"Hm...I just wonder how long my luck's gonna last..." Van said softly as he folded his hands and rested his chin against them. "Have the rumors hit town yet?" he asked, wondering if she'd heard about the gods' little problem yet.

"I've heard many interesting rumors, although I'm not sure which you might mean. Can you elaborate?" Mala asked, not positive about whether or not he meant the rumors regarding the fall of the gods.

"I have heard about that. I would think that Atius deserves it, though, but that is simply me holding a grudge to be honest." Mala said, a neutral expression on her face. "What shall you do? I do hope that you'll defend your position, especially since it wouldn't do to let some foolish b*****d or someone like Jaquel replace you." Certainly, Mala wouldn't dare try to usurp Van. Unlike the other gods, she had actually grown to like him and had yet to be betrayed.

Ceri was not the religious type, but her knuckles got white around the handle of her knife as she chopped up some of the pork leg. She sighed, and set down the knife calmly. She turned around to get some parsley-that's when she saw the torches. "I'm sorry to be the rain on your little immortality parade, Mala," she said, backing up, "but I do believe there is an angry lynching mob outside in my front yard..."

"First I'm going to find out what the hell's going on." Van said running a hand through his hair. "All I know is that lately I've been losing my power without a clue as to why. That's why our plan was to head to Mt. Eclipse, have a little chat with anyone still up there without running the risk of getting stuck. Then I plan on finding a way to fix this little problem before anything else happens."

What made her smile fade was the ill news that Ceri had brought. "Oh damn..." she muttered. "We either need to fight our way out or try to sneak away without being noticed. Since I don't fancy going against a small army of pissed off mages, I suggest the seccond."

Ceri quickly retrieved a sword from her wall. "everyone, in the cellar," she said quietly. "Behind the canning wall there is a doorway, follow it. It will lead to my shed, and you can get out there...I'll take care of the mob." She slung the scabbard over her shoulder and walked to the front door. "Hurry!"
