wordlessly she shifted, trotting to the womans side as ordered. she was, as needed, blank.. her demon taking control while her mind remained asleep. she glanced back once to see Miri, then was gone.
waiting for Bain to vanish she smiled, her posture changing to relaxed as her bangs fell over her eyes. this was her element. " really... " her tone changed to almost mocking, the perfect pitch to irritate. " then here is a new language for you to study, dirt bag. its called ' taunt the big man'. Go play with your toys and back the hell off." her attitude had done a full 360 when her mother left, switching to a dark mocking hatred. Bain needed her to be kind and sweet.. but that was just the surface to Miri. in reality she had gotten more of Zoey's nature than she let on. a slow smirk turned up her mouth and she looked at Cassus, waiting for him to strike out.

Cassus lowered the walls of corpses and put down his book to look at the child.
"So, Miri, would you like to talk, or continue running. You're welcome to do either and I promise no harm will come to you or anyone else either way."Cassus wasn't being dishonest. He had no intentions of harming anyone for Miri, she wasn't in his plans and had little use to him. However she knew things he could not permit Sergei to know at the current time.

irritated that he hadnt rose to the bait she flicked her hair over her shoulder, paseing restlessly. her hair and eyes both darkened until they were black, a color she wore when she was away from Bain. " running wont get me anywhere, and its not like you have anything intresting to talk about. you dont play in my realms, and i dont know anything outside the mirror world." she wasnt even trying to play nice now, just sitting down in a lotus position to keep from growling. after a few moments of silence she cracked an eye open, asking suspisiously. " do you play chess..?"

The girl was indeed interesting. But she was nothing like Sergei, quite the contrary she was like Sergei's brother. Perhaps he could use this to his advantage by revealing an ace up his sleeve. However, he decided it was best to leave some things secret.
"Ah the mirror world. I extracted much from the little traitor's head before she escaped. I learned much because she believed me foolish, arrogant, too stupid to realize that she worked for the other side. But little did she realize what this place was, and I think it's safe to tell you. I am this place, rather, this place is me. All the souls my followers collect come to me and created this place. So every thought, every memory, every feeling, I am aware of."Cassus tossed her a twisted smile as if to say that he knew the memories she had locked away. Whether he did or not was a mystery, however he felt he would indulge the girl.
"But this bores you of course. Sergei would find it facinating if he were on my side, but you aren't like him. No, nothing like you're father. Too rude, too angry to be my old friend's true daughter. Though, I will admit you are very similar to Cain, Sergei's brother. But I have said too much, and it does so happen I love chess."Cassus made a rather large chess board appear in front of them and the pieces were fitting. On Cassus' side were undead and on Miri's side were medieval vampires. Cassus moved one of his pawns forward and nodded to indicate her turn.

she had the nerve to smirk, moving a pawn of her own two spaces forward as she tapped her nails on the board, gesturing it was his turn. " from your words you would know who.. and what i am. " she didnt try to argue about his words of Zoey.. personaly she hadnt liked the witch either. she wasnt what she appeared.. but instead a child born and forgotten in the mirror realms. Bain was her mother, but who her father was..? only Zoey had known that. luckily she still had a bond to Sergei through her mothers magic, a small safe guard but still valuble to her. looking thoughtful she half smiled, her eyes closing as she mused. " but we can agrue parents later, if you still find it funny.. your right in the fact that i find it boring. your move Cassus."

"Hm, how interesting, are you biding time little one? How interesting you are. It's as if you want to invoke my wrath. It's clear that you are looking for a father, do you not care how you gain this figure? Is it that you want me to break you, and make you my own. Perhaps that is your purpose, to fill in the gaps that I have left open. I killed my daughter you know, she comitted a sin, one that further embarassed my family name. She loved another women, and refused to wed the men I had set out for her. But never again will that happen, never again will my family be disrespected!"A twisted look of pleassure ran across Cassus' face as the room's fine qualities faded away and revealed what it really was. In an instant the walls and floors were replaced with human tissue and hands reached out and clawed for Miri. Voices cried out, the sounds of millions of souls filled the room and Cassus stood, commander of them all, now no longer human but demonic. But just as it happened it returned to normal and another pawn was forward on the chess board as if it never happened.

her eyes narrowed, taking an odd violet light as she bristled. break me..? few things but death could do that.. no, if anything that would make her wish for blood, no servitude. there was a hint of fear, and a good dose of irritation in her gaze.. but she forced the emotions back. " hell of a trick.. pull that one out at parties?" smoothing her hair back before she moved the pawn next to her first one forward. she was using the time to think of a proper responce.. one that wouldnt get her host into a fit again. streaks of her hair turned blond and purple as she finaly mused. "perhaps its safer to say.. i do not wish for a father. i've never looked for one, nor do i see their point. i love my Matim very much, i refuse to betray the family i have. i feel sorry for your daughter, that she had to die.. but i dont see myself in her place." she wasnt a creature to be won over, her loyalties were hard to gain.. and only death or Betrayal could break them.

