Tjaden checked the straps on the horse team of the wagon Erron was sitting against and generally went about being busy as his new acquaintance regaled him with tales of adventure and heroism. He gave a low whistle as Erron came to a close.
"You and your companions sound destined for greatness. I am humbled by your exploits." Tjadem said. It was a far cry from the rough, kurt, typical Orcish behaviour that Tjaden had greeted Erron with before.
"The truth is I was once trained in the art of war, but have since been driven from my home land. I have made my way from the lands of the Scorching Sun by trading my labour for safe passage for I have nothing to trade or use to buy. I cannot even afford adequate lodging, let alone a sword to swing." Tjaden said the last sentence with a sigh of longing.
"I would gladly brave such bandits had I the proper equipment. I have faith that my destined lays in the direction of the city of Haven."
Tjaden paused in his work to gaze in the direction of Haven, as if he could see the future that lay ahead of him.

Erron stands up and looks towards the armory "Well that can be arranged, and an additional hand in battle is always good to have. Anyhow you can't travel dangerous roads without some sort of equipment, give me a moment and I'll see what I can get from the store nearby sir knight."

Erron hurries into the "General Fightin'" store and purchases a Split Mail, Longsword and a Large shield. (GM, about how much of a price break do I get with the Gilded Bracers? Regular price for all of this would be 290 gold)

He comes back bearing the equipment and presents "I hope this will be good enough?"

((20% is what I'm going with. Rounding down. So it would cost 218 gold. I'm gonna ignore the "Godspeed" you just used for now, just because we're not at a critical point, but there's no way you could've ran back into the city, found what you were looking for, returned in the amount of time that was stated. It's okay, but just keep it to a minimum lol.))

((It was his...er....Monk speed bonus..yeah thats it lol j/ks))

"Knight?" Tjaden said almost surprised. "Well, I suppose that would be the equivalent in most human cultures, but I..." Tjaden found himself talking to air as the monk had apparently sped off in the direction of the town. The title was fitting. While most warriors found themselves training almost exclusively in martial forms, the knight received social etiquette, spiritual and political training. Tjaden had indeed learned such things, though his social training had been focused on the human lands which lay closest to the Serpent Tribe's borders since Orckish etiquette was straightforward and simple, if not nonexistent.

After some time, the monk returned under the load of some armour and a sword. Tjaden paid it no mind until Erron marched right up to him and presented the arms and armour directly to him. Tjaden's severely pronounced, tusked Orcish dropped so fast he would have cut his own toes off if it reached that far. Almost without thinking, he reached for the long sword and drew it in a fluid, practiced motion. One, two, three practice swings as if the sword had been in his hand for years instead of seconds. His look of surprise melted away and he was suddenly baring all his pointed teeth. It took a moment for anyone looking at him to realize he was grinning. The grin was then replaced by a look of concern directed at Erron.
"This is certainly a gift worthy of any warrior...but should you not discuss the expenditure of funds with your new-found colleagues? I would hate for you to come to harsh words over this, considering the fast bond you have all formed in such a short time, albeit in severe circumstances."
PostPosted: Fri Sep 04, 2009 8:57 am

Erron waved away the concern and explained "You're right, however we're being paid well for this escort and besides: I feel that my companions would agree with me in this course of action"

Erron glances around with a frown. "Speaking of which I wonder what is taking them so long...I have a feeling that the caravan master is getting impatient, no matter what sort of service it is we're providing"

He looked up and tried roughly guessing the time by the sun's position in the sky, it was an hour or two from high noon, the cool sea air was blowing softly through the plaza as townspeople went about their business: bakers, farmers, butchers and basket weavers all hocking their wares to the nearest person, children running around with wooden sticks pretending to be wizards and warriors off to slay the dragon.

Erron flashed back to his own childhood, nothing nearly as free spirited. Until he had been found by the school he had simply worked every day, "Earning his keep" as his father had put it. Things had gotten no easier when he was adopted into the Dojo, instead of working he would be trained and would help train, clean the central room with the rest of the students and study.

The young elf woman walked up towards the caravan, her irritation apparent on her face. She made note of the protectors that had already found their way here and looked back to see if the others had followed her, which they had.

Thus she went up to the caravan owner and said curtly, "Can we get on our way? I brought the stragglers so there shouldn't be any problems."

Phineas Fairhand smiled at the arrival of its final guests and his messenger, despite her curt greetings, he showed no distaste towards her at all.

"Thank you Laren, you may take your position at the head of the column."

With a warm grin and a clap of his hands, he greeted the others.

"I am pleased to see that you have all reached me with little difficulties. I had heard that some of you were even the main reason for the recovery of the temple's stolen artifact. Good show! Haha. Now, onto business! Attention everyone!"

