Black_Rain Queer Question What is the origin of the derogatory term "dyke?" Answer: I got this one! Dyke - A lesbian. The term derives from the nineteenth-century slang word dike, which referred to male clothing, and when it was first used to refer to women, it carried a derogatory connotation of masculine appearance or behavior.

A morphodite??? That's from "To Kill a Mockingbird". This is what happens. Scout had made a snowman when Scout misheard Miss Maudie, who would actually have said the word hermaphrodite. Technically, a hermaphrodite is an animal or plant that has both female and male reproductive organs. Of course, Scout's snowman is not really a hermaphrodite, but it does have both male and female characteristics. Does that help?

I love when people are right. I also would have accepted any reference to Boudicca ... blaugh
