Cat glanced at Spider-man, an eyebrow raised, and then followed him. The sudden change of mood was a bit disconcerting; what could make Ghost Rider's alter ego so upset? He'd been pragmatic about Doom, for Christ's sake!

Danny waited until Black Cat was in, then closed the door. Spider-Man could catch up when he was ready. He looked her dead in the eye as he spoke. "Cat, there's something wrong with Rorschach. The Spirit told me that he isn't to trust. The Spirit of the Ghost Rider has never steered me wrong. Ruined some aspects of my life, maybe, but it has never really steered me wrong." He suddenly went from mad to uncomfortable, dropping eye contact for a moment, realizing he'd said more about himself than he had intended. He pushed on, looking her in the eye again. "I wanted to warn you, because if Ghost Rider doesn't trust him that much, then he could very well be a danger as much as an ally. The worst part is, he's already inside the Sanctum. We need to be on guard. Everyone. Especially us. Especially you."

Cat blinked, then crossed her arms, her expression skeptical. "Why especially me? He seems most interested in the Spider, and least interested in me. In fact, if he could get away with ignoring me completely, I think he would."

Danny said, "Right now, I think he's interested in whoever's answering his questions. I'm pretty sure Howdy Doody could answer, and as long as the questions got adequate answers, he'd listen. Something just doesn't seem... right. And I don't mean his intensity. Something's just WRONG with him." Then his expression changed to genuine concern. "And you know why especially you. If things get out of hand in the Sanctum with NORMAL people, that MIGHT open up an opportunity for Azazel. I'm worried about you. I want you to be safe." That little voice of doubt crept back in. 'Why are you saying all that crap? You're the GHOST RIDER! You'll NEVER have a relationship that'll amount to ANYTHING!' He didn't have an answer for it anymore. He didn't know.

Cat raised her eyebrows. She still couldn't see what the problem was. "Okay, so we won't let things get out of hand in the sanctum," she replied reasonably. "He's just a guy with a gun. I checked. He's probably in pretty good physical condition, but we have superpowers. How much trouble do you think he can possibly cause before Spider webs him to a wall?"

Spider-man, who'd been keeping his mouth shut for once (more out of sheer exhaustion than concern for the effects of his mouth) said. "I kind of know what you're talking about. My Spider-sense is usually only good for immediate threats, but I get a vibe off of this guy that I don't get off of many other folks in our line of work. At least, not the ones on our side." Spider-man shifted uncomfortably, looking for the right words, at last they came to him. "He reminds me of Castle." he said frankly, letting the implications of the name sink in. "Or, maybe Venom. (Brock, not Gargan that guy is a complete tool). The point is, the guy doesn't just fight crime for truth and justice and all that, he's got deeper issues, and they haven't all been resolved by his quest for justice." Then, the broader meaning of Cat's assertion dawned on him. "Whendidyousearchhimanddidyousaygun?" Spilled out of his mouth. There had not been a single part of that statement that he liked.

Spider-man shrugged. "Well, since you apparently have the fastest hands in the west, I thought it might follow through for your ears. When did you search him? And did you say he has a gun?"

She rolled her eyes. "Yes, he has a gun. Possibly more than one; I didn't get a good look. And no, I didn't search him. I just saw a glimpse of one just before he pulled his coat shut on the way in." She raised an eyebrow. "Anything else? Incidentally, what is the big deal? If he's so much like Castle, just go take the stupid thing! You wiped the floor with Castle, right?"

"Okay..." she said. She just could not understand why this was such a big deal. It wasn't as though she risked her life for no reason.... On a regular basis... Without it being really fun.... Okay, now she could see their point. Sort of. "So we'll be careful."

She blinked at him, all wide-eyed innocence. "What? I'm agreeing with you." Why didn't he ever believe her? Just because she stretched the truth occasionally... Or whenever it was useful... or funny...

Cat would have looked honestly taken aback if it hadn't been for the obvious amusement in her eyes. "Oh, now he's impatient with me. Dear, dear. And here I thought I was going out of my way to be so cooperative," she added, raising her eyebrow very slightly on the last word.
