[ we are glad to have you, welcome! ]

Cyn’gus walked with his aunt to the side of Alantha resting near the main fire. As he watched the high priestess complete the healing spell over the injured maiden, and the recitation of the Dark Maiden’s message, a heavy weight lifted off of his shoulders. His prayers had been answered. He stepped back to allow the two females to converse and took in the going on’s around the camp.

Off to one corner of the camp, near a tall tree, he observed his wife attending to the aid of an elderly traveler who had just wandered in from the road. Near the provision’s tent, he saw Silence approach a dark figure coming from the direction of the cave. He refocused his vision to try and determine if that particular presence was friend or foe. When Silence looked over her shoulder and called to Cyn’gus, he hurried over to their position.

At about halfway, Silence had already turned around and was walking back to one of the outlining fires. She had a coy smile on her face that she shared with him as she passed. He could only wonder what mischief she was getting into. He tried to put the thought out of his head as he made his way to what he was now able to make out as a well dressed drow male holding a newly issued blanket and bowl of hearty soup.

”Good evening friend…”, Cyn’gus began as he approached. He immediately noticed the Holy Symbol of Eilistraee on the visitor’s cloak. He felt a shrill of elation at the sight and offered a warm smile with his words following, ”…I see you have found us. Welcome to the World Above brother, I am Cyn'gus. Will you honour us with your presence near the fire? We are gathered tonite to provide food and shealter to all who come. With the Dark Maiden's blessings you are welcome.”

Alantha eyes go dark and she move close to Silence. "Don't tell anyone...I don't need more people worrying about me." She sighs deeply as she rubs the back of her head. "I'm sorry, but this was the last thing I needed to find out at the last moment...and now that I am on my own, things will only be harder."

Silence and Sorrow

Silence reached over and placed a hand on Alantha's shoulder. "Don't worry too much. My human died and now I'm alone with a half-elven child growing." She gives a smile. "The people here will help you out though if you need it.... Unless you get cravings and Cyn'gus is hungry. Like I said, don't worry. It'll be just fine and I'm kind of excited about not being the only pregnant one here."

Alantha laughs softly and nods. "I guess I got nothing to worry about, I already went through it twice so I know what to expect, never did have cravings for anything, but I did have a short fuse..." That makes her laugh a bit. "The first time, I got so angry at my husband I aimed a fireball at him, he got out of the way, but I burned his clothes off."

Silence laughed at the memory Alantha told. "I never was good at elemental magick, my human was though." She rubbed her belly. "He's been gone almost since the beginning of this and it's upsetting to me.... I worked in a kitchen right after he left me and that was how I found out about the pie thief." She smirked and tilted her head at Cyn'gus. "I made a mint chocolate chicken pie and he stole it. Didn't even react well when he found out what was mixed in.."

"Nice..I do have to be careful since I am a mage, I tend to use my magic randomly on people." Alantha looks down a bit and shakes her head a bit. "My first son was like my husband, he was a fighter, my second..well he didn't use magic and he couldn't use a sword if his life depended on it, but I loved them both..." She sighs softly as she runs her hand over her stomach. "We were hoping for a girl this time."

Silence smiled at the other girl. "I don't really care what my little one is. I just want to have a healthy child.... I wouldn't mind it having the father's ears though." She laughed and looked fondly at the expanse of her belly. "I wouldn't mind that at all..."

"Right, that's all that really matters is that they're healthy and happy...I'm still hoping for a girl though." Alantha laughs softly and looks at Silence. "How far along are you anyways?"

Draer gave Silence a wide smile of thanks as she turned away. If she was any example of the people here in the camp, he was sure he would enjoy his stay very much. Not since the Priestess he had known in years past had he known kindness, something that was unheard of in the depths of Undergaia. At the mention of dice, Draer had to debate with himself for a moment. He had never been a huge gambler, not really understanding the draw that loosing ones money seemed to have on people, but he figured he could probably make an exception to celebrate finally meeting people of his own ilk.
As Silence called to the man, (a follower of Eilistraee?!) he could barely contain his excitement once more.

"Good evening to you as well," Draer said in return to the man's greeting. "I would be the honored one to join all of you. It has been a long time since I have had the opportunity to speak to anyone other then the followers of Lolth that live in the city I am from. It over-joys me to be able to speak to another follower of the Dark Maiden."

Draer paused for just a moment to glance up at the moon again. A look of divine reverence passed over him, and for a moment he could not continue. Finally, the words came back to him, and he looked back to Cyn'gus.

"It is an honest pleasure to meet you, Cyn'gus. I am Draer Er'shydrae. I come from the Starless Sea, a place where Lolth reigns. A place I am very glad to be gone from for the first time in my life."

"I think I am in the sixth or seventh turning of the moon now. I lost track after my human was no longer with me." Silence frowned at her belly. "He would have loved this little one. It is our first and we were joking about whether it would look more like a human or elf..." She shrugged. "Oh well..." With a sigh she moved over to the fire and sat down before stirring the stew.

Alantha nods slowly and lets Silence return to the food on the fire. Alantha turns to the new comer that was talking to Cyn'gus at the moment. She smiles slowly and shakes her head a bit, walking up to the young man. "Well it's always good to met others that follow Eilistraee, I am Alantha, it's nice to see a new face in camp." She turns to her good friend and smiles. "I'll be more then happy to show our new friend around, even if there's not much to see around here....other then trees."

Zee smiled at the news, and helped the young woman up as she went to go speak to another new visitor. She was happy to see the maiden adjusting to her new environment. Those who had spent their whole lives in the UnderGaia usually felt some discomfort during their first evenings in the World Above. There was the sense of vulenerability that came from being out of a familiar element, the vast expanse of the sky and the ever present noises that teemed from the nearby forrest. All these things were strangely alien to a place that was dark, quiet and enclosed. That was the UnderGaia. Here, in the Realms that see the Sun, she felt that Alantha had a very good opportunity of making a new life for herself and her new family with the aid of the gathered followers of the Dark Maiden.

Blinking away her thoughts, she noticed that her nephew's wife had gone to the road's edge to greet yet another newcomer to the Outpost. She gently strood over, staff in hand and a smile in greeting. "Hello there dear," Zee said to Annoi, resting one arm on her shoulder, "Who do we have here?"

A bit overwhelmed by such a welcoming meeting, so many people welcoming him to the camp, Draer could not help but let his guard down completely. This sort of welcoming was something he simply wasn't used to. Kindness from others? That was just not something that existed in Undergaia. He was among followers of the Dark Maiden now, and he smiled a little to himself before speaking.

"It's very nice to meet all of you," Draer said. "As I was just telling Master Cyn'gus, I am Draer Er'shydrae of the Starless Sea. Or formerly of the Starless Sea, I should say. I thank you all for your warm reception. I'm not used to such kindness, as I'm sure any who have traveled through Undergaia know."

Draer paused for a moment, glancing up at the sky once more. The moon continued to draw his attention. "Isn't the moon just... Incredible," he said more to himself then anyone else, though loud enough for all around him to here.

Alantha walks up to Draer and lightly puts her hand on his shoulder. "You'll get used to it after awhile, trust me.." She turns her gaze up to the sky and sighs softly. "It is rather lovely, as if Eilistraee is watching us as we speak."
