The greatest pleasures, are often followed by the greatest pain.

Kevin walked into the cabin, it was pretty clean, worthy of about a 7 or 8. There weren't a whole lot of Ares campers, and they threw all their dirty clothes in the same pile, so they all got washed at once, and it was easy to do. As he walked towards the door, he looked down at the ground. The weeds and the few dandelions around the cabin were plentiful, however, in the midst of all of them, a single flower was visible.

Kevin leaned over and grabbed it by the stem. He pulled until the roots under the dirt gave way, and it came out of the ground. He looked at it closely. It was familiar, he remembered it. When he was learning a martial arts technique in China, the monk who taught him used to have these flowers sprout up unexpectedly. They were beautiful, and he remembered what the monk had said about them. "They are glorious, a visual prize indeed. When ones mind is going through a turbulent time, simply spin it, like this, and it will help calm your mind as it spins. The wind will take it, sometimes, if you follow them, they can spin for miles and miles. However, should you drop it while spinning it, or have it spin in a way that is not as pristine and lovely as the flower itself is, you will find only pain and sorrow ahead." He remembered him say. He heard the voice of the monk echo through his head, as it faded from his mind. He held the lotus flower in between his two palms. Slowly, at first, then speeding into a very quick motion, he shifted his left palm forward, and his right palm backward, causing the lotus to spin gracefully, arching up over the cabin, and gliding peacefully over to the woods, spinning gracefully the entire time. It left Kevin's sight and he entered the cabin, and walked over to his dresser, finding some dry clothes.

After a 20 minute or so shower, he was feeling better, and got into his dry, clean clothes. He placed his sword on the rack on the wall above his bed. He lied down and closed his eyes, he hadn't slept in almost two days. The first day, he didn't know why, but the 2nd day, he knew exactly why. He tried to fall asleep again, and after about 10 minutes or so of lying awake, with closed eyes, he drifted to sleep.

He didn't notice it, but the white glow in the skulls eyes grew slightly brighter, and the orange red aura around it, became stronger, becoming a dark orange, but becoming the tiniest bit brighter as his sleep continued.

The greatest pleasures, are often followed by the greatest pain.

As Kevin slept, his mind calmed down. He began to dream for short periods of time. They weren't very vivid, and lasted a period of only a minute or so, in dream time. Then, as his sleep continued, he began to dream about other things. About the current situation at hand, about his friendship with Gabe being utterly crushed. About the war with Kronos. Then finally, the one he remembered most of all. He and Lyra were sitting down on a bench. They each leaned in, towards one another, but before it finished, he was awoken by a slight humming sound. He sat up slowly, blinking once or twice, and rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He looked around to find it, but couldn't.

After about 5 minutes of looking around, he looked down to his sword. The skull was almost completely white, the glow from it's eyes spreading light across the entire thing. The red aura was now tinted with pink, and yellow, and orange. It was no longer a slight detail, but a prevailing quality of the sword. After about 7 seconds, the aura smothered the skull completely, then turned black. It turned black, and retracted back to nothing. It was gone from sight, and the humming stopped. Kevin frowned slightly at this. However, after about 3 seconds, the white glow shone outwards, from the eyes, and mouth, and the skull began to crack in some places it seemed, and in about 3 more seconds, the skull inverted, and the light orange-reddish-pinkish-yellowish glow, engulfed it completely. The humming grew louder, and the skull appeared in the fiery colored ball of light floating on the sword. The skull was still black, but slowly, it began to turn. The ball was extremely thin, thinner than the skull even. The skull was facing forward, instead of its original position facing outward. It had done a 90 degree turn, which didn't even seem possible considering the size of the light, but then it slowly finished rotating, so it was facing to the opposite side of the position it had started in. On the back of it wasn't just what the back of the skull had looked like previously, but a hand. A hand that was open fisted, so the palm was showing, the way it is when you wave to somebody. Then the humming stopped, and Kevin walked over to the sword and picked it up. The inscriptions were glowing a lighter color as well, and soon had changed color as well.

