Making a short salute, he straightened his bag. "Had calf, I'm fine," Deakin said walking aboard. "Bunks are where, Cap'?"

"3rd deck. If you need any supplies, better get them now. Ship leaves in 11 Hours."

"Yes sir," Deakin said making way to the lift. Reaching the lift, he looked at Garius and made a short nod.

Gairus looked at the man who had apparently been hired. "New guy, eh? Me too. I've only been here for a few hours." He said, stopping in the turbo lift and offering a hand.

Having stole his knife back from Blikk before he took an escapade in the town, he sat piecefully, picking the grime out of his nails with the tip. He swtiched his gaze from his nails, to Laura (for he never called her Cookie), then back to his nails again. He grinned a little to himself and took a deep breath, trying to relax himself before he had to teach newbies how to run Jag's ship.

Why did everybody else but us leave, Laura? I mean, besides the money. Didn't they like it here?

Deakin gladly took the hand and lifted himself up. "Thanks," he said. "Deakin Fraust," said Deakin, hand out for a shake.

" Apparently not. " Laura said, not bothering to face Kalin as she continued to clean the dishes. " Frankly, I'm surprised you stayed as well. You were the newest, so it only made sense you'd be more likely to go with the money, but there's more to it than all that. " Stopping for a moment, she stared at one of the plates after scrubbing it down, staring at a partial reflection coming off it from the light shine it now had.

" I've been with the Cap'n for a few years. I know him better than anyone else here. He's pretty laid back and easy going, so long as nothing's wrong with anything, as you've become aware in the short time you've been with us. " She put the plate aside and started on another one. " Some would think that makes him unambitious and holding back too much. However, I know he's always putting the best interests of the ship and crew before risky profits. That's a very admirable quality, in my opinion. " Pausing again, she examined the newly cleaned plate, lightly rubbing a wet cloth on part of the edge that seemed to not be clean enough.

" I stayed with him because I doubt I'd ever find a captain like him anywhere else. He's an honorable man with his own set of morals and ethics, and he's part of a team, not just some guy barking orders. I guess the others didn't see that in him like I did. " She put the plate aside with the other, now finished cleaning. She grabbed a few things and started putting them back up.

" What about you, Kalin? " Laura asked. " There's obviously more than pay that's keeping you here too. Otherwise you'd have gone with the rest. "

Kalin had let his head slump back and his eyes close. He was running the flat side of his knife along the palm of his hand, reflecting on his past.

He treated me like a person. I went to ships all over the Outer Rim and they laughed at me. A Corellian with my... history asking to ride their ship for free indefinately? Sometimes they'd even try to jab me with a stunstick or have their crew toss me out, forcibly. I came to Jag and he... felt familiar. He knew what I'd been through, I could tell in his mannerisms, they he carries himself and the way way his eyes sometimes betray his tough guy routine...

Kalin was now staring at the blade, head still slumped back, examining the thin yet sharp metal. Metal that could so easily end a life, just as much as save one. He slid a gentle thumb over a hand-made inscription in the side of the blade. Two names. Thats what his past had been reduced to. He paused for a moment, then continued talking.

Then I signed on and it was great. Even though it was rough and I was horrible at my job, Jag always helped me out. Both with shipwork and other problems... Plus, I made friends, something I hadn't done in a while. I met you. As lame as that may sound, the fact that you stayed, that you stayed loyal to Jag and ever-vigilant, it helped steel my resolve. You're a great friend, Laura, and I wouldn't leave you behind.

Kalin lifted his head up. His face was completely neutral, with a hint of what may have been regret or glum. He took his knife and pricked the tip of one of his fingers, rubbed a drop of blood down both sides of the knife, taking extra care over the inscription, and sheathed it. Then he realized how miserable he looked and did his best to put on a big smile. He got an 'A' for effort, but a 'C-' for fake smiles.

Stepping out of the lift Niomie took a few steps forwards and stopped at the end of the table. She looked from the woman doing dishes in the galley back to the man with the red beard still playing with his knife and waited for the two to finish their conversation, not wanting to be rude and interrupt.

Jag looked down at the two of them from the upperdeck.
"Rood, the Ruusan aint a motel. Take your Port Harpie and knock her up elsehwere. I already got your cargo loaded, so what the heck else do you want?"

Jag leaned on the Railing and seemed to openly ponder the offer.
"Twenty Percent." he countered. "That aught to cover for two passengers, no questions asked. Especially considering you're coming to me for offworld passage."
