Rayne picked up on the lie, she nodded slightly. She turned to Janie and held out her hand. "Why, hi there! I'm your auntie's friend! Call me Rayne." She smiled brightly. "You're uncle Zal is just a little sleepy, he'll be fine!"

Janie trembled but stuck out her hand and shook Rayne's. "Hi..."
Zalexis flailed on the ground in his sleep. Ilisia bent down and tried to calm him. She was out of magic, so she could only use her physical self. "Come on, Zal, you'll be fine. Shhhhh..."
Janie faced Toraka and asked rudely, "Who are you?"
Ilisia said, "She's Toraka, another friend of mine. And he's Joirden."

Torka laughed at the child's rudeness. 'Still snappy I see.' "Hey Janie," she siad brightly. Joirden nodded his head in the back as he cleaned blood off his weapons and completely ignored her. Toraka glared. "Ignore him, he's just being rude because we're in a bit of trouble." 'Ya think he could at least say hi or something.'

Rayne cleaned her scythe before Janie could turn and see the blood. She smiled brightly. "There's no need to be nervous."

Ilisia smiled at Janie and whispered to her, "Did you know that you have amazing powers like healing people? I'll show you how to use it."
Janie whimpered and shook her head. "I'm fine being me... I don't want to learn magic. It's scary when the town mage makes fireworks. I don't like magic."
Ilisia sighed but said, "Magic can help people. Your Uncle Zal and I can use magic. I can heal people and protect them. Not all magic is bad."
Janie frowned and whispered, "But he used magic to hurt me..."
Ilisia hugged the little girl and said, "I'll heal you. I promise. I'm out of magic right now, but I will."

Rayne grimaced a bit. She didn't quite know what to say. Her last experience using magic had set her teacher's robe on fire and he'd run through the town screaming like a little girl. Rayne smirked, trying hard not to burst out laughing.

Ilisia saw Rayne smirk and glowered. She smiled apologetically at Toraka and said, "Every magic has its own special power. Yours probably isn't healing, so that's all."
Ilisia turned to Janie and whispered, "You'll be okay. You're special. Once you learn your magic, there won't be anything you can't do." Ilisia decided that she could try her luck with the little power she had regained and said, "Give me your hand." Janie held out her hand, but warily. Ilisia channeled her magic (that remained) into Janie and said, "You know what to do."
Janie shivered for a moment and her face pinched painfully, but after a moment relaxed and sighed. "Thank you."
Ilisia laughed and said, "It was all your doing. I gave you the power, but you healed yourself."

Rayne took a step back from Ilisia's glare. "Woof."
She watched the transfer and smiled.

Ilisia wanted to know what had made Rayne smile. She had the feeling it had to do with badly used magic, but she wasn't sure. She just about to drop her shield to read Rayne's thoughts, but remembered that Rayne was an elf; someone's whose mind was unreadable to a Half-Elf. She sighed and stared at Rayne, willing her to tell her the tale of the magic.
Janie became bored with the quite, so she decided to poke Zalexis, who was still unconscious on the ground. Zalexis woke and grabbed the little girl. "Who are you?"
Ilisia realized that Zalexis was awake and whispered, "May I speak with you for a second, Zal?"
Zalexis let go of the girl and followed Ilisia to a safe distance. "Who is she?"
Ilisia sighed. "Janie."
"Who? ... Wait, Malria. our daughter?!"
"No. Janie. She thinks we're siblings. Her grandmother's sister's children."
"Illie, you know that this is dangerous. Why did you summon her?"
"To destroy her."
Zalexis shook his head. "This will end badly, mark my words. She doesn't know enough about her past. You have to tell Janie."
"What other choice is there? I can't let her know that we're her parents! It's better that she doesn't know her true power."
"Fine, but this can't end well, Illie. You know that as well as I."

I stared at the young girl as her parents talked. I thought about how she must feel. Wanting to know who she was and why none of her family looked like her. She reminded me of my little sister. Tears came to my eyes as I thought about how I'd had to lie to her about who I was. 'Kira..."

Ilisia nodded and said, "Don't worry. I know."
Zalexis sighed and headed back over to Janie, Rayne and Toraka. He looked at Janie and smiled. Ilisia walked back and knelt to be at Janie's level. "Are you ready to help me and my friends."
The little girl quivered for a moment but nodded. "I'll do it, Auntie Illie."

Toraka smiled "Excellent than we're ready to defeat that b***h... uh I mean horrible lady." She winced and felt like slapping herself in the face. How could she forget and cuss around a little girl?

Rayne smirked as Toraka corrected herself. "Woof! So what exactly are we facing here? I know the lady's a leader, but I haven't exactly gotten a rundown of what abilities she has." She twirled the scythe and watched as the blade glinted in the light. "I need to get this thing sharpened..."