It's...it's beautiful. It just...it just changed? Was it supposed to this? It wasn't like this before, when I was feeling like crap...does it change with my mood? He thought to himself as he examined it, before setting it back on the rack. He contemplated leaving it, but was afraid something could happen, and he couldn't picture anything more awful than that happening to him. To make sure nothing would happen, he experimented with it quickly. Beckoning another Ares camper over to him, he asked him to try and grab the hilt of the sword. It was repelled like two magnets when one tried to touch two north or south poles to eachother, only stronger, and as hard as the kid tried, he could not come into contact with the hilt. Then Kevin went to grab it, and it was as if it had completely disappeared. He grabbed the hilt as he had before, without any trouble whatsoever. He grinned. Then turned to leave the cabin, all worry gone. This of all weapons he had ever used, was his sword. It wasn't going anywhere. He smiled and walked out of the cabin, closing the door behind him quietly as he left.

Kevin walked into the cabin, and put the sword back on the rack. He flopped onto his bed face down and groaned, muffling it in the blankets of his bed. He rolled over, rubbing his hands over his face. Starting at the top of his head and running them through his hair, then forward over his face, touching his palms to one another under his chin. A tear rolled down his face on either side. He didn't know what to do, it seemed like a hopeless cause. He sighed, as the blood red sword, turned into a cold silver color, and the skull turned to a dark blue, with a small light blue ring floating around it. It appeared to change with his mood, it was definitely his.

He looked around, hoping to see Lyra there, somebody there, to help him out. He wished the walls could speak, so that something at least, would be able to help him. Gabe had Adonia, and Kevin had nobody. He had Lyra, but she probably wouldn't want to see him after what he did. He wished she was there, because he didn't know what to do, and he knew it wasn't going to get any better any time soon, unless something drastic happened.

Ares appeared, sitting down next to his son. He had just finished an arm wrestle with Kratos, but refused to admit he lost. 'A tie,' as he put it. Ares held up his huge fist, twice the size of a normal humans. "Way to get that babe, son! Now, I know you're an Ares kid."

Kevin sighed. Ares was such an idiot sometimes. "Gee, thanks." He said, closing his eyes. "Look...this is a bad time. Can't you like..leave and come back later? Please?" He asked, not wanted to deal with Ares right now. He wanted nothing more than for Ares to just go away for the day. He could come back tomorrow and stay all day, but now was a really bad time.

((Make him leave please. I don't feel like RPing with Ares right now. It would require the mood to change completely, which isn't gonna happen.))

Ares rolled his flaming eyes. "Girl trouble. I see." He got up, grinning, and began to glow as he prepared to leave.

Kevin sighed. Thank you...thank you so much. He thought to himself, as he rolled over. He didn't want to deal with Ares right now, and it made him a lot happier now that he knew he wouldn't have to.

I am in the armory!

After a few minutes of thinking in the armory, her eyes wet with tears, she had decided to do something. Even in a love puzzle, she was a demi-goddess. She was unable to just stand in the armory for so long without doing something. Finishing her ember sorting, and dumping the not useful ones into a small fire to burn off the last pieces, and then dumped the good embers near the strong fire. It would have probably burned the tip of her fingers, if she hadn’t been a daughter of Hephaestus. She sighed, hating being a demi-goddess. She felt like a mortal. How Lyra wanted out of camp, to take a breath or something. Though Chiron wasn’t allowing any campers out of camp, and Mr. D didn’t really like her. So she was stuck at camp, stuck with her own problems. Now she was feeling like her father, running away from her problems.