You have nothing to fear of death, after all, you've died before. As I've no current use of you, perhaps I'll use you as entertainment. I see that fear, the slightest fear in the back of your mind. The one that realizes where she is, and who she is with. The part that feels the souls around you, the part that will submit to me!"The chess board disappeared and the room returned to it's true state. The hands this time grabbed Miri and forced her against a newly formed wall of corpses with twisted faces that stared at her, never looking away.

(( lol no, she knows perfectly well how dangerus he is. but her character is stubborn and ruthless.))
Jerking wildly she closed her eyes, gold fur racing over her skin as she tried to fight free. her nails sharpened slightly, her fangs sliding down.. but that was all she could manage, unable to shift fully because of her shock. by the time she stilled she was panting, bruises forming where the hands held her. a large section of hair hung over her face, her eyes half closed as she focused on trying not to panic. it was hard.. the faces distracted her.. but she knew panic wouldnt help, only action and thought. taking a breath she let it out, the hair over her face stirring as she shivered. she hated it.. she had been held still for years and nearly lost her mind.. to her this was hell.

Cassus moved the hair from her face and began to chant. His hands glowed and he then thrust them against her stomach and chest. Her body shook with magical energy and after a moment he let go. A magical mark now appeared on her neck and all the way down her torso. He grabbed her chin and forced her to look him in the eyes.
"Don't submit to the voices, control them. Make them silent! Bend the souls to your desire! Let the darkness flow through you and silence the voices now!"

Miri flinched as the mark burned, her mind locking down as she felt a black cord tangle around her magic. it pulsed, small sounds telling her to run as she struggled to get away. his words made her fall back, her energy closing over the dark magic and accepting it. pysicaly pain jacknifed through her and she screamed, the sound almost inhuman as softer voices echoed it. her body twitched as she changed, her now violet eyes meeting Cassus's almost trustingly. he was her life line, he was telling her how to make it stop.
It was only about half an hour before she fell still again, her head falling forward as she jerked the hands holding her away. stumbling forward she fell on her knees at Cassus's feet, the voices replaced by a dull hum of energy in the back of her mind. still she looked pale, her eyes shell shocked as she studied his boots. her features were more angelic, the black bleeding from her hair to leave pale gold in its wake. the first attempt at speaking sounded strange, a voice echoing hers as she sighed quietly. " hurts.."

The room returned to normal and Cassus knelt down beside her and eased her pain.
"There there my child. The pain is only temporary. But it lets you see everything more clearly. The souls are no longer screaming, but chanting, chanting your name in love and submission. Let them empower you, let them serve you. The more you accept the darkness, the better you feel, and the closer to me you are."

shivering she reacted out of reflex, hugging him tightly as she hid her face against his cloak. catching his scent she calmed, seeming to catch a bit more control as the shaking stopped. inhaling again pulled the peices of her mind together again.. feeling soothed by the steady thrum of power that filtered through her. she was.. were? the darkness rose up soothingly, whispering gently in her fragmented mind. with her father.. he was teaching her, she had to learn. letting some of the power soak into her she relaxed her hold on him, rocking back until she was crouching on her heels. she remembered Bain dimly, a fleeting thought that.. unlike before, seemed unimportant. tilting her head she lowered her gaze, her tone confused as she murmered. " i cant.. everything seems off father. what was i doing, i cant remember.."

"We were playing chess but had a frightful argument. But everything is fine now darling, we're home and safe."Cassus smiled, content within this new fantasy he had created. She now had replaced his daughter, and would be exactly as he wanted her to be.

nodding she brushed the remaining tears from her eyes, finger combing her hair as she pulled herself together. without even thinking about it she made a chair form next to her, sinking onto the soft cusions as she looked at her father adoringly. " should we continue..? or do we have other things that must be done." she couldnt remember a fight.. but it must have been silly. no one won fights with father, and she couldnt imagine fighting his word.