All of the caravan workers turned to their leader and stopped what they were doing.

"We will be departing now, I want all merchants onboard with the cargo, all guards either on horseback or flanking either side of the carriages by foot, and all of our mercenaries please find your place amongst the caravan as you see fit."

The richly garmented elf turned around, his cloak flowing with him as he continued his directions.

"It will take us one and a half days before we reach Haven, we will stop in ten hours and make camp for the night and pick up at first light in the morning. In the event of a raid, do not panic, chaos leads to destruction and I will not have that happen to my shipment, nor to any of you. Organize around the caravan center and fan out from there. This shipment is very important to the survival of many lives in Haven, they are in need of the medicine we carry as well as the stone to further their construction. May whatever god you believe in watch over us as we begin our journey. That is all."

With that, Phineas waved his arm as he climbed atop the lead carriage and gave the signal for all drivers to do the same.

Prometheus then took a place at the side of caravan ready to run as fast, and as long as an elf can. That was when he took in the sight of the orc, and remembered the dead ogre in the dungeon.

(Beast, we killed an ogre, not an orc, RP a placement if you want)

Erron decided to stay to the front and right of the lead carriage so as not to have wheels or horses at his heels, but still be able to engage combat in those two areas if the need would arise.

The heavy city gates swung slowly as guards atop the battlements shouted instructions to each other "Aye, pull the lever and release the locks! Caravan outbound to Haven coming through!" The drivers shouted off and began leaving town as the rest of the escort took their places

During the majority of this, Tjaden was donning his new armour. Once on, he took up a position with the caravan....as an armed Guard. Tjaden was transformed with these three simple pieces of equipment from a second-class, foreign common folk into a straight-back, tall and proud warrior. His long brown hair fell in waves onto his shining splint mail, his sword lay ready at his side and his shield was held aloft on his arm as if it bore the heraldry of his tribe. He was indeed a new man.

Tjaden spied Erron and took up stride beside him.
"So, my good benefactor, I owe you good. I must repay you and your troupe somehow. Until that damned magic-user is no longer a threat to you, I will follow you into danger. My sword is at your service." Tjaden said proudly, and he meant it.
"Who else rides with you?"

Laren took her place ahead of the caravan, she and her pet eagle, Zeus, would act as the forward scouts for the caravan. This was in order to give them a few momments warning.

The young elf woman still couldn't figure out exactly how Phineas had charmed her into helping him. Then agian it didn't really matter because she need the coin.

Zeus flew up high acording to Larens's orders, keeping an eye out for any possable threats.

The Current Time is now 3:00 p.m.

The caravan moves slowly but surely as you remain on the Merchant's Highway. You spend the time conferring with Phineas as he recounts his countless travels and his beaming personality ensures you that he is sincere and trustworthy in every way. In all likelihood, this is the primary reason that his reputation has been built upon.

You are now approaching the Crossroads, there are several forests nearby. A single traveler is standing at the edge of the crossroad, greeting the arriving caravan.

"Hello! He calls out. "Where might you fine folks be headed?"

"Hail..," Phineas replies, though there is a clear hesitation in his usual friendliness. "Our destination is our own. I wish you well in your travels, but we are on a tight schedule."

"Oh that's a shame. Well, we can certainly make your load lighter for you! Have at 'em boys!

With that, several fwooshes are heard through the air as arrows pierce the space between the woods and the caravan. Several arrows thud into the sides of the wooden carriages as Phineas calls out.

"All guards and mercenaries! You know what to do!"

Phineas drew his own enchanted long sword and shield and made his way towards the center of the caravan, dodging projectiles as roughly a dozen bandits rushed out from either side of the forests.

Erron sprung into action, his discussion with Tjaden cut short and being left at "The Druid Prometheus and the Wizard Selce are friends of-" He readied his fists and shouted "All together now! Lets do what we do best!"

Erron decided to work his way into the fray from one of the flanks, beating senseless whatever bandit was unlucky enough to get in arm's length of him, he called to Selce and Prometheus "I think now is a good time for those wide area spells!" He glanced back at the new ranger accompanying them and hoped that she would deal with the archers and make battle easier for everyone who was on their side.

As the caravan stopped Tjaden strained to see what was up ahead to no avail. It didn't matter, however, as Tjaden new exactly what happened and what to do about it when the arrows started flying. He drew his sword.
"And to those who abandon the light, you shall be sought by the servants of the Scorching Sun and be forever burned for your crimes!" Tjaden called out as he waded full tilt into the nearest bandit. With ease he slipped into 'Cobra Stance,' the sword waving ahead of him as if it had a life of its own. He stepped forward and dipped into the 'The Snake Rushes in the Willows' and struck, aiming to pierce the defenses of the bandit from below and drive his sword up through the neck.
