The Kum 'Kumo with her dirty and sweaty attire finally reached the Forest of Sorrows. In her arms she cared a bundle of rope, which had just been used to bind her and Shin together in order to learn the Nawanuke technique. That training was not a good experience for any of the students that participated. Hanabira had ran away from the Kun 'Kumo crying and scared. Shin had gone chasing after the Yamanaka without a word to Tanu. Training with others was such a waste. Tanu always did better than them and always beat them. Tanu still had that wager running with Shinichi on defeating one of the students that had been training in the academy. How strong had the others become? Tanu wondered, but would not go seek them out quite yet. With her sore arms, she threw the bundle of rope to the ground. She would practice her taijutsu for a little longer, before moving onto the next event she had in mind. From the run in the bamboo forest to here in the forest of sorrows, Tanu's angry and savage mind had been given a chance to calm down. There were so many screaming thoughts that had run through her mind, that if anyone had been able to hear them, they would've submitted the Kun 'Kumo to a nut house to forgo inspection. To her advantage, Tanu was safe and her thoughts were locked up. There was nothing in her mind now save the will to train herself and then plot the demise of the weak. Raising her balled up fists to her chin, Tanu faced a large tree and began to throw her punches.

Her fist shot out quickly, but the hit on the tree was sloppy. The muscles in her arms were loose since they were feeling sore. Her body was light since it had been a while since she had eaten, but Tanu wouldn't let those minor things hold her back. If her muscles were sore, they should tighten up! That alone was a hard thing to demand. The training done with the Nawanuke technique had done nothing but tear and loosen those muscles up. Tanu paused before throwing out a second hit. She tightened up her fist so hard that she made her knuckles crack and her skin turn bleach white from the pressure of the bone pushing against the skin. The sound of bones cracking gave Tanu a good jolt to her system and state of mind. With her arm tightening up, Tanu lashed out at the trunk of the tree with her fist once again. The flesh against the wood made a dull noise, but the hit was not a dull one. The bark from the tree tore at Tanu's knuckles and ripped small slivers of skin back. The dirt from the tree easily fled into the open skin. Tanu didn't mind. The stinging pain of tearing flesh and grittiness from the dirt and wood made training all the worth while. Her fist came back to her body quickly as she pulled it back from the hit. The aim at the trunk of the tree had been slightly off, but Tanu did not blame her fatigue. Instead she blamed herself and demanded more accurate hits!

The feeling of actually hitting something solid felt good. Tanu felt a small rush of adrenaline as she thought of the fact that she had just hit something much more stronger than her. This tree could cause great devastation. Tilting her head upwards, Tanu admired its tall lumbering figure. If this tree were to fall it would take many with it. It would also take a very strong individual to bring this tree down. There were many limbs coming from the trunk of the tree and Tanu knew that those individual limbs could cause heavy damage as well just like her own two fists could. Tanu's eyes moved from the tree back to her own hands. She had defeated many foes with these two hands and she would continue to do so, but she did not wish for foes such as bullies or puny students from the academy. No, she wished for foes that were stronger than her and lumbered knowingly above her like this tree. With her other fist, Tanu struck the tree, chipping the bark and sending small pieces tumbling to the ground. Maybe she would skip her mischief making and go right towards defeating one of the names that Shinichi had given her. Tanu felt powerful and she wanted to prove it. If the intimidating man who took Dhan's life thought these names were above her, Tanu was more than willing to prove him wrong.

The hit she threw once again was off target. Tanu's eyes were focused on the center of the tree, but her hits kept moving to the side. The girl licked her dry and slightly cracked lips as she thought of the opponents that she would face. Karite had been on that list. He had been the one to climb up the side of the dorms, was he not? Had Tanu not called him a perverted old man? How could a jokester who thought of nothing but charming women become stronger than she? Tanu just couldn't believe it! She paused for another moment before throwing another punch. Was she underestimating her opponents? Life lessons had been taught to others that did such things. Tanu knew that if she expected more from Karite that it would be nothing but a let down. Did the Kun 'Kumo really want a let down or did she want to be beaten to a pulp by someone she had categorized as a weakling. "Hmph," Tanu grunted to herself as she threw out yet another punch.

The punch hit, but the hit was a weak one. No bark chipped as Tanu's loose hit met the tree. Frowning with displeasure, Tanu shook out her arms. The cool air was messing with her body, but she would endure it. For a moment, she decided to switch from her arms to her legs. Her arms had been the limb that had suffered the most from the Nawanuke training. Even if her legs took more energy to throw out, Tanu would make sure that she would practice them as well no matter how tired she felt. Standing in a comfortable position and keeping her balled hands up by her chin, Tanu stood ready as if she were still in battle. Mustering up as much energy as she could, Tanu brought her leg up to the side of the trunk. She must've only gotten it waist high before her muscles failed her and she wasn't able to lift it any higher. The feeling of being completely drained of energy was a tough one to handle, but Tanu would continue her own training no matter what.

