What is the difference between a TEAM, a COURT, and a FACTION?

Can I use these words interchangeably when I am naming a senshi group?

Nessy: They are not really interchangeable. Team and Court may be interchangeable to an point but when we speak officially these are the definitions:

A team is usually a smaller group of senshi with either a single established leader or a group of leaders. There is no royal present. An example of this is Team Pleaides who has a singular leader but they are not quite a court, having no royal head.

A court is one step up from a team and usually has a royal at its head. The word 'court' may be used to also describe very large teams with more than a few members such as the Blood Moon Court or the Zodiac court.

A faction is what we use to encompass our sides. The Negaverse is a faction, the Senshi are a faction, and the Knights are a faction. Factions can be made up of teams and courts but are designed to encompass large amounts of people under a single heading. Right now these three are the only official factions.

Mouse: Some more thoughts on differentiation between 'teams' and 'courts:'

I like to think of teams as groups who are working together based on association -- friendship, shared past relationships, and so on. On the other hand, a court is established with a goal or purpose of some sort behind it (in the case of the Zodiac Court their role was established in the past). So, your senshi might want to be part of a certain team because they like working with each other or have a past life connection that makes them drawn to one another, but they would want to be part of a certain court because it's built on ideas that they agree with.

Energy sensing again: is there a distance limit on sensing powered energy? How far away could someone (a cat?) be and still pick something up?

I'm not so interested in pin-pointing or tracking an individual energy signature (I assume you'd need to be pretty close for that), but more just whether it's possible to pick up general changes to energy levels at a distance - eg. 'light-side energy flare somewhere that way, I'm heading the right way!' or 'There's Senshi in that-there city!' Can energy-sensing work like that?

Mouse: Non-corrupt Guardian cats have a more refined capacity to detect senshi, since they need to be able to do so in order to awaken and upgrade them!

For powered characters in general though, the energy sense is a sense in the truest sense of the word -- not a built-in radar. Think of how in the real world, you can detect a sound or smell in an area but not be able to know what's producing it until you actually see the ringing cell-phone or fresh-baked pie. In the same way, a powered character can feel a light or dark presence and the general direction it's coming from.

Higher-level characters produce stronger energy signatures and can be detected from a greater distance. The detection radius for a character at stage 1 probably isn't much more than half a block to a block, but a character at stage 3 might be sensed half a mile away or more. If you're a Princess, General-King or Templar, everyone within a few miles of you is going to know you're around!

So in short, you're pretty much correct for how energy sensing works! All powered characters have an equal capacity to detect energy, and your own aura becomes more detectable as you level up.

sorry if this question has already been asked.
How often will Customs be done? Will it be once a month?

Nessy: Customs really have no set frequency. We aim to have at least one or two openings a month depending on how much work our colorists have currently on their plates and whatever else we're doing that month like a huge contest or raffle. We're striving to have monthly chances to obtain a character in several ways.

Couple guardian cat questions have popped in my mind.

How big is guardian cat's half-breed's form's energy signature? We all know it's big but how big exactly? Is it even bigger than princess' stage's energy signature?

Nessy: It is roughly as large as a fourth stage character's signature because they are that important. It will never be larger but it is definitely easier to feel than an eternal/general.

How does a guardian cat know their headquarters' location if they would not have been there before? Do they need someone to guide them there or is there a way for them being able to get there by themselves? I.e. the location is saved in their cell phones or something?

Nessy: This is pretty much entirely up to you, though we would prefer the location not be written down or saved in a phone for perusal by anyone other than a guardian cat. You can wander by it and it feels odd, some other cat can mention not seeing you at HQ and you can wander that way with them, pretty much anything you'd like, it's not a specific thing.

I apologize if this has been asked before, kinda new to the cats thing XD;

Quote:
  • With the aid from two or more guardian cats you may dampen a field of energy so that many senshi may gather in relative safety. This is traditionally only done with the aid of Astraea but could potentially be managed in small areas with enough cooperation.

  • Does this only apply to normal cats, or is it an ability corrupt cats have as well? If so, does this dampening only apply to Senshi energy-signatures, or could it potentially dampen that of Negaverse agents as well?

Nessy: This can realistically work for any type of cat however it's not always 100% when Astraea isn't at the wheel. This is mostly a metagaming protection and if you have a plot where this is absolutely necessary please just send a proposal to the mule and we'll be happy to work with you.

    So more kitty stuff!

For a corrupted cat is it safe to assume they woke up as good cats and were corrupted by someone in the negaverse at some point? Or could some have woken up corrupted?

Nessy: Because corruption is something done deliberately all cats that are now corrupt would have been good at one point and then corrupted at some point because they are a cat.

If the first are we allowed to rp this corruption occuring in their first rp? And are they much like senshi who lose most of their memories when it occurs?

Nessy: You can RP this happening in their first RP and if they know sensitive information like senshi identities and such they would lose all memories of those things. All cats know their duty instinctively and never forget it even if corrupted or purified so while they might lose most of their memories about senshi things they would still know who/what they are so on and so forth.

Out of curiosity, can there be a Page/Knight of the Moon? Only wondering because there's no set theme/outfit for the moon.

