"Feh!" Two ships now showed up on his small ships radar. The one that had begun to follow them shortly after leaving the earth and the one he had picked up upon entering this space. With luck, the alien ship heading this way would see the large ship trying to pick up Truinthil's small ship as the bigger threat and attack it. He grinned in waiting as a large white hole appeared in space in front of his ship. Quite rapidly a ship of similar size to the one trying to capture Truinthil burst from that hyper-space hole.

Almost immidiately the alien ship would lock every one of its weapons upon the other large vessel. Any attempt of the alien vessel hailing the other one would end in vain seeing as how languages would differ entirely, but Truinthil was sure that the message would be something like, 'Leave this space now or be fired upon.' Truinthil began cackling. He was likely to soon be caught up in the middle of a rather vicious space battle, and all he could think of was compossing and conducting music.

Several hundred forward under and higher arc batteries swivelled to face their target and let loose their maelstrom of beamy annihilation. Rocket trails skewed the vast black void with lines of orange as they headed towards the alien vessel, the sheer masss of weaponry directed at the thing capable of bombarding most small worlds to ruin. Such power was nearly a reflex, the trained gunnery crews and the instinct to fight trained into the very bolts and rivots of the ship itself.

Of course, the main ships shields would hold off against most menial attacks, even as the docking bays opened up to let loose hordes of fighters much as if a bag of flies had been tossed upon a dead body.

The alien ship sat motionless as the bombardment struck it's shielding only to fizzle out harmlessly. The shields surrounding the ship would shimmer for a moment then become invisible once more. For a short moment, nothing would happen, even as all the small ships raced towards it. If the ship that had followed Truinthil from earth had any ability to pick up on massing energy, it would become apparant to that crew that something big was about to happen. And sure enough, it did, mere seconds before the small ships would be in range to attack with any strength. A huge light blue wave, almost white even, was shot forth from the alien ship, wide enough and tall enough to encompass everything in front of it. This wave, however, was not for destruction, but for disarming. An EMP wave, powerful enough to perhaps even penetrate the other large vessels shielding. Truinthil's craft would be easily rendered useless.

Annoyingly, the unexpected EMP beam would tear through the otuer layer shielding and 'smash' into the inner layers. There it would falter for a moment before pushing through, to reign over the vast systems in a large chunk of the imposing ship. The unprotected systems were left marred by the attack, a large forward arc section of the weapons array as well as loading docks put out of commission for a time.

The captain blinked, suddenly aroused from his lethargic state even as his fingers danced over the arm of his chair.

A gentle thrum would course through the void of space as the ship began to turn, as if shying away to reveal it's left side. The slight turn revealed more of the weapon positions that littered the ship, and they opened up with their barrage. Even as it did so the mass generators located near the rear of the ship spurred to life, the main laser arrays locking onto the alien vessel. It was merely a moment before they sprang to life, six seperate beams of orange light tearing forth fromt heir emitters towards the alien ship.

The same beams designed for one to reduce the average shielded capital ship to dust.

[Strolling through some small village in the middle of nowhere.]

Humming a slow and almost mournful tune, a woman dressed all in black made her way through the small village at a leisurely pace. Her vibrant blue eyes swaying from side to side as if inspecting the small hovel these people called a town. Ultimately, however, this place did not interest her. Not at all. "They once loved one another." She sang outloud, but softly and to herself. "But now they have grown apart. She lives the life of success while he still mourns the loss he has suffered. Forever he hurts and forever she strives. 'Maybe twas never meant to be' he howls to the sky. No answer does he recieve. And so, years later, impoverished and alone, he passes away into the great beyond, never to have loved again."

The verses werent exactly structured the way most people would expect in these days, but that was perfectly alright. It was more of a ballad. A song meant to tell a story. That particular one of a tragedy. The woman liked it.

Laughing lightly to herself after having finished the song she spoke softly, again for only her to hear just as before with the song. "Oh, but what to do when I arrive? Who to toy with. Who to dismiss. Oh, but what to do?"