She dumped the wheelbarrow near the door of the armory, where she had found it. She wanted to keep her armory clean, at least. Like her father, she told herself. She rolled her dark brown eyes, she hated her similarities to her father. Somehow, she didn’t want to think about her father at that time. After the armory seemed to be in a good shape, she crossed her arms, pushed her back to the door of the armory, and stepped outside. There, a slight breeze ran through camp. That made her sick, wanting to puke. She breathed out, controlling herself. She needed to just forget him, she needed to talk to Kevin. She took off her rubber boot, and replaced it with a brown converse. The other leg didn’t have any shoes, of course. Lyra rubbed her eyes, and looked up. Midday, was it, and the sun warmed her up.

Walking through camp was tedious and long. The constant click was coming from her leg brace, and pain seared through her leg as she walked. Unable to really dig her hands into her pockets, she waved her hands back and forth as she walked, like a small child. Much of her childhood had been damaged by her parents and her sister. Doing small things like this made her troubles disappear. Bringing her back to the past she could have lived, if she hadn’t been a demi-goddess. Her mind drifted off. You’re problems drifted away when you kissed him. it reminded her. She was unsure of her opinion, but it told her that she was showing some favoritism for Kevin. Was it because he was stronger? Or was it because he stood up for her in the armory? She smiled inside, but her expression was neutral.

Yes, the horrifying thoughts of the armory had still entered her mind. Boreas had practically screamed at her, but she had turned on her father’s emotionless attitude and stood straight. She wasn’t sure how she had become so strong, how she was able to get so cold. Was it because with every year, every experience, she would become more like her father. Unless you put in the piece about her cheating on Gabe. Or had she really been dating him? She hadn’t even gone on the date with him, yet. But somehow, she still felt that pit of guilt into her stomach. After the carnage, she had picked up the ice crystal. She knew she could have thrown into the flame, but she hadn’t. Now, it hung across her neck, like a pendent, next to Maverick’s gift. She didn’t want to ruin such a glorious present. She wouldn’t throw off such a wonderful present. And anyways, it would remind her of her faults.

Arriving at the Ares cabin, she knocked on the door. Was she coming for reassurance? Or was she coming for another kiss? It was something to lust over. She looked at the window, just to see her reflection, where she undid her ponytail and allowed it to fall wherever it pleased. She rubbed her hands with cream, and even put on some lip chap. With a sigh she looked at herself, figuring she looked even more lame with the 'make-up'. She wasn't even sure why she was dressing herself up, it was just Kevin. Or was it more? She looked around, waiting for someone to open the door. Soon her A.D.H.D got to her, and she just opened the door, where she took a soft step. "Kev? You here?" she asked the cabin.

"Sing, clear-voiced Mousa, of Hephaistos famed for inventions (klytometis). With bright-eyed Athene he taught men glorious crafts throughout the world,--men who before used to dwell caves in the mountains like wild beasts. But now that they have learned crafts through Hephaistos the famed worker (klytotekhnes), easily they live a peaceful life in their own houses the whole year round. Be gracious, Hephaistos, and grant me success and prosperity!

Kevin looked up and smiled. "Yea. I...I'm here." He said softly, his voice scratchy. Why'd you come back? I just like...ruined your life back there." He said, feeling guilty about it even as she came into the cabin. He had no idea why she wanted to see him, or be near him after what had happened. But he didn't make any serious note of it, because he was happier now that she was here. It felt like the problem was split between them now that she was in the cabin with him. It felt much more manageable.

He sat up, and looked at her. The gem on his sword turned a shade of purple that was closer to blue, but it lightened a little. "Lyra...I... He began, but stopped. A tear ran down his face. He swallowed. "I...I'm sorry. I don't know what else to say, except that I'm sorry, and that I messed up." He said, lying back down and staring at the ceiling. "I don't know what to do. What can I do? It doesn't seem like there's any real way to fix this." He said, feeling more and more hopeless as the day dragged on.

"Gabe...he...he hates me now..." He told Lyra. "You know, you can sit somewhere if you want, you don't have to stand." He told her, smiling a bit, though on the inside, it felt like he was going to throw up.

((My 3rd one is short but it looked longer because of all the color code....))