Nessy: Because the Moon already had almost a dozen protectors in the form of senshi and their ambassador was the Princess herself, no, there was no need for Knights of the Moon.

So basically we will not have them in the future. The closest you can get are Earth Knights, sorry!

    Probably the wrong qna but...

Negaverse officers. If they have a weapon like Sassolite's bow and arrow for example. And they dehenshin but leave part of that weapon (aka Sass's arrow) in a character, would that part of the weapon disappear too or would it now stay stuck in the person that it ended up in?

Nessy: It would stay stuck until the person pulled it out. Detransforming does not negate physical wounds or physical arrows.

So, this is a question about Knight travels!

Say you have a still-existant wonder, like... Verona. Say you had Verona Knight, and they wanted to go to commune with their ancestor. So, would Verona Knight go to modern-day Verona? Or would he or she jump back to Verona circa the Silver Millennium? And would city-landmarks like Verona be populated? Like, if she went to modern-day Verona, would she be able to interact with tourists, or would it be like meta-Verona where she and her ancestor are IT?

Nessy: They would go to a place (city, town, mystical lake with a lady in the middle of it) named Verona on the planet that they serve. The Knights all originate from generally the same place and then when they are trained they are sent to their respective posts and named for their post. For example Valhalla is only spoken in myth on Earth but was in reality a place on Jupiter that Valhalla Knight protected and served.

So when they go there it is deserted and they would only meet their ancestor.

Even if it's a Knight of Earth going to a place that still exists on Earth, again, IE Verona/Paris/Venice/Hadrian's Wall/the Great Wall of China?

If someone is a Negaverse agent and in civilian form, do youma still want their energy or would they be able to tell and pass over them?

Nessy: There is no way to tell one civilian from another even for intelligent individuals so it would be impossible for a youma to do so. Added on that sometimes youma don't even respect and would attack a Negaverse agent in their powered form, it's a decided no.

How many years ago was Sailor Nova awakened? And how soon after her did senshi begin to awaken en masse?

Nessy: We're lucky that the shop started with a realistic timeline. Nova was awoken somewhere around her thirteenth birthday, which at this point was 2006. However, senshi didn't start waking up en masse until 2009, when s**t really started hitting the fan.

I think that the Zodiac senshi were awake somewhere in 2008 perhaps, because they had time to be killed and arrive at the Cauldron to be reincarnated, but that is only applicable for them. When senshi arrived in the shop = when senshi started awakening en masse.

    Handy, no?

Is it okay for a player of a descendant knight to say that their ancestor was x rank while the actual player character hasn't yet earned this rank at all ? IE Present day Hesperis is a page, can she go to her wonder and meet her ancestor, who actually would be a third stage knight ?

I know for senshi what I heard is that you can't have visions of a stage you haven't icly earned, but for descendant knights im a little unsure.

Nessy: The short answer is yes, that is alright.

Here is why this is alright for knights but not senshi: knights choose their ancestry. You are either reincarnated or you are communing with an ancestor whose blood flows through your veins but you are not otherwise related to. They could have been anything, done anything, and you may even hate them. So for them to have been a fully-fledged knight has no bearing on you or what you will ultimately end up as.

Reincarnated knights operate just like a senshi and are forced to rely on memories of their past life. Because not all characters will go to Templar stage or Knight stage (because of whatever reason), characters who choose the reincarnation will only have memories of them as a page.

Are we still to use the Character Revision thread for Character revisions or are we to place those somewhere else now? I noticed there was a post on June the 18th in that thread that hadn't been marked off or anything so I was wondering if there was a new procedure or how that is now handled under new staff?

Nessy: While it sometimes gets accidentally passed-over, we do still use that thread for character revisions.

For senshi attacks, can they only use a super or a regular attack? Say Sailor Grus was at her super stage, and was in a fight. Her use limit on both her super and sailor attacks is 2. Her options are:

    Use Super attack twice
    Use Regular twice
    Use one of each

    Right?

Like she can't use her super attack twice, and then use a regular attack in the same battle for a total of three attacks?

    I'm sorry if this is poorly worded, I'm having a hard time wording it correctly to make perfect sense ^^;

Nessy: That's pretty accurate. She could perhaps use her super attack once and her regular twice since a regular is less powerful than a super, but it would be fairly tiring. It's really mostly about balance. If you think that you're going to overpower someone in an RP, just shoot them a PM and ask them if they are okay with you using this attack more than once or tackling them, etc. Most of our players are very accommodating as long as you give them a heads-up!

I noticed for most large mets (student run or otherwise) the 'Big Yoma" normally die... is that a rule or in this universe do they sometimes get away/get driven away without dying?

Nessy: Most large 'boss' youma are designed for the purpose of dying and are usually only allowed out with GM approval. There is usually nothing saying that they have to die, that's just usually part of the arrangement for using so much power.

However youma that are not boss youma and are simply powerful ones used for the sake of fulfilling battle requirements do not have to die at the end of an RP. They can get away or the senshi can be scared off.

If you have a boss youma that you would like to use but have it not die, please include that in any plot submission that you send to the mule.
