Watching as her cousin's carriage took off rather late in the morning Marnie could hardly contain a chuckle. A delicate point Dragana was making. She knew her cousin had enough ...aplomb to pull it off though.
She rather wished Dragana had taken something to eat on the road though. Or maybe stopping for lunch was a apart of the plan. Who knew?
Alone in the big house Marnie whiled away an hour and went to the library until lunch, then she watched as the dragons brought on a small shower before the evening came. It passed quickly and the lightning bugs had plenty of time to blink on and off.
Heading for a less formal supper than eating in stony silence with Dragana's parents, Marnie went to see if she could eat in the kitchen. She knew Dragana would never have backed down from a merely awkward situation such as a silent dinner. Even so, tonight she didn't have back up, and she needed to mull over some potential courses of action.

As dragons fight to win the night
Dɼagaɲa Єadgyσ Dɼaycє ((I am so friggin' excited right now. Teen Titans might be making a comeback with new episodes!)) Dragana stretched her arms, then leaned out of the carriage to check where the sun was before giving the driver instructions to speed it up just a notch. She'd been in the carriage for a day in a half, leisurely making her way towards the Algernon lands. It hadn't been wasted time, since she'd made sure to check on the state of the roads via dragon spirit and get a sense of how things were working out in the villages and towns she passed through or near. After another hour, they'd crossed over into the land of the Bears and Dragana gave the driver another order to speed up just a bit. She wanted to arrive right on time, after all. Finally, just as the sun was starting to touch the horizon, Astrayl's home came into view. Dragana smiled to herself as the carriage pulled smoothly up and stopped. She'd managed to arrive just on this side of the time limit her future mother-in-law had set for her arrival. The footman came around and opened the door for her, then assisted her out. She stepped down with her usual grace to see Astrayl standing with a welcoming committee that included his apprentice and others who held a certain resemblance to him. She gave her fiance a stunning smile and said, "Hello, my future husband. I came as quickly as I could."Her tone was polite, but underneath it was a note of sarcasm. She was sending a message to her future mother-in-law that the Dragon Whisperer did not bow to anyone unless she chose to. Arriving at the end of the three days was deliberate on her part. Dragana could have made it to the Bear clan the same day of receiving the summons, but she had decided to take her time. Nobody would have her at their beck and call.

(OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG AQUA LAD CAN COME BACK~ TwT So happy. Though have you seen young Justice? I don't think it's still on now, but I really liked it. Robin was super funny in it, but I don't think aqua lad was as cute as he was in TT.) __________________________________________________________________________________________ ~Marnie~
Jonathan waved Marnie in to a butcher block island counter in the middle of the kitchen where a place setting of acceptable chine was laid out for her in full. The other's had more plain earthen ware type dishes and ate at the other side of the table. well all except for Jonathan, who must have realized how that would look.
Marnie thought it would turn into a dinner just as awkward as the one she'd originally tried to avoid, until a rather rotund and capable looking lady began talking in what could only have been her usual manner, as everyone else was quick to follow suit.
Though she was sure they must have avoided some of their more regular topics for her sake. They were all very polite.
The woman seemed to approve of Marnie's willingness to clean her plate in any account. She watched with a maternal eye as Marnie pronged her green and yellow string beans and ate them first.
Marnie had read in one of her father's captain's logs that some cultures didn't respect someone who could not clean their plate. So she always made an effort to do so when in new company.

Astrayl smiled when he saw the carriage and then looked at his parents. His father seemed to be brimming with excitement. The man's body was shaking with enough excitement to cause a small tremor around him. Air was starting to vibrate because of the man. Now his mother had a different air around her all together. She seemed annoyed because Dragana was running it close. It made Astrayl want to break out in laughter. He had never seen his mother so peeved, well he had but just not at someone else.
Dragana greeted him so it only seemed right that Astrayl did the same. "Hello, my future wife." The word wife came out like nails on a chock board but he swallowed it. "I hope you didn't have trouble getting here." He smiled, took her hand and kissed it. Then he stood up and looked at his parents. "Mother, father this is my fiance, Ms. Dragana Drayce." He looked at Dragana. "Dragana." He gestured towards his father. "This is my father Zetsu Algernon." Then he looked towards his mother who angry for a split second but calmed herself. "This is my mother Lady Sakura." His father shook her hand with his large muscle hands. "Nice to meet you. I thank you for taking my sons hand." His father was about to bust out in tears. That was until his mother interrupted. "It is nice to meet you. Thank you for dealing with my son." After she shook her hand, all of them started to walk towards the estate.

Dɼagaɲa Єadgyσ Dɼaycє Dragana nodded politely as Astrayl introduced her to Zetsu and Sakura, then wound her arm around her fiance's. She pitched her voice low so that only her fellow Whisperer could hear it. "So, what is the plan for my visit? Am I to be presented to your entire family and subtly antagonize any women who was previously a potential match for you? Or am I to play the traditional role of daughter-in-law and only antagonize your lovely mother?"She was only half-joking. Astrayl's mother already seemed as if she did not like the Dragon Whisperer. Dragana was not afraid of the woman, since she had the dragon spirits to aid her, but Astrayl would probably not appreciate an all out throw-down between his mother and fiance.

Marnie ate all her dinner and was allowed to take her bowl of berries and cream out to the gardens to eat as she walked.
The sky was starting to dim in the east and it would soon be getting darker. The dragon spirits didn't notice the cold though, and a couple of younger shadow types zig zagged around Marnie's feet as she walked a garden path. Marnie ate a small bite of peach and and looked all around. Now that the day was mostly over, she realized she hadn't done much with herself, and felt quite bored.
She'd already read a book or two, and her walk didn't seem to be calming her down much. ....what to do.