Once more the alien ship stayed its course to allow the weapons to collide with it's shielding. There was a much more profound effect this time, but even as the weapons grinded through the shielding to hit the actual ship, the damage was minimal. Several holes here and there marred the alien ships hull, but no major damage occured as the shields faultered, shimmered, then once again regained their integrity and became invisible once more. Any openings were, within a matter of seconds, sealed off from the vacuum of space and small repair droids already at work.

A second EMP burst lashed out from the alien vessel, but this time accompanied by white bursts of plasma that trailed behind the EMP by only a few hundred yards. If the EMP produced the same effect, most shielding on the enemy vessel would be temporarily down when the plasma struck the ships hull.

Amidst it all, Truinthil sat tapping his foot, very irritated. No matter who won this battle, he wasnt getting away from this region of space. His only option was to allow his capture and work on eventually escaping, if possible. He could only hope that the alien vessel won and would show mercy to him and his passenger.

[Still in said small village.]

Having walked through the entirety of the village without being even spoken to, the woman grinned and tilted her head downwards and closed her eyes. A foul wind arose suddenly, reeking of death and rotting flesh. A cloud would pass in front of the sun, slightly darkening the land.

*Imagine if you will a movie-like scene where the camera pans away from the woman just before there is the sound of screaming, flesh tearing and bones breaking. Buildings collapsing and ground being torn asunder. In a full circle, imagine the camera pans and when it comes back to the village, there are several small fires amongst the homes and the streets littered with bodies, blood, and various broken pieces of woodwork.*

Taking a deep breath the woman smiles broadly and begins walking away. "That was a good exercise."

[In the same small village]

A man began walking down the destroyed and defiled street, longsword slung over his shoulder. He didn't even look at one of the burnings buildings or any of the corpses lying in the street

"Well, looks like I've been beaten to it. Heh..."

He continued walking, a strong wind going against him, causing his long red leather coat to flow, and his hair to be blown backward. He sheathed the sword on his back once he made his way to the only living woman left in the village.

"I suppose you're the one to blame for this?"

The woman had only just began walking away when a man spoke behind her. "I didnt leave someone alive did I? No...I think not. You're different I can tell. Are you here to kill me for what I've done here? If so that's the fastest response I've seen from 'that' guild."

The guild she was referencing was not the one she was headed to, the Black Company, but another that often hunted her kind. This man didnt feel like one of those people, but she would have to play it safe until she knew for sure. "So what is it that you want?"

"Kill you? What ever gave you that idea? Let me guess...the weapon on my back, right? Hmph...my giant sword's always scaring away the ladies."

He smirked a little and unsheathed it again. It was adorned with what looked like batwings. Giving it a few spins and air slashes, he held it out at full arm's reach, pointing at this woman.

"But if someone's after you...there's bound to be a reward. And I do so long to take another life, as you've just beaten me to this entire village"

"Scaring the ladies? I think your manner in and of itself is what scares them away." Turning to face him, the woman smirked a bit. Her ice-like eyes held steady as she glared at him. There was a gruesome light to those eyes. "And as for a bounty? Oh hoh hoh...If only you knew who I was and where I was wanted. I doubt you'd be able to follow the clues to get that bounty. So do you plan to try and kill me with that sword of yours?"

The man smirked once again, lowering his blade momentarily and shrugging.

"We'll see how it goes. There's more than one way to skin a cat. As for knowing who it was who is after you, I'm sure they'll be here soon enough to claim your corpse. I however would prefer not to kill an unarmed opponent. So, if you please..."

He pointed the sword back at her, appearing to aim at her neck.

Laughing suddenly at his comment about weaponry, the woman bent over, slapping her right hand against her knee. "Oh...You are truly a hilarious one. Tearing you to ribbons shall be fun. Come." She still was working on getting her laughter in control, but when she told him to come at her, she meant it in all seriousness. He would find her to be one tough cat to skin.

"As you wish..."

With this, the man lept at her, but something odd happened as he did so. He seemed to have split in two. One copy of himself jumped in the air and began to slash furiously, whereas the other stayed on the ground and did the same.
