Kaito looked thoughtful. "But it seems ... almost as if they were guided," he said quietly. "I mean, think about it ... that's some awful good coincidences ... that they ended up in the same places, or on the same roads ..."

"How are your brothers?" Earendil asked Lin. "I haven't seen them since Aunt Elnara's wedding. How have they been?"

Lin had to admit that was true, and it was even weirder for Gion to find that sword of all things. She had to wonder sometimes of how much her family was involved but what could she say about it?

Unless there was a higher force and that idea really weirded Lin out.

"They've been doing alright," Lin replied, "Yukito though is head of the magic class because Mom has the twins. So he gets to deal with all of the students, fortunately Miyu is old enough to replace him, but Yue is nervous about that and checks in whenever he can."

She didn't know if he was worried about having his daughter traumatized for the fact Miyu was more or less an adult capable of going out and dating. If she would stop running away long enough to do so.

"Triton got roped into teaching at another school by the head of the fighter class, because they now have an exchange program with that other school. He's dealing...."

Earendil laughed. "Triton never really struck me as the teaching sort," he grinned. "More a father figure, or just ... the kind of person who wants to do something. I mean he's good with kids, Valar know how he was with Daeron, Daeron still talks about him sometimes ... but still." He laughed again.

Kaito looked at Earendil thoughtfully. "How old were you when you first met Triton?" he asked him curiously.

Earendil shrugged. "I was too young to remember. The first time I actually remember seeing him was when I was fourteen, the first time I met Lin. He and Donovan were going to see Uncle Gion ..."

"Yea, I remember that," Lin replied, "I didn't like to be left behind. Yuki says you were one when they came the first time."

She left it at that, as Yukito had also said it was hard to believe at times the cute little boy with the lisp would grow up so much. Of course to be fair Earendil was one, that was really young to her.

Earendil chuckled. "Yeah ... young. I don't remember that time at all, but to be fair, who does?"

Rhea coughed and looked away.

Leyenda looked over at Rhea. "You do?"

Rhea shrugged. "My cousin Amara came for a visit when I was first born ... she inherited the gift of memory from her mother. For all I know, I absorbed it then already."

Kaito was impressed. "And here I thought Shiro was the only one with a perfect memory," he grinned.

Lin chuckled at that, it was amazing what Rhea picked up at times Lin thought there was very little that Rhea could not do. Then again her gift was an odd one.

"Gift taking root that young," Lin murmured, "But then again you were young when Mom first tried teaching you."

Lin had to do meditation because it was a requirement set down from her mother, though she was hopeless as sensing auras. Being around elves all the time had made her very desensitized to magic, she knew when there was a lack of it, but beyond that she was hopeless.

"Meditation.... that was fun... well for some of us."

Rhea smiled. "When I first started, I was hopeless ... I took in absolutely everything, I couldn't block anything out, I couldn't clear my mind. Your mother must have been so frustrated, Lin. Everything she did with me, I went overboard."

Not that she could help it, but she could understand how frustrating it must have been. It didn't help that she had been a bit frightened as well.

"Nah... she had to put up with me first," Lin replied, "I got past the first part, and the second part but I can't tell your aura from Earendil's. The only thing I can tell, is when I'm not on the family compound or not here with all of you it feels more empty. That's it, otherwise it's all the same to me... I mean the only way I could possibly pull it off is if I'm on a deserted island if only one other person."

Rhea thought Lin learned was adaptable, she could adapt very easily between an elven concept of magic and a gaian one, which as unusual because they were so different.

"Besides, she teaches a lot, I'm sure she's use to the few that have a few problems starting. Meditation has always been a requirement back home, so she's had to teach all sorts of people."

Rhea arched one eyebrow at Lin. "Who had their magic go so wildly out of control?" she asked. "You left shortly afterward, but you have no idea how many accidents I caused around home. Honestly, without Cindy's help, I would still be like that today. Totally uncontrollable."

She smiled. "But with Cindy's help, it's gotten to the point where I don't always need my staff, which is nice. I mean, it sort of became a part of me, but ... still. I feel kind of free without it. Like Mother, when she doesn't need her crutches."

Lin smiled at that, "True, I did hear about that one after all. I think it left Mom a bit frazzled but you're not the first person she's met who's gone out of control."

Lin sighed a bit thinking about the sort of people she had met running around the school when she grew up. Some of them were probably a few bricks short of a wall, but others were quite nice.

Pity she thought, Irvine would like this place the geek.

"But it's good to know you can feel comfortable without your staff."

They continued to sail for several hours, and when the sun began to lower in the sky, the flurry of activity began once more. Sails were lowered, anchors dropped, and immediately the movement of the ship began to slow.

"Almost there," Leyenda told the others excitedly. "We should be there within the hour." She pointed ahead. "See? There she is! The Zephyr!"

Kaito put one hand to his brow to block out the light. It was barely a speck on the horizon to him, a tiny dot in the distance. "Huh?"

Earendil and Rhea had no trouble seeing it. "She's beautiful," Rhea breathed. "And so big!"

Lin grinned and looked up at the sky instead because she was quite use to this by now. She of all people having tailed fighters and hunters and just being around elves in general she knew.

They would most often see whatever is there to see before you did.

"Elven sight remember Kaito?" Lin inquired glancing at Kaito.

"Still not fair," Kaito pouted.

It was odd, but now that the ship was moving a bit more slowly, it was rocking a bit more, and he was a bit more unsteady on his feet.

"I'm going to go below and check on Shiro and Ura," he told the others. "I'll be back up in a while." And he headed towards the door of the captain's cabin.

Celeb had fallen asleep curled up against Whisper, but as the boat began to rock a bit he woke up and looked about disorientedly. "Leyenda?" he murmured, rubbing his eyes.

Leyenda smiled and moved to kneel next to him. "We're almost to the ship," she told him, placing one hand on his head. "We're going on a voyage! Are you excited?"

Celeb smiled and nodded, wrapping his arms around her neck.

Lin shifted her weight a bit to account for the sudden rocking motion she wondered if it was the result of the ship slowing down suddenly, after all they couldn't keep going fast. She looked around to see what everyone else was doing.

"Leyenda," Earendil commented suddenly, "I just realized ... your father is here, giving orders, but I haven't seen your mother since before we left ..."

Leyenda blinked up at Earendil. "She's not on the ship," she told him. She stood up and pointed behind them. "She's on the next ship, captaining that one. And Galion's captaining the third one."

Earendil blinked and looked behind them. "I didn't realize there were three ships going," he said in surprise.

"How else would we get everything to the Zephyr in one trip?" Leyenda laughed. "They'll all be going back to Namonuito tomorrow, but if we had gone one ship at a time we would have been waiting another week just here to be able to leave again!"