Tanu didn't bicker at herself, but merely tried to throw up her leg once again to hit the tree. This time her exhaustion really hit and she stopped halfway through. "I can't," she breathed, flopping down to the ground as she took a moment to rest. Her training today and left her both physically and mentally drained. Tanu had to understand when to give her body a break and now would be the time. She tilted her head up to the afternoon sky to see the streaks of sunlight coming through the branches of the trees. This place was dark and dreary, somewhere that would fit a dark soul's preference. Tanu's soul was rather blackened, but not in a depressed manner. She looked to her side to see bugs crawling across mossy rocks. How quaint it would be to be an insect. Tanu lifted her hand and squished a single bug in the pack that was moving across the rock. How devastating it was to be so small and powerless. Tanu was glad that she was a human and able to control her life and destiny more than a mere insect could. There were morals and laws protecting Tanu from being snuffed out so easily at such a young age. She imagined that bug to be rather young since its size wasn't too large.

After taking that moment to rest and snuff out the life of one living being, Tanu rose to her feet once again. She went up very slowly since she could feel herself blacking out. The next stop after training would definitely be a noodle shop or something with food! Bringing those scratched up fists back to her chin, Tanu readied herself for a strong and powerful kick. She would not throw it out and quit halfway like she had just done. No. She would complete it no matter how weary she felt. Bringing that leg up, Tanu brought it up high above her waist. Her body tilted as she strained and put all her efforts into making that hit with the flat top of her foot. The hit sounded throughout the forest with its dull noise. The light pitter patter of tree bark hit the ground as Tanu brought her foot down and smiled in satisfaction at her hit. Even when she was drained of almost all her energy and hungry than a starving wolf, she was able to place such hits. Did Shinichi really think that the pampered students could live up to her abilities? That thought alone made Tanu crack a smile at herself and her abilities which she had been tearing herself apart for earlier.

The sting from the hit against the tree made her foot throb in a very good way. Tanu switched her stance in order to stand ready to hit with her other leg. She wanted this attack to be just as powerful, just as high and just as painful. The pain that Tanu felt made her feel accomplished and whole. Birds began to sound off like sirens throughout the forest. The noise was chaotic and brought Tanu a sense of peace. She held her hands tightly ready for punches in front of her face. This kick would be followed up by every other hit she had thrown at this tree. Pushing off the soggy cold ground, Tanu brought her leg up hitting the tree. She then spun around to follow up with a hook, then a forward punch and then finishing off with a low kick. "Beautiful," she said to herself as she felt those muscles stay tight and those hits to land where she willed them to. A smile spread across her face as she brought her guard down. Knowing that she had done what she wished, Tanu picked up her rope and headed out of the forest. She would go back to the village and grab a bite to eat and then clean up for her challenge....

Shisei walked into the forest in a mixture of moves. His body had been going through different kick techniques as he entered the forest. The boy's frame advanced one a kick was made and the leg fell in front of him while the other performed a style of kick. Then the two feet would interchange. It was the weirdest way to walk and get somewhere, but Shisei always preferred to multi-task. Why not just get two things done at once? His body continued with the roundhouses he had started to begin with. Each leg did a version of the spin kick driving the boy forward with a hop and switch to stance before initiating the next kick. A normal roundhouse in low, mid, and high forms. A reverse roundhouse. The shinobi in training child was becoming more daring with each result despite being on slippery snow. After performing a reverse high roundhouse his legs wanted to try another move of mother’s. It was something he could not do back then, but maybe his frame could do it now. His body leaped into the air after the last kick, rotating in mid air. Shisei did not get enough height, nor did he put enough power into his rotating frame. The result was the boy falling on his belly into the snow. “Gahh…” the youth groaned from his forehead and nose landing first into the icy ground. His skeleton flipped over in the snow to stare up at the sky. “That was certainly unbecoming…” the youth said to himself. No one was around so he did not care of speaking aloud or lying in the snow. It was then he realized how different this forest was from the one of bamboo. Both were quiet and relaxing. Peaceful and chilling. Yet the sorrowful forest had a negative nature towards it. Perhaps it was the feel of death in the air? Or maybe grieving souls of the departed? Either way Shisei was beginning to like the place as much as the bamboo forest. “Fitting for a monster.”.

