Started off on trombone, but switched to Trumpet because my heart was set on it. Come freshman year I realized my lips would get me farther if I was on Horn so I switched and my chair placement skyrocketed and I got first chair by the end of the year :3 Horn is my place in band.

I was brought in to chose an instrument and it was between clarinet and a flute, back in 5th grade. I saw that i honestly hated flute, but loved the sound. So I chose a clarinet, which my mom already had the instrument so we didn't have to rent one. I've fallen in love with playing the clarinet it's amazing, and sometimes difficult, but it always is a pleasure to play. I've taken in an interest in the baritone lately after a friend let me try it, and she showed me how to play a scale. I loved it! even though my lips were tingling afterward!

I think that once you've seen an instrument you think is cool, that's the one you choose. xD At least for me it was like that. x3 I was a clarinet because I was all like "holy jesus! That looks super epic!", but I switched to sax in 8th grade. We definately made a connection. smile And as I've come to notice, people with the same kind of instrument share a certain kind of connection as well smile

Well, first,I wanted Sax but I thought it'd be complicated with the buttons, then I saw that there was trumpet, but I thought it'd be hard to memorize the notes so I didn't like that one. Finally,it lead me with violin.I thought,it doesn't look hard, plus the girl I like was doing it too.I ended up doing it,the girl quit but I made friends with her cousin,Isaias.I don't regret taking violin, just regretting I didn't try focusing a little more on her instead of violin.

I never wanted to play flute, really. I thought it was a girl, awful instrument. But, as I watched people try out for it and fail miserably I wanted to show them up. So I tried it and just took it, because I couldn't seem to get any noise out of the other instruments. I also do part-time sax because all of my friends do/have played it at one time. And I wanted to learn how to play with them. (Score one for peer pressure?) Also, I started listening to Jazz and Kenny G. So I wanted to learn to be... That epic.

poxto When I was little, like six years old, Mama let me listen to her Kenny G. tapes, back when tapes were starting to be old. I fell in love with Kenny G's music, and I decided to play alto saxophone come fifth grade because of him. I even saw a real christmas concert of him! Yay Kenny! You lucky joker! I LOVE Kenny G. He's part of the reason I picked up sax as my second instrument.

I started on clarinet in fourth grade, then I switched to the love of my life, my bass clarinet, in fifth grade because my director needed someone to play it, now I'm one of the best in the district! :] In eighth grade, I joined marching band, and since my school doesn't use bass clarinet in marching band, I started on tsax. Another amazing decision. I played it in jazz band that year, and marching band for the next two years. Two summers ago, I took a few lessons for baritone, and this year I joined another band, and I play baritone in that. I love the sound, it's so beautiful and it fills up a room. I switched to bass drum this year in marching band as well, learning that was an adventure. xD I've never really chose my instruments, I just kinda switched to them. The only one I've really chosen to learn was tsax. razz

I went into band with the flute for one reason only: The Piccolo. I always thought that the flute was for old English people with parakeets... But after I got into it, I realized that the flute was an awesome instrument! Now I play the flute and the piccolo. They're both awesome.

our school makes the kids do a test if your elective was band. the test has a percussion part of it and a winds part. after the quiz we pick from a varity of instuments. i picked drums, then trombone, and lastly french horn(in order of the ones i wanted to play). i couldnt do drums because i missed one question on the percussion part of the quiz scream , i couldnt play trombone because my band teacher said my arms were to short cry , then i got french horn beacuse he said it was perfect for me.i didnt really care what my last choice was so i pick french horn crying crying crying crying ....... why god. And french horn is so hard!!!!!!

Fūma Kotarō and Tsuruhime…
at my school, we all play recorders in 3rd grade. at the end of the year, we choose 3 instruments we want to play, and the band teacher down in the elementary school writes them down. he looks at the different grades and who plays what and chooses from there.
i had flute clarinet and trombone on my list. i for trombone~
@quiet anything wrong with a trigger trombone?
Bestest/craziest/strangest couple ever

We were all required to learn recorder in third grade with the option of real instruments the following years. I always tried to play my recorder by holding it to the side (like a flute). I had to wait five years and go through a violin and a trumpet to get to it, but I've been a flute - and piccolo - player for 16 years now ^_^

I've played the alto saxophone from my sixth grade to my senior year of high school. I have participated in beginner band, advanced band, then four years of high school marching band, four years of high school concert band, and about half a year of jazz band (since my BD decided my senior year to finally have a jazz band. stare ).
I chose my instrument because I was narrowed down to the clarinet and the alto saxophone. The reason why I chose the sax is simple:
It was the only one I could actually get a note out of. sweatdrop
Since then, I have been loyal only to the alto sax. I was encouraged by my drum major in junior year to try to play the tenor sax (?), but we had a really bad, crappy one, I didn't have enough breathe to play it, and I really, really hated being separated from my other sax members. That idea died very quickly.
I hope to get my instrument fixed so I can try out for my college's concert or jazz band if it has one. I haven't really checked it out to see if it does. I know it has a marching band, but I didn't want to participate since I don't care for football...and that band apparantly doesn't march as much as my old band...

I pretty much would learn and play what was needed. I taught myself. cool My favorite instruments are Bass Clarinet and Cello. I can play viola, cello, flute, clarinet/bass/contra alto, tenor and alto sax, and I was on the bass line Senior year because a lot of our drummers left. I was learning tuba, but when they sent it to get fixed I never finished my lessons. sweatdrop Thats me. mrgreen

Hello! I play the saxophone (been doing it for a year and a bit now) and I actuslly kind-of remember why I picked it. CUS IT'S AWESOME!!!!! LOL but actually it's because I just really loved the sound, and because after I put that thing together for the first time, I could pretty much play 5 songs and do half the scale. So I guess you could say that I was a natural XD
