"Only if you want." He made sure that she was standing properly and safely before directing her to the door. Downstairs they would make breakfast and hopefully laugh like the old days, but they had to get there first.
Their steps were slow at first just to be cautious, but Damian's speech was beginning to quicken the more he realized he truly wasn't dreaming.
"We could make waffles, or pancakes. I'd like some sausage myself. Everything in the fridge has been grown here, you know, in the purest land. They have the strictest laws concerning pollution and what types of machinery to run, it's really quite fascinating..."

Raquel smiled distantly, making her way down with only slight difficulty. "Really?" She smiled up at him, loving how he had taken an interest in their area and learning the thngs they had talked about. He had joked with her about becoming a farmer, and they even discussed making their own wine.

Such simple memories seeming so long ago and here they were in front of her as if they never left. "Have you gotten near a cow as of yet my love..." She asked, not able to picture the Centurion in overalls in a field somewhere.

Maybe that'd be a fun experiment though, she thougt to herself.

"I have indeed gotten near one, but I never touched the creature." Actually, it was an accident that the cow had even wandered into their yard, but soon enough someone had come looking for her. Damian had stared at the cow, the cow had stared at him, and after a great moo that had sent him jumping out of his skin, she had walked away.

"I did however begin to repair the vineyards. Nat has been golden in that, you know."
Once in the kitchen, Damian began setting out what they would need to make themselves some good food. He had indeed upgraded the kitchen to almost the same level as the one back in Veratia, but he thought perhaps doing things themselves might be good.

Raquel laughed at the first part, wishing she could have seen such a sight herself.
"I got a glimpse...everything looks so alive and happy and healthy....I'm jsut sorry I couldn't be here to help..." She added solemnly, though smiled again once they reached the kitchen.

"But I've been told I'm a fast learner! So I can catch up later. for now..." She left his side only to go to open the fridge.

"You're here now. That's all that matters."
When her back was turned, his eyes went to her spine where he knew a deep wound was healing. Damn him, he thought. Damn that awful man and his sick desire to hurt his darling. That Amaranthine wouldn't live for five minutes if he ever crossed the threshold of his door.
"But let's try our hand at this breakfast, yes? What would we like?"

She smiled and fished out some sausage, fruit, eggs and whatever else she could think of. "A little of everything." She smiled at him going to wash the fruit. "Do you wanna get a heads start on the sausage. when they're done I'll put a few eggs on. The left overs in the pan make the eggs have a yummy taste..." She scrunched up her nose and smiled, feeling good that this felt so normal. "I haven't forgotten how to cook what i do know..." She looked down, still smiling as she scrubbed a few more fruits and set them aside to prepare to cut to make a small little fruit salad to go with this breakfast.

And so, they did one of the most normal things to be expected from a couple living together: they made breakfast.
It was a feast for two once they were done, with fruit salad, waffles, sausage, a few small pancakes, and scrambled eggs. They had laughed and threatened one another with spatulas in mock fencing formations. Everything that had happened was for a brief moment in time pushed to the back of their brains until all they had was each other.

Once they were all done, Raquel was practically floating, even though she doubted she'd be able to eat so much. "I say its pretty much perfect..." She sighed, leaning into him, wrapping her arms about his middle. "We make a pretty good team Mr. Centurion..." She smiled up at him with a little twinkle in her eye.

He felt as if his joy and gladness was a record being played back over and over again. He would never grow sick of the song, but keep dancing to it.

"What would make it perfect?" he wondered aloud. "Are we missing anything?" As he posed the question, he pulled out a chair for Raquel. He wanted to tell himself that she was still strong and capable of taking care of herself, and she had since they were separated, but now... he almost found it hard to believe that she had made it that far.

"Hmm..." She was about to take a seat when she stopped, her attention caught on soemthing outside. She went over and tiptoed to reach a high cabinet, pulling down a tiny little vase before padding past Damian, flashing him a smile.

She went to the kitchen door and stepped outside a moment, feeling the brisk but welcome morning air. It was beautiful though she didn't spend too much time focused on it. She went over in her bare feet to the edge of the small patio overlooking a beautiful view of the gardens and vineyards to pick a small handful of little wild flowers that were still lingering despite the chill that was setting in more and more each day. She dropped them into the little glass container, making her way back inside to set it in the center of their feast.

"There...now it's perfect..." She smiled gesturing to the spread grandly.

Flowers. He hadn't even thought about flowers...
Damian chuckled and gently took her in for a hug and kiss. "There we are. Now everything is wonderful... and you need to eat, because I swear a strong breeze will take you away."
Once again he took out the chair for Raquel so she could sit. His posture was straight as if he were back at his old haunt. All he needed was a suit, not to mention a shower, and he would be the old Centurion.

"You too by the looks of it.." She smiled taking the seat, and taking note of Damian's air. It saddened her to see that he had in fact gone back to his old ways, in the aristocratic sense. He was still kind and loving and the Damian she loved, but there was this hard shell, a defensive one that had been protecting his grieving heart and it seemed now to want to protect her...

She hoped in time she could help take that down and let the inner Damian shine through again. Let him relax and live more freely...sure the suits and statue was nice here and there but all the time wold be exhausting for anyone. Even this grand centurion.

But Raquel let this thought as well as others digress as she took a bite of her fruit and just had at it all. She smiled distantly, commenting quietly on how amazing it all was.

In between mouthfuls though, she spoke up. "I haven't been having the headaches..." She noted quietly, out of nowhere it seemed. "My dreams are...odd still..but different..I think its just trauma though..." She glanced up at him as she took a bite of eggs. She did fail to mention however her fatigue. The pain was gone but it was replaced by a lack of energy...as if there was just somehting missing inside her...

Damian sat very close to her, almost a little too close. He wanted to hold her hand or have her in his lap, but he told himself not to cling, not to be too afraid that she would be taken away...

It was true, though, that he did need to eat more. He'd gone back to his days of making money, eating little, and wearing suits. Occasionally he would step outside, but lack of sun made him pale once more. They'd reverted in more ways than just personality. Raquel was thin and beaten, and he was thin and uptight.
But now was time to change all that.

Upon hearing about her headaches and whatnot, Damian seemed to brighten.
"You always were a fast healer. We'll have the rest come just as smoothly, yes?"
Damian gazed at her lovingly, but it was still haunted. She was alive, but their accomplishments seemed dead.

She swallowed, looking up to return the smile, though her eyes were solemn as they met his. She reached for his hand under the table, giving it a slight squeeze.

With her free hand she reached for her orange juice and sipped it softly, not sure why things felt... a bit awkward. Maybe they were just so...in shock..they weren't quite sure what to do next.

"Yes...As smoothly as possible..." She smiled down at her plate, picking at the sausage gently.

He knew what he wanted to do. So, he simply did it.
When Raquel was finished chewing, Damian reached over and wrapped his arms around her. He would have lifted her to his lap if he wasn't so afraid of hurting her, but this was good enough.
"God, I missed you," he whispered, and he just held her. The kitchen was relatively quiet, save for a few bird chirps from the bushes outside. The sun was lazy and bright. This was home for them, but they needed to clear the air first.
