Why are these lights so bright

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey had dozed off while he was gone. No dreaming, just the in and out of consciousness that was associated with dozing off. She heard him come in, but didn't bother to get up at the moment. Yes, she was being lazy.
However, after maybe ten minutes, she sat up and grabbed the McDonald's bag to find a chicken club sandwich and some fries waiting on her. "Thanks, Tyler..." she said, giving him a small smile. She wondered, did married couples always call each other by their first names? It seemed odd now, thinking about it. Her parent's used nicknames or pet names for each other. She didn't know if she wanted that exactly.

"You're welcome, Mace." Tyler said with a smile, taking his burger out of the bag. "How'd you sleep?" he asked with a warm smile, sitting down at the table to eat.

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey gave him a smirk as she put some ketchup on the inside of the lid of her sandwich box. "Eh, it was more like dozing..to be honest..." She explained, dipping a fry into the ketchup. Since she didn't know what else to say at the moment, she ate in silence, occasionally glimpsing at the television, and then back to him.
Once she was done, Mace tossed her trash into the bag the food came in. She stood up and stretched, midriff barely showing, and she headed towards him, kissing him on the top of the head. She didn't know exactly why she did it, it just seemed right.

Tyler ate in silence, reading his magazine as he ate. He looked up when she kissed his head and he smiled. "I really do love you, you know that, right?" he said with a smile. He actually did, he realized. After all those years they'd spent together, not dating but as friends, he'd grown to realize he felt something for her.

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey smiled at him in return. "I guess now I know...It's just...odd how things changed so quickly..." she trailed off, ruffling his hair. It was true, but that didn't mean that she didn't like it. Now they just had to face all the obstacles they had created for themselves.
"Are you worried about how everyone will take this?" She asked, sitting down next to him. She kinda was. She was more worried about how his parents would take it, rather than hers. Plus his girlfriend, Brooke...that would be fun.

Tyler shrugged. Things hadn't really changed. Now they just would kiss and get a little closer than usual, that's all.
"I am, a little." he admitted. "I mean, we did get married so soon after...you know. I don't know how your parents will take it. My parents, eh, they'd probably be fine with it. They know you, know you're a good girl and all that."

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey nodded in agreement. "You know my parents might feel the same way...They know you're a good guy, Tyler...." She trailed off, stealing one of his fries. McDonald's french fries were good. Arby's curly fries were the best, but McDonalds was second.
"I'm sure things will work out soon..." She said before actually eating the fry. "Hurry up and eat so we can cuddle like you wanted...my feet are getting cold again..." She said with a smirk, resting her head on his shoulder.

Tyler chuckled. "I know they know that, but still...I dunno." he said. He smiled when she mentioned cuddling. "Ha, alright." he said, finishing up his food and throwing away the garbage. He went over to the couch and smiled.

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey raised an eyebrow at Tyler. why would he go over to the couch when there was a perfectly good bed to cuddle on? She shrugged and got up, plopping down on the couch beside him.
"I guess we'll just have to wait til later tomorrow...After we get back home." She stated.That was when they'd have to tell their parents, and his girlfriend. She honestly wasn't too worried about the parents part. She was certain Brooke would take it the worst, in some way shape or form.

Ty turned the TV on with a quiet volume, holding Macey close and smiling. "Yeah, I guess." he said, rubbing her stomach gently and smiling at her, rubbing his nose against hers.

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey laughed a little as he rubbed his nose against hers. Not because she found it funny, but because she thought it was cute. She yawned a little before kissing him on the cheek and resting her head against him.
It wasn't long before she closed her eyes in the attempt to get more sleep. "Should I go lay down on the bed?" She asked curiously, wondering if he'd be up to carrying her there if she fell asleep or not..

Tyler was dozing off a little himself. It just felt too nice to be cuddled up like this, together. He felt so secure. "Let's both go." Ty said softly. "I'm a little tired myself." he added truthfully. He smiled warmly at her. "Want me to carry you?" he asked.

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey ended up shaking her head and giving Tyler a kiss on the cheek before getting herself up off the couch and heading into the motel's bed. She plugged her ipod and phone up into their respective chargers, and went to sleep.

The trip back didn't take too terribly long. Rather, it didn't feel like it took too long. Mace had listened to her ipod while it was connected to the radio the whole way back. Occasionally she let Tyler skim through her collection and pick a song. But, for the most part it was loud, fast, and upbeat music. Something that could keep you awake no matter what.
When they got back to their hometown in Oregon, Mace headed for her parent's house first. That was where she was staying while her school was on break anyways, and they needed to break the news to Francis and Mae Blaire.

The ride up was just as uneventful for Ty, who spent most of it driving them back up. Still, at least he spent it with Macey, and they got to talk a bit, which was nice. Eventually they reached Oregon, and he dropped her off at her house. "Want me to go in and break the news now, or should we wait a bit?" he asked, suddenly extremely nervous.

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey shrugged. "I don't know...They'd probably want to see you before you went home anyways..." She stated, exiting the vehicle. Mace went to the trunk and got her suitcase out of it. Inside she was a ball of nerves. Stomach was knotted, the whole nine yards. She honestly was freaked out about telling her parents.
Mentally she knew they'd come to terms, but having to tell them, that was what made her so nervous. She didn't know how to do that. Mace bit her lip and lugged her bag and purse up to the door, not knocking. "Mom, Dad...I'm home..."
