natured tone, “Oh nonsense. I’m sure I would have been fine...” While it was true that he knew nothing about frez drah, Cuinn was not particularly concerned. There were a lot of creatures in Halloween Town that he did not understand, and he had gotten by just fine so far. “I bet you’re just wearing two layers to hide your figure ~” An attempt at a joke. Cuinn would have to deal with him some other way. Trying to engage him in idle chit chat clearly was not going to work. Well… That’d have to wait for later. For now, Shun had Cuinn’s attention. “Traps, hm? I just arrived here recently, so I might have missed something. Have you run into any traps other than the collapsing stairs and ball pit?” The very mention of that ordeal sent an uncomfortable chill down the canine’s spine. Next, Poke spoke. Heh. It was hard to keep up with all of these people. “A blue miniskirt?” he inquired, raising a brow. “How did you end up in a miniskirt if it was only a maze?” Clearly there was an interesting story behind that. Ffffff. He should have gone to that open house.

Edit: ::Hallway:: (derp hulloes I'm new xD)
Besides a round and cute looking vase of unnervingly harmless daisy flowers, standing in front of bunnies-hopping-in-a-field themed wallpaper, Zen was reciting spooky music that would have returned a tinge of morbidity to the environment if there hadn't been cute chirping noises mysteriously synchronized to the tune from an invisible source.
This One had seen many a creature walk through the Zentrance to this so-called 'haunted house', and had followed them in with the hopes of finding a busy area to play the flute and receive alms. For a deniZen of halloweentown, This One appeared to adapt rather well to the alien environment. [Although the skeletal Komuso monk had been jumpy at first, once they had settled into their usual routine, the troubling atmosphere had become nothing but background noise.]
Thus, Zen stood at peace, like a highly mismatched prop to the room, even when the chirping noises grew suddenly louder and closer, still following the tempo of their song... small, feathery, beady-eyed things now perched atop This One's shoulders and straw mask. Zen paused, gave a little sigh, and continued regardless.

((Shia hun, if that's a fail post, I don't want to see the length of a win post. XD
And so the two groups meet!))
((Hallway))
Ah, Edel; it had forgotten about her. But what to do? Four hands, six people . . . Aha!
Ever for efficiency, it quickly became apparent what the solution would be. Letting go of Natalia's hand, Vero picked up the ghoul's long tail and stuffed it in the back of its shorts - then it proceeded to pick Edel's hand with his newly freed one.
Of course it still didn't have enough for Merry, but clearly she was happy enough to latch onto Natalia.
And no, Vero did not understand what she meant by "low profile". As far as it was concerned, they were all quite visible and, in Merry's case, colorful enough to negate any sort of camouflage they might have had.
Now in tow with everyone by linking of hands (or arms for Merry), Vero spotted the shredded bear that Mooka pointed out, along with quite a bunch of fuzzy people, the tentacle-head from before, and a new face or two, or decayed face as it were for one - the poor victim of the bear hug, as well as a new demon.
Once again, the little spirit shuddered. This house was beginning to get a bit much for it . . .
"Is it dead?" Vero asked the second group. "Please tell us it is dead."

Levia blinked in surprise once more as her pale hand was grasped by one of Vero's many. All this contact was highly unusual for the grombie. While it wasn't exactly alarming or uncomfortable, she simply wasn't used to it. Like the hug from earlier, she chalked it off to an aspect of the different species, and found herself relaxing some.
Motion caught the corner of her eye, noting Ulmuka's agitation at the fluttering glitter, "Seems gravity is keen on helping you there." She commented as another piece of glitter made a determined path in front of his face.
Natalia's voice caught her attention, red eyes swinging over to appraise her comments, "Indeed. Well, the festival is in town for long enough that I am certain we would have time to cover it all, even if this haunted pathway stretched the entire length of it."
Arching a curious brow, Levia's eyes trailed after the growl, Merry slipping neatly back to her companion's side. She found herself curious as to what sort of ties they had, but the sudden elation of the others and the hard-to-miss-giant-bear drew her attention.
"Whatever are they doing under there?" The grombie tilted her head as if to see what was so interesting under the massive fur. It didn't appear to be all that comfortable.

When it came to going down or going up, Calder always picked down. Stairs in all forms bothered him and he generally disliked them on the principle that they weren't that hoof friendly and that they lead to higher places that mean being farther from the ground. Now going into the dark hallway that slanted down was rather inviting. As inviting as a place colored in pinks and glitter could be which was why Calder was wrapping his arms around him and trying not to touch anything. If he got glitter in his hair, he was going to scream. No amount of combing would get rid of that. To think of the poor fool who had to create this haunted house and paint the glitter on made him feel very sad for that worker, and he hoped they had been paid extra for it.
Walking with a steady 'clip clop' of his hooves, Calder walked down the hallway thinking that maybe he should have brought someone to cling to.

Mo paused at the entrance watching people go in a couple come out she wasn't sure what she was thinking. She paused and let out a huge sigh walking inside she stepped on something lifting her foot she found sparkly pink paint. Her eyes twitched she was glad she left her sleeves as she crossed her arms under her chest.
Mo grumbled walking forward when she slipped on the paint she had stepped in earlier bumping into Calder she wasn't sure what she hit Mo just stood up slowly. "Sorry" she mumbled rubbing her nose. She tried to look past the boil ghoul she wasn't quite sure she noticed something Zen uh...is that a statue .
