Oh lord, the noise. It was practically a physical force that battered Switch's eardrums; Hayes winced and looked at his watch. The sooner this got wound up, the better; while he had an alternate way home, the vans were less conspicuous.

"Let's finish it up," he recommended, barely hearing the sound of his own voice. Whether his Pokemon heard him or not didn't make much difference; Switch had one goal now and it was to get that woman and her bell-brat to shut. Up.

"P'ka!" he snapped, blasting another Discharge into the air.

That seemed to do the trick. The Chingling cried out in pain and rolled over on its side, its eyes swirling.

"Oh dear, my poor little Chingling!" The beauty wailed in horror and disbelief.

Darnit, the Raichu was back on its feet again. He had to let Seance take another electrical hit, so he'd be able to snatch up a Pokeball (not the Raichu's, it'd be hard to take that without him noticing) on the ground. And a taser, cause it was nearby and it'd be cool to have one.

"Sorry about that!" Leonard said, not actually meaning it. "It looks like Seance is going beserk and stuff. I better recall her before she attacks you any more, and let's call this fight a draw, kay?"

He wrinkled his nose a bit when he saw what his Shuppet looked like now. She was floating barely a feet above the ground, and the dark cloth that made up her body was burnt even blacker by the electricity. She was in a sorry state... And he'll have to make it up with her, or she'll not listen to him ever again.

Shoving his prizes into his pocket with one hand and returning Seance with the other, Leonard didn't wait for the trainer to respond. He just ran as fast as he could, without stopping in case the unfortunate victim just realized what happened.

"Agh... whatever man! Ya need to train your pokemon better. Seriously!" He kept rubbing at his eyes, his vision still recovering from the confuse ray.

His trainer may not have yet noticed what happened, but the Raichu wasn't blind. "RAI!" Hey! He was makin of with his trainer's crap!

"CHUU!" The Raichu fired off another thunderbolt, this time at Leonard.

As the abominable ringing stopped, Switch sat down and began to wash his paws off. "Chuuu."

"Good match." Sidestepping the downed Chingling, Hayes approached the beauty with a friendly smile and an offered handshake.

"Hmph." Was the Beauty's reply, looking quite indignant that she had lost. After all, if he had been a real gentlemen, then he would have let her win! The nerve.

Recalling the Chingling back to its Pokeball, she reluctantly decided to shake his hand, despite he and his Pikachu being jerks.

There was absolutely nothing fishy about the handshake - it was firm and straightforward. As Hayes looked her right in the eyes and grinned mildly, there was a quiet 'click.' Red light beamed out from his second Pokeball and materialized into a Pidgeot.

"Pidgeooooot!"

That would be the signal. In his usual show of bravado, the Pidgeot shrieked and beat his wings, whipping up a whirlwind of dust and dry leaves from the gutters that obscured the scene and the little yellow dart streaking forward to grab the beauty's Pokeball (and deliver a light shock in the process.)

What the... While there was nothing suspicious about the handshake, the sudden release of the Pidgeot was!

The blonde shrieked and covered her head with her arms as the Pidgeot whipped up the whirlwind, the Pokeball still in her hand.

When the 'chu lept for the ball, he snatched it and the shock caused the woman to scream. She stumbled backwards, her hair an utter mess now and her mouth hanging open in shock. "Why you.. you... JERK!"

"Just a little." Hayes didn't sound the least bit abashed and just adjusted his glasses. "But I ought to get going. You weren't really my type anyway." Darwin lowered his wings long enough for his trainer to climb on and once again set a heavy wind swirling as he lifted off, heading for a wooded area to set down in.

Meanwhile, Switch had disappeared into the roadside bushes. No way was he taking the same route. He'd meet up with Hayes at the checkpoint.

Her jaw dropped at that. Not his type?! She was being rejected too?!

"You! YOU!" She started to run after him, shaking her fist and yelling colorful metaphors at Hayes, seemingly more insulted about being rejected that losing her Pokemon.

Even with a rider, a Pidgeot could easily outdistance a runner in heels. Still Darwin was sure to land a distance away from the vans, and ruffled his feathers back into position before he was recalled and Hayes set off on foot.

Meanwhile, Switch zigged and zagged over the grass, finally coming to a stop in the group of Rockets gathered around the vans. "P'kf." He spit the ball out at Seth's feet.

When Sierra and her overgrown turkey returned looking a bit electrified, Seth had little trouble believing what was in the Pokeball.

"Very well. Do you intend to keep this Pichu?" he asked in a flat tone while jotting the information down.

Keep it? Right now she wanted to kick the little rat pest... However, emotional immediately reaction aside...she had to admit, the little rat had some kick of its own, considering. If she could tame the darn thing, that sort of power could come in handy.

So after a moment, Sierra nodded. "Yes, sir. I'll keep it if I may." She pocketed the Pokeball, thoughts on how she was going to tame the wild thing, and gave Seth a half-bow in farewell before wandering back to her healing Pidgeot. Celeste looked better, though not quite full health at least, already. Sierra took a seat by her, the Pidgeot cooing and nudging her feathered head against hers as they waited for the rest to return.

Seth looked down at the 'chu and the Pokeball it deposited at his feet. Bending down, Seth picked it up and shot a glance in Hayes direction as he dismounted from his Pidgeot.

"What do we have here?"

"No sir, mission failed." Panther didn't look at him, hoping he woud just leave it at that. Even with his age, he was just a rookie, and today proved it.

Seth grunted in annoyance at this. But at least he wasn't trying to give excuses right off the bat like Suchi had been.

"Care to explain?" he asked gruffly.

"Chingling, sir," Hayes spoke up, snapping off a quick two-fingered salute. As he dusted off his overshirt, he paused and wrinkled his nose.

Of course a girl like that would be wearing perfume, or body spray, or scented hairgel, or.. what the heck was this stuff? Probably called Coconut Ocean Mist Passion Secrets or something.

And now it was on his shirt.

The Rocket removed it and bundled the thing up, stuffing it under one arm as he approached the group to hide some of the cloying scent. It was a little too cold out for just a t-shirt, but it was a worthwhile sacrifice.