The snake arose, shaking the snow from his head. The small knot that would arise on his cranium under the purple dreads was not enough to cause amnesia. Shisei had come to this forest for a purpose and that was to collect the rest of his goods. Being the paranoid child he was, Shisei went the extra step and hid the tessen and smoke bomb in different locations. The beginning path would be easy enough, but there would be a division in opposite directions. The first thing the shinobi child needed to do was locate where the boars were killed. His form easily returned to that place. The remnants of hopper’s trap laid veiled in the snow. The leftover liquid of the boars body were gone. The area was slightly nostalgic to the Orochi, but no good memories. He had killed his boar with ample time, but the other two lagged behind. This was also the place where lion and rabbit proved their love for one another. Ironic that a grieving forest would breed love. Shisei let the thought slip away into the wind as his eyes scanned the area for the specific tree. They were little things that he noticed or left to find his items. At the same time those things could have been moved by animals or Mother Nature in that time. Well nothing could be done about it now. Finding the tree of his search he came into contact with what his eyes were looking for. This tree the snake child had put two arrows in it. Both traveling in different directions and angled up on the tree. To anyone it would look like the arrows were pointing in a direction at the ground. Only Shisei knew the trick. Even though it was downwards Shisei assumed that directly down was 180 degrees south when creating the mark. One arrow pointed to the south west and the other south east. Shisei proceeded in the direction of south west.

Meters the child traveled away from the tree. His gold eyes peering around for another object that would give him an idea of where to go. The peace and tranquility of the forest was only broken by its inhabitants. Those disruptions were few and far in between. There was also the sound his feet made every time they crunched in the snow, but his ears managed to disregard the noise. After being around so many people for so long, the stillness and silence was welcoming. Even though it was a few days, the child had spent more months alone. As his mind drew further back he had someone around him all the time. Perhaps that’s why Shisei’s younger sibling and his self never got along. She was like his ivory shadow. There was those other two he spent some time with during his months of disappearance although the two were exceptions when it came to children. Other than those instances, the blanket of solitude made the serpent comfortable. Amber orbs finally came across a lone, broken log that was angled upwards by a stone. The area below it was small enough for Shisei to slip under, while inside the log was large enough for the snake child to crawl though. It was there that his body began to travel.

Gold eyes saw the giant log, but from here is where his mind became slightly foggy. Snow and daylight made the log appear different than when Shisei crossed paths with nature’s oxygen producer. Light was supposed to make things easier to find. Instead it only confused the serpent child. Where did he actually put it again? Shisei could have tapped himself over his snout for making such a stupid mistake. He remembered the shadows of the night as his compass around the log instead of actual environmental objects. Now would have been a good time to have the family dog. It could have searched for the lad’s equipment easily without having to go through all this fuss. The tessen could have also been easily acquired through the dog. Especially now since the serpent youth was wondering if he could remember the location of the metal fan. Alas if only the loyal canine was still alive, but it’s frame was feeding earthworms and probably became fertilizer long ago. Thinking about that was not going to help the child find his smoke bomb.

His head waved around, searching the area. Eyes searching for some type of clue while his brain replayed all his steps during the time within the sorrowful forest. It finally occurred to the child that he went under the log. Of course! A heavy piece of timber sitting unsteadily on a few stones. It could possibly crush anyone under it. What would risk going under it? Yet these risky types of places proved the best havens for treasure. After all, sunken treasure was always found in sunken ghost ships at depths and places that many sea creatures wished not to travel. Where vicious sharks, eels and squids make that location their haven. It is through there that the greatest riches are found. Life was similar. Only by approaching closer to hazard and death was one able to acquire true wealth. Most of the world could not acquire that though, because of their limitations. Pale legs walked through the snow, getting closer to the log.

The boy finally reached near the gigantic broken tree allowing one palm to slide across the exterior of the log. Shisei felt its wooden and broken frame as if trying to feel the pain of the nature’s design. Or perhaps to search it for answers. The dread hair took his pace slowly; his palm lightly gliding across the surface of the log until he came to a certain point where his hand stopped. It was hindered by an obtrusion, perhaps a stick from another tree that pierced it. This was the key the Shisei was looking for. At that point the snake wanderer crouched low and went under the log. He did not need to crouch as low as others. His body was the shortest on the island after all. Being a ten year old did have its positives. The Orochi born crawled under the heavy log, throwing caution to the wind. Even though it had occurred to him if the tree shifted and fell he’d die, Shisei was not hindered from his desire. The gold eyes loomed up to the bark skin searching for a hole in the structure. “Now where was that gap…” the boy contemplated.

The body continued forward until the space between wood and snow was growing thinner and thinner. It was starting to become an impediment for his tiny skeleton. When he reached a certain point, his body flipped over so that his eyes could stare at the bark skin of the log. There was no crevice, but the serpentine eyes saw the cracks that his eyes couldn’t the night before. “Heh. I calculated correctly.” the boy thought with joy. During the night of the boar kill he had searched under this log for a hole or a soft spot. With the help of a rock and stick he managed to create a gap in a soft spot. It was also fortunate that the gap he created did not fully break the opening. This allowed him to try and fit back the piece into place. It would have been noticeable for someone to see the cracks originating from the wood covering, but one would have to know something was in that spot to find it. After all, the log was so large. Shisei, allowed a small smirk to crawl across his face as his fingers searched through the crevice. In a few moments a pale hand returned with a gray orb. Just as he left it the night before was his item. “Excellent.” the youth thought. Now was to gain his last armament. The tessen.
