". . . There's no way it was the Mogalls," Renault replied, after a moment of thought. "This presence left before all the Mogalls were destroyed. I know, because I was able to move after it left, and I killed an Arch Mogall myself. But besides that, I spent a few hundred years around Nergal. His dark aura was powerful, yes, but compared to this person, he was as I would be to St. Elimine. . ."

"Let's hope not..." Sue shook her head. "Us in Elibe aren't used to fighting mosters. Those in Tellius and Magvel surely understand... but we've always had human or... mostly human enemies. What strange events are before us..."

(WHOO! I have to read the locked threads to understand why the castle is over run! But I'm just going to say that I got here with everyone else. Why? Because I was in the castle wearing Christmas-colored clothes and no weapon.)

Ashnard, who had went to the FEF Castle's armory before they left, now wore the plate armor of a general. He also grabbed a Silver Blade and a Silver Lance. Now armed for battle, the mad king was anxious to regain the castle.

"I don't really care where they're from," he said,"but I want them obliterated off the face of this world."

Tristai
[I'm gonna use magic B support power and say Tristai came in with Victoria. Because it seems unbelievable to me at this point that she would be able to come through the blizzard.]

"I was under the assumption that it was the Mogalls creating the dark sense... I've fought plenty of those before, and it really jars you to get hit with their gaze." While she had gone unnoticed, Tristai had come in soon after Victoria, common sense regulating that she needed to go somewhere indoors. She felt horrid for her poor horse, but it couldn't be helped. She supposed the poor thing was warmer now, at least.

"It's like someone ripped open the door to the Tower of Valni and all the critters are running amok through FEF Castle."

{Magical B support power FTW? Hey... I never knew what your affinity was. Hm... I guess mine can be light.}

"Tristai, thank Elmine you're in one piece." Victoria sighed with relief that the mercanary made it with surprisingly minor injuries. Everyone here seemed so beaten down, after all. "Father Renault, do you believe the dark presence is the same one who cast the storm forward, or is it someone different? Surely, it wasn't the monsters. I could sense their darkness was far less than whomever their master was."

"Well, at the time, I'm relatively certain the one who called this storm was occupied. I can hardly imagine what else would have sent a flash freeze through the castle, after all. Soren and I were inside and barely managed to escape in time." The bishop frowned, furrowing his brow for a moment. "What I don't understand is what reason this person would have to show up, now. Perhaps he got wind of the fact that this sage was attacking us and decided to use the opening?"

"If that is true, then it looks like we have a very strong adversary on our hands."

"That sounds like a plausible theory. It also means that we're dealing with two people..." Victoria considered it carefully. "It also means that they're not working together, as they both seemed to be acting on their own."

[Tris' affinity is Wind. >>; ]
"Eh, I'll always be fine when I don't have to worry about you stopping in the middle of a battlefield to use a mend staff on an ant that was trampled, Victoria."

She shook her head.
"I don't know anything about this Nergal. I've heard bits and pieces of something going on around last Halloween, but I wasn't around for that either. I do know quite a bit about Formortiis, the Demon King, however."

She crossed her arms in front of her.

"You, Nomad, I would say you'll be fine against these enemies... but you'd be better off taking your bow against anything but the Mogalls, unless you're sure you're fast enough to dodge their attacks."

"I noticed that. Most of the time, it was just me and my killing edge that was doing the work." Sue nodded towards the Ranger, a fellow horseback rider with similar weapons. "It's a good suggestion. However, I'm keeping my Myulgre with me, just in case I need it, like last time."

She recalled when the S-Rank bow lead to victory against Granny-N, how easy it seemed compared to now.

"Me, use my staff on an insect? Surely, I wouldn't go that far!" Victoria almost seemed insulted, but then she smirked for just a moment, and got serious agian. "These monsters, Tristai, are said to be the servants of Formortiis... only to come around in his time of ressurection. I pray that's not near..."

The ranger shook her head.
"When running around other places besides Valni and the Ruins, then yes. But we aren't in Magvel, so there isn't really much to place a theory on. The fact that these monsters are even showing up here is more than enough to say something bad is going down. There's three different plausible explanations: Formortiis, however there would need to be someone around to resurrect him and there are no sacred stones in these parts; a portal to either of the places I mentioned; or, they're just simply being summoned up and created by the mysterious being mentioned by Father Renault."
PostPosted: Fri Dec 19, 2008 9:28 am

"Being summoned is the one with the greatest chances." Victoria said, now putting even more thought into it. "After all, dark magic is capable of so much more. I just don't know... or like what this other's motives may be."

"So then, our enemies are two separate forces, each with a different objective in mind. One of them might just be confused, while the other has a wicked heart." Sue took all the facts in, analyzing them carefully. "But I don't think we've seen enough of either one of them to know how to defeat them. And... something has been bugging me. The "King", that's what I'll call him... he seems to think that Nino was his wife or something. What does this mean?"

"Maybe Nino reminded him of someone he loved back then."

The Scripts of Strategy

PostPosted: Fri Dec 19, 2008 9:32 am

Soren abruptly slammed the shutters together and threw himself against it, his back to the wall, his breath heavy and his vision a bit distorted. The mage had to blink delirium away. He exhumed a soft breath, a breath turned cold from the assault of wind and hail. Snow and ice alike were stuck in his dark unstyled hair.

The mage spent a few moments recollecting himself. Whatever had compelled him to such an act of madness, he was not certain, but the thought finally occurred to him that Sue had attempted to address them a few moments ago. Soren glanced the room. He stared vacantly at Anna, then at the room's features, seeing no one else there.

"...I'm sorry, Anna," said Soren as he pushed himself away from the wall. His joints felt frozen. "...Are we having a strategy conference?" His voice was calm and the kindliness which once possessed it had subsided, returning Soren to his usual serious demeanor. Voices were drifting down the hallway.

"Blast it all. We must have missed a few important details already. Sorry we couldn't get a casual conversation — let's meet up with the others." The mage glided away from the door, the snow and ice in his hair neglecting to melt. He pulled the door open and slipped into the hallway with a glance back at Anna.