Astrayl smiled as she wove her arm in his. "Well so far you have accomplished only what I have seen in my dreams." Lady Sakura was looking just fine on the outside. Postured, standing tall, proud but Astrayl could tell on the inside that she was angry. "Dragana if I remember correctly your mother is the type to hide her frustration. Rather well too." His mother put her hand on her sword for a split second then let go, in the next second the pillar next to her turned to swiss cheese. "Yeah, my mother doesn't, well she trys but ummm yeah." Astrayl couldn't help but smile a bit. Then he remembered her question. "Oh and act like yourself. Makes it so we don't have to lie about anything." Then he looked at Dragana. "Besides, when you are yourself you are cuter." He smiled and started to walk her towards the bear estate.
When they got their, the maids and butlers were there to greet them. Pei was the first one to walk up to them. "Dragana this is Pei. She is the head maid at the estate." Pei bowed then spoke. "Just call for me whenever you need me." She then disappeared into the shadows. Astrayl looked at Dragana. "Yeah she does that." Then they started to walk around while Astrayl gave a tour of the estate. This lasted until they reached Astrayl's room. "And this is where we will be sleeping." Astrayl smiled at Dragana then his parents. They both nodded and started to walk down the hall. He followed them with his eyes and when they were out of sight he quickly spoke to Dragana. "We can have another room setup if you want?"

Dɼagaɲa Єadgyσ Dɼaycє She smiled at Astrayl's compliment and said, "Then that is what I shall be." In her mind, she added, Not that anyone would know what I'm really like here except for Astrayl, and even he doesn't know me well outside of our Whisperer duties. It struck her that it would be odd to have Astrayl as her husband and act as his wife. It would be even odder to bear his children and raise them as a mother, though she did not doubt that such matters would be on her own terms, regardless of what Astrayl thought about it. She would not be his toy to amuse himself with at night, just as she wouldn't be controlled by his mother. Pei was a solemn woman with a studiously clear expression. Dragana was impressed by her skill at stealing away unobtrusively. This woman could probably rival Jonathan in terms of appearing whenever she was required. After that, Dragana took in the estate, memorizing the layout so that she wouldn't get lost. The tour culminated with them walking towards Astrayl's sleeping quarters and the Dragon Whisperer suddenly felt seized by a sudden, uncharacteristic panic. It was signaled only by the tensing of her arms and the stiff set of her jaw. Was she expected to sleep with Astrayl during her visit? What would she do if he suddenly became overly amorous? Perhaps Astrayl sensed this, because the minute his parents were out of sight, he asked quietly whether she wanted another set up for her. She nodded in answer, relieved that she wouldn't be faced with those kinds of decisions for a while longer. "Yes, please, that would be good." She smiled gratefully at him, her eyes softening just a bit in a way that others rarely saw and that Astrayl had definitely never seen. "My mother and father would collapse of shock if they found we had been sharing rooms before being wed. They never even kissed before their marriage, and it's been that way traditionally for most Drayces. I see little reason to break with it now. It would only cause unnecessary trouble among my people." Dragana smiled again and said, "The life of a noble and Whisperer is not entirely private. Then again, you must know that as well as I."She glanced around, wondering if Pei was nearby and would not have been surprised if the woman appeared right now to arrange everything.

Sighing in frustration Marnie held out a spoonful of cream and blackberry for an interested young shadow dragon to sniff. She'd never seen any spirit actually partake of food but they were always seemingly interested in the smells and the making of it.
The small black dragon sinuously wrapped around her arm, from the elbow to the wrist, it's body only really taking form when it came into contact with her skin. Slowly the spiky thing stretched forward a clinging step with it's tiny sharp claws and darted a forked tongue out towards the spoon. It may or may not have actually touched the cream, but it was impossible to tell, for at that moment Jonathan appeared with a shaded lantern to fetch her inside.
Looking up as the small dragon darted away, as the smaller ones were always both terminally shy and wary. Marnie smiled resignedly and started inside. She did have to both chart the rain storms currently over Drayce lands and practice those breathing moves Dragana was so fond of.
Though it might be different than being at home, one thing was for sure, it was still way better.

Astrayl couldn't help but smile as he watched Dragana take in the Algernon estate. She seemed to keep her usual calm expression, as expected of such a prideful person. Something not seen in a lot of people nowadays, especially those with high positions in society. Why it wasn't to long ago that Astrayl witnessed a high ranking noble of the black bear clan strip naked to bring laughter to someone of a even higher stature. No, Dragana seemed like the type of women that would do anything to keep up her pride and appearance, well to a point. 'She has eyes that say I will follow the path that I wish to walk. Funny how we are similar.' This made it easier for Astrayl, at least in his mind. He figured that sense they knew each other so well she wouldn't try to tie him down with formal duties. 'I am no one's circus bear,' was his thoughts.
After Astrayl introduced the living quarters, and a rather unexpected expression from his fiance, he waved his hand and Pei soon arrived from the shadows. "Prepare my fiance's living quarters. I want it kept out of sight from my mother but close enough so that if she become suspicious I can just run to Dragana's room." Pei nodded and disappeared in the shadows again. 'Oh and don't worry I will knock before I enter." With that he started to walk with her to the balcony. There, they had a view over the entire bear clan, one that stretched for miles on end. "Ms. Dragana Drayce, welcome to the Algernon clan." After he said those words fireworks lit off and blew up in the sky and the festival started.
