Ken Raite - Genin -- Raiton -- Raikou Hira -- Kumogakure no Sato -- Mechanical left leg. - Ken walked in from the Raikage's office. He stormed up to the mission office, ripped a handful of the posters down from the walls, and signed up for them. He walked off to go complete them. They were asinine and a little bit stupid, but he didn't care. There was no way in hell he wasn't going to the Chuunin exams. [Just like there's no way in hell I'm doing three consecutive posts for the mission, so I'm doing three paragraphs instead.] He entered the shop, first stop on the way. He spoke with the store keeper. He basically had to just work the store. Nothing difficult, although in Ken's furious state, this wasn't going to be pleasant. His first order of business was to work the till. Nothing to do really, as the store wasn't all that busy. After ten minutes, he'd made one sale, and gotten bored of it all. The next thing he had to do was sweep. After shooting the shopkeeper, a fit looking man, an odd look as if wondering why he couldn't do it himself, he began his job, sweeping all around the store, from the store room to the area behind the till, hell, even the front of the store, outside, was swept. Not the most exciting things but hey, it was a mission, and it was one step closer. Finally, he had to restock the shelves. Nothing he couldn't handle. It too was boring work, but after a couple minutes, he eventually had most of the shelves not only restocked, by put back into order again, as most people had an unnatural compulsion to move things around. He collected his payment from the man, got the document signed, and returned to the mission office to clear up his first mission. Ken Raite - Genin -- Raiton -- Raikou Hira -- Kumogakure no Sato -- Mechanical left leg. - Ken's second mission from the office was a simple mail delivery one. Why were all these missions so useless? Didn't they have people to do this normally? Weren't shinobi supposed to be fighters, protectors of villages, not mailmen and shop keepers? Oh well. He got a bag of a handful of letters. The first stop wasn't too far away from the mission office, thankfully enough. The problem was that it was on the top floor of an elevator-less apartment. Brilliant. Ken ended up having to go up ten storeys on foot to deliver the message by hand to the door. He made it all the way back down, stopped for a break, then headed to the next delivery point. This one was across the village center, and Ken made his way through the crowds to get there. He felt like a total idiot, basically an adult, still a genin, and doing menial tasks when he could be fighting for his village, or "training" for the chuunin exams. Training. Yeah, like he'd have time for that, with the constant attacks on the village since he'd been back from his mission a few months ago. He delivered the second letter and moved on. This one was quite a few blocks away, but he didn't hustle. He had no reason to. He had ages to do as many missions as he could cram in, and then go slash at trees until he felt he was strong enough to actually survive the exams, and maybe even survive the upcoming battles. The last letter went into the slot, and he went back to the mission office to record the completion. Ken Raite - Genin -- Raiton -- Raikou Hira -- Kumogakure no Sato -- Mechanical left leg. - A third paper was in Ken's hand for a third mission. Apparently someone had dropped something along the way, and now it was up to him to find it. He stared at the person giving out the missions, but shrugged and left anyways. At least this one seemed, you know, reasonable enough. Shinobi had to learn how to find things, yeah? Apparently it was all within the area of the village centre, which saved him a lot of time. His first look was somewhere near the shop he'd worked at not long ago. He searched high and low for this thing, whatever it was, he'd forgotten what exactly it was but knew what it looked like, but despite that, he never found it. And he'd searched practically everywhere too. Still feeling like a complete idiot, he kept on it. The next stop he checked out was somewhere in the dead centre of the village square. That one was a bit harder to look for, as there was a few benches and lots of people around and all that, made it hard to move around. Again, nothing. But maybe the third try would be the charm. And it just happened to be that the third time worked. somewhere out near a playground not far from the academy, he found it. A kid's toy. Big surprise there. Sighing, Ken picked it up and headed back to the house it belonged to, and dropped it off. The document was signed, and he went back to the mission office to clear up yet another mission. He needed about twenty mission points, and this was four. Excellent. Ken Raite - Genin -- Raiton -- Raikou Hira -- Kumogakure no Sato -- Mechanical left leg. - Paper number four. Mission point number 6. Still a hell of a ways to go. Maybe his month long mission with his father would count, which would put him with a B-ranked or so, 8 points, so about 14 