"It's probably stupid, and a bad idea, but..what if...Akin joined with another pride to create one? I mean...there are so many small prides out there, I'm sure if he could find one that he was allies with they could share land..." She blinked a little then looked over at the small cub. She laughed. "Well, mates can be a good thing. You'll understand when you are older, young one. By the way, you have not given me the pleasure of your name." She gave a gentle smile at the cub, her tail twitching a little.

"My name's Casai." replied the little kitten. "Mates? I say they're overrated... they just take my sister...." It seemed as though she was a bit sore...
Shairi almost snorted. "Daddy would never want to so that... he's too independant..." She sighed. "It might be worth mentioning though... I just want to go with Adrastos..."

"Well, it was a thought." She looked back over at Casai and blinked. "Sister?" She then looked over at her niece. "You mean to tell me..that Akin and..Aunt Kichea had another batch of kittens?" She blinked then looked back at the cub. Why hadn't she seen it before? The resemblence was...just in her face! Anya sighed and flopped her maw down on her forepaws. She was really getting old...

Shairi nodded. "Yes. Mother and Daddy had Casai and Nassie not too long ago."
Casai looked back and forth between the two lionesses, confused. "Daddy and Mommy are going to have more of me and Nessie?"

The female couldn't help but chuckle at her niece. "No, little one. I'm just trying to adjust. I'm your aunt, little Casai." She nosed the kit playfully and smiled. She then looked over at Shairi. "So, let me guess. No males this time?" Her tail flicked slightly knowing that Akintunde wanted a son for his pride. Jayvyn was their only male, but had no intentions of ruling his father's lands. The heir would fall down to the oldest girl then, and it looked like Shairi was it. "And I bet he doesn't want you to leave because he needs someone to fufill his place when he's gone?" She yawned a little and began to lick her wound again.

Shairi sighed and nodded. "I wish he wouldn't though... it's not like he's going to be gone tomorrow... he's still young, and fit... He's at his prime."
Casai nodded. "Oooh. Auntie." She said as she fell backwards from the nosing.

Anya gave her older niece a gentle smile. "Dear Shari, I understand. But remember, lions that are fit and in their prime sometimes fall under an attack or illness from the inside. Moon Lioness and Sun Antelope forbid that happen to your father." She huffed a little at her cub niece and chuckled softly. She licked the little one on the belly.

Shairi nodded. Anya's words were true. "I know it to be true, I just wish it weren't."
Casai giggled as her aunt licked her belly. "No fair! That tickles!" She said pawing at Anya's face.

She smiled at Casai and licked her belly again. Anya looked over at Shairi. "Yes, most times I wish it wasn't either. But you have to remember, these things happen for a reason, my Shairi." She nudged her niece gently on her cheek then sighed again. "Ajani...I hope he's alright..."

"Ajani?" Shairi looked to her aunt. "Is that the name of the other male that I saw?" She grinned deviously as if she had discovered a secret.

She nodded nonchalantly. "Yes. I had brought him over here to talk with Akin after he had asked me to be his Queen. After that, we were supposed to go over to Uncle Karver's place to get a blessing." A small sigh erupted from her throat as her tail twitched. "I wonder how he fairs...he didn't take leaving me too well."

Anya couldn't take it anymore. Her heart was hurting too much. Standing up, she looked over at Shairi. "I'm sorry, my niece, but I have to go!" She turned quickly, her wound reopening as she raced out of her brother's lands. She would not stop until she reached her heart...

Shairi watched Anya go, startled by her sudden urge to leave. "Goodbye, my best wishes and love go with you." She whispered to herself, wishing she had the nerve to leave like that. Adrastos must be worried about her. And what with her possible... she wouldn't think of it in case she was wrong. Shairi looked to Casai.
Casai stared up at Shairi. "You won't leave like that, will you?"
Shairi shook her head. "No. I want Daddy to give me permission to be with him."

Shairi sighed as the days passed. Her belly was growing. She was right about her assumptions. She raised her head as her mother wandered into the cave. "Mother?"
Kichea sat down, eyeing her daughter. "You wish to tell me something." It wasn't exactly a question.
"I do. I'm... Adrastos and I are going to have cubs..." She paused, looking down at her swelling. "I'm... so sorry... but I can't wait for father's approval...." She stood and walked up to her mother, nuzzling her as she did when she was a cub. "I wish to leave now."
"I wish I could grant you your freedom, but it is not my place to say. Your father will not be pleased with you for this."
"I know... Tell him I'm sorry?"
"I will." Kichea said with a helpless sigh. She could only hope that Akin would understand.
"I'll return... to make things right... Promise." She said, pink orbs meeting red ones. "Goodbye for now... mother." And with that, Shairi ran as fast as she could.
