Even with the man kneeling down in front of him KaRina still had to look up a little to see into his eyes. She had very strong senses about people and she was very rarely wrong. This man had kind eyes and she couldn’t help but find herself at ease around him. Her ears perked up a little as he spoke his voice giving her a sense of security. “My name is KaRina.” She spoke this time her voice a little louder due to her relaxing, a faint smile moving across her pink painted lips. “I am here in search of my brothers. They where taken some months ago and I must find them before anything happens to them. I promised my mother I would protect them and I couldn’t live with myself if I failed my promise.” Her eyes moved back to the elf and the other woman with them before returning back to Zywynran. She hopped they would let her tag along. She may have been small but like her people she was very cunning and sly so she just might be able to help.

Zywynran was pleased to see the girl relax a little. Certainly she had no need to be afraid of him. He listened to her reason and nodded. "That is a very serious promise, but your mother would not wish for you to be harmed in the process. This is no place for a child, KaRina. You cannot protect your brothers if you come to harm while searching for them." It was best to send the girl home, the bard thought. It seemed such a dangerous choice, but surely less so than bringing her along. What if they could not protect her? Zywynran was not prepared to have this young girl's blood on his head. "If there is anything to be done for those missing people and your brothers, it will be. But you should be at home, hoping for their return and ready to welcome them. Not out here risking your own safety." Perhaps he should at least walk with her to the mouth of the cave. It still bothered Zywynran to send the child alone. Why was she even alone to begin with?

"Is there truly no one accompanying you?"

KaRina’s smile faded with Zywynran’s words. True she could not do much for them if she was injured in the process but at the same time she couldn’t live with herself knowing she could have done something. Even a small something would help to bring them home safely was the reason she wondered in search. At home she did not fell like she belonged. Though her adopted father had never done anything to harm her she felt that without her brothers they had nothing in common. She was just the child his wife had before they got married. “The spirit of my people are with me and will protect me. You should not judge someone by how they appear. Allow me to travel with you or not, it’s all the same to me I will just continue alone.” She was firm in her voice determined not to be sent home. Giving Zywynran a small curtsy and a faint smile for a good bye she walked past him heading deeper into the cave.

The Dwarf watched the girl with a measure of pride. "Aie. Strong lass . . . where are me manners? Klangdon Ballhammer . . .at your service. Call me Klang."

Zywynran sighed and rose to his feet. He turned to place a hand on the girl's shoulder before she could get too far away. Was it something in the air of Dargon that made females so irritable? He would have to remember to only flirt with the men. "Wait, child. You take offense where none was given. In what way have I judged you? I have only suggested that it would be safer if you returned home. You refuse that option and assume of your own accord that I would simply disallow you what added safety there might at least be in our larger number. It would seem you have gravely misjudged me only moments after your own accusation." The half elf smiled at the girl. "But I am not easily offended, so please. Do not be quite so quick to go off on your own." Was the girl trying to prove something with this behavior? She seemed to have predetermined what he might say and replied to what he had not spoken. As talkative a person as Zywynran already was, he certainly did not need the assistance of someone putting words in his mouth.

KaRina gave the dwarf a warm smile followed by a curtsy. “It is nice to meet you Klang.” When she heard Zywynran speak again she looked down at her shoulder feeling his hand. Her right ear pulled back to hear him more clearly followed by her whole body. Facing him again she looked up at with a warm smile still on her lips. “You did not speak any judgment, however it still remains in your tone. You assume that I am a child and therefore can not take care of myself. That, because I am so small these things are far too dangerous for me.” She thought for a moment listening to his words. There was some truth in it; she did jump beyond the line. She just did not like being reminded that she was just a child, that she did have her limitations and she couldn't do this on her own. Everyone treated her like a doll that would brake any minute if she wasn’t handled with care. “I apologize if I have offended you. You speak of as if I would be safer at home when I feel that is in incorrect. There have been more and more disappearances by the day where I live. I think it wise to look who ever is behind this in the face, take things to them if it were. Take mystery that they are instead of being stolen in the night from behind by what is unseen.”

((O.O Wow. I'm gone for one day, and it moves. What the-- Okay. I'm not going to complain.))

Raelise raised a slim finger to tap her lip. "Mae govannen," she said absently to the dwarf, though her eyes remained on the child. She certainly seemed sure of herself, yet she was just a little slip of a thing; from where did such confidence arise? It had to come from somewhere, especially considering the very real dangers shel had just described. And... that talking spider that Klang had mentioned sounded... ominous. If the girl had any useful talents... Well, this thing had taken down and entire team of dwarves; their little group was not in a position to refuse help. "Alright," Raelise began quietly, her eyes studying the small face intently, "How exactly do you take care of yourself in the face of such dangers?"

KaRina looked back at the woman when she heard her speaking. She had been standing there without saying a word and KaRina was afraid she didn’t speak. She did not like to speak about herself so she gave a quick answer hopping the subject would be dropped. “I observe and find the best strategy to over come the situation. Please do not worry about details only that I will do everything I can to be of help.” The truth was she was lived in the woods with her mother until she was the age of five. She had to learn to be very cunning in order to avoid being eaten by anything that would see her as a tasty snack. Her mother trained her to observe her surroundings and be aware of what was going on all around her. She picked up a few talents in her short years and knew when and where to use them.

Raelise raised a slim eyebrow. If it was simply a matter of strategizing, she was more than capable of taking care of things. Hope seemed competent as well. Having an extra mind to work on the puzzle would certainly be helpful, but it did not outweigh the hassle of dragging a child around. All the same... "Can you see in the dark?" she asked, her eyes still locked on the girl's.

KaRina could tell this woman was not all that fond of her. Maybe she just didn’t like children. “I can not see in the dark that well but I can make out shapes enough to figure out where I am going. My sense of smell and my hearing is extremely acute so they more than make up for my inability to see in the dark.” Though she was a kitsune and related to the fox she didn’t have their vision but her hearing was sensitive to even the bugs that crawled along the walls of the caves.

Raelise thought about this for a few seconds. "Very well," she said finally, "If you would be willing to guide Hope during the periods when using the lantern is not an option, I have no qualms with you joining us." Turning back to the dwarf, she asked, "What was that you were saying about a talking spider?"

With the decision about the girl being made, though Zywynran still feared it was the wrong decision to make, he returned to watching the paths. In truth, there was no other choice. He would not let the girl go forward on her own. The half elf was much glad Raelise had found use for her or he imagined they would have butt heads over that. No one should wander into such a dangerous situation alone, child or no. Was adventuring always like this? He began to wonder why his father had enjoyed it. Perhaps he had not... it could have been the only work he was any good at. Zywynran wished he knew, but discarded the thought. There was no one to ask; he would simply have to imagine. That had served him well thusfar.

The dwarf, growing tired of all the talk, picked up his axe and started down the hall on his own, mumbling about the Children of Kar'luth.

Confused and a little irritated by the dwarf's apparent refusal to answer her question, Raelise followed. "What was it that captured you?" she asked again. Normally she wouldn't have bothered; she certainly didn't like chattering away like some people she could mention. It seemed obvious, however, that the answer to this question was an important one. "A talking spider?"

Klang laughed. "Ai, talkin' spider. Me thinkin' the humans call it a Bebilith."

He turned back to the group. "Well, you gon' help me take it down? I've got me clan to avenge!"