after this mission. But like that was going to happen. Helping the elderly. Brilliant. So he was a delivery boy, a mailman, and now a slave worked. Gotta love the missions here. Sighing, he went to work. Stop number one, he had to help trim the lawn of a villager's house. Not too bad. It didn't take him all that long with the push mower, trimming the grass down to what the guy wanted. He got a couple coins for his troubles, and part of the mission was done. Second stop of four. This was going to be great. His leg was aching too, he needed to oil it. After a bit, he was going to get the leg modified. Somewhere in this village, the designer had to be somewhere. Ah well. This stop involved something similar to the first. Christ, didn't they have landscapers or something? A push mower wasn't that hard to use, either. After a couple minutes, he got the document signed and moved on to stop number three. This one was a bit more involved, as he had to trim weeds. Great. He hoped the payoff for this all was good, as in, him actually getting to, and beating the, exams. That would make it worth it, hopefully. If not he could beg to just be given the rank, which would also be nice. He took about half an hour to trim the weeds, and had to stop afterwards. Being on his hands and knees that long was tiring. Finally, he was at the last stop. Trimming some hedges. Easier than weeding, he figured. Least it didn't involve him having to be on his hands and knees for half an hour. He trimmed the hedges, got the document signed as before, and made his way back to the mission office. Point number six. Hey, he was making some headway at least. He would be incredibly pissed off if they increased the number of missions needed. No way was he doing this stupid BS again. He had to go walk some dogs. Simple enough. He decided to change the scenery up a little bit, so he went over to the lake to do it instead of staying back here in the village center. Ken Raite - Genin -- Raiton -- Raikou Hira -- Kumogakure no Sato -- Mechanical left leg. - Ken came in and got the points for the last mission, and got the documentation ready for the next one. Next mission was just as asinine as the first...and second...and so on. Ah well. The things he did for...well, himself, really. He had to pick up trash. Awesome. And in the busiest place in town, even better. He didn't plan on doing anything of value anyways. He sighed and moved on with what he had to do. No sense in moping about. And he was halfway there, with this going to be point ten. He grabbed a couple empty bottles off the ground and tossed them into the bag he was carrying around to do this. He moved about the square, grabbing various things found on the ground. Some bottles, bags, pieces of paper, a used sandwich, and more. Ken felt like a slave in his own country picking up all this crap. He stuff it all in the bag and moved on to a slightly quieter district to continue with the crap-collecting. After another ten minutes of collecting the most random collection of junk he could find (was that a used condom or a plastic bag...to be honest he truly didn't want to know), he continued to grab stuff on the way back to the mission office, everything from paper cups to more plastic bags and mysterious...things. He deposited the bag of stuff in the garbage bin just outside the mission office and went inside. The document was signed and a tenth point was added to his tally. He grabbed the right papers and set them out. He had to help at the library this time. Fair enough. He liked Riaka anyways.

Ken once again entered the office, starting to get tired of seeing the same place. At least he was only three missions away from finishing this damn thing. Now he had to go clean a house near to the mission office. Brilliant.
He headed out there as quickly as he could and entered the place. The owner told him what needed to be done, and left to do some shopping. Ken started with some sweeping, sweeping up all the stuff in the kitchen and the living room, then to the bathroom and bedroom. That in itself took quite a long time to do, but eventually, the floors were absolutely spotless.
Then, he moved on to dusting the furniture in the living room and the bedroom. That took quite a bit of time as he had to do each little piece of furniture and the owner of this house had quite a lot of furniture to get cleaned. But, Ken got it done quickly enough...quicker than he swept the place anyways. And then the furniture was also spotless, to go with the floors.
Finally, he had to do some more back breaking, knee wrenching work on the floors of the bathroom, washing it and the bathtub and sink with some cleaner from under the sink. The fumes nearly made him sick, but hey, he had to do it anyways for this mission. He scrubbed at the stuff, got all the grime away from the sink and the tub, and even cleaned the toilet for good measure. He got his papers signed and went back to the office to get the mission cleared up.
His 18th point had to be worked at the hot springs, so he got the documents and went out.
