so i finally figured out a way to let the rabbits out durring the day! put them on to of the cage (duh)! its a solid wood top and its always in the shade. they cant go far but its lets them get out of their cage and sniff around for a few mins.

and even better! today both of them let me CARRY them accross the yard to the garden! im soooo excited! its a major breek thru, i think, in our relatiponships. i think the main problem with picking them up was i never just really went for it, and now i do and they are a lot better. and now, they dont even flail when i put them down! -spazzes-

That's awesome! With small animals, you really just need to be calm and assertive. If they notice that you're nervous, they will be too. That's why it works when you just go for it. I'm so glad they're coming around! Rabbits are fun when they're friendly.

I would say, small amounts due to sugar. I know apple and such are ok.

I recently adopted a rabbit who was mainly kept in a hutch all day because the previous owner couldn't give him everything he needed because of school.
His name is Buster, he's a Pointed Himalayan Lionhead. He's one of the most BEAUTIFUL rabbits I have ever had. :]

The problem I have is, when I try to get him out of the cage or try to pet him, he goes into a corner. My mom just says he's scared and needs to get used to being around me. [I've only had him for a day.]
I've had previous rabbits and they've all been really friendly and outgoing and I bonded with them early. So, I feel really guilty for some odd reason because he won't let me touch him in the cage.

I'm really worried he won't like me, is there any tips to get him to trust me and help him relax a bit in his new home?

He'll let me pick him up and pet him when he's out of his cage, but when I try to pick him up he gets fidgety and kicks a bit when he goes back in.

Just give him time. My himalayan Merlin always went to the back corner of the cage when I went to pick him up. I had him from the time he was 6 weeks old until he was 8 years old. Some get friendly some just prefer to stay in the cage, but once out are ok.

If he gets fleas what is most recommended?
My friend says the spray and the dust ones work, but then a lot say to use revolution.

I've got some special flea spray that I bought from the pet store specifically for small animals. I wouldn't use it unless absolutely needed, it isn't exactly fun for the bunnies. Mine requires them to be sprayed until slightly damp and then you have to wait for it to dry before you let them do anything. I wish I could have found some powder instead, but my lil' baby Rouge had too many fleas when we found her outside 2 weeks after her previous owners let her go. They had to get taken care of.

It may just take some time for the little guy to come around. Lots of treats and love help. When I got my Bandit he spent the first few weeks turning me into a chew toy whenever I held him. I had horrible bite sized bruises all over my arms for a while. Then all of a sudden he stopped doing that and gives me kisses all the time. He still chews clothes and he doesn't always realize there is skin under the clothes so sometimes I still accidentally get nipped.

Rouge was kind of the same way. Anytime I got near her the first few days she growled and thumped at me. She even charged my legs a couple of times before she realized I feed her and give her treats.

I sprayed him and tried to dry him, but he hopped back in his cage before he was dry enough. Plus I couldn't get under him or his feet yet.
Yeah, he's pretty fussy right now and we've been giving him treats and praising him a lot. He doesn't bite [but he nibbles a little], he just likes to be aloof and in his cage.

I was patting him and checking his fur to make sure he was clean, and BAM. I saw the fleas. D:
He's gonna be mainly kept in the garage and backyard that's why I went out and bought some immediately so I'll always have it on hand now.

I never had flea issues with my rabbits, but the show rabbits got monthly baths anyway. We just used baby shampoo.

I've been giving him fresh food all day as treats and finally he's not backing into the cage when I pet him. XD
And thanks~
