i hate erik bashers. seriously.

people that bash him because he's deformed and a tad punjab-happy just plain piss me off.

Er... What Erik bashers?

Seriously. I have never met an Erik basher. (Ignoring the people who aren't POTO ph/fans.) By far and large, anyone who likes POTO likes Erik. Unless you're talking about people like me, who think he's an ugly murderous psychopath but like him anyway?

Quote:
...hated how raoul was so bossy and completely arsehole-ish.

Because Erik is never bossy, nosiree. *snrk* If you don't like bossy and arsehole-ish, you're going to be surprised with L!Erik.

Quote:
But it all came back when he strode onto the stage, announced his patronage [or whatever] but I think the scene when my flame of hate burned brightest was when he bossed Christine in her dressing room, and when he told her that the opera ghost didn't exist.

Er... he didn't tell her the opera ghost didn't exist. (Though he would be right if he did.) They didn't discuss the opera ghost, but the Angel of Music... And when Christine says that she was visited by him (which she is wrong about) Raoul says, "There's no doubt of it."
And I don't think him asking her to dinner could even be considered bossing her around because she didn't protest after he said he wouldn't keep her out late, not until after he had already left.
... I thought he was quite nice about announcing his patronage, especially when he apologized for interrupting rehearsal.

Quote:
In essence he was right though. There was no "ghost". It's clearer in the book, I believe he says he believe's someone is fooling with her emotions and he is correct. Deny it as you will he IS right.

Yeah, when he meets Christine in Perros (which, in Leroux, takes place before she finds out about Erik). She tells Raoul about her Angel of Music and he tells her that it's a man playing a joke on her or worse, trying to manipulate her. She gets all mad at him then, but of course it later turns out that Raoul was dead-on.

I love how people tend to ignore that little detail

I'd choose the book one.

One of my friends noticed I had the book and picked it up and said 'So, when did they make a book off of this?'

Oooonly before everything Phantom. It was the only reason Phantom was brought up.

And I'd have to say with the movie thing - I'd admit, I was originally like 'omg, movie phantom is soooohawt!!11!!' But now, it's like, 'That's great, but he's not supposed to be.' -after reading the book.- So now the movie thing irriatates me.

And the Raoul thing. I'm labeling them all 'things', how intelligent. gonk

I think we can all agree that 04 Phantom is indeed "hawt" (hate that word) but he is not a good Erik.

Am I right?

I fear I must disagree, and hope I do not get flamed into oblivion.

I believe Gerard Butler was a good Erik, deformities aside.

He had such a raw voice and although more emotional, does well in portraying pain, and if one thinks about it, his portrayal makes sense if thought of about his life.

But I am not going to rant now, merely leave a note.

I hate phans who rag on 2004 Erik just because he has little deformity and a so-called, 'non-existant' singing voice. *fluffs off*

I did like his voice, dispite what people say. I just didn't like the deformity... sweatdrop I have too many opinions, I liked GErik...but I didn't.

Anyone understand what I'm getting at, or am I just confusing everyone?

I have this thing with actors who portray their own raw emotions into the character - and I love it. Gerry did that wonderfully in Phantom, because -I read this somewhere ..- he was talking to someone and actually started crying -or something- when talking of the Phantom's loneliness, which shows a dedicated actor.

And his voice is wonderful for the Phantom, considering he had started off not being much of a singer at all. <33 I'm not saying I OMGHATEHIM, I adore Gerik.

@.@;

My friend today just did the book thing. Dx She's so sensitive, I love her to death, but I was just kinda' like 'Ooooohthere'salwaysbeenabook.' x:

I think Gerik was ok considering he had never really done much singing before. I think there were parts where he was more talking-singing than actually singing...

or maybe i'm just crazy? sweatdrop

his acting was great though!

Like when he was singing Masquerade at the very end. o_o Homigod, his face made me want to cry. I think I did. Once or twice in there. That whole last part gives me goosebumps just typing about it. Dx!

Alright, my friend said something the other day that made me totally LOATH her but somehow she is still my friend. >_>
She told me that she had be listening to the original soundtrack, finally, and she said that she absolutely HATED Michael Crawford. I know everyone has their favorite Phantom prefrences but how can you HATE Michael Crawford??

You understand me! I have heard of few who thought of Geri this way! To go off CR, The crying, totally realistic!
